Still not up as of 7:30 eastern.
I still have hope that our provider will have us up tonight, this was serious and I'm amazed that we could be pulled down. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and am looking forward to getting back to normal....and some sleep.
The SSRatio has now turned down 0.27 to 1.90 favoring buying, market risk remains low. However, with momentum falling, caution is advised.
The potential turnaround stocks that screened out for Friday includes: AAII, BRO, JCOM, NXTL, PRX and SYK. Note that I am currently holding a large position in AAII and a very small one in NXTL.
The potential breakout stocks were mostly retail; CBK, CLE, GYMB, HOTT, PSUN, STJ and WHI.

The SSRatio declined slightly Wednesday, but not enough to graphically appear as a downturn. Dropping only 0.02 to +2.17 favoring buying, the estimate of market risk remains low. If the SSRatio doesn't keep us from buying, the lack of stocks to pick from just might.
Only JCOM screened out of the turnaround scan and PRGS out of the breakout.

Only two breakouts alerted today, FTN and MOVI, and that was it for the day. I had other business to tend to today so I didn't trade or even watch long.
Sam
oops I must be losing it, I had though I posted on my thread. Sorry, you're correct though, earnings are released tomorrow before the open ...
I had read your post about DVA, one I had been following.
Keep after it.

Sam
We had no turnaround stocks to watch today, but there were several breakouts that did; CHRW, CLE, EAGL, HAR, HSP, IDCC and SRNA.
Sam
There were lots of stocks alerting today, of the turnaround trades, AVY, CRL, PPL and WEBX all look good.
Of the breakouts, CPWM, DRL, ERTS, FIC, GYI, NYB, OVTI, SRCL and WFR alerted. Several of these closed below their alert price, which is a little worrisome.

The SSRatio made a jump of 0.33 to +1.83 favoring buying, the estimate of market risk remains low. Various indicators are hitting levels that are seen at market tops, making all the fear and discussion about these indicators one of the more bullish things the market has going for it. The SSRatio is also at the upper end, though I wouldn't be surprised to see it pop over 2 this week. Since the SSRatio moves relatively smoothly, I'd wait for it to show a top before becoming cautious, and for it to go negative before being bearish.
I've put both the turnaround stocks and the breakout stocks in a table, like the short term trades are when those are screening out on a regular basis. This will hopefully make it easier to pick from the list between all the alerts, and give guidance for setting stops and potential target sales. Since breakouts can climb without established resistance I'd recommend a trailing stop, keeping in mind that well over 80% of all breakouts fall back to support within a few days.

I've updated the using Savvy Trader page which can be viewed at: http://www.savvy-trader.com/usingsavvytrader.htm
I've removed references to our weekly journal. Most of the information (like group strength), we still keep, and use occasional items in our daily commentary as they fit. But we were so over worked adding the weekly journal to our daily work, and we couldn't hire assistance without raising our prices, we chose to drop the weekly journal.
We have considered raising our prices but decided to keep the $17.50/month, which is still the best value of all the newsletter and stock information services.

Both of the turnaround stocks alerted today, AHS and CTSH.
In the breakouts, almost all alerted, AZO and NBIX were easy to buy as they moved up steady giving plenty of time to trade, on the other hand, BSTE alerted at the open with a 6 point gap. I alerted a bounce below 49, but really, it was one of those would look good on a list of picks as if one already owned it, put in reality it would have not brought more profit than many of the others when using a gap play.
The other breakouts that alerted included, DG, LGND, NWK, SRCL and WFMI.
Sam
I thought I'd post what we'll be watching Friday. Two potential turnaround stocks screened out; AHS and CTSH. And a relatively large group of potential breakouts to watch; AZO, BSTE, CMCSK, DG, GLG, LGND, NBIX, NWK, PGR, SRCL and WFMI.
How we set alerts:
1) Alert potential turnaround stocks by setting the alert price 11 cents above the previous day's high.
2) Alert the potential breakouts by setting the alert price 20 cents above the previous day's high.
Sam
I wasn't able to watch today but it looks like it was a mild day. Neither potential turnaround stocks alerted. ABGX, CNCT, CVC and UPL alerted a breakout.
Sam
Alerting today; ATN, EASI and USON of the turnaround group. AZO, CECO, CVC and ERF of the breakout group. These days that open down tend to be the best to trade cause you get fewer gap up alerts and the alerts, if and when they come, are much more stable.
Sam
Some good alerts today, BLUD and NBTY alerted the turnaround and ADI, ALN, DGIN, KNGT, KRON, MCCC, MVL, PHM and PKI alerted a breakout.
Sam
On a personal note...... guess we're not too old to re-learn a lesson. Over the last few days I held a position in LPNT, I neglected to sell it going into earnings that came out after the close Monday, against what I've preached the last few years about holding over earnings. Being away from my computer I did have a stop set, which took me out at the open today, but it opened below my stop, taking me out with a loss of $1.79. Once again, pay attention to the earnings date and exit a position before they are released! You can always buy it back.
Sam
Alerts today included AFCI, ERTS and MYL of the turnaround stocks and ALKS, DG, NXTL and SCRI of the breakouts. It was a surprisingly nice day for the whole market.
Sam
Our watchlist today, many have alerted.
Despite the weakness on Friday, there are still plenty to watch today, six potential turnaround stocks screened out; AFCI, CAH, EAT, ERTS, JCOM and MYL. And eight potential breakouts; ALKS, CELG, DG, ERF, MCCC, MOVI, NXTL and SCRI. MYL actually screened out on the short term stock screen, the first stock we've seen in that scan for several weeks. The calculated stop is $25.87 and the target is $29.89.
How we set alerts:
1) Alert potential turnaround stocks by setting the alert price 11 cents above the previous day's high.
2) Alert the potential breakouts by setting the alert price 20 cents above the previous day's high.
The market internals weakened on Friday, but the up trending and down trending stocks with volume were remarkably close to even. Those going down just edged out those going up enough to bring the SSRatio down 0.12 to +1.20 favoring buying, the estimate of market risk remains low. To look like a graphic top the ratio needs to fall below 1.15.
Sam
Only one stock alert today, LPNT.
Have a nice weekend....
Sam
DGX and PPP were the only alerts off the list today.
The market internals were much stronger than one would have thought on Thursday, with more up trending stocks than down trending stocks moving on volume. Thus, the SSRatio rose 0.17 to +1.32 favoring buying, the estimate of market risk remains low.
The screening after Thursday did produce a good group of stocks to watch Friday. Eight potential turnaround stocks made the cut; APPB, BLUD, CAH, EASI, EAT, JCOM, KSS and LPNT. And nine potential breakouts screened out; ALKS, APPX, CELG, EBAY, HLTH, MCCC, MOVI, NXTL and SUN. Remember that the breakouts are at a resistance point so it is important to let it break before considering.
Sam
Today was easy, Thursday looks much tougher cause the list is so thin. I posted part of the commentary on the site at http://www.savvy-trader.com

Still, not the same.
Why was us supporting the Shah of Iran not the same as us promoting a democratic government in Iraq? How can you ask that?
Not the same, sorry.
As if Saddam wasn't involved in terrorism. It isn't going to be in Iraq, relax. Those people should be free to express themselves, and after all they haven't said anything as bad about America and President Bush as you have.
Yes, I saw about 10, not 1.5 million. I saw the whiners in San Francisco too, so? Does this mean you don't think they have the right to democracy? You think you are so much better?
So now you can't complain about all the soldiers and civilians you thought would be killed you are going to whine about Islamic fundamentalists? You'll always have something to complain about....
Democracy isn't going to be built in a day, like I said about other issues, you question way too early.
If you were constipated would you convince yourself you'd never be able to go to the bathroom again?

Today's first alert was ERES, note that it has earnings after the close today. WLP alerted and it also has earnings after the close. AGP might go today, needs a little push though.
