Design to production, best case, 9-12 months as stated by steipp
I believe the same, i can't see the reason why bmg molds take years compared to plastic/MIM molds.
I am counting on the European Prototype to turn into something substantial. If so, it will let Wall Street
and investors know....this is for real...and its not dependent on APPLE news. So my hopes are on this Fall...when we may hear more. I feel better knowing ENGEL will be in charge of the EUROPEAN endeavor....there won't be any screw ups....They have everything in place that's needed
to service a very large contract.
I'm betting it was ENGEL and its connections...and the 3000 guest symposium. I won't knock
LQMT in that area. LQMT and ENGEL are partners. The strength of LQMT is the patents....
but ENGAL has the flash and sparkle, with the machines and world reputation and all the support
people, on and on. So who would you rather deal with for a big contract. ENGEL already has all the sales people, for the plastics machines. They have everything LQMT is doing, but more.
So, we may see another transition in the logistics development and the entire plan to get LiquidMetal
into the world marketplace.
My opinion of course.
Watt do you know about lqmt & bmw ?
old news, that's the same story they told everyone 10 years ago...
By old news you mean 1 month old since the symposium or the Hybrid?
if its so revolutionary it would already be on the market IN MASS, someone would have made it work....if Apple couldn't figure it out and make it work it makes me wonder can ANYONE ????
So you are claiming here and now that it will never happen? Well guess what .... it has already started.
the share price says no.
what it said via email or txt?
time, 10 years isn't enough....and this is not NEW tech.....its been around awhile and NO ONE has been able to do anything with it, due to costs and manufacturing problems.
Engel has proven this year its both possible and economical, didn't you pay attention when Engel showcased lqmt forceps?
TECH has passed lqmt by
Tell that to the several multi-billion dollars companies that continue to develop this new tech
excuses for the company does not explain its ineptness from production to management....
what excuses ? you do know that technology takes time to perfect right?
check the share price.
and then ?
no links needed...if a small knife is 200 bucks, could you imagine the cost of something bigger...
Firstly, that is an oversimplification that does not work with economies of scale,
Secondly, the knife is the finale products while bmg/fibre laminates will be components.
why do you think no one has picked up on LQMT for 10 years.....LQMT don't even have the ability to mass produce anything that could be cost effective. there still struggling just to make a silly knife for 200.BUCKS ....
Why 10 years? because it is Just recently that Engel has shown bmg can be tamed, the Hybrid Forceps are first official proof of that.
If you think 200 is too much for a knife .... don't buy it.
pick anything you would like LQMT TO MAKE....they can't do it quickly, economically or in a mass produced state in a timely manner...not to mention ECONOMICALLY....
Engel would disagree, proof is the medical forceps displayed at the symposium, did you miss that?
LQMT INVESTMENT....check the share price.....12 cent...enough said
That is why its called a Penny Stock.
and much much much more expensive and much much much harder to make.....the auto business is about AUTOMATION....it would take LQMT 10 years to make a 6 month supply of ANYTHING at 5 times the cost....
Disagree, where are your links to back up your claims?
why do you think no one has picked up on LQMT for 10 years.....they don't even have the ability to mass produce anything that could be cost effective. there still struggling just to make a silly knife for 200.BUCKS ....
The above makes no sense, please elaborate.
could you imagine what a gas cap would cost....or a dash board or how long it would take them to make them....lolol....
gas cap? dash board? please explain the reason lqmt would be used in those parts, it just makes no sense.
as of yet there is nothing here...ck the share price.
Correct, its called investing
Lqmt and Fiber laminates are much much much stronger
Titan won't die and more rumours are being found.
Apple exec once referred to cars as "the ultimate mobile device"
http://appleinsider.com/articles/15/05/27/apples-jeff-williams-calls-cars-the-ultimate-mobile-device-in-discussion-on-carplay
"The car is the ultimate mobile device, isn't it?" Williams said at Re/code's Code Conference, responding to a question about which new markets Apple is looking at. "We explore all kinds of categories. We'll certainly continue to look at those, and evaluate where we can make a huge difference."
Williams was referring to CarPlay, but his comments are sure to add fuel to the Apple Car fire.
Although a Here takeover could give the car companies access to a user-friendly, in-car mapping platform without having to turn to parties like Google or Garmin, the long-term interest may be in self-driving vehicles, which will demand close integration of mapping, controls and sensors.
In the latest high-profile claim surrounding Apple's rumored electric car project, Reuters on Saturday cited sources who believe the company has been interacting with automotive suppliers and car manufactures in an attempt to learn how to develop an autonomous car.
People familiar with the project are saying Apple is focused on designing an entire vehicle, not just automotive software or individual components. The company is said to be picking the brains of experts in the automotive field, but has expressed no interest in combustion engine technology or conventional manufacturing methods.
Citing sources familiar with Apple's plans, Bloomberg reports executives are pushing internal development teams to start first production runs of an electric vehicle in five years, an aggressive goal even for established car manufacturers.

Did you buy the clubs or skies or racket ?
Yes because if you invest in Ford then you buy a Mustang and if you are invested in Boeing you buy a plan.

Dynast/Kinetics??
Dynacast International Inc. Announces Agreement to Acquire Kinetics Climax, Inc.
Dynacast International, a diecaster based in Charlotte, NC, is adding metal injection molding (MIM) to its range of production processes. The company has 22 plants in 16 countries, and produces engineered components in aluminium, magnesium, and zinc alloys using conventional cold-chamber diecasting and conventional and multi-slide hot chamber diecasting processes.
Charlotte-based Dynacast International, a diecaster and metal injection-molding operation, has a new controlling shareholder as several members of is investment syndicate depart in a reported $1.1 billion transaction. The deal is expected to close next month. The new lead investor is Partners Group, a private-equity group based in Switzerland, with reported assets totalling more than $40 billion.
Some interesting statistics from lqmts' part owner? Apple.
$2 billion spent on R&D last quarter.

$190 Billion held offshore.
http://appleinsider.com/articles/15/07/22/as-apples-offshore-cash-pile-reaches-190b-us-congress-moves-closer-to-multinational-tax-reform
Apple has been a vocal proponent of corporate tax reform, with chief executive Tim Cook appearing before Congress to testify about his company's practices vis-a-vis its overseas operations.
"It would be very expensive to bring that cash back to the United States," Cook said in 2013 when asked why Apple keeps so much money overseas. "Unfortunately, the tax code has not kept up with the digital age."
During its third-quarter earnings call on Tuesday, Apple revealed that its cash hoard has now passed $200 billion, with $190 billion of that sum held offshore.
It just doesn't make any sense unless there are ulterior motives. At least the price stays low for a while longer :)
This is the reality over the last 5 years of Steipps reign:
Wow that was a lot of pent up frustration just waiting to be unleashed.
Anyways some stock news regarding lqmt's part owner? Apple, investors are not happy with the sales of the watch and the earnings guidance.
Anyone still believe that Apples claim on perpetual exclusive rights can stand up to reality?
If Apple can't protect or receive damages for infringement and theft of its OWN patents then how on earth can Apple protect its 'exclusive CE' rights if lqmt is owned by a competitor?
Facebook, Google, eBay, HP, Dell and other Silicon Valley companies weighed in on the ongoing Samsung and Apple patent case, siding with the Korean company in a "friend of the court" briefing filed on July 1 to the U.S. Federal Circuit Court of Appeals and first spotted by Inside Sources [PDF via AppleInsider]. The companies argue that the court ordering Samsung to turn over profits would lead to stifled innovation.
apple_samsung_logos
If allowed to stand, that decision will lead to absurd results and have a devastating impact on companies, including [the briefing draftees], who spend billions of dollars annually on research and development for complex technologies and their components.
The companies contend that technology like smartphones, which include thousands of different components in both hardware and software, is too complex to award profits, like Samsung is being ordered to do, based on individual component infringements. They argue that any company could then be opened up to patent infringement cases for insignificant features like a specific user interface creation that only appears on a single screen of an app, therefore stifling innovation.
It’s almost three years since Apple was awarded $1B in damages after a jury found that Samsung infringed five of its patents. $450M of that award was later vacated and a retrial ordered to determine a revised sum, with Apple awarded a lower sum of $290M – for a revised total of $930M. The US appeals court later ruled that while Samsung did indeed copy iOS features, it should not have been penalised for copying the general look of the iPhone. The court now needs to once again revise the amount awarded.
As one requirement is achieved new requirements are targeted, so technically the project never really ends, just continually improving capabilities.
The above statement is my words, my understanding of the 'copy n paste' below.
Lockheed Martin is expecting to complete development of its miniature hit-to-kill (MHTK) kinetic interceptor for the US Army's Extended Area Protection and Survivability Integration Demonstration (EAPS ID) programme by August/September 2016, with a view to exploiting the MHTK technology for other opportunities.
Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman were awarded multi-phase contracts in February 2008, aiming to design and demonstrate a prototype missile interceptor weapon system for the EAPS ID programme.
The latter is a Science & Technology programme designed to advance the development of critical intercept technologies to meet a future US Army requirement for enhanced counter rocket, artillery, and mortar (C-RAM) and counter-unmanned aerial vehicles (C-UAV) roles.
EAPS ID is expected to inform the Army Cruise Missile Defense Systems (CMDS) programme office's decision on what technologies to progress as it draws up plans for its future Indirect Fire Protection Capability, Increment 2 - Intercept (IFPC Inc 2-I) Block 2 requirement.
The IFPC Inc 2-I is envisaged as a tactical ground-based weapon system designed to acquire, track, engage, and defeat UAVs, cruise missiles (CM), and RAM threats. The CMDS office intends to apply a block acquisition approach to provide the IFPC Inc 2-I capability. Block 1 will deliver point protection for C-UAV and CM Defence (CMD), elements of this Block include: developing the Multi-Mission Launcher (MML); and leveraging existing interceptors (AIM-9 type), sensors (Sentinel), and existing network (Integrated Battle Command System: IBCS). Block 2 adds a C-RAM capability, including leveraging the MML and the IBCS, as well as developing a new sensor or extending the capabilities of an existing sensor to support C-RAM engagements and developing a C-RAM interceptor.
Block 3 extends the Block 1 CUAS/CMD capability from point defence to area defence.
Chris Murphy, Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control business development lead for MHTK told IHS Jane's that in the near term the company will complete some rescheduled lethality and flight tests by September 2016, and transition MHTK off the EAPS programme to position it for the IFPC Inc 2-I Block 2 requirement.
Actually, MHTK (Miniature Hit To Kill) Greater than Mortar, Artillery!, and RPG according to Lockheed Martin Concept, made with LiquidMetal.

Lockheed Martin has integrated unique amorphous alloy canards, sourced from Liquidmetal Technologies, for the MHTK.
Run for the Hills the sky is falling.
My Guess is Malpractice Suits. Established American Industries, especially in the medical field, are reluctant to Adopt new procedures, maybe even their insurance won't cover it, i GUESS thats why European Adoption is vital to near term lqmt success.
OK you win! No mas, no mas!
You are far more skilled and adept at obfuscation and diversion than I can ever even imagine being.
With that, can you now curtail the pump-like tales of leprechauns, fairies, unicorns and dragons?
I mean ... Can we actually, maybe, possibly use this board to edify the investor base?
And once read does it mean its Un-Disputable ?
Well it is a consumer product, and it does have electronics ... May be!
Or wait ... Maybe someone could actually read the agreement and see what it says?
Gorgol i have 1 comment on the possibilities that LiquidMetal Tech can use to Expand its manufacturing capabilities, its one of the reasons why i decided to invest in lqmt ... JABIL. but I'm also glade to see what Dynacast has been doing and understand there is unknown potential there too.
Maybe Steipp jumped the gun or an NDA was invoked to keep things quite, maybe the Product or Certification was not ready and no Company wants to give away any manufacturing advantage it has. LOTS of Maybes, thats all i got for a CEO who seems Competent, i mean after all he managed to get Tim Cook to renew the agreement, and Engel to invest Millions on making it possible for bmg im to work
Apologies in Advance IF this information is already widely available and has been previously posted, but i HOPE you will all understand my desire to bring Up the Past and post an article based on Histrionics ONLY so as to express My Point Of View that the Future of lqmt Looks Good

Title: Liquidmetal Technologies Announces Record Number of RFQ's for Q2 2015

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 15, 2015-- Liquidmetal® Technologies, Inc. (OTCQB: LQMT), the world's leading developer of amorphous alloys, announced continuing progress in the rollout of its new technology with 101 RFQ's (Request For Quotations) received during the second quarter of 2015. This represents an increase from 36 in the prior quarter and an increase from 4 in the second quarter of 2014.
"This represents a significant milestone in the deployment of Liquidmetal technology," said Tom Steipp, President and CEO. "At this point, we believe that we have the right resources and processes in place to harvest sufficient quality leads every quarter, to move toward volume production next year and ultimately break even. We recognize that leads need to become qualified opportunities that then yield prototype orders and ultimately production orders. This takes time and we certainly don't expect every RFQ to turn into a production part, but the increase that we've seen in the front end of our process over the last several quarters, is truly encouraging."
Rare earth metals? Who cares, they're rare by nature-*1! Don't we really want / need to replace the heavier-use materials to make the real profit?
