and "from existing patent licensees"....!
I'll never figure out this stock and market...IDCC up 1% while NAZ down 1%!
On 12/01/05 InterDigital issued revenue guidance for the fourth quarter. Maybe we will get some good news tomorrow.
A Tax question. Is it true that if you exercise a call option you can defer paying taxes until the shares are sold? Can someone provide a link that explains the tax issues with call options? TIA
I think you meant the Oct 35 calls.
Don't know if they are but I am!
Has IDCC ever waited this long before reporting?
I think most here expect good 2nd qtr results...how many expect good 3rd qtr guidance?
2nd quarter guidance was issued on May 30, 26 days after 1st quarter results were released on May 4. Can we expect the same time lag for 3rd quarter guidance?
Also concerning licensing fees, is IDCC always one quarter behind due to when they receive their licensee reports? If true, then can we expect a good 3rd quarter guidance because most of our licensees have had a good 2nd quarter?
TIA
IMO: would not be surprised by a merger between SAM & LG!
3: Samsung, Sony-Erickson, and BenQ.
NOK & MOT next year.
A stock split question: What happens to call options?
For example, for a 2 to 1 stock split what would happen to a call option that has a strike price of $30?
Thanks.
I put my NOK phone under my car and ran over it several times......gave me much satisfaction!
"if a licensing agreement is reached with a trigger company for 3G, NOK will be back before the ICC. IDCC is on very solid ground there."
I cannot believe that NOK would let this happen. Letting the ICC determine their rates would be really stupid on NOK's part.......then again if there really is a Cabal maybe there won't be a 3G trigger?
You may want to add the annual stockholders meeting in June.

Anyone know of an 800 phone # to call to get stock quotes?
Some good discussion on the board today about what NOK is up to. Like many others have said before, this is all about what NOK wants to pay for 3G. Before LG they may have not cared that the courts were ruling against them, but after LG, this has to give NOK pause as it becomes more likely that a 3G trigger will be signed in the near future and they certainly don't want to go back to the ICC to arbitrate 3G rates! IMO, NOK will settle soon and avoid that scenario.
No sooner than when I signed up with US Cellular with 2 LG phones, I got the email notification from IDCC! What a great coincidence.
If $1.19 does not include NOK/SAM, where does it come from?
Didn't someone post recently that IDCC has patent(s) in wireless TV?
"2G/3G dual-mode protocol stack completed ten interoperability tests with major equipment producers"
It would be interesting to know who these ten major equipment producers are? Hope that some are from tier 1.
Jim, thanks so much for that uplifting post......2006 will be a very good year for all of us!
I still think there is a chance for signing a major by the end of Sep.
"It also designs some of the chips."
Can anyone confirm a statement made that an HSDPA ASIC will be available in the 3rd quarter?
"We will see by 9/30 if the above statement has any validity."
I would hope much sooner than 9/30, with the soon (re: Fagan) to be released 3Q guidance. We are almost 2/3 thru the 3Q and no guidance yet? Speculation on this board is guidance will be released as soon as predicted 3G license(s) have deposited their payment in the bank. It will be 3 weeks tomorrow since that prediction was made. I am hoping by 8/31 else will start to wonder.
"IDCC will then seek additional damages"
Would that be a separate legal action and in which court?
Thanks Loop.
"My hope is that IDCC files a "block the exits" petition asking the enforcement court to access damages."
That is my hope too but legally I don't know how they would do this. Could any of the board lawyers speculate about the legal strategy that's available to IDCC to "access damages" and also comment on the pros and cons? Thanks.
Any comments on the Analysts Estimates on the IDCC web site that shows for 2005 Q3 as $2.37 followed by $0.13 in Q4? What kind of event would cause such a huge increase in Q3 followed by a huge decrease in Q4, ie: NO recurring revs?
Excellent point loto!
"2005 -0.02A 0.07A 2.37 0.13 1.37 2 2"
MSC, where did the 2.37 come from?
Ron, can you comment on the following:
"Analyst Estimates
First Call Mean Estimates
Fiscal Year Ending: Dec - Last Changed: 08/05/05
YR Ending Q1 Mar Q2 Jun Q3 Sep Q4 Dec FISC YR Annual NUM Brokers (FISC) NUM Brokers (CAL)
2005 -0.02A 0.07A 1.22 0.11 0.98 3 3"
How can we go from .07 in Q2 to 1.22 in Q3 followed by .11 in Q4?
If we get a 3G license won't there be recurring rev from Q3 onward, ie: why the big drop in Q4?
Been reading all the posts since Judge Lynn's REVERSAL, and get the feeling that this is only a moral victory for IDCC and will not affect the arbs and Nok litigations in any way, IMO. Hope I am wrong.
From Tom's report: "The $26 price target is based on a 25x multiple of our 2005 EPS estimate of $0.94, which yields $24, then, we add IDCC’s $2 per share in cash."
He makes the same mistake as the last time, ie: he should add $7 per share in cash to $24 to get $31.
"Her ruling does not appear to allow those documents to be used by Nokia for any other matters."
What if Nok did use them for other matters, ie: some of the other litigations against IDCC? There were some comments on this board that maybe some of these litigations would be withdrawn due to Judge Lynn's reversal, and I was hoping that would be real possibility, but your response suggests otherwise. TIA
"As a result, it seems that whatever rights were granted to Nokia with regard to the sealed documents by virtue of Judge Lynn's order, which as best I can see were limited to use in the arbitration, were not impacted by the Federal Circuit's decision."
Hmmm, that is not good news.
"Therefore, NOK got to use the documents and information obtained during the appeal."
Does that mean that any info contained in those docs can now NOT be used in any subsequent motions that have been filed by Nok? If the answer is yes, ie: Nok cannot use that info, can Nok then request those docs even though they should not have known what info was contained in them in the 1st place?
Now I understand. Thanks so much Loop.
Loop, thanks for your informative response, but I still do not understand why Nok got access to sealed docs while IDCC's appeal was in progress. What am I missing here?
"Because Judge Lynn's decision related to the right of Nokia to intervene"
Could someone please explain why, if IDCC appealed Judge Lynn's decision, Nok was still allowed to intervene during the appeal?
