Finally something positive to say about the company. All i've seen since friday have been negatively run articles about what they cant do and what "potential" competition will do down the road. All i can think of is Amazon wont be able to compete for some time and Google while they may have taken some execs from Groupon they are still lightyears away from competing with Groupon for now. These email offerings you may get from Amazon or Google are SPAM and people will treat it as such and delete them. If someone wants to shop for a good deal they are headed to Groupon not waiting for a SPAM email. The company has a chance and NOW a few hundreds of million dollars to buyout "other" companies and continue growth. I like the companies chances in the near term. :)
AIMHO
LOL thats not a fair deal...
IMO
If it were to be considered an asset of QASP couldnt the company sell the property and buy back stock? Geez $237K at .0001 would do a lot for QASP shareholders. Or are the company shareholders ponying up the $1700 a month for this rental? Anyone know who owns the property/rents it? Cute little house. Wonder if the shareholders can borrow it on the weekends, does it have a pool? :)
jmho
IMO the court will probably ask if those shares Party A "set aside" were free and clear of any liens per the agreement (was the buyer aware of the lien, not that the buyer needed to know at the time of the deal). If shares were free and clear, then why not transfer the 20M shares to Party B awaiting the shares in exchange for the $800 they were given... which may have shown "good faith" from both parties to execute the deal and heck quite possibly the deal would have closed by now and shareholders could have rejoiced. Now its going to lead to some drawn out court case of he did/he didnt.
AIMHO
Agree with you, i've definitely learned my lesson with that other company. IMO a ton of people learned a tough lesson.
All good questions.
The questions i will discuss with Carey some time this week will be the following:
Has OPTZ recognized revenue in 2011?
What kind of salvaging needs to be done to bring value to shareholders and debt holders?
How much debt is outstanding, in the form of notes? (Not shares)
Is the company operating today?
Will OPTZ be paying their Deliquent Delaware incorporation taxes?
Who owns the Preferred Stock now that Kevin has stepped down?
Was the company sold or forfeited to Carey?
- Lets see the response if Carey will respond, i'll ask if i can post to the board.
Somebody contact James Patterson, the plot thickens
Good day power, i havent asked her anything these past few weeks. If you guys can come up with a list of questions i will forward to her and get her response :)
DB2 im not sure its illegal to try and sell something with a lien against it. I would think the company would have to get an approval letter from lien holder to allow the transaction to take place and also present any and all information to the buyer in good faith so the buyer can make decision with all known information(caveat emptor). However, if the company didnt have that or do that and tried to sell without notice to potential buyer or lien holder then maybe theres something to consider, but nevertheless IMO i side with you if everything holds true as to the details mentioned on the board then one party didnt hold up to their side of the deal and probably out $800.
AIMHO
Yeah but IMO and of course my opinion and my understanding of contracts all Mineseeker or NHSH has to show is that they made a good faith effort to uphold their end of the deal. The $800 shows they at least began the steps to finalizing the deal in good faith however if what Tom mentioned is true:
James could not provide shares free of liens and encumberances.
Then IMO James never showed good faith upholding his side of the deal. If my understanding is correct it doesnt matter how far one side has gone, as long as they can show good faith in upholding their side; $800, and the other couldnt meet the requirements set forth in the agreement then IMO a judge would rule against James based on the details presented if it ever went to court. Basically you cannot point a finger at one party and say you didnt give me all the money only some which we agreed to, when you havent done anything to uphold your side of the agreement. HOWEVER i dont know enough about any additional details as i am not in the "know" nor do i want to be at this point.
AIMHO
LOL they would all look at each other and think..."Wow You too?" Then the hedge funds and banks would walk in saying "Walk along people, there is nothing to be seen here" :)
IMO
Has Wilbur seen these documents? how does ever other horse get to see them? Mr. Ed would think its fair that all horses are able to see them if one horse has :)
IMO
What i dont get is how they have been able to publicly do it and get away with it...
Well in this industry TSA/Homeland Security should make it more difficult on these schools, we cannot have just anyone having access to planes. Everybody remembers September 11th. So while i dont mind the TSA's scope creep i do think razor thin margins are tough for any business. I do think the government would subsidize the industry or offer some sort of financial assistance if they are affecting it with new guidelines and requirements. The last thing we need is foreign trained nationals taking these jobs. Heck we cant even track who comes in and out of this country and what their criminal background is.
Okay playing with math here and i was bored but here it goes, i may be wayyyy off here but oh well:
i did the math based on findings from FAA website and bureau of statistics:
It is estimated that there will be 69000 pilot students in 2011 in the US (this should reflect foreign students as well in the US), however only 30% of all pilots graduate from CFR Part 141 Pilot schools, so using that number for future pilots that the number is reduced to 20,700 pilot students per year.
The last number i could find on the number of FAA certified flight schools is 600 from 2009.
So lets do the math:
20,700 students per year
(divided by 600 certified schools)
------------------------------
= 34.5 students per school per year
(multiply by 55K) (INDUSTRY AVERAGE FOR FLIGHT SCHOOL TO GRADUATE, NOT PER MONTH)
-----------------------------
= revenue of $1.897M
*NOW schools have to pay overhead, labor costs, etc...and who knows what that amounts to.
**when its all said and done maybe a 2% to 4% profit margin overall
Now this is where it gets tricky:
Only 50% of college students graduate so using that number in this instance we started with 20,700 but the figure should be more like 10,350 students per year.
10,350 students per year
(divided by 600 certified schools)
-------------------------------
= 17 students per year per school
multiply by 55K (as described previously)
-------------------------------
= revenue of $935K
*NOW schools have to pay overhead, labor costs, etc...and who knows what that amounts to. **when all the bills are paid maybe a 2% to 4% profit margin overall

Just to have a conversation of a buyout:
I dont think companies right now would consider buying out RIMM right now. The cost to buy RIMM would be very high, the company still thinks it could be successful and so do their shareholders. I think they will wait for another quarter to see how RIMM will do and in hopes that RIMM will continue to struggle which when they initiate an offer will have more to negotiate with due to having more than 1 bad quarter or even two. 3 bad quarters and you have a trend beginning which potential companies all licking their chops hoping to low-ball the crap out of the offer in hope RIMM will bend and give in. THis is just my opinion but why pay top dollar today for something when you can pay a quarter or half of that in a few months.
The QASP board is starting to get real interesting...things i have been curious about and waiting on are coming to light. Where does it end? Who knows but definitely stay tuned for the next chapter :)
Well Carey did respond and Carey said they are working on trying to salvage the company and must make decisions if they are in the best interests to the shareholders and debt holders. Carey is available for any questions we may have and the number is 210-262-8490. Also moving forward any updates will be brought forth with 8-K's, PR's, quarterly filings, and such.
well i emailed our current CEO, curious to see how she responds.
Anyone notice the address on the latest 8K?

Good day joe, i am going to have to disagree with you on this part of your post:
Unlike yahoo, you're only allowed one alias
It is possible to do. Just an FYI...not saying that the previous management had done it just that it is possible if you have multiple email accounts.
IMO
Same as hostile...
Quick double huh? I like it :)
I'm definitely going to watch next week but it may take a few weeks/months or so for something to be done with the company. I knew something was up when they updated the website and took their names off of it. I wasnt sure about Larry though if he was going to stay with the company or not. Very surprised by that move but i will say though is the dilution is done and i suspect to see a company update very soon in terms of a business plan. Based on my review of the new CEO she appears to be on her game with keeping financials up to date and keeping shareholders informed.

So here is her background of filings with the company and previous companies. She is/was part owner (10%) of the shell United Restaurant Management. So it looks like she is back in position to do something with the company, which IMO she will sell or RM it like before for the right price.

IMO the Europe situation is priced into this, any positive info coming from that region of the world will improve this stock significantly. I've purchased my fair share over the past few days, too good to pass up IMO.
This PPS is downright crazy for the worlds largest steel company. Even in 2008 early 2009 it never hit this low.
I ask myself that all the time about this. I dont exactly know but IMO something must have changed in that timeframe that changed their mind.

Good post :)
Well if thats the case then this guy may have taken over :) his credentials arent to be eh?!?
Mr. Berry was the founder and owner of Berry Consulting Group LLC (BCG). BCG specialized in the transportation industry. The company assisted clients in all facets of business development including consulting on mergers and acquisitions, developing Brokerage Platforms, and Logistic Services, and finally Agent Development. BCG had extensive experience in all of the above business development areas as well as significant operational experience.
Mr. Berry worked as President of Worldwide Freight, Vice President for Business Development for XRG, Paschall Truck Line, and CRST Logistics. Mr. Berry was one of the original officers of Landstar and helped to develop that company into the largest non-asset based public company.
IMO
Hey bud, its not me. Hope all is well...
They are a broker not a company that has trucks or even warehouses product. Companies call them for the cheapest rate to move their products to the customers. It's like going to Travelocity for flights but this is for freight.
Then they all come together as one...with Jeff in control?
i've gotten a few laughs as well but mainly from people who could care less about the company but continue to visit here :)
I would expect financing way before any collaborations. Of course this is my opinion of course but we are all tuned in and waiting for any updates. Just read into Kevin Brennan's experience into developing relationships with banks to raise funds for business purposes.
Hmmmm or for financing purposes :) IMO
We all expected something by now but i'm sorry management hasnt met your demands for an RS :)
Maybe there is hope huh? This one thing sticks out to me and why i dont think your request will happen:
Per the last Quarterly filed, employees owned half of the OS in restricted shares (221,650,000 of the 420,211,363) and i would think would be mentioned:
During the three month period ended September 30, 2010, the Company issued 221,650,000 of restricted common stock to various employees and consultants for services rendered.
Just watched that movie last week. Interesting movie...
