but he just said they thought they could get more out side the SA process.
trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear
he is trying to make it sound positive by saying that the interest in part of the patents is more positive then selling the whole thing.
the issue is they never got a bid on the whole thing so how can he allude to that the sum of the parts is worth more then the whole thing
further i would like to hear when they decided to stop the process. it obviously stopped prior to this release. i wonder how much prior
mister well said
it is amazing that certain people love to benefit from other people losing money.
we were wrong, but to have nitwit, romulus, and dmiler to sit here and pound their chest that they knew more then everyone else is amazing.
i would like to say what goes around comes around, but that would be playing into their hands as i would be acting like they did.
they wont go away, just put them on ignore
There was no reason (at least one that was obvious to us) while the stock went up bascially 5 bucks or so last week.
same goes for no reason why it is going down today.
Stay firm
my etrade shows down 1.31
i am guessing i know the answer already, but anybody check CAFC?
it is 11:11 and nothing has been posted and i know Gamco and Fish are usually very timely with their updates
lets hope we dont need that Truck driving school Goose talks about
is there another link? not much talent in those pictures.
i hope it was not one of our partners using some of those girls to spark interest.
by now we would have heard from a poster about CAFC. Anybody know anything?
huibs
I cant believe i am sticking up for dmiller, but you are wrong about the Atlantis
We go there as a family twice a year, once in january when Jordan had his golf tourney there and again in march for spring break with the kids.
While the casino there is small, there are some huge players there that come from all over.
Just go out back where they park the yachts and you will see the kind of money that vacations there.
that does not mean i know he talked to someone who knew about idcc, but it is plausible that someone with a 100 million vacations there.
Huibs
You have to stop even responding to Richard Cranium Romulus.
All he is here for is to spread fear
nicmar
thanks for the reply. I could not respond since I am a poor share cropper and cant afford the subscription (not really but sounds funny)!! lololol
Since i profess (unlike the rommy) to know nothing about IP that idcc possesses, 15 posts is more than enough for me to continue to keep rommy on his toes
i did very well with aug and sept calls when the run-up came, however i bought 90 and 100 december calls that are now worth nothing so i gave profit back.
keep the faith
poch
your right and frankly i did the same and i held on to the stock because of alot of that, but i did not sell in 1999 when it went to 82 bucks and did not sell this summer went it went to 82 again because i heard the same thing how this was going to the moon and he we are at levels before the announcement.
I am absolutely not blaming my lapse in judgement on stock cheerleaders. We need to make decisions on our investments based on our own due diligence and not simply what we read on a message board regardless of how knowledgable many of the posters are.
I will leave this subject alone and to the posters who bring the knowledge to this board.
I will however continue to call Rommy the windbag out for being something other then an honest investor.
Mickey
Want to quote a song for you "oh mickey your so fine, your so fine you blow my mind, hey mickey, hey mickey!!!"
12 billion represents a share price in excess of 250.00 per share.
i think we would all love it but it is irresponsible to make such a statement like that. There is simply no way this company regardless of what the future might represent for it will be sold for a share price like that which is nearly 7 times todays share price. no one would pay a premium for that.
there will be no hostile takeover like some have mentioned from people that were involved in the due diligence phase. Part of any confidentality agreement that bidders would sign i am certain limits them from anything other a normal buyout for a certain period of time, does not mean that a hostile take over could not come from another company not involved in the initial bid phase, but if they were interested that would have happened already.
As i said you bring enthusiasm to the board at a time when windbag rommy is spouting off and you help to temper him, but to throw numbers out like that just makes all the good things you be dimissed because most on this board would take a 100.00 and run for the hills.
Just my 2 cents
Mickey
All due respect to your love for this stock, but when you talk like that of a feeling of blowing through 100 or selling for 12 billion dollars you are no different than that BLOWBAG Romulus when he is spouting that there is no deal and that the stock will fall to 30 or below.
The deal will happen when it happens and no one on this board has any insider knowledge of what is going on within the company. However you would think that with the stock falling like it has, that if there were no deal or better said no offer, dont you think IDCC would have spoken up by now to try an stem the fall? It is not like coming out with an announcement is likely to hurt the stock since we are at levels or actually lower then when the initial announcement was made. Regardless we dont know and we should stick to things we can control and this is not one of them.
We all love your enthusiasm, but it is not fair to a newbie or an occassional reader who pops in and sees a post like yours and decides to buy more or reads Mr Windbag rommy saying his chicken little posts that the sky is falling and sells out.
Tempering your posts seems to be the prudent thing to do until we know more about what is going on.
Doc
rommy
i did not imply the rumor was true nor do i believe a brillant trader like yourself would short a stock with a limited downsize compared to a sigificant upside.
why dont you tell everyone what your agenda is?
down pretty good off the highs, but still up solid on a down market day.
Did rommy double up and go chasing again??
We can only hope he gets it caught in his zipper!!!!!!
sorry yes, joel, i mistakenly said jim
not sure if anybody asked lately, but has anybody heard from Jim P from king of prussia?
Seems very odd that he has not posted at all.
he went from posting 25 or 30 times a day to nothing. is he ok?
nothing like maverick to break up your day!!!!!
hey we could be "flying a plane full of rubber dog shit out of hong kong!!!"
well that did not last very long!!!
too much pressure elsewhere
so sell then.
You say barclays is in cohoots with these funds with their target reduction to 45. Right now it is at 44.09, so you wont get exactly 45, you should be happy because we pie in the sky shareholders will hang on until it goes lower.
You have an agenda here. not sure what it is, but it is certainly not providing any value here.
hey ricstro
take your misspelled, missing word posts some place else.
IDCC has said since it was first announced about a potential buyout that they would not discuss anything regarding any possible deals and they have remained quiet even with all the mis-information that has been reported.
Your just mad that you went ahead and bought oct options in thinking you were going to make a big score and guess what, you guessed wrong.
now you want to institute shareholder suit because you guessed wrong??? You would find fault with them either way. What if they came out and talked and said well things are on going, but we have not gotten the offer we expected. the stock would be down and your calls worthless. The point here is, the only way you would be happy if the stock were signifcantly above your strike price regardless if they spoke up or not
Doc
What a disaster! i knew it was too good to be true. this company could screw up a 1 car funeral.
i was listening to people saying that if we dont get 5 billion to 10 billion they should keep the company and not give it away since what they have is so valuable.
i wanted out. even if it was 4 billion i was running because this company will never be able to deal with the big boys. there will always be an excuse, followed by lawsuits and more waiting.
what is the definition of insane? doing they same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. We keep drinking the coolaid thinking this time will be different.
God i hate this company
being that we are 35 minutes from the market opening, i thought i would post something funny (like Loops a few days ago whose was much funnier than this will be) that has to do with the parsing of words in news articles, and looking for that smoking gun and giving DMILER a hard time about his cold water throwing.
Many of you are old timers and remember the TV show The odd couple. Well one particular show is brought to mind everytime many of the posters begin to provide their best guest on what a particular article has to say.
here goes
Felix was particulary concerned about flying and he and oscar were in the airport in New York waiting for the flight to board and Felix begins to read the lips of the mechanics on the groud. he thinks they say "I Fear much Trouble in the Fuselage Frederick". Oscar then trys to read and he says I Fear that there is some nut trying to read my lips!!!! You can guess that since it was a new york based show what The capital F's really meant!!!
the point i am making other then trying to bring a bit of levity to the board is that as much as we all try to read into these news releases it is likely that the people that wrote them also put some thought in to what they were presenting and as such could very easily be choosing words as carefully as we are reading them and saying something in a manner to throw us off.
While dmiller makes me nuts with his sometimes negative posts, having him around to keep us grounded and not off buying new homes and faster cars in advance of a 100 point jump is necessary. Being the cynic can be tough but dmiller seems to revel in it much to our chagrin.
I am sorry if i took you away from the idcc conversation and future, but for some reason considering all that has been posted about who and for how much companies are bidding on idcc i thought this was the time with a bit of humor to keep everyone in check until we get real news.
Doc
when the quake was happening i remembered a seen from seinfeld when georges mom and dad were in a van and they said, "if this van is a rockin dont come a knocking"!!!!!!!!!
quake was pretty crazy!!
at the shore in new jersey and the place was a rockin and a rollng.
5.9 is a nice quake, but the CA people must be chucking at us~~~
Guys
not sure what this is telling us, but look at the sept 75 calls? traded 505 contracts in less then 15 minutes.
alot of contracts for a option that is set to expire in 3 weeks or so.

thanks for your reply. I apologize but i do not have a service that allows me to respond to your privately.
i agree with your insight and i too look into December calls, but was going to a higher strike price to be able to get enough to make it worth it.
I realize as we get closer to the expiration dates that it loses value, but i was surprised that so many of the sept 75's traded. would seem to me that the people that bought have to be thinking about exercising them, because as you say the premium comes off as it gets closer to the date and they cant be thinking there is going to be a pop in a short time to make financial sense unless they know something we dont.
many had to trade at between 3.50 and 4.50
i appreiate your thoughts
Doc

I own Sept 75 calls that as of friday were 10.30 and i was going to sit on them for a few weeks to see what transpired with more buyout talk.
Today had them take a huge hit to where they were down as much as 7 bucks or so. What i thought was interesting was the fact that 2987 contracts traded on sept 75 calls.
Does that surprise you? Here we are about 4 weeks from expiration and there was that much activity!!
Someone obviously was selling what they had, but there was someone on the other side buying them.
i am no expert at options as i have never turned them into shares and only traded them on the basis that while there is risk there is nice upside.
is this type of action telling us anything?
i would appreciate your thoughts on the matter
Infinite
an interesting response. I too questioned whether idcc should be doing something with a response to address the fears of many of us shareholders. I dont know the answer to this question, but do we or does anybody know if in fact idcc must tell it's shareholders that google is out of the race? Are they obligated legally?
if memory serves me, i dont believe idcc ever mentioned who they were talking to about a company buyout so if they never mentioned googles name, are they obligated to notify shareholders that they are out of the race?
What scares me most is that with all these rumors flying around that it was goog, appl, or samsung making a bid , that while they were open to selling the company, that no one has gotten serious about talking numbers to idcc and as such making a statement on who or who is not involved would be acknowledging something that really had not happen yet.
your right lando, and with an average price around 30 or so, i have doubled my money, but we are at 60 because of the buy out rumors not because the street believes idcc is worth that much. it will be back down to the mid 40's where it took off when the rumors first started google was really the only player.
i thought this time was different (again insanity) because it appeared that idcc finally came to the reality that fighting the process of trying to license their IPR was a losing battle since the players are much bigger and are OK spending legal fees fighting against.
i felt better that selling the company was the only way you would get the proper value out of this company.
the key is understanding if there is anybody else involved that would be willing to come close to paying at least the low end of MP's estimates.
Where would we be if the market was down big like it was last week?
Where is Jim P from king of prussia?
Talk about BAD KHARMA!!! We simply cant catch a break. Everyone was talking outlandish buyout numbers of 200 to 450 per share, and now Motorola gets 12.5 billion and again is laughing at us.
If there is no response from IDCC today about this event that tells me that idcc got duped again. Google used them to make it sound like they were interested in buying them to keep moto and Carl I in check while they kept the price at a level they were confortable with.
How can something so major like this be kept so quiet and there were 50 rumors about what idcc was doing all of them now proved false. Maybe the rumor from thursday was true and their patents are not as important as we all thought and google went another way.
i am all for keeping the price in check by not showing everyone that we are all jumping ship, but unless they have a solid offer in place from one of the others rumored to be involved, i dont care how valuable their patents are, there is no way we get anywhere near the offers now if at all.
I find it hard to believe that google was serious anyway about idcc. no way someone buys a large company like MOT pays 12.5 billion only AFTER they did due dligence on IDCC and decided to go elsewhere.
Either they want to buy both (which is not likely) or they were never buying idcc in the first place.
Sorry, but i have been duped by this company many many times in the past and always expected that THIS was the one. What do they say about being INSANE????
Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result!!!
thanks for the response Dog as well as the others who chimed in.
nic
i realize that idcc would not be privy to a win or a loss any sooner then the public. I was just wondering if this latest suit gives us an insight into their thinking on what the potential outcome was.
if they would file this latest suit whether they lost or won and it has no bearing on the outcome then my question is moot.
just thought that the time was odd.
guys
myself and my father have been in the stock for many years like many of you here and i am excited about the future for this company.
i will first apologize with the question. I could not come close to bringing information to this board like many of you do, but i have a question and forgive me if it is dumb or has been asked before, but i will ask it anyway.
this recent filing by idcc against nokia,ZTE, Huawei, if idcc knew what the outcome of the CAFC ruling were, would they still have filed this latest suit? meaning, if they knew they lost at CAFC would this filing be a defensive mechanism to offset that lost? The other side of it is, while being proactive like they are is a good thing if they knew they won, would they still file this suit? Seems to me the filing of this latest suit is redudant isnt it? if they won at CAFC ( i realize the suit is just wtih nokia)they would get the same result at what this latest suit is for which is an injunction in allowing nokia to sell phones here in the states?
i would appreciate your thoughts
I have been in this stock since 1998 and while i have not been in it nearly as long as many of the long time "longs" I have been in it long enough to know that our day will never come the way everyone expects it to come with the stock going to 100 and then splitting.
We had been waiting for the famed ericsson case to be settled only to have it settle for pennies on the dollar. Then comes the wins over nokia and samsung only to end up in countless lawsuits that i am sure we will have to settle for much less then it will ever be worth.
We sign the two hottest companies on wallstreet in RIMM and apple and we simply can not sustain the share price and in fact have lost value.
I own 25K shares of this stock that i have accumulated over the nearly 10 year period and only sold when i had some small margin calls and i too had visions of this blowing through the roof, but I am coming to the realizations that it will never be anywhere near what we think it should be and as such i am considering selling at least 50% if not more and put it in other things that wont tear my heart out like this stock has.
I read posts every other day or so and while i appreciate the many people who post solid information, in many cases it has kept me in this stock much too long because of the positive spin one of the daily posters puts on a ruling, or PR, or a signing of a lower tier supplier. However, i am afraid the day i hit the sell button, is when we will get our just due and everything positive thing that has been said the last 10 years will come true.
It is my intent to hold on until the end of the month with the earnings annoucment with hopes that some clarity will be shed on the latest 2 signings of RIMM and apple. If nothing positive happens, i am out of here and will not look back.
I cant continue to lose other opportunities because i am holding out hope for a stock that simply and always will have a black cloud over it.
Not sure what prompted me to write this tonite since you will see that i never post any opinions that i have, but i have been reading more lately and i can feel the excitement again building from some of the positive things going on with the stock and from many of the posters, but i know when that feeling comes that our heart will be broken again by this stock/company and I simply can no longer take it.
Sorry to be a bummer on a sunday nite, but for some reason i felt compelled to speak up.
Ratty is so right. We continue to look for anything positive we can spin into good news and we will go so far as to make things up. Where you could possibly come up with news coming out Monday is beyond me. The only thing that could possibly give you any reason to think that is that STUPID rumor from JAG, which I will not even waste my breath on them.
Your issue about being negative is just wrong. I am long on this stock for more then 7 years so I certainly have heard all the rumors of settlements and new licenses, What makes this stock react so crazy is the interest we give to innuendo.
I want this stock to go as much as anyone, but when we begin to "make" things up is when we become subjected to these unexplained swings be it up or down!
One thing that I have learned with this stock is that things happen with this stock when you LEAST expect it. To think we should all be prepared for something other then NOK filing is just short of irreponsible.
Back to lurking!!

give me a break with you trading this stock. There are professionals who have no clue how and when to trade this stock, and i am certain you don't have a clue either. I am sure you were there over the fourth of July weekend spending your future profit at the local dairy queen after you heard the ruling. Now all of a sudden you know this stock and that it is doomed. Many like you have said that and your still here aggravating us.
Please stop rubbing it our faces that we are nuts to be still in this stock. It is our money and we will do what we please with it.
Your out of the stock, take your few bucks and find something else to do with your time. I would vote playing in traffic
Doc
handover:
That is simply not true. I am a long and have been painfully waiting for our just due, but don;t say things like that, that you know is not true. Cramer was saying that MOT who he touts in his action plus program (which I am a member)is taking market share of NOK. No mention was made of IDCC.
It is bad enough we have posters out there that are making everyone nuts with doom and gloom statements, but your statement that IDCC was mentioned is no better then DMILLER and the CORPS on this board.
Lets stick to facts
Doc
