Yes, it has often worked historically. No, I don't think we should kill all that oppose us. We do have a problem.... The government must do what is necessary to attempt to prevent further incidents such as those which occurred in NYC and the Pentagon on 9/11. As I write this I am listening to Colin Powell on Fox News Sunday and he has outlined the options available. He hasn't stated that "do nothing" is one of the options. While I don't think Bush has the mental capacity to open a jar of peanut butter, Colin Powell isn't in that same catagory.
I am not advocating that we engage in a wholesale attack on Iraq not because I have any sympathy for Saddam or his ilk, but because I don't think it would accomplish anything substantial without a commitment to virtually occupy the country for an extended period of time (a decade or more) while a new regime is established. On the other hand it would appear that some form of action is going to be necessary.
