My husband and I recently talked about opening E*TRADE accounts for our kids (when we have them) - and adding money to it every year for their birthday....not anything crazy - long term plays that could help teach them investing early on - and make it fun....because it's their money.

My 5 1/2 year old niece was very excited to get an envelope with 10 bucks for her kindergarten graduation - and her 2 yr old brother followed.

I really wanna do this for my niece & nephew, just not sure logistically how best to go about it

Just a cool thought too, watching a portfolio grow for 18 yrs through the eyes of a kid.

I have an IRA with them, along with a regular investing account

I opened an E*Trade account after the last INMG run in April, just so I could continue slapping the ask without affecting my average of .0019

Since then, I've been loading up with E*Trade. I much prefer the platform and this what I use to trade for the most part (although trading my IRA -tax free is the BEST - all profit, no tax! just need to wait 25 years)

E*Trade also has a promotion where they'll refund your trades for the first few months - up to like 100...maybe 500 trades....can't recall. As a trader you qualify for $4.95 commission, but everything is negotiable with them....if your balance is substantial enough - which is why I'm loading up at these subpenny levels - all 3 of my accounts move quite swiftly with INMG

The problem with Merrill Edge is that you can't have more than 75% of your account in OTC - so, I actually can't trade my one account online - I'm completely frozen out of it because INMG puts me over...I literally need to call in trades for all my positions. They told me the only thing I can do to change that is to sell....and that's when I opened my E*Trade
