Looking good, alpine...hopefully soon you'll be canning some of those beans!
oh yes great fishing. When you are at this lake, you are only about half an hour east of the ocean, so great salt water fishing too.
Salmon, prawns and crab, cod...yummy
Woah! I used to live about an hour away from Powell Lake. It is a beautiful part of the Sunshine Coast.
glad to hear that!!
Oh no! I hope he will be OK
agree with you here
Kellogg's is under fire now for using GMO's in their foods. Check out this article and read some of the comments on the Kellogg's Facebook page.

Hopefully not too many peope fall for the "let us know if you grow a garden, so we can fund your community" bullcrap.
I'm glad you took the time to do the petition Eddie...even one person can make a difference.
Now if 37 gets passed in Cali, I would be really happy!
30,000 people agreed with you and completed the online petition to allow them to keep their garden in the front yard.
Power in numbers :) Social media is really helping get the word out!
Woot! A big Thumbs up for Gardeners, we voted and we WON!!
Drummonville council backs down and now will let anyone have a front yard garden!

A Victory for Frontyard and Backyard Gardeners everywhere!!
They are at it again, what a waste of taxpayer money!
US Agriculture Department spends 2 Million on a program that resulted in one hire.

That sounds wonderful!
Our local farmer's market has grown a lot in just the last 2 years as well. Great!
I think you should have all of us over for a homegrown meal, Chris!
I am so hoping that lots of people put in a Fall garden this year. With the drought and the rising food prices, planting a fall garden would be a good thing to do.
$15 - $20 worth of seed and hope the rain comes :) That's cheap investment for all the food that could be harvested.
Some of this stuff just boggles my mind...
This is great - nice that she is able to help, and I love the house. There's a demand for construction like this.
I'm looking forward to see how it all progresses for you.
alpine, that is a Great Video! And I love the house, good on ya :)
Nope, but I will!
Here's a link to an article about the Oregon fellow who is doing JAILTIME for collecting rainwater on his own property.

That's Awesome!!
Thanks oo, I will pass this one on over on Facebook
There is a petition going to get council to back down from this stupid attempt at enforcement:
http://www.causes.com/causes/11991-plant-healthy-gardens-feed-a-hungry-world/actions/1667714
Please consider going over and including your name.
Uggh, this is total nonsense! But everyone on this board would likely agree about that.
I guess what those people need to do now is figure out the square footage of their front yard, and sow 30% of it into grass.
Thanks for posting this, I am going to include it on our website.
Yes I'll bet it is quite different from home! I hope she keeps up with the healthier eating after you are gone.
Nibbling while working in the garden is a huge bonus. Graham often walks through the garden to have his lunch, works well for him and he keeps an eye on how things are doing out there as well.
I am posting that information over on the website tomorrow. I'd like to keep up to date with the proposition in California.
Thanks again for posting it here.
It's so lush, are you canning or freezing anything for later in the year?
Thanks for posting this Todd
Are you going to be canning anything Chris? It sounds like you have a wonderful harvest going on.
Amazing to me that council thinks this is a BAD thing...crazy
It all looks so wonderful and healthy, you have a great garden. Less weeds now because your plants have taken over the rows, awesome.
Extra zuccini needs to be placed in your neighbours car, that they leave out in driveway :)
At least, that's the way we do it.
I had the opportunity to be face to face with Chad Everett. He held a door open for me in a restaurant in Malibu CA about 15 years ago. He was very polite and kind.
He was very handsome on TV, but wow he was gorgeous in real life.
Thanks Eddie, my friend was talking about how good it is for your intestinal health.
moxa, have u ever had kim chee? (I don't know if that spelling is correct.)
My friend just brought us some and she makes her own, says it is very good for you.
All caught up again on the posts :) I am finding I never have enough hours in the day to get all done that I want.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday!
About that slime that forms, when I did fermented cabbage for sauerkraut, I did something different.
The idea of the slime grossed me out, so I covered the cabbage with a piece of plastic wrap. I Made sure that ALL of the cabbage was covered. Then I used a Large Ziplock, filled abou 3/4 way with water and placed it on top of the plastic wrap.
No air, so no slime. Worked really well. I'm not sure I could eat something that had slime on the top, even if it did all get skimmed off!
You'd think that with that amount of people wanting the labels, the government would OK it for sure.
Let's wait and see what happens. Somehow, I don't feel very optimistic!
Unreal, these guys never stop!
Thanks for posting this, I am going to put it on my website, with credit to you.
Planting clover would help attract bees too, Eddie, if you have any area left that is lawn, you could change it out to clover.
