A-Power Energy Co announces the signing of a 3-phase, 6-yr RMB1.87 bln (~$279 mln) engineering, procurement and construction contract with Baishan Long Run Water Conservancy
and in after hours the sp is over $8.... things are looking up, but still a long ways from when I got in.
nice, any idea of it's success?
of course, but I didn't have money riding on any of those other things.
How would CMSI lose money if/when CA legalizes marijuana?
sure, but which ones and when? That's called speculation b/c we really don't have any idea.
wait....
how would cmsi lose money if CA legalizes marijuana? Yet make money in other states if/when they legalize it? (which is total speculation since the issue is not on any other ballot, that I know of)
If legalized, marijuana would be a huge growth industry in CA resulting in many more dispensaries. And if CMSI provides the payment infrastructure for each new dispensary, they'd profit BIG.
A recommendation from barchart.com?
I'll cheer when Peter Lynch says BUY.
Right now I'd even take Jim Cramer.
I hope you're right and this thing takes off, but I'm not expecting $1 pps because barchart.com says to buy.
This PR should get us to $1 pps.... right?
woo hoo we're on the radio!!!
BOSTON, Sep 10, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) -- Converted Organics Inc. (COIN, Trade ) announced today that, as part of its comprehensive 2010 retail marketing strategy, the Company will be featured on The Paul Parent Garden Club talk radio program this Sunday, September 12, at 7:30 a.m. EDT.
Paul Parent, a leading regional gardening expert, provides horticulture advice to over one-half million listeners each week through his syndicated program, which airs on twenty-five radio stations in the Northeast and in select states outside the Northeast.
"Being featured on the Paul Parent Show gives Converted Organics Inc. an excellent opportunity this season to get our brand out in front of homeowners in the Northeast, many of whom will apply one more round of fertilizer this fall. We look forward to explaining the benefits of our organic fertilizer, the importance of applying fertilizer in the fall, and believe that this segment can help drive traffic to Home Depot and Whole Foods Markets locations that carry our products," said David A. Flannery, Vice President of Marketing for Converted Organics. "At the retail level, we have increased same-store sales by 100% thus far in 2010 compared to 2009. We believe that a concentrated effort to increase consumer awareness of Converted Organics' fertilizer products will drive continued sales growth for our products."
the optimist in me says "yeah, I'm excited for it"....
the cynic in me says "well, time doesn't move backwards, in fact it marches forward somewhat relentlessly, so of course the clock is ticking closer to a news release. It can't get further away"....
Who's bringing this much anticipated PR? Godot?
if you really think is a solid investment, think of this as a buying opportunity. The pps is down a bit but other indicators (buy recommendation) are positive. The market is fickle, just b/c there's a "buy" or "strong buy" doesn't mean the market is going to buy in waves.
what?
could you elaborate please.
of both? Remember we're theoretically in the middle of a spin-off IPO thingy.......
And, realizing a buy out is pure speculation, anyone have a valuation on SNRY? Using the 33 million outstanding shares for the sake of discussion. Is this company worth $33 million so we can all walk away at $1 pps. It's not that simple, I know. But....... I'd take $1 a share right now.
And who's looking for a solar play with a strong eye towards education and training?
There's been chatter this week about how rich we're all going to be ($100 + per share) and I'm looking forward to it. Should I find a crafty tax guy to hide all my capital gains this year or can I wait until 2011?
In other words, anyone expecting this pps to get out of the single cents anytime soon?
in the meantime COIN can't may get delisted, go under and this technology hits a snag that sets it back another 25 years.
Every country being agri-independent is so forward thinking that it's not even relevant to COIN and their ongoing struggles to be viable in 2011.
It's not like investing in QTMM is by invite only. Not really much of a secret if I found it. There are people in the financial world whose job it is to make sure there are no secret Microsofts out there. Meaning that truly game changing ideas don't stay secret for this long.
And while I hope the stock price goes like Microsoft, Google etc. I doubt those stocks ever had PPS below a dime.
Let's hope you're right, that this is just a secret stock, and it's just taking it's time to introduce itself to the world.
been here long enough to wonder if AFPW has what it takes to get out of the stock market gutter.
I'm hoping they do, really I am. I've got money riding on this like everyone else here. But I'm just not blindly optimistic anymore
if this was a serious company it wouldn't be trading at .0155.
seriously people, if this company had any legs for the near future it wouldn't be trading for literally a penny.
I'm hoping it hits big but it's all speculation at this point.
unless it goes to .0000 then even .0001 looks bad.
Ain't holding my breath on this one.
the number of SNRY shares you own will not change. You will be issued new shares of SPI at a ratio of 2 SNRY per 1 SPI. Meaning that if you owned 1000 share of SNRY on Sept 2009 you will receive an additional 500 shares SPI.
so on a day where the stock market as a whole went UP 250 points, why did QTMM move.... not at all?
Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to counting my cash with the rest of y'all but really? no movement in the pps? none?
don't you see other stocks as better opportunities?
I mean this stock seems to have nothing but trouble written all over it.
The sales are growing but they can't seem to generate any profit. Management decisions are all over the place.
I don't know about you, but I've got other stocks on my radar that appear to have better futures than this......
All right, I believe that.
Now how close are they to getting the needed number of votes to pass it.
but....
wouldn't a NO Go on the TerraSphere deal result in less dilution in the stock?
It almost seems that the benefit to the shareholders right now is to say no and force COIN to focus on their core products -- i.e. selling more fertilizer.
I just don't see how diluting the stock to pay for this deal is going to get the pps above $1 to avoid delisting. I'm not really sure how they would avoid it without the deal but....
Maybe a reverse split is inevitable.
I wonder how soon after Prop 19 passes (assuming it does) we'll start to see dispensaries pop up in the suburban strip malls. It'll be a growth industry for sure.
There are chemical based cannabis products I've read about recently. But, based on anecdotal evidence, chemical weed seems more dangerous -- more extreme reactions.
The local CA weed growers are against Prop 19...... once big agriculture gets involved there won't be much profit for the little guy.
Hopefully we can get our state and national parks back from the illegal weed farms as a result.
yet as of 8/31 they don't have enough votes for a quorum. Could it possible that this TerraSphere deal doesn't got through? and would that be a bad thing?
I'd actually be surprised if this doesn't pass (but I was surprised Prop 8 did pass two years ago, so what do I know?).
I think CA is ready and as the boomer generation dies off while more young people come of age to vote I think the tide as turned. I suppose it'll depend on the demographic(s) that turn out to vote.
Any idea what current polls show?
The VA has recently eased it's stance and policies regarding medical marijuana use.....
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/24/health/policy/24veterans.html
I hope you're right but I'm not holding my breath
ah..... but CMSI doesn't deal in weed. The weed growers, distributors, etc will be the glam stocks if Prop 19 passes. But the infrastructure stocks (i.e. secure point of purchase merchant solutions) may not get the spotlight like a grower or dispensary.
I think there's a chance CMSI gets passed over during the initial wave of excitement. BUT, if they truly become the market leader in secure transactions and end up as the point of purchase machinery in the majority of dispensaries, over the long run, it'll be the stock to own -- less competition, less susceptible to political winds, less dependent on agriculture issues (weather). Easier profits.....
Doe anyone expect this stock to jump big if CA legalizes pot in November?
I hope you're right. Jim Cramer (Mad Money) bashed it yesterday 8/26 and it dropped hard despite some positive earnings for the quarter.
but still no timeline on the SPI IPO?
Time is ticking on the de-listing notice and the pps gets further away from $1......
Anyone aware of a plan here?
why would you do that?
Personally, I've lost the faith. This is a POS stock and I'm just hoping to get out at even. They've been acquiring companies all year and nothing has translated to increasing anything (revenue, profit, eps).

Converted Organics Inc. (COIN, Trade ) announced today that PharmaSphere Systems, LLC has entered into a Term Sheet and Memorandum of Understanding with Innovative Solutions for Non-Profits, Inc. for the license of PharmaSphere's growing systems for a proposed medical marijuana facility in Providence, Rhode Island.
PharmaSphere Systems, LLC is a biotechnology company that expects to produce and market high-value, plant-based compounds to the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmeceutical markets through the use of TerraSphere Systems, LLC patented vertical farming technology. The growing systems offer a secure, accountable method for the cultivation of medical marijuana in a controlled, fully contained environment.
Rhode-Island based Innovative Solutions for Non-Profits, Inc., is an organization focused on providing technical and financial support to local non-profit businesses that has applied for a license to grow medical marijuana at a facility in Rhode Island. Innovative Solutions expects to receive its growing license from the state of Rhode Island in September, 2010.
14 states across the U.S. have already approved the use of medical marijuana, and several others are in the process of licensing "compassion centers" for the purpose of providing patients with access to this treatment. The State of Rhode Island alone estimates that it has issued over 1,500 medical marijuana use permits, with the number of permits expected to double in the next 18 months. The Rhode Island medical marijuana program includes 8 diseases and 5 qualifying conditions including: Alzheimer's, HIV/AIDS, Cancer, Crohn's, Epilepsy, Glaucoma, Hepatitis C, Multiple Sclerosis, or any debilitating, chronic condition that produces spasms, wasting, seizures or severe pain or nausea. Under the program, each patient is authorized to purchase up to 2.5 ounces of medical marijuana per month.
"PharmaSphere brings a great deal of control and security to the pharmaceutical industry and we look forward to doing the same in the medical marijuana space, providing licensees with the same accountability, containment, traceability, purity and pharmaceutical drug-level control standards that are required in the production of other medicines. Additionally, PharmaSphere's highly efficient growth systems provide accelerated growing cycles, while using best green practices to produce pesticide, and chemical-free crops, grown in facilities capable of factory scale farming," said David Darlington, CEO of PharmaSphere Systems, LLC. "Our fully-contained system meets all current state-level regulations for the growth of medical marijuana, and we believe it represents an ideal solution for state-licensed organizations to grow the product in a safe, secure, fully-controlled environment. We view this collaboration with Innovative Solutions for Non-Profits as an important first step toward increasing the availability of medical marijuana for patients suffering from serious diseases."
"We believe that licensing and implementing PharmaSphere's technology will prove to be beneficial for Innovative Solutions as we work toward the launch of our first facility. PharmaSphere's patented system and relationships with research scientists and institutions will allow us to offer clients a safe, high-quality product that will help improve quality of life for those who need it most," added William Walter, President and CEO of Innovative Solutions for Non-Profits, Inc.
COIN is not growing weed. Their technology will be used to grow weed. COIN is NOT in the weed business. They are in the business -- with TerraShpere technology -- of selling growing solutions.
The weed industry is a huge growth area in the US. Just selling the technology to weed growers should bring in some nice revenue.
And the hockey player should be a bridge to places like Haiti that need organic agriculture technology. This "hockey puck" has Haitian roots (may have been born there) and Haiti has madde a commitment to organic, non-GMO agriculture
Thanks
I'm not even in at your level but enough to make life much better if this thing hits like we all think it could. I'll be in more if I can get out of something else at the right amount.
I hope you are all correct and what everyone has said makes sense, it's just hard to believe that technology like this and a company so poised can be so overlooked......
Let's take a step back.
I don't know anything more than anyone else, nor have I claimed to. In fact, the reality is that I probably know a whole lot less than everyone on this board.
I merely said that this is not the only place I go to for my analysis.
And then I said I wasn't swayed to purchase by Dr. Glass's speaking engagements.
There's nothing covert about my thought process. In fact, it's rather pedestrian. In random order and incomplete.
I forget exactly where or how I found QTMM, but as I recall, the write-up caught my attention, was very positive and specific for the future of the company
I'm not risking a lot of money-- sort of like walking into Vegas with $100 to gamble. At .10 pps the downside won't ruin my retirement plans. The upside could change my life though.
For a few reasons, I believe in the future of renewable energy as an industry. In particular, solar should be a tremendous growth area globally.
The dots that QTMM are producing sound like they've got many applications beyond just solar energy (diversification of the product line is always a good thing)
The management team seems to be making solid decisions with the long term in mind.
etc and so on
I seem to have picked up a reputation here as having a short position on this stock. I don't. I'm in looooooong. I just hold a less optimistic opinion of the immediate future (2010) than most here. That' doesn't mean I'm not a fan or trying to drive the price down it just means I'm questioning some assertions made here.
OK... makes sense but I guess I still don't understand why QTMM is the best kept secret in the stock market.
at .10 a share and the potential to completely change the solar energy scene (plus many other industries) you'd think people would be throwing money at the company
I feel like I've stumbled onto a sunken treasure that no one even knew existed....
