Chico; Back ground info; Ford assembles F150 in Dearborn MI and Kansas City MO. (Other trucks at Avon Lake OH )
https://fordauthority.com/fmc/ford-motor-company-plants-facilities/ford-motor-company-production-status/
The planned Toshiba Battery plants are located about 25 miles west of Kanas City Missouri in Eudora KS. (Its already an EPA cleanup site which I suppose is one of the considerations in its siting.)
I have no idea if Ford and Toshiba are working together. It depends on what kind of battery they intend to make. Eudora is 4 or 5 counties away from Elk Creek. (About a three hour drive)
I really want to draw connections but I do not know that they are there at this time.
Doug; Chico; No...I think there is enough dissatisfaction with the delay on the kiln. No reason pile on! ( All I can think of is that L3 ordered that kiln from some factory in Eastern Ukraine?)

Neodymium magnets; Something else interesting; Here is an organization that says they are developing a small fusion (fusion) reactor that uses hydrogen/boron as fuel. Uses neodymium magnets in a small ceramic focusing chamber. (Claims Fusion since hydrogen atoms are combined and converted into Helium. No ponderous tokomak costing millions which uses arrays of computer tuned electromagnets to produce magnetic plasma containment fields! No radioactive waste products, no need to store waste products for geologic periods of time! ) I wonder if something else is happening or happening in a more controlled way since their lab has not been vaporized by the release of energy?
I will just say that I do not have enough physics and chemistry back ground to really assess this.

"
The global helium gas market is projected to reach a valuation of US$ 2.8 Bn in 2022. With demand growing at a 5.1% CAGR, the market size will reach US$ 4.6 Bn by 2032.
Helium is extensively used in the healthcare sector for various applications in recent days. Helium gas has physical and chemical characteristics such as high thermal conductivity, low solubility, and low density, which makes it an ideal element for many applications in the healthcare sector.
Along with this, helium gas is biologically inert and its neuroprotective capabilities make it effective for adjunct therapy in many respiratory diseases such as asthma exacerbation, ARDS, COPD, bronchiolitis, and croup.
It is used to cool the coil of wire and to drop the resistance of wire close to zero in Magnetic Resonant Imaging (MRI) machines. There are many coils of wire which conduct electricity and generate a strong magnetic field in MRI machines.
Helium Ion Microscopy is a recently discovered application in pulmonary MRI radiology and imaging of organs, which is expected to create opportunities for growth for helium gas manufacturers."

Chico; Frm your post: "The team also developed a metric to identify other metal oxides that can potentially be synthesized in a similar fashion. The computations also show that the DRX structure contains paths for fast lithium diffusion, resulting in high rate performance."
Here's hope it turns out to be Titanium or Scandium or Magnesium or whatever else they unexpectedly scrape up from the lower pits of the Elk Creek Development mines! PM. Another Titanium article at the Refractory Metals site you provided discussing use of Titanium-Iron alloy for Hydrogen storage and separation. (Since hydrogen can migrate through steel...) Like a lot of science it is still being developed, still...
Titanium Iron alloy Hydrogen Storage
Snip...."Hydrogen storage alloy is a new type of alloy that can store hydrogen. This kind of alloy can absorb hydrogen and release it under certain conditions. It is often used in large batteries, especially electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and high-power applications. There are three main series of hydrogen storage alloys: rare earth hydrogen storage alloys represented by LaNi5; titanium hydrogen storage alloy represented by TiFe; magnesium hydrogen storage alloy represented by Mg2Ni. Among them, due to the advantages of low price, and good performance stability, Titanium-Iron Hydrogen Storage Alloy is widely used in the industry."
The article lists other uses.
"Hydrogen storage alloy as a container for storing and transporting hydrogen"
"If hydrogen storage alloys can be used to separate, recycle, and utilize them, a lot of energy can be saved." (IF)
"Used to Produce High Purity Hydrogen: In order to produce high-purity hydrogen, hydrogen-containing impurities can be used to contact the hydrogen storage alloy. When the hydrogen is absorbed, the impurities are adsorbed on the surface of the alloy; after the impurities are removed, the hydrogen is released to obtain high-purity hydrogen."
"Hydrogen vehicles: The thermal efficiency of hydrogen is higher than that of gasoline, and there is no pollution after combustion, which makes the prospect of hydrogen vehicles very attractive. However, the weight of hydrogen storage materials is much heavier than the weight of gasoline tanks, which easily affects the speed of cars, and is still in the research and test stage.
Among the various hydrogen storage materials at present, the titanium-iron hydrogen storage alloy is the main hydrogen storage material, but its hydrogen storage requires higher temperature and pressure, and the hydrogen storage capacity is relatively low. At present, there are still some difficulties in the large-scale application of titanium-iron hydrogen storage alloys."

VANCOUVER, BC, Aug. 17, 2022 /PRNewswire/ - DESERT MOUNTAIN ENERGY CORP. (the "Company") (TSXV: DME), (OTC: DMEHF), (Frankfurt: QM01) From the President of the Company.
The Company is pleased to announce that it has acquired an additional 40 acres of land for future facilities in Navajo County, Arizona.
Desert Mountain Energy Corp. has made progress on the Gunnar Dome prospect and has set and cemented the production casing. The completion rig is scheduled for the end of August and the Company will announce the results once testing and sampling are complete.
DME was also pleased to speak at the Asia Pacific Drilling Technology Conference in Bangkok, Thailand. Desert Mountain Energy CEO and Executive Chairman, Robert Rohlfing, was the only speaker invited from an independent North American resource company. The conference focused on how emerging well technologies can facilitate sustainable practices in drilling and close the gap toward net zero. Desert Mountain Energy Corp. was recognized for its leadership in developing the near zero-carbon processing facility for noble gases and its work on discovering natural hydrogen.
Chico! Serious thanks for all your efforts! At this point I would be fine with Government debt even with all their hoops if it would get the project going! Guarantees are probably more likely.

Making oxygen with magnets could help astronauts breathe easy
SNIP......"NASA currently uses centrifuges to force the gasses out, but those machines are large and require significant mass, power, and maintenance. Meanwhile, the team has conducted experiments demonstrating magnets could achieve the same results in some cases.
Although diamagnetic forces are well known and understood, their use by engineers in space applications have not been fully explored because gravity makes the technology difficult to demonstrate on Earth.
Enter the Center for Applied Space Technology and Microgravity (ZARM) in Germany. There, Brinkert, who has ongoing research funded by the German Aerospace Center (DLR), led the team in successful experimental tests at a special drop tower facility that simulates microgravity conditions.
Here, the groups have developed a procedure to detach gas bubbles from electrode surfaces in microgravity environments generated for 9.2s at the Bremen Drop Tower. This study demonstrates for the first time gas bubbles can be 'attracted to' and 'repelled from' a simple neodymium magnet in microgravity by immersing it in different types of aqueous solution.
The research could open up new avenues for scientists and engineers developing oxygen systems as well as other space research involving liquid-to-gas phase changes.
Dr. Brinkert says that "these effects have tremendous consequences for the further development of phase separation systems, such as for long-term space missions, suggesting that efficient oxygen and, for example, hydrogen production in water (photo-)electrolyzer systems can be achieved even in the near-absence of the buoyant-force."....snip

Doug. Thanks! I think that at this strange time in US History it does not hurt to have gold or shares in a gold producer.
Doug; And of course Walter C! I will have a look!
Chico! As always thanks! Re: "Those are solid numbers... a little higher on the Capex than I expected but they are not done costing everything out. They expect to complete the F.S. in 2023 I would guess 2026 for production."
I am about 40 years out of estimating (Furniture/Casework manufacture.) but better to be high on those numbers and be able to report to shareholders and bankers that you spent less than expected than to come back later and say that you need more to complete a project. Given that this is a multiyear projection I hope their figures anticipate inflation!
While mostly in bonds, I realized that just about all my stocks needed 3 to 4 years to production. I am about to hit 70 and need something with a closer payback horizon. I liked ENDMF but sold it and purchased some DMEHF (Helium/Hydrogen/Noble Gasses). No debt owns its own rigs and should be should be producing this year . I am going to keep holding Search (for the benefit of my heirs!) but might reduce my holdings a bit to look for more current return. No change to my NioCorp holdings but along with the posters to the board am waiting impatiently for financing and Scot's blueprint trailer on site!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DESERT MOUNTAIN ENERGY HAS SIGNIFICANT SHOWS OF HELIUM ON GUNNAR DOME WILDCAT WELL
Vancouver, British Columbia — DESERT MOUNTAIN ENERGY CORP. (the “Company”) (TSX.V: DME, U.S. OTC: DMEHF, Frankfurt: QM01) From the President of the Company.
The Company is pleased to announce that it has encountered the largest number of helium and hydrogen showings from all wells drilled thus far, on its Gunnar Dome prospect in Arizona. Mass spectrometer readings during drilling operations clearly delineated multiple zones which had either helium, hydrogen or argon present. The Company is in the process of setting & cementing the production casing on the well. As is the Company’s previously stated practices, it has set and cemented multiple strings of casing, (which exceed all state regulatory requirements,) to isolate and protect all water zones, irrespective of their individual mineral content. The Company further anticipates it will have a completion rig for the well available, at the end of August.
“Our geologic and drilling teams continue to successfully drill our targets, cement and set production casing,” says Robert Rohlfing, CEO of Desert Mountain Energy Corp. “We look froward to bringing in the completion rig, sample and release the results of this well.”
Consistent mass spectrometer readings and the corresponding flow results visible at the surface are extremely encouraging and await final definitive testing for specific perforated formation results.
The geologic data from this well confirms the hypothesis on the possible trapping mechanisms of both helium &, hydrogen within this specific geologic setting. This information will be applied by our team to other specific settings. It further expands upon the previously held theoretical understanding of helium and hydrogen generation. It is the opinion of the Company, (based on confidential and proprietary geologic drilling data,) that the acreage controlled by the Company on the corresponding structures will ultimately confine the water-free commercial production areas for this geologic setting to the leases currently held.
With this press release, the Company will be in communications with its partner in hydrogen processing to explore where and how they can meld this discovery into other long-term ESG developmental plays. It is the Company’s position to monetize its newly discovered hydrogen assets, whilst developing the long-term opportunities which management feels may be the most advantageous to shareholders.

The company has achieved some vertical integration by obtaining a drilling rig and a heavy haul fleet. The haul fleet will bring in revenue this quarter.
The company has plans to drill additional wildcat wells as well as offset wells.
The helium crisis continues boding well for DME.
NTC; Tommy; "Frustrated? yes indeed! when months turn into quarters then years... milestones and goal posts seem to be on wheels with this project!!"
I understand the frustration on this board with (some) management and company performance and I am certainly included with this group. It seemed with the exercise of options, the purchase of land, and the Air Permit they were ready to turn the corner get financing and begin operations. I suspect that continued S/O loyalty primarily to the idea and unique potential of this project. (There is no question about the value of this mineral resource. (As evaluated by Chico, Grunt, BM, AO, PM, et al.)) Heck, I said 2 years ago that we would be a $1.50 US. by Dec 31. (Apologies to anyone who invested because of my statement!)
What is within management control what is not? Currently I wonder whether L3 or NioCorp chose the Vendor for the Kiln L3 is using and why Europe? Is the Vendor located in The Ukraine? Whose responsibility? Just Venting.
** My loose comparison to Oscar class... Rssn subs may go deeper (based on public knowledge) but their reported accidents show a navy with a lot of problems. Sending along a tug boat in case your AC Carrier dies in the water? Seriously?
(US subs might go deeper...actual capability of USN vessels/ aircraft? Mostly classified except perhaps for Harbor tugs and Barrack ships. )
Here are quotes that might apply to NioCorp's situation.

(One reason the US submarine fleet continues to safely and quietly return to the surface.)
NTC. Humm. NioCorp, the Oscar class deep running REE mine just waiting for the command to surface and lauch a money missle our way?
No movement until L3 gets the roaster. Mark may be hoping to present good news in September, maybe resolved and samples tested before then. (Good news would be financing and not looking for financing.) Lets hope!
Back to enjoying summer until the Royals and Yankees play tonight!
Information regarding Search Minerals from:
Search Minerals from:
Search Minerals’ focus is on exploration and development of the Critical Rare Earth Element District in Southeastern Labrador, Canada. This District is road accessible, on tidewater and contains significant quantities of those elements that are in short supply and considered strategic or critical due to their use in green economy technologies. Based on these attributes, the Company hopes to become a competitive, low-cost, environmentally responsible supplier of Critical Rare Earth Elements (CREE) to the global marketplace.
To accomplish this Search will leverage its scalable breakthrough Patented Direct Extraction Metallurgical Process and its highly accessible district-scale resources in SE Labrador to attract two important strategic partners; an investor to finance the bankable feasibility study for development of its FOXTROT and DEEP FOX deposit and an off-take partner whose long-term commitments will provide the stable income necessary to to access capital financing for projects of this size.
Search believes that success in securing strategic partners is linked to completing pilot testing of its patented proprietary Direct Extraction Metallurgical Process. The Pilot Plant optimization program using the patented Search Direct Extraction Process has been successfully completed in March 2020. The program produced both a 58% REO mixed rare earth carbonate concentrate and a 99% pure mixed REO concentrate, which will provide Search with more options to refine our products into the individual oxides. The production of the carbonate and/or the mixed oxide concentrate samples can be obtained, from either the Foxtrot or Deep Fox material. Search will continue to work with separation companies, refineries and potential off-take partners for further processing to high value separated rare earth oxides.
Search is currently doing metallurgy testing on Silver Fox material for Zirconium and Hafnium. Silver Fox contains Zr (Hf) values much higher than any other CREE resource (Foxtrot and Deep Fox) or mineralized zone (Fox Meadow and Awesome Fox) in SE Labrador.
https://endurometals.com/enduro-metals-commences-2022-exploration-program/
July 25th, 2022, Kelowna, British Columbia – Enduro Metals Corporation (TSXV: ENDR OTCQB: ENDMF FSE: SOG) (“Enduro Metals” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has commenced its fully-funded 2022 exploration program at its Newmont Lake Project in British Columbia’s Golden Triangle.
The primary objective of the 2022 exploration program will be to expand the mineralised footprint of the alkalic porphyry system discovered at Burgundy Ridge during 2021 (331m of 0.71% CuEq discovery hole – see October 18th, 2021 news release). The secondary objective will be to follow up on the geochemical sampling program at McLymont Fault and extend the potential mineralised footprint from 700m to 5,500m (see July 11th, 2022 new release).
Burgundy Ridge Project
A two-rig diamond drill program has commenced to test the extent of copper and gold mineralization along a 1,200m strike length. Multiple drill locations are currently being prepared, with the first drill rig having commenced operations, and a second rig due to start imminently.
The program has been designed to zone in on the centre of the porphyry system which is believed to lie to the north east of the discovery hole and test approximately 1,200m of the 2,700m system. Drilling is designed to test mineralization significantly deeper than previously drilled at Burgundy Ridge, given porphyries form as vertically oriented deposits up to kilometres in vertical and horizontal scale.
McLymont Fault
At the McLymont Fault project, a detailed exploration program is being finalized to follow up on 2021’s geochemical soil sampling program.
It is currently expected that one of the two rigs currently drilling at Burgundy Ridge will move to test the newly identified zone and follow up on drill hole GSC88-1 drilled in 1988 which interested 73.40g/t Au, 12.5g/t Ag and 0.13% Cu over 0.60m.
If successful, this would increase the footprint of the McLymont Fault mineralised system to 5,500m, comparable to the very large bulk-tonnage style gold deposits neighbouring the Newmont Lake Property (ex. KSM, Treaty Creek).
Cole Evans, President, CEO & Director, commented,
“The company is in a fortunate position to be fully funded for its 2022 exploration program following the C$10m private placement undertaken in May.
Burgundy represents a top-tier porphyry exploration target, and we are looking forward to a very exciting year with a greater understanding of the scale and significance of this mineralized system which shows many similarities to Galore Creek, some 35km to our north west.
While Burgundy is truly exciting, we must not forget that we have an excellent project in the McLymont Fault. The results of the recent geochemical sampling program suggest that we have a gold-rich project which has the size and scale needed to be economic in the Golden Triangle.
I would like to extend our thanks to the entire field team whose combined efforts have allowed us to commence drilling earlier than ever before on the property despite the fact that the snow base has been substantially higher than average.”
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, July 22, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Search Minerals Inc. I'm just about west of you over in JOCO KS. I know of at least one other KC resident who sometimes posts to the NIOBF board. (Happy it rained last night....we were really drying out! Enjoyed the new younger look of the Royals!)
I think Chico237 and Douginil do some of the best analysis on this board. I certainly pay attention to them.
Doug; I worked Downtown for 12 years. (Monroe/Lasalle Street) Nothing more fun than standing on an L Platform at 20 below zero F with a North wind off Lake Michigan!
Yesterday here in Kansas City it was 101F. Oh Well.
Chico; Thanks for all the time you spend collecting data, analyzing, and sharing your comments! It is a appreciated! (True for many other posters as well!)
MaxzMillionz, Stark12; Thanks for both of your replies regarding the Kiln!
Sounds like I was simplifying it down to a big rotating tumbler with a heat source and obviously there is a good deal more involved with the control systems. Thank you Both for your good information.
Semiconductors and supply chains: so many moving parts it is amazing that there has not been a problem until now.
Example...disruption SemiConductor supply chain, S Korea-Japan Trade Dispute
Tommy; Thanks for posting Jim's reply!
This being the United States I am surprised that they needed to go to Europe to purchase the kiln rather than manufacturing it here. Its not like we don't have any mining or refining going on on this continent. Surely there are a half a dozen companies in Chicago or New Jersey, or Pittsburg that could do specialty mechanical fabrication.
Well, I guess that I will go back to enjoying my summer such as it is. Enjoy yours out there by the Pacific Ocean and hope your team does well!

Frankfurt: QM01
VANCOUVER, BC, July 18, 2022 /PRNewswire/ - DESERT MOUNTAIN ENERGY CORP. (the "Company") (TSXV: DME) (OTC: DMEHF) From the President of the Company.
The Company is pleased to announce they have entered into an agreement with Beam Earth Ltd. to cooperate and define the commercial possibilities of the Company's sulphur-free hydrogen discoveries. Beam Earth Ltd. has expertise in cost-effective and innovative methods to produce hydrogen-related products which meld together with the Company's innovative helium processing facilities. This agreement not only encompasses current Company holdings in Arizona but will also be expanded into other jurisdictions.
"We look forward to working with a like-minded company that, by design, is also seeking to follow innovative design and ESG policies," says Robert Rohlfing, CEO of Desert Mountain Energy Corp. (DMEHF) "Beam Earth Ltd. has extensive expertise in the hydrogen sector and teaming up with them allows DME to stay focused on the production of helium while at the same time monetizing the potential of our sulphur-free hydrogen assets."
The Company has proven its ability to find both helium, hydrogen and other noble gases and anticipates that formal separate joint operating agreements will be put into place to cover the specifics for each jurisdiction as they arise. Those specifics will include, geophysical, the scope of the individual project, timing, drilling, testing, participation level based on results, near term and ongoing operational attributes. The Company's helium processing facility was designed to reduce power consumption by 55% and DME looks forward to the application of the same innovative design input into their hydrogen processing.
Wagner; I'll go with that! You are correct 1 billion (probably more now!) to finance! 5 billion--or more-to purchase! (My error, my driveby comment!.)
P.M. The Panasonic plant. Very interesting! The Kansas City area (KC KS and KC MO) Is pretty much centrally located East/West and North South. (I-70 & I-35) KC has several automobile and truck assembly plants (GM and Ford) which they might find attractive. DeSoto is inbetween Lawrence Kansas (Kansas University) and to Kansas City Metro. (Desoto is about a 20 min drive from my house. A Small town surrounded by a lot of fields.)
The West Bottoms (bottom lands located alongside a river, in this case the Kaw or Kansas River) is a massive complex or rail yards, trucking depots, and manurfacturers. There are several other smaller rail yards including North Kansas City and the East Bottoms (KCMO) and Transportation hubs in Gardener KS and Belton MO.

Bulk tonnage style gold mineralization has now been drill tested over approximately 400m strike length at the NW Zone and NE Extension.
Geochemical soil sampling delineated significant gold mineralization along strike of McLymont Fault, increasing the potential footprint from 700m to 5,500m.
The apparent scale and intensity of the anomaly is comparable to very large bulk-tonnage style gold deposits neighbouring the Newmont Lake Property (ex. KSM, Treaty Creek).
The sampling may explain the source of the “Boulder Train” which attracted explorers to the area in the 1980’s with historic float samples >100 g/t Au, but the source was never found.
See Figure 3 for summary of drilling results along McLymont Fault. Publicly accessible drilling database will be made available shortly.

VANCOUVER, BC, July 11, 2022 /PRNewswire/ - DESERT MOUNTAIN ENERGY CORP. (the "Company") (TSXV: DME) (OTC: DMEHF) From the President of the Company.
The Company is pleased to announce that the rig has been released to us and will be mobilized to our Gunnar Dome prospect in Arizona. The intended depth of this well is 4,500'+- and is designed to test all zones to the top Granite Formation. We will be utilizing our same successful drilling procedures, including multiple casing strings designed to protect all zones and the environment. Our geologic modelling suggests that the gas composition should contain high concentrations of nitrogen. At this point, we would anticipate initially running any commercial quantities of helium through the plant currently under construction by GENERON.
The Company feels that since this is a documented domal structure with closure on all sides the well has been situated to take maximum advantage of the trapping mechanisms of the underlying formations.
The helium processing plant construction continues and assembly by GENERON will be shipped to us via our trucking company upon completion. When finished, the plant will be situated on property that the Company currently owns and is not subject to any form of lease agreements. The Company continues to be contacted by numerous entities looking to secure some percentage level of helium from us when we go into production. As of today, other than for the USFCR documents to allow us to get paid the same day as transport, we have not signed any long-term contracts. We have multiple ongoing discussions with company's whom we have signed MDNAs and therefore, will not be making any comments concerning those negotiations or the methodology for pricing. It is our goal to have no account receivables in relation to helium production.
With regards to future hydrogen production, we have signed MDNAs and are actively working to develop a long-term strategy and look forward to having announcements on that sector within the next 30-45 days. This sector by its very nature must be considered as a long-term possible factor for the Company.
The Company was notified by Chevelon Minerals LLC., the owner of the McCauley family minerals, that a company which had previously attempted to lease from the family was making a claim that a valid lease with them was already in play.
The Company, early in its due diligence with Chevelon Minerals LLC., had been advised by the McCauley family that, after the material requirements of this prior lease had not been met, they had restructured their mineral ownership and placed the leases in question into Chevlon Minerals LLC. The representative also stated that they would work with the company in defence of the title and leases that Desert Mountain Energy Corp. (DMEHF) has with them. For the record, the Company has paid Chevelon Minerals LLC. in excess of $33,000.00 for the leases it currently has of record which includes the lease under wells 4, 5, 6, and 7.

Doug, Chico: Online Disinformation.....I think the story should be viewed against what China did to undercut Mountain pass. I can see China doing this whether or not it had much effect. I would trust Mandiant's tools and evaluation before Investor Intel's panel. (No, I have not looked at the video yet, will later.)
China has more influence with American Politicians and out right purchase of favorable Media coverage through out right Purchases of "Advertising." (Anyone from China posting to this thread? :) Investor Intel is a media firm I think?

Another source for that disinformation story.

Virginia-based Mandiant Inc., which was founded by former U.S. government security experts, said in a report that Toronto-based Appia and two other rare earth companies, Lynas Rare Earths Ltd. and USA Rare Earth LLC, were targeted by an online network called Dragonbridge, a front for the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
“Since rare earths mineral mining is of strategic significance to the PRC, and these entities are challenging the PRC’s global market dominance in that industry, our experts believe Dragonbridge is targeting this sector to maintain its advantage,” Mandiant wrote in an e-mail to The Globe and Mail.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I suspect USA Rare Earths was targeted because they have the only North American REE Magnet plant purchased from Hitachi REE Magnet and being moved to Stillwater OK. 0 (Probably a much better business enviornment in OK with a better work force. )

Also, a good news story from the Globe and Mail::

PM. One wonders what induces the Pentagon to work with foreign mining companies to import raw materials from Australia to process rather than a US based one with U.S. sourced raw materials. Of course if you are in charge of the White house and Pentagon and actually want to punish your "bad country" with chaos and damage...

Snip..."The Pentagon has agreed to fund the entire $120 million cost of a heavy rare earths separation facility to be built in Texas by Australia’s Lynas Rare Earths, advancing a program launched in 2020, the company announced on June 14.
Located on the Gulf Coast, the new facility will give the United States access to domestically produced heavy rare earths that are essential to industries such as electric vehicles, wind turbines, and electronics, according to the company, which is the largest processor of rare earths outside of China.
The Texas facility that landed Pentagon funding will process heavy rare earth carbonate mined in Australia, forming a production cycle that bypasses China entirely. Lynas Rare Earths plans to combine the upcoming plant with a proposed light rare earths separation facility that is being co-funded by the company and the Defense Department.
The project was first announced in July 2020 as part of the U.S. government’s strategy—under a 2017 executive order signed by former President Donald Trump—to reduce dependence on foreign imports of critical minerals. The Pentagon is also funding a heavy rare earths processing and separation facility in Mountain Pass, California." ...snip.
And we are still waiting for the presumed extension of Mark Smith's loan and the results of the private placement.
Of course, we are also all waiting for the results from L3, with their facuility picture displayed on the NioCorp website.
"Depending upon the outcome of metallurgical testing on REE recovery rates from Elk Creek ore, soon to be launched at a demonstration plant in Quebec, and on whether necessary Project financing is secured, NioCorp could produce separated rare earths as a byproduct, placing it at a competitive advantage vis-à-vis other rare earth projects.
