Merry Christmas to the military families
By Silvio Canto, Jr.
/Salute...Thank you for your service
Once again, thousands of families will spend Christmas away from their husbands, wives, daughters, and sons. In our case, our third son was in the U.S. Army and spent four holiday seasons away from home.
We appreciate these families. I remember how emotional it was to salute the young people in our church who made it home for the holidays. It was quite an impressive scene with all of those elegant uniforms as well.
We appreciate the ones serving the country, from Iraq to Afghanistan to the Korean peninsula to the fleet protecting the oil flow in the Straits of Hormuz. They are doing very important work.
Here a few details about military families:
More than 1.3 million men and women currently serve in the U.S. military.
Of those, roughly 55 percent are married and 43 percent have children.
Remember that more than 52,000 U.S. service members have been wounded in action since 9/11! Many more have suffered from combat-related stress, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Often, the military family is impacted directly by this.
It goes without saying that the world is safer because our armed forces are defending freedom.
If you can, salute a military family in your neighborhood. They will appreciate it a lot. They may not show it but there is an empty chair at the Christmas table this year.

Indeed it was...listening to the play I recognize the announcer...Craig Way...he started out as a sports announcer for KVET here in Austin...way back when I had my business...used to have him on the radio in the office...good times and GREAT Catch
Speaking of Auto disasters today...on my way to Church a few hours ago...just as I was approaching an intersection to turn left...a firetruck filled the intersection and stopped...he started to put out cones to close the intersection and I barely made it through before he closed it...when I glanced to see what happened...a car hit another car head on when they were going the wrong way...and there was a median separating the two sides...ouch
Other rescue vehicles were on the way but I didn't stay around so I don't know about injuries.
I love love love your siggy today...thanks...made me smile.
I totally agree with you about the Parents and Santa...now that I have grandkids...hehehe
No showers last night...Cedar is too strong...through my bedroom window this morning...clear view of the night light called the Moon...
TY sir...because of the way I play I usually come out ahead...and use my reward cards for rooms and meals...we shall see...we has fun in Bossier City when Dianna and I took Mom there while she was still with us.
I haven't been to the Hardrock in Tampa...glad to see you having fun...morning AJ
I have a running offer from the Horseshoe in Bossier City...three night stay...75.00 in gaming and 50.00 for travel pay...once Dianna gets here we will take advantage of that...
Heck yes...and further proof Santa exists...Morning K
Full Moons have consequences...wonder if it set off Krakatoa??
Morning Larry...no tsunami here
Exactly...how can you tell him that???
Morning P_S_H...back from my rounds...not much of a breeze out so I survived...LOL
Just so you know...I'm all for the shut down until there is funding for the wall...EVEN though it is Homeland Security that decides Diannas future...of course mine as well...but PLEASE...hope it doesn't last a year.
There is a tooth fairy...and Peter Pan... "second star to the right, and straight on till morning".
Sorry (Not really) for the delay...was with Di...
Really sorry to hear your so down with a cold/flu??...hope you get better soon...I hate being ick on Christmas.

Catch you later.
Have fun Gman...glad you had the good day yesterday...enjoy your Grand daughter...I'll get to visit my Grandkids tomorrow...
NEVER tell your Children there is no Santa...to this day I haven't said to Robbie there was no Santa...kids want to believe in Santa...Peter Pan...to use their imagination...to have fun...this world is hard enough...don't take that away from them...JMO
Morning K
The cedar hit me on my way home...had to crack my window because the AC in the car wasn't working...once home...have stayed inside...lucky for me I don't need to open the windows...I'm ok for now but it will only get worse now...with the wet year we had I knew it would be bad this year...sad thing is I didn't see the meteor shower or the full moon...
Morning EZ...safe traels and enjoy your visit...praying Lily behaves herself...
You can bet on it...I was amazed at how little it took to bring them down.
Just hope no one was hurt
Talk about your bad hair days
