OT: The similar situation with IDCC was late June early July of 2006. It closed just over $35 on June 29 and then an analyst at Piper put out a less-than-well-informed opinion and stock kept falling. I believe it went back to $26 or so. IDCC is now back in the $34-35 range. I don't know how to post a chart, but you can go to IHub's IDCC board, and pull up the one year chart....very dramatic drop at that time. All the IDCC poster comments were the same..."how low can it go?", "manipulation!", etc.
All will be well, IMO. SMSI is just currently being toyed with.
Hey L2V or revlis.....you guys still in SMSI? When was it that "Armpit"'s comments caused this same reaction with IDCC, i.e., a mediocre reason for a downgrade followed by a major sell-off? It's like the analyst's comments are a code to alert select parties to a sell-off. Those who are 'in-the-know' win big.
This, too, shall pass.
Certainly makes it tough on the individual investor at times.

palacian...yeah, probably, but it doesn't matter to me anymore. I think most people have left the stock or really cut their holdings.
That basher on RB wouldn't last here on IHub. I believe after a couple days of his skewed antics, Matt would toss him.
A little tidbit....if you do a google on that first grader-idiot pbrain who is posting all over various BIPH boards, and then do a corresponding google on all the message board companies he hounds... it seems those companies have an uncanny link to Iroquois. (Iroquois Master Fund, Iroquois Capital, etc.) Imagine that?
MW really f**d up when he tied the golden goose to them. What a shame.
Whoa...I checked in on the ole' Atomic Boobs (as laranger's coffee shop likes to call it) and there was quite the exchange today between teecee and F6. I gotta say...I'm giving F6 at least 10 stars for his replies. I remember when teecee was calling a buyout at 30-35, but I see he didn't sell. Now he's upped it to 50-60.
It seems every time the share price languishes, people start the buyout talk. Krap on that.
I think some people have been in this stock so long they can't think straight: they own a ton of shares; if they sell now and IDCC goes to the proverbial moon then they're pizzed; but,on the other hand, they're pizzed now because the share price languishes; so they chant the buyout theme because then the decision is made for them.
Sheesh.
I'll 'second' that request. Site for me is very slow this morning.
Investor's Business Daily
Software Maker Rings Up Music For Cell Phones, Taking On Apple
Wednesday March 7, 7:00 pm ET
Marilyn Alva
The volume is turning up for Smith Micro Software's wireless music business.
Since January 2006, when it launched its Music Essentials kit, Smith's (NasdaqGM:SMSI - News) wireless music business has become its No. 1 sales line.
It got a boost in late November when prime customer Verizon Wireless made available Smith's new add-on feature, QuickLink Music Manager.
Music Essentials includes software and hardware and allows users to connect their handsets with their personal computers. The new QuickLink manager is all high-margin software. It lets handset users build and manage their music files.
"Smith provides a user interface for managing music in a similar fashion to iTunes, the 800-pound gorilla" said Anton Wahlman, an analyst with ThinkEquity Partners. His firm co-managed a secondary offering for Smith in December.
ITunes Competitor
"As far as I can see, the Smith Micro product is the first to seriously compete against Apple's (NasdaqGS:AAPL - News) iTunes," Wahlman said.
QuickLink kicked in only about a month or so of revenue in Smith's fourth quarter. But it was a factor in Smith's 169% jump in revenue vs. the year-earlier quarter.
Of the $17.2 million in fourth-quarter revenue, music from handsets chimed in to the tune of $8.6 million. That was up from $3.9 million in the first quarter. Much of the rest comes from cable kits and data connectivity products.
Music's in the air. Apple recently said it would bring out the music handset iPhone with partner Cingular Wireless.
Rather than harm Smith, industry watchers say Apple's entry would likely help it. "It would be healthy for the industry as a whole," said James Alexander, an analyst with Jefferies & Co.
Smith execs don't seem too alarmed. "In our minds, the iPhone is just validating the music side of the handset business," said Bruce Quigley, vice president of investor relations. "We welcome that."
Smith would also welcome more customers. Other than an Israeli carrier, Verizon Wireless is Smith's only music customer.
Verizon also buys Smith's PC connectivity cable kits. Verizon Wireless made up 74% of Smith's revenue in the fourth quarter.
While such a high concentration of sales in one customer is always a risk, analysts say Verizon Wireless isn't likely to leave Smith in the lurch anytime soon.
It's not a bad customer to have. "Verizon is very serious about its music initiative," Alexander said. "It has a lot of advertising spending behind it and Smith Micro is benefiting from that."
It's only a matter of time before other customers sign on, some say. Smith's music applications "have unlimited appeal," writes analyst Kevin Dede of Merriman Curhan Ford. "Carrier interest is very high in light of device convergence."
Smith execs say they are working to broaden their customer base to include other carriers as well as handset operators. New-customer announcements are in the future, they promise.
In Smith's fourth-quarter earnings report Feb. 28, CEO William Smith said, "We have only begun to touch the surface of the opportunity that lies ahead of us."
Smith's purchase in early February of Ecutel, a security software firm, and its pending buy of Insignia Solutions' assets mean cross-selling opportunities, analysts say.
Though Insignia has been struggling to stay afloat, it will bring new wireless data services to Smith's product mix and sales reps in South Korea and Sweden.
Opportunity
Those new selling opportunities wouldn't likely end on a music note. Insignia's ties with 25 wireless operators could translate into sales for Smith's music, image and data applications, writes analyst Dede.
In addition, Smith is working to retool its image-compression technology for the wireless market. Known as StuffIt, it hasn't generated much if any revenue. But the company is working to change that.
In the recent conference call, CEO Smith said the firm is in "deep discussions" with handset makers to design StuffIt compression solutions into their mobile phones.
"They have a number of technologies in the background that have the potential to be a game changer," said Alexander, of Jefferies & Co. He noted that Smith has a trial under way with one handset operator to further compress JPEG files for picture messaging.
Not Just Music
"Smith will make software for other stuff besides music, like pictures and video," analyst Wahlman said. "They're working on it, and they will have something this year."
And with $60 million in hand from the December offering, Smith execs are on the prowl to buy new technology and businesses -- especially in wireless.
"We are very focused on becoming, without a doubt, the absolute dominant player in the worldwide wireless software business," CEO Smith said in the call. "And anybody (who) doubts this, they are fooling themselves."
If and when that will happen is still an open question. After nearly tripling last year, Smith's earnings are estimated to rise 26% this year to 87 cents a share, according to a poll by Thomson Financial.
Analysts expect earnings to grow 20% in 2008.

Jagman or others...is anyone having trouble getting on the Investor Village site?
Hey, Jagman...I had hoped BIPH would be an investment, but knew all along it was a real risk. Fortunately, that's how I played it in my portfolio. No harm done.
Who knows what will happen with it, but I'm more comfortable being out of it at this time.

Interesting that Dutton Associates raised it's rating to strong speculative buy on Oct 13, after the PIPE. They still think the SBI financing is a strength....? My bold...

Biophan Technologies, Inc. Announces $7.25 Million Financing; Increasing Rating to Strong Speculative Buy
On October 12, 2006, Biophan Technologies, Inc. (Biophan) announced a financing consisting of Senior Secured Convertible Notes in
the amount of $7.25 million, repayable in thirty-three equal monthly installments. The notes are convertible into common shares at a
conversion price of $0.67 per share, with principal and interest payable at a minimum of 10% and a maximum of 12% per annum.
Biophan has the choice of paying principal and interest in cash or common stock. The notes are secured by a first priority security
interest in substantially all of the Biophan's assets.
Investors in the notes, will receive warrants equal to the amount of shares into which the notes may be converted, with 50%
exercisable at $0.81 (110% of October 11, 2006, closing share price) and 50 % exercisable at $0.89 (120% of October 11, 2006,
closing share price). In addition, the investors also have the option to purchase an additional $7.25 million of common stock at a price
of $0.67 per share, with warrants for 50 % of the amount of shares issued exercisable at 115% of the share price, and 50 %
exercisable at 125% of the share price. Biophan has agreed to register all common stock issuable upon conversion of the notes, upon
exercise of the warrants, or in payment of principal and interest on the note
SUMMARY
Biophan continues to be an attractive speculation based on its technologies to improve MRI safety and image compatibility of medical
devices, its MYOTECH MYO-VAD(TM) - a new, MRI-compatible cardiac recovery system has significant potential to improve the
treatment of many forms of heart disease. We believe the relationship with Boston Scientific, the financing agreement with SBI, and the
possibility of further relationships with major medical device companies makes Biophan an attractive speculation. We did express our
concern for Biophan's need for financing in our September 26, 2006, report, when we noted the negative working capital. However, this
financing goes far to solve Biophan's cash liquidity problems and allays our concerns. Consequently, because of this financing and the
relatively low price of the stock, we are increasing our rating to a Strong Speculative Buy and adjusting our 12-month price target to
$2.00 per share from $3.00.

OT...EP..thanks for your thoughts. Have you ever perused the Investor Village board site? It has a lot of great features, all for free and the site gained more posters after the yahoo boards "upgraded" their site. What a fiasco that was...caused it to join the worthlessness of the RB site, IMO. Glad your other trades are going well.....regards...
Hi EP...I thought at one time you could do PM's...yes, my interest is in your TA for BIPH. Do you see a "pop" in it's future?
And, as an OT: have you seen how SMSI has raced back from it's decline a couple months ago? Traders love it...hope you've picked up some $$$ playing that one. I'm just holding it, for the long haul.
Wald...I'm just curious and understand if you don't care to reply. I looked at your posting history and you participate in the ALMI, NNAN and BIPH boards. What is it about these three (since they are "cousins") that interests you so much that you'd (apparently) invest in all of them? Do you know Mike Weiner? What is your personal opinion of BIPH's PIPE financing? Thanks for whatever your reply.
For me, out of those three mentioned, I'm only in BIPH, have reduced my holding, and plan to exit fully on a "pop"...if that can occur.
The late 10Q will likely outline the current state of affairs with the SBI financing. Where's that financing and why a PIPE? Looks like the patent thicket ain't worth thit.
That's nice...I took some time to re-read some of her posts and they confirm what a gentle lady she was. My sympathies to all her family.
From the news PR about the flip-flop, the company obviously liked the name enough to TM it. I don't mind the name at all, and don't automatically associate it to something cheesy or inferior. I think of it as something that can be interchanged or alternated. The way the PR described it, that's the angle their going for, don't you think? Whatever...they still need to get in production and sold!
"...Flip-Flop(TM) mouse: It is a radical new design which allows users to work in their preferred posture by "flipping" the upper body of the device into an upright position to work in the less fatigue inducing "grip-less" position or "flopping" it down so as to be in the currently more familiar palm down position.
August 31, 2006 - 11:00 AM EST
Biophan Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: BIPH; FWB: BTN), a developer of next-generation medical technology, today announced that a patent, for which it holds exclusive rights, has issued, covering nanomagnetic coatings on medical devices.
Nanomagnetic coatings have a broad array of applications in medical imaging and drug delivery, including:
-- Imaging of devices such as stents under MRI by using nanomagnetic particle coatings to generate resonant circuits that allow visualization of in-stent restenosis and clotting. This provides a non-invasive alternative to the angiograms generally used for such diagnostics.
-- Imaging and tracking of catheters and guidewires under MRI and X-Ray.
-- Controlled drug release
-- Generation of heat for antithrombotic and anti-cancer treatments
U.S. Patent No. 7,091,412 covers the placement of nanomagnetic coatings on medical devices that are exposed to biological tissues. While many other Biophan patents cover the specific applications listed above, this patent covers the fundamental use of a nanomagnetic coating on a medical device within certain parameters.
"We are very pleased with the continuing growth of our patent portfolio which supports the company's technology solutions. We have continued to move forward in our negotiations with market leaders for a license to our technologies for MRI safety of pacemakers and implantable defibrillators. We are continuing to see a strong interest in these technologies as we move closer to a significant transaction," stated Michael Weiner, Biophan CEO.
