IDCC-LU mediation, the timing of mediation (Jan, 2005) seems little speculative considering that IDCC has so much going (or supposedly going) on in that month. Anybody has any insight into what could it be (I could use SOME speculation).
Need some boosters.
TIA.

sjratty, thanks for the IDCC-LU update. There was a volume surge of around 50K and the price has moved down by around 15-20 cents. It could be a flase move by option players. I can't believe that I am saying that a mere 50K is a volume surge. Hopefully IDCC will get back its golden days of over 1 mil a day volume and we see good thinghs that we have been waiting for.
January is certainly becoming more eventful...mediation is an excellent development, IMHO of course.
-vg_future
Question, volume surge in the last 20-30 mins...anybody any thoughts if this is related to the proceedings in the court today between IDCC and LU?
TIA.

Does the licensing amount be above certain value for a NEWs release?

olddog, yep...with low volume it is very tough to cover. A squeeze in the shorts is well deserved.

sorry, that didn't come out good. Use the link (I hope it works).
Anyway, it has gone down to 3,064,348 from 3,778,399 in August.

Looks like some shorts covered during the recent trading range.

Question, Does this new license indicate any action on JPO front? Is Toshiba one of the companies waiting on JPO to vouch IDCC patents?
TIA
-vg_future
JimLur, Please read the snippet from the filing that LearningVest has posted. That filing makes me think that there is a chance (either NOK thinks so or IDCC has asked for some damages) that arb panel might award money damages (not necessarily punitive....could be just interest, legal fee and discount less payment for past usage). JMHO.
-vg_future
sjratty, I am under the impression that they can award interest and damages but may be not huge. I am basing this on the fact that NOK in one of its filings with arbitration claimed that the panel cannot award any damages. Why would they mention that if they are sure that no damages will be awarded? Please correct me if I read it wrong.
TIA

twelvebees, sorry! I got it now. Speaking of your purchase...goodluck with it. I have been a IDCC killer for quite sometime with my purchases. So, this time I've decided to help IDCC...so not buying anymore.
-vg_future
twelvebees, Why would that put a pall on any news? Is there silent period or something after a company buys back the shares? I thought since the buyback was announced long back, it wouldn't effect on any news.
TIA

amrwonderful,
It looks as though there has been a major leak in the long-term shareholders watershed, a drop-off of our wireless call, an error in our wireless data transmission.
All these problems including wireless data transmission errors will be minimized in 3G (hoping and betting on the technology).
Long and Strong!

rmarchma, Thanks for the response. So, so existing licensees have to do good for us to be positive or we have to sign new ones. I would love to see to new licenses. Olddog explained the non-recurring charges. You guys make this board great. We all appreciate it.
-vg_future
olddog967, Thanks for the clarification. EOM
rmarchma, Quickee, What is the non-recurring restructuring cost of $600,000 that IDCC is referring to? If it is non-recurring, then that amount should cover for the increase in the expenditure that IDCC has referred to and probably should maintain the operating expenses at the same level as this quarter, right?
Thanks for all your efforts. Your analysis is very valuable for all long term holders.
-vg_future
loophole, very vivid imagination. Good one. Works for me if atleast that can get the business done.
-vg_future
JimLur, They wouldn't say he is out on business if he is on vacation. Well, I don't know if they just thought "business" sounds more convincing and pleasing than "vacation". But, I tend to believe that he is really out on business.
-vg_future
rmarchma, Thanks. Awaiting your detailed report. TIA. EOM

Does anybody have the itemized details of our revenue?
TIA

tarheel_trader, thanks. Then it would be great. EOM
-vg_future
tfwg, Thanks. Do you happen to know what the consensus is?
TIA
-vg_future
amrwonderful, I agree. I will wait for rmarchma's analysis.
-vg_future
amrwonderful, in the past they didn't pre-announce even when they had excellent results. So, not pre-announcing doesn't mean that they are bad. I am not sure if there is enough time before earnings to pre-announce (we must be already in a 10 day window). With the conservative projections that IDCC gave and with the new license that we had, we should be okay with the earnings.
JMHO

OT - jaykayjones, I know that what I am requesting would make the board biased and probably not helpful for people's investment decisions. But, you see I am in a wed lock with this stock After being married to this stock for a while, I am unable to even recognize the rose colored glasses that I am wearing. You guys have done a great job in digging out stuff and without your findings and the unbiased analysis, we wouldn't have had such a knowledgeable board.
-vg_future
JimLur, yes, it is better to leave it to the IDCC's legal eagles. Let the professionals handle it. Probably, I am trying to be over protective. Anyway, waiting for our day under the sun.
-vg_future
Sincere request - There are many excellent legal brains and really skilled members on this board. In analyzing the NOK situation, many possible outcomes and many possible approaches that IDCC could take to beat NOK at their dirty game are being discussed. Now, here is the request...I don't know if I am asking too much and making the board biased....but, please don't give any ideas about how NOK can twist and turn the law to their advantage or what NOK arguments could be. I might be thinking too much of this board (I believe that this board is worthy enough) and I also know that NOK lawyers are all experts to think of possible approaches without picking anything from here. But, let's not feed them anything from here. It is possible that they might like an idea from here. I know that analysis on this board does move the stock price which makes me think that even unwanted and undesirable eyes might also be watching this board. Please pardon me if I am asking for too much censorship.
JimLur, if I am stepping out of my line here, please delete this message.
-vg_future
bulldzr, I liked the way they both stressed on buying IDCC at current values. We have lot of potential. Eventually rest of the WS analysts will jump in. Waiting for that day.
Good Luck all!
-vg_future
bulldzr, I am confused. Today's report was from Scot Robertson right not Tom Carpenter. Tom Carpenter report was issued last week and it had a price target of 26 for 2004 (I don't remember waht he had for 2005). Today's report said 29 for this year. Please correct me if I am wrong. Were you referring to last week's report?
TIA
-vg_future
Anyone, What was the target price given by Scot before today's report? His report was really bullish ("buy aggressively below 20"..I like this quote).
TIA
-vg_future
JimLur, Thanks for the report. Scot's report is really uplifting. I hope WS sees the potential. Within a week 2 positive reports, one from Tom Carpenter and the other from Scot. This is really encouraging. What was the target given by Scot earlier to this report?
For those who have problems opening the report in the browser, save the report to the disk and use the Acrobat reader to open the saved pdf file.

gman1962, "doji" effect? is it just like that or someone might have had some clue yesterday about a possible pounding this morning? But again, as analyzed by our experts here, the filings may not cause any delay....I guess it doesn't matter for sellers or shorts...yet again, looks like someone is trying to play it.
Thanks for your response.
-vg_future
Jimlur, understandably yes. EOM
Jai, Thanks. Delay factor is only someone's guess on this board. It need not necessarily happen. Experts on this board also presented other possible scenarios. But, I guess, sellers would always look at things the way they want them. There is lots of excellent analysis on this board. Are we getting too good for ourselves on this board? Anyway, IMHO we will emerge out winners and NOK gets to eat all its crap.

macc14, Thsnks. So, it is just technical fueled by market.
-vg_future
Anybody know why we are taking the beating? TIA
-vg_future
Anyone, is there any importance to the financials filed by IDCC this morning (Yahoo is showing it as news)? Is this a regular filing or dependent on some other happening?
TIA.
