Along those lines, it’s a close enough held company that they may be waiting for friends and family to be able to climb aboard before announcing big news. Just speculation on my part.
Sheesh! You guys are brutal!
Quite a few DC area folk here.
Indeed. I continue to be cautiously optimistic. Any company striving to produce hardware/software on this scale will face competitive and logistic challenges along the way. Where I work, we just got done launching a new pickup truck...only took 4 years from initial sketch to rolling off the assembly line...patience.
Yeah traffic is a nightmare down there near the beltway. Amazing that Haymarket and even Front Royal is considered just another DC suburb now. I’ve been in Detroit for 18 years working in the auto industry. Rest of the fam is down there in Vienna / Falls Church though. I Get back to see them every 4-6 months. I grew up in McLean. I’m only sitting on two million shares so if it hits a dollar I might be able to afford a small condo down there! Haha! Keep in touch!
Nice. Drove past those last time I was back there in December. We were antiquing with mom. Dad used to be a member of Evergreen CC out there too. I miss ole Virginny!
Haymarket is a nice place. We used to have a cabin up on Blue Mtn in Linden. Stopped at the Sheetz there many times!
We need to be patient. Maybe there’s “something in the corner” that will be pointed out to us in the coming days and weeks.
I can tell you why it dropped. Management felt pressure to give shareholders news after a month long hiatus, and the news they put out was not the news everyone was hoping for. Like Ralphie on Christmas morning looking for the Red Ryder BB gun.
His LinkedIn says he’s a sales engineer at Nutanex since Jan 2015.
Haha! I totally forgot I was posting a response when out of the blue I went all Jerry McGuire! You’re a good sounding board!
What if - Utopya/Andi management were caught a bit off guard and perhaps overwhelmed by all of the early exposure and publicity from this board and other outlets. Would it cause them to proceed a bit more cautiously knowing that the stock takes massive swings with one tweet from Darryl or on Email from Mike? Mikes response this morning on LinkedIn seems to hint that the lawyers are really advising that they keep a tight lid on things. This is wise as the last thing a new startup needs is some overly litigious yahoo creating expensive legal troubles due to some off-the-cuff statements coming from management.
It’s funny but the amount of stuff people read into a CEOs comments seems to be directly proportional to the amount of money they have invested (myself included - this post included).
One thing we don’t have to read into is the extremely bold statement from the company that they are on track to have phones to market q3/q4 this year! That’s one helluva gauntlet they’re throwing down for themselves. If I made that type of statement to shareholders - 110% of my time would involve moving Heaven and Earth to stand and deliver on that one promise. Frankly - it would be worth more than a thousand short term PR releases - especially because contracts would be implicit in such an endeavor and, if I were to fail, nobody would care what contracts I had previously announced anyway. The reputation of the management team and future of the company rests on this more than anything else. They said they’re still on track to hit this aggressive goal - that’s why I’m still here. It’s that simple. Time will tell!
All this IMHO of course.
It’s times like these... we can use a little inspiration from an old friend.
Nope. He just posted on LinkedIn that it was not him.
I have a buddy from India that told me they have more people than China, but they’re not counted in that country’s census due to the caste system. Actually quite terrible, but he estimates they have 1 billion people not on the books. If it’s anything close to that it’s mind blowing.
Where are my protein pills and my helmet?
Oh man! I’m up with a crying baby so I’m getting a little slap happy! And only one post after admonishing people to post with civility too....maxima mea culpa!
Haha! As long as you’ve done your dd on mom and you feel it side to sell...Personally, I’m long on...err nevermind
Yup. I saw that. Hard to put a numerical value on it at this point but It looks like he’s heavily engaged.
I’m not sure all the speculation about Darryl’s net worth is helping the board achieve nirvana. Seems a bit uncouth for serious DD seekers. I’d say discussion on how much he is personally invested in ANDI/UTOPYA is perfectly within bounds however. Just thought I’d make that distinction. I’m not a pro but I try to play one on this board!
Yes. Here is an old interview from his GNC days. He clearly understands the franchise model and sees enough potential and overlap in the Utopya model to put his name and money behind it. Doesn’t seem like the type to bet on a loosing horse.

ANDI must not meet the Queens standards.
Yup. Typically they say Tuesday and Wednesday mornings before the bell are the best time to release a good PR. Friday’s are only for bad news.
I wonder how many regulars on this board will still be here a year from now (myself included). Reality is probably not many (if any) but it is a special stock so who knows. I’d really like to hold long enough to at least take advantage of the lower capital gains tax rate. ANDI could make that fairly easy. At least 11 more months to go!
Maybe it was exciting and he’ll tell us why in the coming weeks. That could be a hint.
Hmm, I’d say just the opposite. They’re not the typical PR hypers. Someone putting out one or two press releases a week would have me more worried about a typical pump job IMO.
What you posted earlier about some traders never seeing 5000% during their careers reminded me of the famous Marshmallow Test.
Man....with this market...I feel like Noah having jumped into the ANDI Ark.
I know! I just now got the final patent paperwork for something I designed 4 years ago and is already going out of production!
As someone who holds a patent or two...I can tell you they take forever to show up in the filings (pace of government bureaucracy). Also, if Mikes email (posted here by someone a couple weeks ago) is correct, the patents would likely be on the software/user interface and less likely the hardware (as smartphones aren’t all that different in design). Also...at this stage of the game it’s better to have a patent pending than the actual patent itself. There are groups known as patent sharks who go cruising for good ideas in the patent records, and then take them before the inventor has a chance to get to market. The trick is that while you may technically be protected by the patent - chances are you won’t have the kinds of funds to go up against experienced patent sharks in court. They wind up getting you to settle out of court and running off with your idea.
Agree. ANDI has run hard on very little news. Way harder than GLNN@ which required 2 PRs a week to get to over 3.00 before imploding from PR fatigue after 3 months. For ANDI, the next news that announces a material advancement towards the stated objective of selling phones in 2018 will make .05 look like a bug on the windshield.
I’m guessing the rate hike was timed ahead of earnings season to “help the medicine go down”.
Agreed. This is exactly the gist of Malcom Gladwell’s book Tipping Point.
1.8M at .0053 and another 200,000 to round out my 2 mil at .0079
Yes. The Fed is exacting revenge for the release of the memo and for Trumps “unauthorized economic flourishing “.
“Congratulations sir - you’re the proud daddy of an obscenely overweight portfolio”
Thank you sir!
I’m already banned from IHUB for the next 24 hrs so if this thing goes to 1.50 tomorrow while my wife is in labor and I’m glued to my schwab app - instant divorce....so I will be letting it ride.
Wow. It’s just like the battle of Waterloo on here....and we all know what happened to the short guy in that one.
Just saw it today. Not going to be making any phone calls on a Sunday night. Thought someone may have seen the same thing and pondered.
I think the things Mike posts on LinkedIn give some insight into the connections and interests of the CEO. That is all. Just speculation.
