Okinawa was forcibly annexed by Japan ~around 1850, but it has a unique and VERY different culture. This uniqueness was enhanced when America and Japan used the island for the final battle of WWII, and Okinawa with NO military was caught in the crossfire, killing 1/3 the civilian population.
Since then, despite efforts to detach, the island has basically been a pawn, abused by both Tokyo and America.
Now with the grandson of a convicted war criminal, abe, a true Fascist in power, and with his "plan" abenomics, failing miserably (his puppet finance minister, kuroda, introduced negative interest rates, Friday), the normally complacent robotic population has become VERY restless, and abe has revoked article 9, the Constitutional amendment banning war md installed a new state secrets law.
abe, hopelessly, and insanely believes a war might unite the citizenry. he might VERY well be right, but China/Russia has far superior troops and MUCH greater discipline amongst the ranks (not to mention, creativity)
The situation is tenuous to say the least.
In an effort to conserve my remaining posts, if You ask for further detail, I may sometimes return to an post that is still editable and append comments, there.
I have only four posts remaining for this 24 hours.
Am I still maokin or my newly dubbed handle "napkin?"
I don't understand what You mean by attacked in the following posts - there have been no military attacks that I know of since WWII. They have been continually attacked VERBALLY for trade policies and lack of remorse for barbaric acts during WWII.
Hi, Tom - nice to be here - I've been here before, , and always liked it. I have only five posts remaining today, so with Your kind indulgence; can we squeeze subjects in as much as possible.
I'm afraid this may be considered OT (but it IS in direct response to a post) so I'll post it anyway:
America flanking Russia to the west and China to the East has forged an unprecedented alliance to the former enemies. China has historically viewed war as a last resort, ONLY. Now, Chinese polls show Chinese citizenry 60% in favor of war, still smarting over Japanese atrocities in WWII.
From my 10th floor apartment windows, I can see warships and planes winging each other over the Kerama Islands ,nearly daily.
Japan is sadly mistaken if they think America WON'T abandon Japan should War break-out. America is badly overstretched in wars on many continents and hasn't the man (woman)-power to engage in such a disaster this would be.
Japan's false sense of bravado im(NOT SO)ho opinion would lead to a defeat of enormous proportions (and Japan hasn't even figured out how to get Fukushima-Daiichi under control yet).
Thanks for the response, 123Tom: New "My Number" system just installed in Fascism part XXXX in japan. All residents ordered to have them.
I'd rather thank You now (with all due respect) - Thanks Etrade.
Thanks for the URL, Etrade, but I get a "Safari can't find server" message when I try to access the article
Thanks, Tom - maybe best to just wire transfer any birthday fund and my monthly pittance of social security to amiritrash; and let it sit.
Your summary is simply sublime, and moreover pretty much covers REALITY.
I presume You discount precious metals as a "safe haven."
Thanks for the response, Power. Thanks to Millstone, I have some of the July 5's, and although I have them about a dime higher than Him, I think they'll be good.
One of my jobs, keeping me above water in this horrid economy, is medical editing. As such I have contact with a plethora of MDs. I've spoken to ~ a dozen, and they project no reason to "give a second thought" about AVXL. The doctors in Okinawa are notoriously behind the times, and don't think much about doing anything differently than what they've been doing since they entered their respective fields; and although, I've never gotten confirmation, from my personal experience with them, I've come to believe there are no periodic competency tests.
There have been numerous times, when I, a layman, have started to work for an MD, who wants to submit to an American journal that when I start my internet researching, I find the subject of his paper is horribly archaic, and technology has superseded his work. He has to read my findings and start over, and likely I'll get the job several months down the road.
I've printed out some of the details of AXVLs protein unfolding approach, but most seem skeptical that it may work. In an effort to enhance interest, I've printed out the Scientific Advisors, but when I try to show them the prestigious credentials they seem both unfamiliar with the institutions and the credentials, I'm sad to say.
Maybe mainland doctors would be more interested, but I have no access to them (language difficulties would compound the problem, anyway).
MY next-door neighbour is a young, eager, bilingual biotech researcher at a neighboring hospital/research center. He, too, seems largely disinterested.
I have a relatively small group of FaceBook Friends (quality over quantity kinda' person), and I have periodically posted about AVXL, emphasising the concept of ethical investing. I can't push these friends too hard, but have received no interest, despite one VERY (VERY, VERY) rich friend, who lost his Mother-in-law (may She r.i.p) to this horrible disease, and even he isn't interested, again, I'm sorry to say.
I wish I could provide a more upbeat response, but it's sad, but these are the facts of my endeavors
.
Thanks for the info Oneflew - I think the results will be good - being unconventionally "religious," I'll say positive affirmations for Your options play; as that would benefit us all.
Power, of course, I'd like to see this as soon as possible, and I'd move mountains if I could to see what we ALL desire.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, however please feel free to address me as "packet." I kinda' like that name. On another board, where I'm not very well liked, the rocket surgeons have deduced that I'm Chinese and use various racial slurs to try and intimidate me, when the simple truth is "moakin" refers to my first and last initials followed by "okin" to refer to where I currently live.
PS - Any suggestions on option plays on AVXL would be GREATLY appreciated - promise NO repercussions should the play go south.
And back at You, CB.
I Love those who have helped guide me through this rocky shoals, and know that we who have stuck together will be richly rewarded.
Chef, I will gladly be Napkin, now and forever. Napkin was like a special birthday gift, and I DO appreciate it.
Yes, this board was lively today, but WHEN not if this baby launches, we'll be reliving the halcyon days of my youth and rock this board like never before.
My next to the last post I'm allowed for today: Thanks Tom for Your eloquent explantation and expectations.
AND I DO agree: "Good posts from folks today. ...funny quips too."
"before the next Stock Market CRASH comes." I presume You know that japan has just adopted negative interest rates (and MANY speculate that this will soon be the case in america, too).
The usd/yen jumped more than two points today, and that is VERY unusual.
Thanks Scott - I did mean AVXL options, but I certainly will look at Your suggestion: MUCH appreciated.
Thanks One flew. My first birthday present: Having my handle called napkin LOL @ me.
Millstone was kind enough to turn me onto some options that I am confident will be just fine in the future.
Monday is my birthday - Anybody kind enough to contribute to a happy birthday with some options choices.
MANY TIA
OneFlew: It has absolutely NOTHING to do with religion - it has EVERYTHING to do with morals, principles, ethics, and my responsibility to the world and future generations.
regardless of the lucre to be made I will NOT invest in:
"defense" stocks
armaments makers
private prison companies
Taser and the like
etc. ad infinitum ad nauseam
I, OFTEN, refer to this stock as "Ethical investing at its finest."
A dream come true - a stock that can benefit the world and we, too.
The daily to the right below looks like a pretty good close to me.
"A substantial event needs to happen before the SP will get some solid underpinnings: an NIH grant for $50-100 M; a partnership with Big Pharma with favorable terms; or, a long shot: designation by FDA for 2-73 as a breakthrough drug."
ALL of these WILL happen in good time. Patience is the key when You've hit the motherlode.
I NEVER wear a shirt at home. I'll be happy, there, Raja.
Welcome back, Raja - Hope to see You in Karnataka, when this does what it IS destined to do.
Gotta Love anyone who speaks: "thusspakezarathustra" and "oftheirego."
So it's not only me, C - thanks for confirmation.
I don't know, maybe it's me, but do these sound like contradictory statements:
"I have 26500 she not selling a share"
"Sold some today"
The "international" number is not in effect from Japan.
Thanks Xena.
Calling from Japan, including waiting time costs a ridiculous amount.
Thanks North - Mike already solved the problem. When ameritrash finally responded, I curtly told them my message board solved the problem in ten minutes; a problem that took ameritrash nearly FOUR hours to address.
Thanks, Mike. You're my hero of the day. They're back.
Thanks Mike - I've rebooted twice, but will try again.
Thank SJ - Any ameritrash users lose their streaming quotes?
Thanks Scott. I cn see that, but streaming quotes have disappeared - the rest of the page is as usual.
Have contacted ameritrash, three hours ago, and an hour ago - From past experience, I'll get a response by Friday or never, whichever comes sooner.
Thanks, Dolphy, but I DO want to see streaming quotes (and want to know if I'm the only one having this problem with ameritrash).
No steaming quotes on ameritrash - Anybody else lose their streaming quotes?
Thanks Dolphy, but wasn't really talking about the "Tuesday Syndrome."
Think I've seen this scenario before - maybe each and every day.
"It will be too late by then"
"I think those are great numbers and agree with your assessment"
Is it just me, or do these two comments seem tOTALLY contradictory?
No offense taken.
Say what?
