updated numbers; 9 posts before 8:30 for cpa
That should finish him for the day before 11 unless he gets a new shelf..........like a paid membership.
While interesting reading re PP I would have expected nothing less than some fancy footwork by Wave. What the heck. this is a dicey time & a risky business. George Gilder said so himself , & he's on their Board.
hmmmmmmmmmm..I reckon that puts Gilder on board so to speak.
I kind of like that

Endpoint Security. awk I found this following your lead on Roger Kay.
Here's the link
http://www.ndpta.com/DefiningEndpoint.html
there's quite a bit of text but it resolves to this, the final paragraphs:
"Endpoint Security. Now, down to Al's pet subject, and the reason for all this fiddlefaddle in the
first place. Endpoint security is the set of hardware, software, and procedures associated with
protecting the network from harm when an endpoint accesses network services. Endpoint
security also covers access to the endpoint device itself, sometimes known as "authentication."
The key aspect of endpoint security is that it involves both the device and the user. Endpoint
security, as promoted by the Trusted Computing Group, an industry association working on
security standards, requires that the user be verified as being who he or she says he or she is —
that is, by way of a password (something he or she knows), a biometric measurement
(something he or she is), or a token (something he or she has). In addition, the device must be
authenticated (i.e., through a compare of some metrics unique to that system). Finally, the state
or health of the device must be determined before it can be let on the privileged network. For
example, if a virus definition file is out of date, depending on policy, access is disallowed, the
requesting system is shunted to a restricted area for remediation (e.g., getting that virus definition
file topped off), or the machine is let on anyway.
Thus, endpoint security is concerned with verifying the user, the device, and the device state so as
to protect the network. Endpoint security will become progressively more important as more value
and more people migrate toward the Internet. In order for eCommerce to work, people and
assets need to be protected, and all participants need to have confidence that the system works.
Conclusion
The reason that I felt it necessary to define endpoint with greater precision is that understanding
the nature of the perimeter and the relationship between perimeter elements and the center is
going to become increasingly important to defending the growing value of Internet traffic. It is
highly conceivable that in the not-too-distant future, endpoints will be required to authenticate for
any transaction, and IT managers as well as individuals using Internet services will want to know
where the edge of the network really is. An endpoint will be the locus of trust certification.
Inasmuch as endpoint peripherals need to be taken into account, they will be part of the endpoint
profile (i.e., a query might ask whether a endpoint has an MP3 player attached to it, but the
presence of the player will be registered in the endpoint itself).
As form factors proliferate, the array of client devices that users will be able to choose from will
become nearly bewildering. But all of these devices will be endpoints that can be tested for
security, whether or not client-like peripherals are hanging off of them."
I agree Snackman. We've been trading in this range for weeks , so now to see things hold up so well on what is arguably the worst news(which was already factored in, imho) this year, I'd say were looking pretty sweet.

so cpa, re: facts. Was it fully subscribed? Or just not as advertised?
Elan
Dutchbj,I hear you. Re "accredited investors" do have any sense as to who they are? I sure hope they're friendly ,cause from what I can discern WAVX has been ravaged severly by shorts over the years. I'd hate to see any replays but I guess it's going to be rocky on the way up no matter how you cut it.
I enjoy your input, thanks for all the effort.
Hope to see you @ 10 someday
....soon.

VH Nice. End of March less than 18mo.by my latest calculations.
Elan
"The work's been going on for a couple of years now," Willett said in an interview. "We're shooting for the end of March, possibly early April for an internal spec. It's all of the hard drive companies, the flash people – all the technical guys are involved. We're here today to let the rest of the world know what we're doing."

S.Sprague/Geo. Westinghouse & Destiny
INVENTIVE MIND
George Westinghouse, Jr., the son of a man who made farm machinery in New York, may have been the most productive inventor on record. He helped perpetuate the Industrial Revolution with his instinctive drive to resolve social and commercial obstacles. George's creations changed the way society lived and how people travelled, perhaps more than any single individual.
Westinghouse was born in Central Bridge, New York on October 6, 1846. From early age, he had a creative mind (see "other creative minds" below) and his father's shop was just the place to try out new ideas. Once when asked to cut some pipe, George, instead, designed a power device that cut the pipes automatically in a fraction of the time thought necessary. At age 19, he received his first patent: a design for a rotary engine. A year later, home from the Civil War, Westinghouse found his destiny.
DESTINY
In 1866, perhaps the year that changed his life, George was riding a train suddenly brought to a halt to avoid colliding into a wrecked train on the rails ahead. Inspecting the sight, he mused that there must be a safer way to stop a heavy train. Existing braking systems were inadequate.
Based on compressed air - the idea used to power rock drills while tunneling - George began to experiment with a new type of braking system for trains. At 22 years of age, he developed the air brake, a device that stopped trains using compressed air. Legendary success insured, he pressed on.

IMHO there is an analogy here.

hamster,
Ouchhhhh... been there done that too.
No doubt many longs are truly long suffering but they have maintained a high level of integrity on this board without bashing the Wave suits. JMHO the day of redemption is close at hand. Closer than 6 yrs anyway.
I get the impression that Snackman & a few others started all this when IBM still had punchcards.

you don't go to jail for being right..and nice about it, and you are both. I for one appreciate your constant vigilance. You guys (& you know who you are) do a great job. It's easy to see who got caught holding & in a way I feel sorry for them, but what's done is done.

This consulting deal may be tiny, but its significance is certainly realized by this gang.
Wavoids are an amazing lot, the DD on this board is truly amazing. I only hope those who have suffered the longest reap the most.

JMHO I think it's great they want to "consult" to us, especially at this stage.

BTW awk, you have been a real Must Read today.
Re the army. Uncle Sam's salute to Wave signals their approval to me.
& a little of that little rally was me adding a little more.
Looks like we have a "Customer" =one who purchases a commodity or service.
My thnx to you awk for cutting through the fog. Just marked you and see I have some reading ahead.
My Regards
Elan
gowave,Did you mean this?"I'm right and everyone else here is dead wrong"
And I thought you were just a glass 1/2 empty sort of fellow.
Guess I was wrong.
OT Fullmoon
Thanks for the welcome. I'm new at IH & this is my one & only alias.
I would expect security to be the biggest growth market within the Internet world. No longer seeing much chance of making money w/ MSFT ORCL etc. in the near future my senses have led me here. With this market so unforgiving I've pretty much stayed on the sidelines & remained in $$$ & long term holds since the implosion.
WAVX seems to always headline here @ IH as it did @ the Fool, SI, RB so i've been checking it out. It's been a lot to take in, but from what I can see if they pull off what they have in mind this could be enormous.....of course jmho.
I do have a question/s of sorts if you don't mind.
I don't know all the specifics about Wave. But, anything "trusted" involves encryption. The problem with encryption is with exporting and with the actual encryption technique. It is unlawful to sell encryption techniques that the US Govt doesn't approve (I read into this; if they cannot break it, you cannot sell it). Also, exporting encryption products is strictly controlled by the US Govt. If Wave has an export license, then it should be smooth (they probably do since their product is being sold by OEMs, I assume, all over the world). I'm curious as to the Wave products and what encryption technique they use. The authentication part (identification), I think, isn't covered by export restrictions.
From the TEIS press release @ wave .com I read:"The teaming agreement envisions that Wave will supply its computing solutions products....."
I extrapolate from this statement that Wave has or soon will be squared away w/ Uncle Sam.
So the question is: Are my assumptions correct& am I on the right track?
TIA
..and sorry if this has all been hashed out previously
I am just a blind squirrel trying to confirm that he has indeed found a nut.

Hmmm....that would put WAVX @ $1.00 & you @ 100%
Sorry if I stuck a raw nerve. Believe me, I empathize w/ the long hard road so many of you have followed, and truly hope for much better days soon.

THNX barge. Fullmoon w/ all due respect I was re: to the plethora of PR I've poured over at Wave.com Arcives. Leave out the dates and a lot of what happened then, ie 1999-2005 has a familiar tenor.
The Spragues are brilliant and 5-10 yrs out in front of the market...no fault of their own. JMHO but I've put my money on them.
The difference today is Deployment..........
so that was then & this is now.
I am in no way mocking Peter or anyone in management.
My reference to a HP/Compaq connection was re: N*ABLE Technologies
<<<# July 28 - Wave Systems Acquires N*ABLE Technologies >>>
That is from the Wave 1999 archives, and some where in my digging around I thought I'd seen a N*ABLE / Compaq connection.
Maybe I'm wrong.
Am I?
TIA
Elan
barge , why all this tease n' tickle under the covers yet they never seem to do the deed?
didn't Wave have some deal going w/ HP via Compaq years ago?
TIA
Elan
abe, imho you simply got a rep who couldn't find you an answer. The fact that "He admitted not knowing everything about their Client Security Solutons" ought to tell you something.

Nice job

barge, you've been carrying the H2O far longer than I have so I suppose I'm less slogged out.
Have a great night
Later
Elan
barge, W/ a dream PR & WAVX over a buck the yazoos over at Yahoo will follow in D as in Droves.
In the meantime yeah it stinks but 4M+ traded the other day w/out their input and the D still looks like Deployment to me.
Although that is of course JMHO
Regards
& keep up the darned good work
Elan
Snackman, hopefully puting it in proper perspective will be enough. Obviously nothing has changed & won't till April, but in the same way the latest positive NEWS/straws/tidbits launchs vigorous discourse & shouts of joy, so to does the dark unknown send chills .
JMHO but I think we're done w/ it for now.
Regards
Elan
Snackman, the D has been bantered about all afternoon as delisting which it ain't. So what's wrong with calling it what it is....Delinquent.
I'm done w/ it and bought more before the close just for good measure.
And BTW thnx for setting up & maintaining this terrific board.
