Wow..some fallout going on over on BOT a little..
accusations of pumping and dumping and such..on that I will say I get a little excited sometimes and cheerlead a winner I'm in too..I don't see nothing wrong with that..heck..I like to see EVERYBODY make some ka-chingo while the getting is good!..BUT...well..I knew this trader once a few years ago who lived in LasVegas and he wanted me to join his very tight 'InstantMessage' group of traders..and his Yahoo club message board..he told me he and his close knit network of trading buddies 'front-loaded' all the time...what they'd do is they would really load up the day before on a certain stock, (the main members IMing each other of their buys)..then they'd act like they had just bought it on the club message board the next day. I didn't want no dealings with it. Thanks, but no thanks!.
Bills board is probably on the up and up..and I've followed him in on, and made money on some of his buys but I know for a fact such shenanigans goes on, on some boards.

Browsed thru some QuoteTracker portfolios and these had a minimum of 2X average volume(90da) Friday..they finished in the green..they're down from their 52 week high..and they did this on a short (1PM close) market day..

What method do you use to calculate your profit ?
1-Money taken off the table as income ?
2-Roll over for future investment ?
3=What period of time ?
4-Other ?

I realize that I will be paying CG on
profits come April. The 2K that I started
with was fun money. So my measure is my
Amritrade Liquidation Value. I put in
a one time deposit of 2K 15 Months ago
and have been learning about trading
since I started. I do not have any plans
to divert any money until I reach 20-30K
mark. I have a technique that I have been
working on (paper) for years. To make it
work I needed a bit more than 2k. Then
started to have success with the stock
picks on the lower $ range. So once I hit
the 20K mark then I plan to segment in 5K
chunks. Then will try different techniques.
I'm getting a later start than some. I
served 12 years in the military where it
was hard to make ends meet with a family.
Then have spent the last 6 years building
career and a small nest egg for retirement.
My wife and I have about 60K in retirement
accounts so far but do not want to put
at risk.
I got the kitchen pass for the 2k. So
trying to build gradually but aggressively.

My hat is off to you. I wish you continued
good fortune man.
I am a bit slow on this. Trying not to
gamble too much and don't have the time
working 60+ a week. So doing as much
research as I can then trying to pick
good longer term plays so I dont have to
constantly monitor. Once I buy I put in
a limit on the sale immediately. (1/2 at
the double and then evaluate the rest based
on the company.)
2pawn,
You are braver than I. If I lose everything
I have still only lost 2k since it was fun
money to begin with.
Hope you are not looking to tie all 21K in
the penny stocks. Good Luck.

I use a "measure stick" of "profit taking"
because all $ are rolled back in and subject to loss. Took $22k profit on 90k investment this callendar year, however some other stocks are down which erode that number. If you are an active trader there is a constant state of change.
I have been trying to maintain a dialog on this board with investors who are improving thier investment thinking (weekend reading material)

Hello All!!
Just found this site last week and I wanted to say I'm very impressed with all of the posts and valuable information contained in them.
I've been investing for about 3 years now with Ameritrade and have managed to break even in all my trades over that time. I haven't been able to find the right trading style for myself until this month. Wow. I sold AMD at 18 a share, bought at 3.5 a share. Yippeee! So I had some free money to put into a new stock. I choose IDNW at .06 something. Sold my position at .16, since I didn't want to be greedy. I've made a few rules for myself along the way. I only invest around $800 at a time, which allows me to do some dollar cost averaging should the price of a stock decrease. A lesson I learned from RELH. (What a killer!) Long story short... I've made about $3,500 this month with AMD and IDNW. I couldn't resist getting back into GLBT due to all of the posts. Never in the 3 years of trading have I had such a gain. Thxs much for putting me on track. Looking forward to the future!!! Thxs all for your wonderful questions and insights posted to the board.

trading style blah - it's all about the tools that you use. and if you know how to use them!
first thing i open in the am is
alphatrade.com L2 for pinks & OCTBB = freakin priceless why (alphatrade has the l2 setup with time an sales in a nice tight box. also i love the direction arrows it helps to keep track of mm movement/NITE LOL over time. (well worth the service) there intraday charts are a help WITH RSI, W%R plus they have a most active list for the top 50 pinks & octbb. comes in handy - used sometimes when i'm hunting
scotrade.com free streamer been useing it for years. i like it
ameritrade.com* i use there streamer why for there most active list for octbb stocks
set this little sucker to share volume updated every minute. the penny's are right there. if they trade you will see them.
the list goes on won't bore you. most day's 13 windows or more will be open.
barchart.com*** pro-go indicator set to daily - when the red passes over the green. buy my freind just buy!!!! ibzt for a example.
it seems the last few months have been pretty good. lot's of good little play's last few months. remember it doesn't last and when the market turns down. go on vaction i do - don't fight the current!!!!

Man..looking around there sure is a bunch to consider for a 'year' pick..I'm still working on that..but here's just one of many that might do good next week or so..I personally just like the looks of the chart on it..you guys ever wonder about stuff like this..this one has popped good the last THREE late Decembers and very early January's..I always wonder if it'll do it again..do stocks have 'anniversary' dates?..
:)
I had read somewhere that GLW and even LU were heavily investing in Nano..
speaking of GLW..what a chart on it!..
Note to self:..hmm..perhaps I should cruise the message boards and see who's been holding GLW all year and see what other stocks they have just now recently bought..heck..they might know something..
Leonard..I agree..HYTT's a very good possibility..but right now I'm licking my wounds on it..daggumit..I had been buying at .05 and re-selling at .06ish off and on all fall but the last time on that run to .07 I bought back in at .07ish thinking..
"THIS is going to be the BIG run"..NOT..I bit the bullet and bailed at .06..
Knowing me though..I'm going to try HYTT again..soon.
I've ran across several others I'm researching for my pick..a couple I may bet quite heavily on..at least more than a few hundred bucks worth..LOL..
Stay tuned!

As Nanotechnology Gains Visibility, Venture Capital Begins Coming In
By BARNABY J. FEDER
Published: December 22, 2003
Peter Thompson for The New York Times
Stephen S. Nazarian made a presentation for Integrated Nano-Technologies at NanoCommerce, a trade show in Chicago.
it may take sophisticated microscopes to see nanotechnology's products, but the money pouring into the field is hard to miss.
The industry gained new visibility on Dec. 3 when President Bush signed a law authorizing federal research and development subsidies of $3.7 billion over the four years, beginning next October. The Oval Office photo opportunity for nanotechnology, coincidentally, came the same day that Nanogen, one of a handful of publicly traded start-ups, disclosed that it had received a patent for a nanoscale manufacturing method that it said could be used to make advanced microchips and flat-panel displays. Nanogen's stock more than doubled that day, leading the sector higher.
Entrepreneurs say that the nanotechnology investment climate is warming up just in time to meet their growing capacity to put investors' money to work expanding research and bringing innovations to market.
"We are really close to the takeoff point where the industry could absorb a lot of money," said David Ludvigson, chief financial officer of Nanogen, a 10-year-old developer of tools for genetic testing that is one of the few nanotech start-ups to go public before the bursting Internet bubble soured investors on technology stocks.
Nanotechnology draws its name from the nanometer, which is a billionth of a meter, or 100,000 times as thin as a human hair. Individual molecules, tiny organisms like viruses and the smallest features of products like microchips operate in a nanoscale landscape.
Many industries used nanoscale products and processes decades before the term nanotechnolgy became a recognized concept on Wall Street. In the 1930's, for example, Kodak figured out how to insert a layer of nanoscale silver particles in its film to filter light. But nanotechnology did not catch the fancy of investors until the 1990's, when ingenious new software and computer-controlled tools expanded the possibilities for manipulating small-scale processes, designing new materials and accurately measuring their performance.
The new generation of nanomaterials is already taking commercial root. Nanoscale clay particles strengthen car bodies. Coatings made with aluminum-titanium nanoparticles add to the durability of boiler components and submarine periscopes for the Navy. Carbon nanotubes add stiffness to Babolat tennis rackets. And pants are being made with techniques that alter the structure of cotton to create nanoscale whiskers that make the fabric more stain resistant.
Analysts say that such developments are simply a hint of what is to come in nanotechnology, which the National Science Foundation predicts will contribute $1 trillion a year to the United States economy by 2015.
Such forecasts matter to policymakers, but pioneers with products to sell are focusing on the immediate challenges of building their businesses.
"The timing is good for taking our company to the next level," said Dr. David Reisner, chief executive of Inframat, a privately held company in Farmington, Conn., that uses nanomaterials in producing specialty coatings. After six years of existing primarily on research grants from the Defense Department, Inframat expects to raise $6 million to $8 million next year from venture capitalists or large private-sector customers to expand operations.
Dr. Reisner was one of numerous executives at NanoCommerce, a trade show in Chicago earlier this month, who said they planned to seek new investments in the coming months, in some cases tens of millions of dollars.
Integrated Nano-Technologies, based in Henrietta, N.Y., might pursue as much as $30 million from venture capitalists next year, said Stephen S. Nazarian, the company's spokesman. Integrated has developed prototypes of a portable system that quickly identifies biological agents like anthrax when they bind to fragments of DNA it mounts on a microchip. But Mr. Nazarian said that the company, which has relied so far on individual investors, thinks that potential business partners might be a better bet than venture capitalists to finance the next stage of its expansion.
"We have had a lot of unsolicited interest from Asian governments and potential distributors of products using the technology," Mr. Nazarian said.
Anyone have a Super pick for 2004?..one to buy now..
and HOLD all year..I've been doing quite a bit of thinking along those lines..
I'm thinking NANO, WIRELESS, and FUEL CELL technology will be the overall top performers for the next decade actually..
I sure would like to have a good one for the New Year..
