acquired 26989 shares as part of compensation package if I read it correctly......I am guessing this entitlement was for his promotion...?????
L2V....me too, same thing, thought today would be the day and still nothing...I am guessing they are waiting until the last minute to see where things stand...some issues may have less of a chance of passing depending on where things shake out between now and May 31....
SPAM SPAM SPAM....get rid of that crap Matt!
Bill basically said Howard and RIp did fine and helped IDCC grow but the board felt it needed to grow further and they chose him to see to it....also change had absolutely nothing to do with NOKIA arbitration results or speculation of results....they are not living or conducting business with NOK arbitration as the sole focus...end of preapred remarks....questions starting
mine does....music for now...just starting now...Janet with intros and disclaimers
Corp, with respect to you, it WASN'T done two years ago. Now it has been. I think the board has learned some valuable lessons over the last two years. It took some fairly big stones to make this change this close to arbitration ending. I was very glad to see the change and I like you wish it had been done earlier but it wasn't so I'm happy with NOW. No need to live in the past now that it has been taken care of, at least that is my feeling. I have little doubt HC will be gone in the next 60 days.
Danny I think you are all over it...I too was taken back with the initial announcement but that was with a very short term perspective of the moment. I for one totally agreed with the changes, I just questioned the timing. In hindsight the only thing it effected was short term share price. I look at the arbitration and think that regardless of the outcome, Merritt is a better fit going forward, win or lose. You may as well get it over with and move on, say nothing about the distinct possibility that he is working an all-encompassing deal with NOKIA that Howard could not get done. take care...no chance after this that I will support the COrp deal...
If the consensus was a loss of .05 and we came in at a loss of .02 that seems very positive...don't expect any big bombs in the cc...doubt very much we will hear any new licnesing deals, or much on the recent departures...I will be tuned in......
OK mschere aside from how many people own the stock what is your take on this whole situation?
Rolling the dice again...maybe against my better judgement but over the last 2 hours I added another 1600 shares.....It seems as thought things have settled down and my feeling is that Tom Carpenter knows whats going on to a bigger extent than most (as in Wells)...anyway just wanted to show where I stand...now get ready to grab shares below my purchase price...because that is the way it works!!!
i'll bet Wells is BUYING today
my ameritrade is showing 14.52/14.78 bid/ask....
thanks Mr Lurgio....for all the ups and downs we have experienced over all these years you would think some day we would be rewarded for all the premature aging and greying that is going on....I just wish we would get some additonal info from K of P....somebody knows something that is/will have a major finacial impact on this company and it is being kept in the bag. I honestly believe that..
Where has mschere been through all this dicussion? Did Jimlur state has opinion or guess as to what is going on? I thought Iread every post but didn't catch any thoughts from Jimlur and mschere seems to have gone awol...
Jimlur...care to give us any insight to what I would guess was your conversation with Janet....if you don't care to make it public e-mail at falconftr@yahoo.com
What is the possibility that Howard and Rip were part of the negotiating team that refused anything from NOKIA except an all out win. The rest of the group really felt for the good of IDCC that it should settle rather than role the dice ala MOT. Maybe in the end they had to go in order to get a settlement, might also be that NOK agreed to some terms including a complete 3G deal but said we don't want to deal with those two going forward and they both said fine...do the deal we get our big $$$ and we'll leave....man I'm grasping for something positive here
no sleep for me tonight...................guaranteed!!!!
Malko was right about one thing..they announce big news on Tuesdays!!!
sjratty...that was one of the reasons that made me think maybe a buyout is in the works...another possibility (lets hope) is that Howard and Rip see the win coming, are tired of the pressure and thought they would ride of into the sunset with their saddle bags full
I hate to say it but I think either bad news is a comin' or the company is sold....hoping for something positive..
OT: AMS I really was just giving you a hard time...I know you love that sport. I also know the passion for soccer or futball just hasn't grown here....too each his own when it comes to sports...heck I have a friend that climbs trees in competitio 10 weekends a year and thinks its the greatest thing since real Football....whoops I mean american football....
OT: AMS what news is that? Did some guy named Liverpool sue that daughter of Bill Clinton? I've had ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX all on and nobody is saying anything about it....It can't be sports, I've had my Sirius radio on ESPN all day and nodda....must not be anything.....
REVISON just got a call from a friend that read my post and told me it was soccer....from the way things often go there does that mean one fan named Liverpool was killed? Can't wait for the highlights, btter get the BBC I guess
Regarding B of D proposal....Just a few questions to ponder...How would any of us individual shareholders be able to discern how good of job EACH board member is doing? I have no idea of the input that EACH contributes. Do any of us? I guess what I am trying to say is, are we really well enough informed of the actual workings/contributions of the board to decide whether an indvidual is doing a good job?
mschere....that sounds matter of factly to me....what IF a named company DOES NOT sign a 3G contract based on the possibilty that IDCC failed in 2G arbitration? That MIGHT set an even stronger precedent to fight and litigate with IDCC on 3G IPR? I know I may be playing a little devils advocate here but I guess I am asking you is it possible that if we have an outright downer in the NOK arbitration might that named Company decide to roll their dice in court also, thus squeezing our NOK and others 3G deal? thanks for any input that any might offer on this REVISION---thanks L2V...you sort of answered this while I was typing my orginal post
Nokia will pay IDCC for their 3G sales as per their 1999 License THROUGH 2006..when a named Company signs with IDCC for 3G..IDCC currently has over 4,000 Patents..and when 2007 arrives they may well have 6,000 Patents, of which only some claims have to be Infringed by Nokia's 2007 Products..The Delaware Litigation will have faded away .at that point in time..
Hey Danny...finally have a little time to post but have been constantly lurking. I certainly hate to stir the pot here as there has been way to much of that absent some real news for us all to discuss. I have been walking around with my toes crossed, along with my fingers, that we get a positive resolution along with, and in my eyes just as important a lengthy binding 3G deal from Nokia. I guess as a lowly salesman/sales mgr I just haven't been privy to getting paid before I produce (put money in the company and shareholders pockets). Maybe I'm a little jealous I can't find a way to swing that kind of deal. lol. You are right that is very much the way things work anymore in many industries. I just think that is one thing that has hurt corporate America and SPORTS...good leadership is the precursor to all of this I still think its too heavily weighted on the front side..take care..hope your well
L2V...you are all over it...as usual in a very well explained way..I have huge patience I just don't feel "aligned" with mgmt when they get the "bonus" dollars that are not yet in the bank for their shareholders. LIke I said I'm not going anywhere it certainly isn't enough, at this time, to make me sell 1 share, that would be idiotic IMO. Hopefully we'll know by June 1st..for some strange reason I have my doubts. Can't be our past luck! lol
mschere...thats b.s. I have been invested here, long, for 7 years. I can nearly guarantee I will be one of those final 10 holding the shares that you always talk about. It doesn't mean I can't disagree with one part of the equation. Don't include me in that blanket statement.
"They all have been pre-programed to self destruct by 5/31/05 or earlier."
pochemunyet...You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT....POISED....haven't done it yet..I would have no problem with their compensation being doubled AFTER the earnings are in the bank and the shareholders have received their compensation for their longtime investment. You are, IMO, mostly correct in regards to "Beyond mgmt control" but there again, lets see if we do get paid what is expected and rightly ours BEFORE paying them like we've hit the mother load..JMO
Learning.....very sobering post. I'm not anti mgmt, I am anti the present compensation package. $89,000 isn't much performance to be sending a multi-million dollar package to keep them happy...I say again don't count on May 31st as the end..it won't happen in my opinion, NOK will find a way to drag it out further...
arthritis.....I think you would be wise to choose better verbage than "Love" and "Hate" when talking about how everyone feels about Mgmt. I don't know these people and while I don't HATE anyone I doubt I love them either. You might come across more serious if you would say some people are happy with the job they are doing and some think they have failed in doing their job. I know you are a country boy...so am I, at heart, but to use that HATE tag day in and day out just doesn't fit the situation. IMO
Jimlur, I don't blame you because nobody is violating the rules but this board has gone so far downhill over the last month. Right now 90% of the posts are utterly worthless babble from people more interested in picking sides and fights than offering any good information. This is my opinion only. Hopefully things will get back to normal after NOK is resolved. I must state again that I think one way or another, there will be some sort of delay to the date. It just seems to happen with IDCC....I am however HOPING for a big award prior to that!
Hardball...I think you just echoed what many of us here feel. There is no need to "warn us" most of us know we became hooked on the potential and have willingly hung onto our shares year after year (I am only in my 6th year of ownership). I guess common sense tells me after all this waiting I can wait a few more months, although I have that sinking feeling there will be more delays to this NOK situation. Quite honestly right now I don't know where I would reinvest anyway so I am letting it ride. One of these days we are either going to be very happy or extremely dissappointed and by the amount of shares I have accumulated, I have made my bet that we are going to prevail in a profitable way. The EXTREMES here are what bother me, but I can see past the posts. I think, for example the reality of our mgmt falls somewhere between AMS13 opinion and Arthritis' opinion, I personally think they are both off base. I think our "goods and wares" probably fall somehwere between what mschere says we have and what edferrari says we don't have....If you can get past the extremes you can get some good info from many posters. Anyway in the end I take all the information that is provided, do my own dd, and have placed my bets. I would feel worse if I sold now and never had the CHANCE to realize what I ahve been after with IDCC for 6 years. I can live with the possible downside.
somebody most know something.....LOL
Hey that was the case the other day when we were going down in share price, if we all recall....
one other thing to look at...I too think they are overcompensated for a job half done at this point. However, based on the amount of shares these guys are "given" it would go across all principles of diversification to buy more IDCC shares with their own $$$. They would be more prudent to look for other avenues of investment to balance their risk....JMO.
Loop per your post below.....I too have been trying to dig into that. Truth be known it was ONE of the things that attracted me to IDCC. I figured that other than employee salaries and compensation there shouldn't be heavy expense assocaited with a company in this business..
I am having a tough time figuring out how our expenses have grown to more than 100 mil annually. The engineering costs are less than 50% of that figure
Loop...I shared the same fear a couple days back but you, as usual, said it much more eloquently....hope it doesn't come to this....
any chance the buyback is in play and K of P is accumulating some shares?
finally! geez Ed we hadn't seen a little hidden "dig" for at least a few days
sounds good to me....pays to read AHEAD....I just wasn't sure if I was missing something absolute as not sure where the IMO was meant to take hold....IMO there are lots of "ifs" still out there at this juncture. All that being said, all my shares are long and not planning to change that anytime soon..
mschere.....I know you said "IMO" but did you mean will be royalty bearing (IMO) IF they sign an updated license...again there must have been 100 of these "WHEN" they update statements over the last year...with very few done..is indeed NOK resolution the trigger to all these updates you have talked about......thanks
Will be mostly recurring revenue bearing for IDCC, when Ericy signs an updated license with IDCC to include 3G..
mschere...the list is growing....I should have started counting a year ago regarding that statement "IDCC will need to upgrade its _____ license to be able to receive" There have been a lot of them....but very few actually done...Hoping for better days on that front once this NOK situation is behind us. Somehow, and I don't want to be negative, I'll bet that the May 31 deadline is not the end of this saga...NOK will find another way to drag it out....
Data...anything interesting or enlightening here in this press release....? Thoughts?
