Merritt speaks with knowledge and background, but IMO he lacks enthusiasm. I would love to hear him talk with authority.
I also wonder why Bill Nasgovitz didn't show up. Is it possible that Merritt told Nasgovitz to stay out?
Where is Bill Nagovitz?
Hmmm, what's this shareholders rights board Merritt is talking about?
when you consider the mentality of some of these chat board shareholders it's not surprising
Just curious, do you consider yourself a chat board shareholder?
Btw, what do you propose IDCC do with this immense chunk of change? Are you happy with a .5% return?
Well...they had enough money because people have been crying for a dividend for a long time.
Say what you want regarding the dividend, but 2/3 of those surveyed disagree with you.
I've been saying this for yrs and for yrs there has been NO DIVIDEND.
Maybe you have been saying this for years, but IDCC hasn't had over a half billion dollars in cash for years and years.
I am sure a professor of economics would have a hell of a time explaining investing to his class with IDCC.
It beats me, Mickey. I'd like to see a stock guru......like Jim Cramer or someone similar.......show us a better stock than IDCC. I'm becoming convinced that IDCC investors are viewed as a cult by Wall Street. It just doesn't make sense. I'll be listening to the CC today and hopefully WM will pull a rabbit out of his hat.
Mickey, near as I can tell IDCC is holding it's own today. Seems to be trading along the trends of the market and staying around $26. Tomorrow could be a wild trading day for us if WM surprises us with something special ;)
Survey: As of now 93 IDCC investors have taken the survey. So far results show roughly 2/3 are FOR and 1/3 are AGAINST.
It's too bad we can't submit this survey at tomorrows CC. Btw, if you want to listen in to the CC just call 888-802-2225 tomorrow at 10:00 am EST.
It will be interesting to see if Bill Nagovitz(?) brings up dividends tomorrow. I'll be sure to be listening in.
Great post, Revlis. Here's a different link with basically the same content.

The good news is that while we all have so little in common, we do have at least one common denominator (IDCC).
I can understand the frustrations of techies and legal types here that tire of the repeated questions tossed at them by average investors. To me, I'm happy to have the best of both worlds. I can post freely on Mickey's board and still catch up on tech & legal stuff here and on the premium board.
I also appreciate Revlis' contributions on Mickey's board as well. Btw, all of us average investors owe great appreciation to all who add their expertise to these forums.
My apologies. I was just having fun at your expense :)
TNDM sounds like a stock to further check out. Just one question: do they pay a dividend ?
:)
I believe shareholders are to be rewarded for taking a position in a company and to share the rewards, not just officers.
Exactly, Mickey. As share owners we "share" in the risk, why then should we not share in the rewards?
It would stall the stock price because Interdigital would be sending the message we have matured and we don't know of a better way to invest it.
Dndodd, what better investment could IDCC make than in it's share holders? Up until now IDCC mgnt has done a great job investing in themselves. Remember, they have more than half a $BILLION in cash and from my understanding this cash is only drawing about 1/2 percent interest per year.
If it won't do anything for the stock price it is a non starter for me. I am in this for the stock price not one time divdends.
My question is: if a dividend doesn't do anything for the stock price (good or bad) then why not allow the share holders to reap at least minimal rewards from a dividend? Apparently IDCC has more cash than they know what to do with, so why not spread some of the wealth? Let us decide what we want to do with our share of the company's excess reserve of cash. Just my 2 cents!
I've always been of the opinion that many insiders sell to cover taxes. I thought this was a common practice in upper management of public companies.
Need help please. Exactly what is Exhibit 99.1 in the link below?
Thanks!

If the stock was fairly valued, I bet there wouldn't be so much talk of paying a dividend.
Your comment above is nuts on. Problem is, IDCC isn't fairly valued. What about you..............are you pleased with your investment in IDCC?
While disagreeing with you, I see your point. My thoughts are, why not pay a dividend? It certainly won't hurt their cash holdings. I'm not alone in thinking the share price doesn't reflect the true value of our investment so what's wrong with spreading wealth via dividends.
Sheesh, I just took the dividend survey and was a little surprised at the results so far. 55% FOR & 37% AGAINST
Btw, I voted for it.
Mickey, I'm ALL IN on IDCC, lol. I have no dry powder left. You're probably right about TV exposure. I guess I was thinking that if we were featured on CNBC that maybe some unaware investors would take notice.
Btw, It's great to see all the familiar posters over here. So far Mickey's Telecom Corner is a success :)
Thanks Jim. I'll email him and ask him to check out IDCC's fundamentals. Might be worth the 2 minutes it takes to email.
Mickey, thanks for the PM regarding talking heads. I was just thinking that we need more exposure and what better way than to be on SquawkBox?
Jimlur, a mention of IDCC on SquawkBox would probably give us a little kick in share price. Off-hand I don't recall the names of the talking heads that recommend stocks, but maybe someone here could email the talking heads or post their names and the rest of us could email them. Just thinking out loud!
Put me in the yay column. I'm all for the dividend. Last time I checked share holders were owners of the company. Why not let us partake in reaping some rewards. It's obvious that mgnt does.

One would think if someone walked up to any fund manager and said I can show you a stock that is trading at P/E of 4 times forward earnings, and they have no debt and only 55% of what they derive their money from paying and hopefully they will get the other 45% paying soon, do you think the fund manager
would say you got to be kidding me no such thing exists.
I think you are on to something, Mickey. Is it possible that investors just plain don't believe it's possible for a company to have such fantastic fundamentals as IDCC?
I've looked high & low and have yet to find a stock that even comes close to IDCC as far cash-on-hand vs share price. Maybe someone here could show me a comparable stock, but I doubt it.
I too am in the dividend camp. IMO the initial dividend should be $1.00 to give a little boost to share price and $.25 per quarter thereafter to hopefully keep new investors joining the ranks.
At the top of my wish list would be for IDCC to keep investors more abreast in the day-to-day operations of the company. Not so much as to give away strategy secrets to competition, but at least keep us current as to what their plans are. I may be wrong but it seems to me that IDCC's PR department behaves more like a private company than a public one.
Olddog, I believe you are correct that Nokia never stated that the rates IDCC were seeking were fair. However I do recall that Nokia made an offer to IDCC and IDCC rejected the offer. I don't think the amount of the offer was made public. If not mistaken this offer took place about 3 years ago.
Welcome Revlis. I missed your valuable opinions on the other IHUB board. Thanks for all you do.
I got it, Mickey. You have to admit though, it's going to be tough to discuss telecoms other than IDCC.
I like the new name. I just hope we can find a way to talk about different telecoms besides IDCC.
I guess my question pertains to any public company. With all the talk of buyouts (as much as I am against it as far as IDCC), how does the process work? If there is a bid to buy out a public company, does the BOD decide or do shareholders get to vote and have a say too? Just curious.
Mickey's Telecom Corner
I like it, what say you Mickey?
How about Mickey's Stock Talk? Or maybe just Stock Talk?
Mickey, will you be the moderator here? I hope so.
Bulldzr, how come you only get 3 posts per day? I am a non-premium member and can post 15 times per day.
Mickey, thanks for the PM to invite me here. This seems much more like my style of a message board. I'll still read Jimlur's board just to stay on top of the scuttlebutt over there.
Good morning all. Good to see Mickey posting again. Gotta run, will be back in a few hours.
Check AND checkmate! I think we all can painfully agree with you.
It's Wall Street's opinion that really matters. IMO
Thanks Olddog. I guess I must have.
