EZ - It is just some weekend off topic discussion. If you prefer I could always post something like "I´m not sure but I believe one member of our managment is in the Central Committee of the PRC" even though I have no basis for making that statement. Then we could discuss the possibility that HRCT management is actually running China and are hiding billions of dollars of potential future revenues.
Yes, it has often worked historically. No, I don't think we should kill all that oppose us. We do have a problem.... The government must do what is necessary to attempt to prevent further incidents such as those which occurred in NYC and the Pentagon on 9/11. As I write this I am listening to Colin Powell on Fox News Sunday and he has outlined the options available. He hasn't stated that "do nothing" is one of the options. While I don't think Bush has the mental capacity to open a jar of peanut butter, Colin Powell isn't in that same catagory.
I am not advocating that we engage in a wholesale attack on Iraq not because I have any sympathy for Saddam or his ilk, but because I don't think it would accomplish anything substantial without a commitment to virtually occupy the country for an extended period of time (a decade or more) while a new regime is established. On the other hand it would appear that some form of action is going to be necessary.
TFN.....
1. I know that you were making that statement - it just isn't supported by any evidence that it is a true one.
2. You have not made a case that his wealth has anything to do with his position or that his position even amounts to a "death hunt."
TFN - As for American foreign policy in the Middle East being based on self interest.... It has more to do with the economic interests (read oil) of the US than Bush's personal wealth but many disagree that it should be based on that. I don't since almost all of our foreign policy has always been based on that premise as is that of most countries. Of course I don't have much respect for most of the Middle Eastern governments since they are either dictatorships or monarchies with the primary goal of enriching those in power to the detriment of the populace of those countries. Specifically the Saudi Arabian royal family is, for the most part, a bunch of self indulgent scumbags that have no interest other than promoting their own personal position. Sadaam on the other hand may not even be sane in the normal sense but he isn't even the basic problem. If, in fact, he intends to develop and use an atomic weapon then he is an immediate threat that must be dealt with but it will not solve the long term problem.
Yes, I am looking at the situation from the viewpoint of an American citizen but what other viewpoint should I take? I am not a Pollyanna and I don't think world peace will result if "we could all just get along."
TFN - Apparently anyone who disagrees with you is a "so called patriot." Doesn't every American have the right to harbor his/her own viewpoint? I haven't expressed my own opinion on the "attack Sadaam" issue because I have insufficient credible information on the subject. The link you posted to the article in the Scotsman has a lot of the publicly available information which depending on one's point of view, may or may not support action to one extent or another but that information is pretty well supported and there is no evidence that it is "trumped up." Other pronouncements by the current administration in Washington don't have much evidence behind them but the nature of intelligence gathering will always preclude the general population from knowing all the relevant facts that are available to the government.
The only position you have brought forth here on this board is that you don't like Bush, you have some problem with his personal wealth, and apparently some other reasons for disliking certain members of his administration which are not clear.
I agree that Clinton's motivations were more basic.... mostly originating below his belt. I do have to disagree that he was hated since he was reelected for a second term which would tend to indicate that he had majority support with the voters.
Exactly. There isn't much of a problem with voices being heard..... This issue is getting about as much discussion and debate as any in recent memory both within and outside of government. Of course whatever the final decision, those who don't agree with it will say there wasn't enough debate just because they don't agree with the final course of action.
How does one get to be "more" Americian than any other citizen? Jefferson said we were all equal. Is it a point system? Do we get points for how many generations our family has lived here even though we contributed nothing to this particular status? Do I get bonus points because Lyndon Johnson sent me to Nam? Can I achieve a higher moral ground if I fly a flag in my front yard? Maybe I can be just a little "more" Americian if I put a "Real Americian" bumper sticket on my car?
What does the amount of money one has have to do with a particular position on foreign policy? Were all of Kennedy's positions tainted because of his personal wealth?
If you have a position on the issue then try to stick to arguments that are relative to it.
I guess he could always do nothing like Clinton did and we could erect another memorial to the next 4000 people they kill.
Intel cuts prices on its chips up to 52 percent
September 03, 2002 7:42:00 PM ET
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Intel Corp. (INTC) cut prices on its microprocessors by as much as 52 percent over the U.S. holiday weekend as the world's largest chipmaker makes room for faster chips and passes on manufacturing efficiencies to customers.
The price cuts, made on Sunday, come less than a week after Intel introduced its fastest Pentium 4 to date, running at 2.8 gigahertz, or 2.8 billion clicks per second. Intel, for example, cut the price of its Pentium 4 chip running at 2.4 gigahertz by 52 percent to $193 from $400 each, in lots of 1,000.
The price cuts, which were largely expected and typically come within a week or so of a new chip introduction, follow price cuts by its chief rival in the market for microprocessors, Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD), on August 21. Intel unveiled its 2.8 gigahertz Pentium 4 on August 26.
Intel also pared prices on its Pentium 4 chip operating at 2.4 gigahertz and 2.26 gigahertz by 20 percent. The 2.4 gigahertz and 2.26 gigahertz chips now cost $193, down from $241.
The Santa Clara, California-based company also reduced prices on its Celeron processors, which are aimed at entry-level PCs costing $600 or less.
Declines ranged from 14 percent to 19 percent, with the 1.8 gigahertz Celeron now costing $83, down from $103, representing a decline of 19 percent. Intel cut the price of its slowest Celeron by 14 percent, and the 1.3 gigahertz Celeron now costs $64, down from $74.
The recently introduced Pentium 4M processor, designed for use in laptop computers, also saw prices fall. The fastest version of that chip, running at 2 gigahertz, now costs $348, down 45 percent from $637. Its slowest Pentium 4M now costs $171, down 29 percent from $241.
Intel also cut prices on its Celeron chips for laptop computers by 17 percent to 44 percent, and prices for its Xeon chips for server computers, by 15 percent to 19 percent. The company also reduced prices on its Pentium III-S chips for servers by 17 percent to 33 percent.
Intel's fastest chip, the Pentium 4 running at 2.8 gigahertz, costs $508, in line with what it has historically charged for its highest-performing processor. REUTERS
andi - You don't have to worry about HRCT paying taxes anywhere until they make a profit......
Minddoc is still here. We PM each other about baseball almost every day. He has just been up to his Id in work.
The foolish and wicked practice of profane cursing and swearing is a vice so mean and low, that every person of sense and character detests and despises it. - George Washington
Profanity never did any man the least good. No man is the richer, or the happier, or wiser, for it. It commends no one to any society. It is disgusting to the refined; abominable to the good; insulting to those with whom we associate; degrading to the mind; unprofitable, needless, and injurious to society.
It is the last refuge of the ignorant.
I just find the situation to be a problem for me and I offered several solutions. No response was offered to my suggestions except for "If you don't like it, go elsewhere." That doesn't seem like a very adult reaction to me.
I didn't say you made the statement.... just noted that you agreed with it.
If insipid posts are what you want, I'll stick to those listed below.
1. News coming soon!!!
2. We will all be millionaires by the end of the year!
3. Spin-off shares will make us rich!
4. Revenues will double next quarter!
5. HRCT will be profitable by 1st quarter.... er, 2nd quarter... er, 3rd quarter..... well, the 4th quarter for sure!
6. Everything will be great in just 2 more weeks!
This will be easy since no brains are required to make those posts and no real discussion needs to take place. No understanding of the company is required and one does cerrtainly not need to assess the future potential of activities of the company.
I see..... Toe the party line and don't express any opinions we don't agree with and you can stay. Post somewhere else if you don't want to preach to the choir. Karl Marx would have loved you.
The default settings aren't the problem; the constant changes to the Ibox are. If changes arent' made several times a day the "hide info" button works fine.
You must have a special feature to keep the Ibox hidden that the rest of us don't have. You missed the cartoons that appeared and disappeared today.
Berrygood - As for being vilified..... How would you interpret "If you don't like this board go back to RAGINGBULLSHIPPPPP!!!!!"
As for the vote.... It was preordained because the question being voted on had nothing to do with the original complaint.
Post 12925 doesn't answer the question because it doesn't have anything to do with the complaint or the solution.
I have not objected to any off topic discussion. The board would be boring without it. From my point of view; the more posts the better. My complaint (or suggestion) was intended to make the board easier to access and read for those poor souls of us who don't have broadband access. If you want to post cartoons, why not put them in a regular post so we only have to see them once. Jokes are only funny the first time.
Could you explain what all the changes to the board info have to do with HRCT? Those hundreds of hours of work would be reduced considerably without all the cartoons and Elvis music. Where exactly is the HRCT discussion?
If EZ and Berrygood don't want input on how to make the board better they can say so.
I see you are back to changing the board info every 15 minutes.
I am beginning to hate this vote business since it is founded on a false premise. I never said that I thought the board was too biZE, just that the constant changes to the info box were irritating since there is no way to hide the box when you guys are making constant changes to it.
See post 12822
I didn't vote for #1.
It's not that I don't like Elvis.......
The subject of the problem isn't off topic posts..... it is the board info section.
My vote is "None of the above." My complaint isn't that it has too much or too little; it is that it is changed too often so that the "hide" feature is useless.
I think an honest assessment would show that most of the changes are unrelated to HRCT (unless Elvis is a serious candidate for CEO) and it has become a bad as the "pop up" ads the net is littered with.
Berrygood - The "Hide the Box" only works until you guys make a change and then it appears again..... which seems to be about 5 times a day. I have to agree with olddog here - you can't get rid of it as long as you guys make changes so frequently and it is irritating.
Interesting theory..... Kill 3,000 people and then sue because they are harassing you about it.
Saudis Plan to Sue U.S. over Sept. 11
by Ghaida Ghantous
Wednesday, August 21, 2002 10:44 a.m. EDT
DUBAI (Reuters) - A group of Saudis plan to sue the U.S. government and media organizations for the alleged psychological and financial damage they suffered in the aftermath of September 11, their lawyer said on Wednesday.
"Tens of Saudi nationals seriously plan to file lawsuits against U.S. government, civil and media entities, the majority of whom are students who had been attending American universities and were forced to leave," Saudi lawyer Katib al-Shamri said.
He said the plan had gathered pace after families of 900 people killed in the hijacked airliner attacks filed a lawsuit last week in Washington against Saudi nationals and institutions alleging they had funded terrorism and seeking damages of over $100 trillion.
The civil suit accuses three senior Saudi princes, several Saudi and other foreign banks and Sudan's government of funding Osama bin Laden, the key U.S. suspect in the attacks.
The Saudi banks have denied any role in funding terrorism and say the case is an attempt to extort Saudi wealth and pressure Saudi Arabia to conform with U.S. policies on Iraq and the Middle East .
"We had been waiting to raise funds to hire U.S. lawyers and also for things to quiet down in the United States , but it seems the campaign against Saudi Arabia is continuing with that bogus and politicized U.S. lawsuit," Shamri told Reuters by telephone.
"Our case will seek reasonable compensation," he said. "It is the right time to proceed."
Shamri said the potential plaintiffs included Saudis whose names had initially been listed among the hijackers of the planes that crashed into U.S. landmarks.
Others want to sue U.S. law enforcement officers for harassing them in the hunt for the perpetrators. Hundreds of Saudis have been questioned by U.S. authorities investigating the attacks.
Washington has named 15 Saudis among the 19 hijackers.
Shamri, a member of an international legal committee set up to defend detainees at a U.S. base in Cuba, also called on the United States to allow families of more than 100 Saudi nationals held there to visit their sons.
The prisoners were captured in the U.S.-led war against al Qaeda, blamed for the September 11 attacks, and against the Taliban government that sheltered them in Afghanistan.
"Most of the Saudi detainees are innocent and were carrying out charity and humanitarian work in Afghanistan. Others are very young and were fooled," Shamri said. He called on U.S. authorities to charge the detainees or release them.

LOL - Since you may have solved the case of the missing CFO maybe you could work on where our new CEO came from?
I am more curious about the missing CFO..... Was he done in by a serial killer? Or wasn't he able to find the new office? Maybe he busy planning the annual stockholders meeting? BTW exactly where and when is that meeting?
Check the signatures at the bottom of the 10Q..... You might want to ask what happened to our CFO.
Easy come, easy go. The average tenure of a HRCT CEO is about 6 months.......
WMT is still getting the job done.... Nice article with a few insights for investing in other companies.
"If your product performs, it's on the shelf," said Cannondale's Harris. "You don't have to pay slotting fees, you don't have to pay advertising allowances; it's all about whether your product will sell or it won't."
If one is interested in investing in consumer manufacturers, then looking at what WMT has on the shelf will tell you something about what is selling. With other stores selling their shelf space, you can't tell if something is really moving.
You should have started earlier....
