shallow, hell no, it isn't house money. Its mine! I want every red cent, interest too.
Tax strategy. I suggest that long term investors with substantial profits in other investments hold onto BOCX until 2009 and 2010. IF BOCX does not succeed you can use it to offset your other long term gains which future President Obama will tax at 25% or higher. If BOCX finally gets RECAF to market you will pay the increased tax because you will be one of the rich people needed to pay for middle class tax relief. So, BOCX is a win win situation.
I am nauseous reading about Samsung's quibbling and using every conceivable argument to avoid paying. I don't understand how Interdigital's management and lawyers can keep a civil relationship with these people and their representatives. Arbitration, and our legal system appears unable to deal with them.
I can't help wondering what would happen if the USA withdrew its army and IDCC stockholders appealed to North Korea to resolve our dispute with Samsung.
irreparable harm? Could one of our learned members please explain what that means? Murder or loss of a limb I can understand. Negotiating a FRAND license fee for essential technology necessary to compete baffles me. TIA
War of attrition! Samsung will wait for an ITC decision next March. I suspect they will then appeal at least once, possibly twice. Then in a long time in the future, if faced with a loss of US imports, they will seriously negotiate and conclude a license. Their only added expense will be legal fees and a low interest rate. In the mean time, Interdigital may grow impatient and accept their low offer. They have a strategy which does not include being liked or respected. It is WAR.
The prospect of a long war and lack of resolution is the reason for the stock collapse. JMHO Any comments?
sjratty, My condolences to you and Marvin's family. May he rest in peace.
What was Interdigital's objective in bringing suit? If there is no violation did they fail to meet their objective? Can the ALJ preside over a reasonable licensing agreement?
After this fall in price, do the shorts have hope for a further
drop in the stock price or will they be the agent of a price rise as they cover? If there is any possible good news, the rise in price could be dramatic as they are forced to cover.
Please comment on any or all these ponts. TIA
Ghors, How can the attornies call Seoul or KOP if they need guidance? TIA
Olddog, This confirms the current preference for owing over owning. Thanks for your prompt reply.
Is there any legal precedent for adjusting monetary judgements for inflation or currency devaluation? How about the time value of money? TIA
JimLur, Remember your old testament where Moses lead the Israelites through their long ordeal but he never entered the promised land.
We are almost there and I hope you wll lead us into the land of milk and honey.
Discouraged! I have been a long term holder and enthusiastic about the technology. I am terribly disappointed by the BOCX management. Where is the catalyst ?
Decision time for the short sellers. They are agonizing over the meaning of the UK settlement . Could it mean the 3G agreement that IDCC described as making progress? Nah!
IDCC under $24 is an interesting speculation over the next couple of weeks. There is a 50:50 chance there will be a pop on positive news. You can put in a stop loss against another delay or a negative ruling. JMHO and I apologise to the dedicated long term holders who would bever speculate.
my3s, it appears that Ericsson has joined Motorola in never never land where they don't license and neither Interdigital nor members of this board mentions them. I have a new defense for Samsung. We will only pay what those two are paying.
My second will meet your second at dawn tomorrow to choose the weapons which we will use to kill each other. They will be dressed as gentlemen and will observe all the coutesies that custom requires on such an occasion.
Are you still optimistic that observing the amenities will allow us to escape unharmed after the duel?
plumear, I believe that the Russell 500 0r 1000 index readjusted their share amounts. I don't think that buying has any relevance to IDCC or PANL. Sorry
Chichi2, Thank you.
chichi2, Your message says to click on replied 2 message. I don't see where that is. Please explain.
Thank you
my3sons, It is very simple. It is about money.
Grumble, grumble: Forbes, hates it. Kramer hates it. The major mobile phone producers hate it. Even I hate it after 10 years.
IDCC is rising slowly and steadily. Maybe some people like it.
Is IDCC IPR in the new Samsung Omnia? I would guess that there is because of its similarity to the iPhone. Any comments?
my3sons, I am surprised that you are confused because I understand it all. Despite Interdigital's claims in thousands of patents, Nokia and Samsung have never infringed technology based on valid patents where fair and reasonable licensing fees are required. Furthermore, even if they did they didn't.
Our President, William Merritt has stated that it is completely understandable that they resist paying a large amount of money and that is normal. Simple, no?
Below $22.50, the last chance to buy at this bargain price. After option expiration, you will pay more on Monday. Nobody responded to my question about how the option sellers manage the price. Is it legal or another SEC blessing of Wall Street manipulation?
Amazing how the stock price stays under $22.50 just before option expiration. I am curious how that is done. Do any of the experienced option traders on the board know the mechanism? If it is short selling, will the stock rise on covering after expiraion? If the company is buying, this is a source of cheap shares. Comments?
my3sons, any news from Judge Judy onthe Samsung appeal?
my3sons, Your message has been translated into Korean and Finnish. It is possible that you will have statues of you standing on a pile of bricks erected in
Seoul and Helsinki. Their lawyers have copied your message and may submit it to all the courts where the Interdigital cases are slowly wending their way as proof of their claims.
LOL
Ghors, If the Judge or Interdigital attornies don't understand Korean or Finnish, how can anyone know whether confidential information has passed to the two largest and least ethical mobile phone producers in the world? i.e. Their US counsel to an outside Korean or Finn to Samsung or Nokia management.
Are American judges and lawyers naive or what?
Is there a competitive analysis of DPDW with FTI and CAM. I have a position in DPDW and need help in deciding whether to buy more or diversify among their competitors. TIA
Nokia is not using Interdigital IPR in their new phones and has not used their IPR in their old phones. Interdigital patents are neither valid or essential. Even if they were or are, Interdigital has not offered to license them under FRAND.
This is a brief summary of Nokia's position after years of court appearances and millions of dollars.
Hillary would destroy Finland and Obama would negotiate with them. Who has a better plan?
Worried, Worried. IDCC is up over 5%. Something terrible is going to happen. Either Nokia will combine their defense with Samsung or they will separate them. There will be a delay in the arbitration or a decision is forthcoming. ( an appeal is certain.) IDCC will issue an 8K or they will not.
I am terribly worried about this abnormal rise in the stock. What is management doing about it. Maybe, they will sell some of their holdings. Then, I would feel better.
I am shocked, shocked that IDCC stockholders don't trust the two largest and most prestigious international mobile phone producers to pay reasonable licensing fees for the best available technology. I am not sure that the fact that Samsung management has been replaced because of bribes and corruption in Korea is relevant. As for Nokia, they appear to be simply exploring every legal avenue to assure themselves that they are not being exploited by avaricious patent holders. Certainly, large successful businesses can be relied upon to act ethically.
Our legal system is the best in the world and surely can be trusted to provide swift and equable justice to all.
If you doubt what I have written above you must conclude that the mobile phone industry is dominated by immoral companies that will go to any lengths to avoid paying reasonable licensing fees.
The US legal system is rife with incompetence and ponderous procedures which favor the richest entities and deny justice to the weak and less well endowed.
Arbitration is unreliable and easily delayed by the unscrupulous
corporations mentioned above.
I am trying to decide whether to vote for IDCC management or not.
DUH!

Samsung Chairman Lee to Step Down After Indictment (Update1)
By Kevin Cho
April 22 (Bloomberg) -- Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun Hee said he will step down after being charged for tax evasion and breach of duty.
Lee, 66, spoke during a televised press briefing today in Seoul. Samsung Group Vice Chairman Lee Hak Soo and President Kim In Joo will also resign by the end of June, the vice chairman said separately.
Lee was charged last week by prosecutors with evading 112.8 billion won ($114 million) of taxes and with breach of fiduciary duty for incurring losses at Samsung by helping his son gain control of group units.
Samsung said it will reorganize its business and management after Lee was charged.

I am an IDCC addict. I need help. I can't sell at $18. I bought because it looks cheap to me. Please help me resist the temptation to keep buying. Someone please tell me this is not a good investment.
Please, please don't say the sky is blue over King of Prussia. I was tempted to buy May calls but chickened out after years, and years of frustration and option losses. GLTA
1581, Do you think the buyer has inside information about the results of Hemi drilling in all locations? LOL
Someone, please explain why anyone would or could buy 40 shares of a 5 cent stock? Please include 250 or 400 shares as well. Commission free? I am mystified.
Thank you.
What is the weather in Kansas. I am traveling in Holland and the weather news on CNN is bleak for Texas and Oklahoma. We don't wan't flooding in SE Kansas like last year. Thanks for any info.
