Yep, Excel, you are probably right. I use Google map to get directions without having the "locator" on. But, like you said, "they" will know where I am and what I'm doing, anyway.
I figure "they" know where the phone is even if the phone is off.
Paranoia? Maybe. Here is a true story from personal experience.
Way back around 1970 or so, when in university, a professor told me he had been interviewed by the FBI. Questions had been asked about me and several other students, at least as innocuous as I. This, apparently, was being done quite regularly even at my university even though there had been no riots or even demonstrations. It was a nice quite middle of the road kind of place.
So, if the FBI could spare a couple of agents to go around asking questions about a few students back in those days, I find it very easy to imagine someone sitting at a desk with several computer monitors. You or I would only be a click away from the main screen.
Excel, I don't mean this as it may sound, but, do you really need your phone to tell you where you are?
Hammer meet nail:
Political climate change is certainly evident in France
What to do. What to do.
The answer just might be to use what common sense there is left in the world and apply it. We know that climate change does occur…OK, adapt and continue to find cleaner sources of energy without turning off the lights. We can reasonably assume that controlling the climate to any great degree is probably near impossible…don’t bother. We know that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely…be aware.
Ebola spreads to major Congo city as vaccines a concern
By CARLEY PETESCH and CARA ANNA 7 December 2018
DAKAR, Senegal (AP) — The second-largest Ebola outbreak in history has spread to a major city in eastern Congo, as health experts worry whether the stock of an experimental vaccine will stand up to the demands of an epidemic with no end in sight.
Butembo, with more than 1 million residents, is now reporting cases of the deadly hemorrhagic fever. That complicates Ebola containment work already challenged by rebel attacks elsewhere that have made tracking the virus almost impossible in some isolated villages.

Basserdan, Please, don't shut this board down.
I have a few boards that I check each morning, this being one of the first, before I check the "news" outlets.
I appreciate your efforts to glean meaningful information from all the chaff that is out there.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

To the old question of "Why not BK and move on?", I speculate there was a clause in the settlement Plugger keeps referring to that "keeps the doors open". ???
No wonder they want to buy back shares.

Facts is facts. Sea levels have rose and sea levels have fell for centuries, millennia, even eons of time without any help from you or me.
I think the point is, the economic affect of rising or falling sea levels.
If I owned coastal property I wouldn't be too worried, personally. However, my son would be telling me to sell NOW and I would not think he was wrong.

“We are faced, not with a situation that can be overcome by rational or moral arguments, but with an unleashing of emotional forces and ideas engendered by the spirit of the times… The dictator State has one great advantage over bourgeois reason: along with the individual it swallows up his religious forces. The State has taken the place of God; that is why, seen from this angle, the socialist dictatorships are religions and State slavery is a form of worship. But the religious function cannot be dislocated and falsified in this way without giving rise to secret doubts, which are immediately repressed so as to avoid conflict with the prevailing trends towards mass-mindedness. The result, as always in such cases, is overcompensation in the form of FANATICISM, which in its turn is used as a weapon for stamping out the least flicker of opposition. Free opinion is stifled and moral decision ruthlessly suppressed, on the plea that the end justifies the means, even the vilest.”

Not sure I fall in line with that guesstimate. Of course, my guesstimate doesn't have the credentials his does.

From comments on Breitbart article Disney destroying Star Wars
below link is a comment that I found interesting and a good read.

Actually, under it all, Star Wars was American History. A bunch of Rebels who want liberty band together to fight the most powerful Empire in the galaxy (in 1776 it was the the most powerful empire on the planet).
Through skill and determination they defeat the menace so they can live freely.
THAT was the underlying message of Star Wars. It wasn't about 'underdogs', or 'social justice' or any of that crap - it was about diverse people fighting for LIBERTY against an EMPIRE that was evil because it wanted to control everything.
The Left think they are the Rebels. Nope. They are the Empire who want to control everything - it doesn't matter if it is intended to be for your own good - it is still coercive and liberty destroying.
Blindness and delusion keeps the control freak Leftist thinking they are the good guys fighting the Empire. They cannot see they are the evil empire, they cannot see their political opponents are the rebels with Diversity of Opinion (the only diversity that actually matters). Thus, they don't understand why the masses LOVED the films. Hence, they clumsily destroy the fundamental appeal of the tale, because they are just too blind and stupid to understand the true nature of the story (just as they are too blind and stupid to see the true nature of the system they want to impose using State force on everyone else).
Until Hollywood groks this then every Star Wars story will fall vastly short of the original trilogy. All the other stuff in the milieu is window dressing on top of this fundamental theme.
Once you see this it becomes obvious about the true nature of the original trilogy and how you'd re-capture its spirit. But Leftists are unable to see this. You'd need a Conservative or Libertarian screenwriter to get the sentiments just right (stealing ideas from historical events just as George Lucas did).
Civil war part un started 20 to 25 years after the issues began to simmer then boil, along with a new generation of hot-heads.
I don't assume to know when or if we will have another "civil" war but, we, as a country, are certainly heading in that direction.
United States Space Force. US Space Force. USSF. Sorry, just trying to wrap my head around the idea.
I really am perplexed about how to react to this news. As a long-time fan of science fiction from the days of Joseph Campbell to Robert Heinlein, this has been a favorite story line for me. But, their stories fell into the tried and true hero/do-gooder morality plays scenario.
The good guys always won.
However, I fear the USA might not win the resulting "arms" race for a number of factors. We would become the USSR of the 21st century. Perhaps, the final nail is about to be driven.

Or, will the certificates be all soft and Charmin?
Maybe they should declare a special dividend.
