Inspiration - with respect and via sharing your frustrations
I have no insight or information into CEO specific failings - in part because we simply do not know what has happened or is happening behind the scenes (what he has achieved) and whether if a huge KM contract arrived tomorrow, all or most of our/ any criticisms would be on the slide
Nor do we really know how many ways there are or were of skinning this cat : surely the main skill or task has been to focus only on the technology and its responses to the processes designed - not by Mr Bigger - into making it a commercial proposition.
what real choices has he had along the way ? ones that we can properly see and judge from here ?
when the overwhelming priority has to be the partnership with the client, what shareholder-friendly leeway has he had ?
I guess he was not put forward for his PR or oil skills : he was more likely favoured for his ablity to strategise, to focus and to utilise his experience in the banking world
He has kept the company in existence - an achievement not to be taken for granted - and one which has been inseparable from a strong bond with Temple University and a clear and loud belief in the technology
- and at times these factors have more or less been all we did know
I don't claim to understand the obsessive secrecy and NDA domination but presumably with a new and disruptive and green technology, every detail is salient and financial change transcends it all
John V - well, so what that he is not a..what ? Ph D in Engineering ? He is just one of the people who has had to learn
about this new technology : no-one could have had the relevant
experience nor an advantage over John
Maybe he was not so keen on being a policeman ? Maybe being
a policeman was ideal training - eye for detail etc
what is certain : a lot of discipline and patience has been
needed, so both of them have had suitable careers before this challenge was handed to Gregg ...who presumably chose John to stay on..
hi Zerosnoop - a question for you
re how much money QS has..in order to keep going
(and while this low share price would seem to rule
out Options/ Warrants etc ...the last ones being 18 or
19 cents i think)
I had a look through one of the 8k's (August) but I could
not find the estimated date ( in 2017 I think) of the cash
running out....but my first guess is that one document said
March 2017..
do you remember this date ?
where would you look to find the most recent clarification ?
thanks very much if you can find the time..
Happy New Year
in the debate re COC (is it KM or TC ?)
if it is KM - therefore disappearing in the documnetation from the other foregrounded stuff - I am wondering if in the background K M has become a kind of permanent testing zone/ partner..testing out
all the permutations that their overall production offers..
if so, what a great platform for a new product..
with PRCI, Temple and KM..at ground level
oh - and Mr Zinke up at the top
not a bad cross section for 2017..
Happy New Year
especially to the Longs who
can still remember when and why...
bogus
.'incepted' or not, the progress with KM
has been 'under the lease agreement'
hi Zerosum - it is not just the absence of news/8k re
a returned and failed AOT
the success of AOT has been made very clear over a long time ie
the condensate line is central to the KM adoption of
AOT..whether via the 'systemisation' of AOT on its condensate
line..and the creating of a User's Handbook..that would all be
rather pointless if the AOT had been returned
or more indirectly, there is the preparedness to deal with
orders of 20 or more units..
none of the news would sit with a failed AOT ..whether with KM
or another client
The absence of a sentence saying, to the effect, 'we KM still have one' is a cheap or spurious point re what no client or partner would ever publicise, or be expected to..
" we have initiated an outbound sales strategy"
presumably this means that there are now people
who specialise in going out to garner interest
from selected areas..pro-active etc...
= more employees ?
= making sure that no one client gets ideas ...?
And surely that can't be another task for
John Valenti..!
I agree Truethat ..it is confusing..there seem to
suddenly be two means of progression...
the latest projects are involving all the new phases
while the older ones are now ready for lease agreements or
purchase orders ..but while they could not have been through
these latest phases..unless they went through earlier versions of them
the KM condensate line has surely been tested to the fullest
necessary extent..
frustrating to end the year with this uncertainty about the
time frame of purchase orders etc
what is an outbound sales strategy ?
and Truethat - yes, if KM have now added to their
range of interests with XL, it begs the question of the
purpose of one client remaining anonymous in two areas...and split into two separate parts of an Update...,
thinking aloud, why on earth can't they say 'our partner in
condensate has now asked us to work on an XL...'?
why allow even a hint of a suggestion or construct a suggestion
that KM has faded ?
it seems logical that KM remains in the most advanced group..
i am confused
truethat - we have no idea which company is pro XL
it sounds unlikely that KM would switch from
the systemisation of the AOT on the condensate
and digress to a new project
the best part of today's Update is the last main paragraph
- the previous paras are closer-up looks at projects which are
still at the testing phase...but the last para refers to those
who are most advanced ..and via whom QS are pursuing Lease Agreements or Purchase Orders
My guess is that KInder Morgan is in this category
it is a strange document, keeping the best to a very dry and
condensed last paragraph...that is where the first news will be
coming from..who knows when ? the hard work appears to be done
after the revalued/ re-engineered AOT's have been a success
??
any time now ??
Hi Zerosum & Co - with regard to the lab tests
as part of the sales cycle..
do you think that these tests will now be integral to all potential contracts ? giving each client a greater chance of that 'bespoke' management via AOT..?
Or dare we hope that there are some negotiations and collaborations
that have already moved beyond such a requirement ?
e.g. re the ongoing systemisation of the KM condensate line - that progression would seem to have included whatever the lab tests offer to the newer clients ....
it seems obvious that these first initiations and trials should differ from the eventual and standardised sales cycle..
But nothing would surprise me caution-wise
SCADA - can someone explain this system in more
detail? is it just an integrated measurement system ?
I am wondering if QS statistics being on the SCADA
is in itself an achievement...it kind of means that
QS is already IN ...
i invested in a developing technology
and it is developing very well
I am still hopeful of a Christmas present
FML - I refer you to Whackyposts on Art of Selling
Surely an entirely new kind of pipeline network
is not sold or not sold by one kind of salesman
as opposed to another kind of salesman
Our Ceo has clearly never been primarily a salesman
but his focus and priorities have to be concerned only
with a sale - what else is there ?
the real importance is in the process ...process which equates with respect for the technology...for thoroughness in getting everything right...respect for the processes which the client has chosen..
deference to the processes that such a large investment requires..
the technology will sell itself..helped by processes which further but quietly show how effective it is....the sales will not depend on how the CEO presents it or on the presence or absence of
certain qualities in his manner of work
can one CEO make a large corporation - which has already committed to the process very substantially - change its pace of
progression ?
all the parties have long known what is at stake ...it would be very strange if Gregg was to suddenly start with a new style..
as if sales suddenly needed more emphasis..
??
The Shareholder Meeting : what are the rules
about these meetings ?
when is the latest it can take place this year/ time ?
I like the idea of the ONLINE format for this year
so Moorea9 - you did not feel able to raise your bid ?
I will sell you some shares....where can I send
the envelope with my best offer within ??
Jaymark - i think that the work with K Morgan
is as full as possible with solid work in the
field ...ie perhaps it is significant that KM# is
not cited as being keen on the portable site
KM has already done all that kind of work on the condensate
line and the SCADA system etc has been at the heart of
the progressive systemisation of AOT ...they appear to have been
testing and installing as they progress in the field ..
if QS is ready to make batches of 20 AOT's - or even
larger orders - doesn't it have to be KM which is way ahead of
the COC or any other potential client .. ?
the million dollar question is whether KM is ready to
go public and to commit with anything less than 100 %
conviction..ie based on the theory that there could always
be further refinements which are needed after the event..but will KM be confident that these refinements can be fully allowed for
in the contract ??
Happy holidays to you also
good points Zerosum : saving money equals
making money and I suppose they will all be
competing to save as much as the next one..
hasn't the price of oil risen over $50 recently ?
what would be a more normal price ?
I wonder if there is a M & Acquisition trick still
up the QS sleeve ...it would be great to get a sense
of what the famous billionaires have been up to ..
of their purpose in it all
two more little/ big steps or big/ little
and these intermediate steps mean that every word of every Update
can be quoted ..as background work moves into foreground, the Updates have more and more context
these documents are exactly what they present - the demonstrations
of confidence that mean this technology in its many forms (and its growing number of forms) can be proudly presented in every part of the world as a real means to huge change and savings..
As we always thought or hoped, AOT has always worked and worked very well - it has just taken time and patience to adjust first prototypes to field conditions and then to be improved again..
if there were no modifications and refinements..THAT would be
implausible and worthy of suspicion
well done CEO and Project Manager and is there one more
for Christmas ?
So if Trans Canada or Enbridge are leading the way with the portable on-site testing, what does that leave for Kinder Morgan
to lead with ??
selling to who ? to a planet ?
this is not exactly about selling anything that depends on perception or mood ie on clever marketing or presentation..
did anyone sell AOT or anything to Temple University ?
I don't think so : it was as clear as day that the potential was there and that it was realisable through technology that was within reach : the sale was implicit
But how about the companies who have participated very substantively in the sales process ..? ie to Trans Canada or Newfield or Kinder Morgan ?
Was that a sale that got the first of them involved ? and which has got more of them involved and kept them involved ?
well, it was not a rejection that started the ball rolling..
Could they have known enough at the beginning to reject the whole thing ? surely so .
What level of confidence was needed at the beginning about the eventuality of a sale - given the process and its costs that lay ahead ?
A lot of confidence was the pre-condition : and the longer the process and the refinement , the greater the eventual benefits that were expressed by the confidence that started it all
amen
a lot of work has been done because the sale was implicit
the art of selling
was supposedly developed mainly in the USA
however, is an entire and new industrial process dependent
on the right person using the right skills at the right time ?
the right person with the right 'sales' personality ?
I don't think so - and I don't think that selling on such
a large scale in any way relates to the rating of a person's conventional sales skills - precisely because the product being sold could only have a realistic amount of delays and complexities
much more important than any personal performance is the respecting of the client and the respecting of the relevant processes - whether the process of technical improvement or the process of the NDA..
Gregg is not a showman or a publicist - but his kind of focus
and priority is a good complement to the nature of what he is selling..
he does not have the time for anything other than the truth
represented by the technology and this means that the sales will follow its technological performance, not his presentation of it
well said Zerosum...
There has never been any good or substantive reason for
listening to and dealing with anything or anyone outside of
the filed documents which are legally bound to represent
a truthful position ...
and we have dealt with the use of the word 'proven'
in such documents
but now we have more documents getting more specific and
this is great : another client coming out into the open; clients all working at different paces ; Enbridge or Trans Canada and will this prompt Kinder Morgan in any way ?
The SHM ; I am sure in my mind that the online or new format SHM
was suggested for this year in part because Gregg wanted to signal a more flexible format and one that allowed for the possibility of a material event to create a date for the meeting..after all , how absurd to schedule anything if it could pre-date a big and historic piece of news ?
How long does it take to organise it on line ? and would such a format stop a mixed event ..eg a celebration / party at Santa Barbara with investors worldwide able to join in ??
i like my ideas sometimes !!
hi Zerosum - i guess you are up to speed now
and have not missed anything !!
The Final Report being the main substance - the
long winded sentences telling us that the $50,000
test results are being dedicated to sorting out a
whole network/ parameters...
fingers crossed for the KM project to steal the
limelight and create a date for a celebratory SHM
excellent: a field test re the whole pipeline
getting AOT ..in black and white..
$50,000 and then specifications for the first
application of AOT to the entire network
Snoop - can we have this in large red letters ??
fantastic
and excellent that it is not Kinder Morgan
eeny meeny miney mo
Enbridge or Trans C ?
Number of QS employees : 0
I like the new look I Hub and its increase of
easily available information
and the monitoring of trading
Zero employs zero people ?
What category does John Valenti (Project
Manager) fall into while being singled out
for praise ?
and while who does all the paperwork and other low
level admin ?
Thanks as always Snoop
Nothing more is needed here than to repeat the
documents that refer to the hard won progress
of a new, disruptive technology seeking adoption
by an entire industry
we have had to rely less and less on signs or hints
and more and more on concrete details and facts
which cannot be legally invented or falsified
unlike the 'stuff' written here
let's hope that the ongoing vagueness re the SHM
and its date is related to the ongoing uncertainty as
to when there will be a material event to use the SHM
to celebrate..
Zeppelin : it is indeed very simple
Ockham's Razor is about the resolving of dispute.
The resolution could not be easier via the short
statement that NOTHING has contradicted or invalidated
the Updates.
Furthermore, the Update is on its own as a public and filed document
and no such category can be applied so far to a negative response to it - thoughts and allegations on a Message Board are **** in the wind
to offer your personal input here and as an option in the dispute
further proves the main point
more of the same : rubbish
in a word, and a polite one : rubbish
that is student-like conspiracy-based
rubbish
Zeppelin : Ockhams Razor as properly applied
is this :
There is no reason to doubt that everything said within
the Updates is true.
Also : to accuse any individual or organisation of Fraud
is a serious accusation and requires proof - and you have
none of it
Finally : it is ill advised to misuse learned precedents to advance what is bogus : the Razor cuts both ways...be careful when you tap it out
FML - wow, those are tough extremes
i.e when he succeeds, you will sing his praises
until then, he should be replaced !
As for the benefits of an oil man in his place - well, it
is not his fault if that background per se would have
elevated the share price ...
ie what would an oil man have
had to say or been able to say or do that Mr Bigger has not
said or done ??
We all concede that PR and communication have not been his strong suits but the whole PR element has been a farce or simply totally
compromised and incongruous almost from the beginning
Investor Relations has functioned more than Press Relations - and we have had the farce of non-events via Cecil and others announcing the Big News of a new PR rep..who then fades from sight
Then there is the fact that the wrong kind of Press can be counter productive and creates more problems for everyone
With the PPS, well, either you concede that only a contract will move it up or you don't ; in other words, no amount of PR, slick or otherwise, can delay or disguise the need for that material
event - so what on earth is the point of doing anything other than working towards that material success ?
Finally, until the first contract, we have the players, the shorters, the market makers and so on - they are systemic, the court vegetables as Shakespeare might call them - and if you accept that they act independently of all other considerations, then there is SFA that any CEO can do about them
As Tedco might say, our CEO has been all about the substance of what the technology can do and what it can do within the due process as established as a matter of substance with the clients
the share price has had to be subsidiary to that process and to be subjected to whatever markets can do
but within that apparent helplessness, which is short term, the substance has in fact been free to get on with getting ..er..bigger and better in the long term
Jaymark - how on earth do you know what KM is
or is not doing or, more pertinently, how can you
not see that KM is clearly doing more and more and that
we are being told more and more about this forward
momentum ?
First there was the basic testing of AOT, then the
impedance issue which caused some re-design and re-testing,
then there was the focus on condensate and the use of the
SCADA system, the creation of a User's Manual, then the
ongoing deployment and systemisation of AOT on the
KM condensate lines ....and finally we have heard of
QS being ready to order and provide batches of 20 AOT's
or more - not forgetting the constant reference to ongoing
progress in general and with KM as a partner with whom
plans included a 30 day trial of the system
if that does not represent clear and growing commitment
by KM , then what does ? And although that includes no
statement by KM, they would be down on QS like a ton of
legal bricks if there was one false word from QS..
what on earth can be said against our CEO about this, or
against KM ? It sounds like KM is very very keen and is doing
whatever it realistically can...
We have heard from an engineer familiar with KM that to change
one valve on a KM line was subject to 4 months of scheduling and
then took 2 hours to effect..
just imagine therefore how long it takes to change the operation of an entire pipeline ?
and they will say nothing until it is all completely ready
no running commentary
thank you 1300steps :
I think his very hard work -including making STWA/ QS
Sox- compliant - has covered all the main bases
he has reduced/ minimalised costs and secured the company's
position by focusing on the what he can control and the battles he can win...
if you know that the technology works, as he must do, then there
is no such thing as fluff...just quiet progression with multiple clients..and extrapolating on it..
as for the SHM , is there any point of a meeting if there is
no material event which can be talked about ? everyone getting
together to share another meaningful hush ?
Sorry but I think the anti-Bigger stuff is
misplaced ..
He cannot control the pace of developments within multi -billion
dollar corporations - in fact there have been many things he cannot control for a very long time , very important things and all of them to do with the share price,
so I fail to understand at what point the line is crossed whereby
he suddenly deserves the rougher stuff - when a shareholder is in a bad mood, short of money, what ?
either he can control these things or he can't : which is it ?
He has never been a CEO to prioritise communication .ie with a running commentary..but he obviously works damn hard and he does it without pissing off those crucial first clients who have nurtured the AOT...
i wonder about the Merger & Acquisitions as being a failure of his..and I wonder about those billionaires...but he has appointed several Directors who can advise him on issues where his background has not prepared him...
apologies - perhaps we could all benefit from this wire
or source of information ..as you have ?
It seems that the on-site/ KM information is leaking
out to the press ?
where could we see this confirmed ?
perhaps you could re-write that APJ ?
when you have recovered your composure ?
brought on by that awful series of shocks
i guess ?
perhaps you could share which wire you are
referring to ...and how we could all benefit
from these latest developments ?
do you have a link to post ?
Thanks Flubug - I did not see the Big Short
movie yet but I will try to ...
The Flash Boys reminds me of a recent case of a British guy
sent to prison for 10 years.. in the USA I think : based in his room near Heathrow he and his computer had fooled various systems into believing that huge share purchases were imminent or under way....with the net effect of making or defrauding many millions..
a bigger variety of effects is possible , I assume, when people work in teams...
driving down a share price would be child's play..
no doubt there are players in every office who go in for the
more daring moves
QS must be a sitting target for those who know about it..
thanks Flubug...I will be buying several copies
of a Michael Lewis book ....for Christmas stockings
of doubting friends and family..
any title you recommend in particular ??
Of course Jaymark - but the news has got
better and better and thus we have the essence
of the market's handling of small / new / penny /
commercialised scientific progress...
find the logic ..it has to be there somewhere
and we all know the company is not about to sink that no-one posting here can really
believe in the global fluff and fraud angle
so I am going with the Flubug angle and
will be buying that book for Christmas ..several
copies ..for my doubting friends...
oh wow ..it's 0.358 or 0.453 or 0.521..
and will it be 0.3 and does this make bad or untrue
arguments true ?
whatever s.p is now , none of it connects with " Bigger " or
KM or the usual mantras
it is about the indulgences of market makers and their
access to 0.01 % of the shares
it's exciting
let's see if it gets to a million
