Just checked it out. He has got to mean First Solar. Maybe ENER? Definitely not LDK.
Probably First Solar? Definitely not LDK. LDK IMO is the #1 solar investment, followed by Trina then Jinko then JA Solar.
LDK will soon have the lowest cost. Only major solar truly vertically integrated from Poly -> Wafer -> Cell -> Module -> Utility.
And in the last week, they have entered 2 new businesses with CapEx less than 100 mil.
LDk has turned into a solar monster.

NEWS: LDK Solar Expands into Sapphire Wafer Business
Press Release Source: LDK Solar Co., Ltd. On Friday April 8, 2011, 3:15 am EDT
XINYU CITY, China and SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 8, 2011
/PRNewswire/ -- LDK Solar Co., Ltd. "We believe this new investment in manufacturing sapphire wafers has a great synergy with LDK Solar's crystallization and wafer engineering and manufacturing expertise, and will enhance LDK Solar's product offerings.
"We also would like to express our sincere appreciation to Nanchang City and Jiangxi Province for the support they have shown us during the planning and construction of our wafer and module plants over the past two years."
Doesn't matter. Bryant already made his money. And so did Jerry Williams off everyone that followed him and got in late.
Damage was already done, and they are sitting back laughing at all the people they took money from who once defended them tooth and nail.
SPI Just Became One of The Biggest Solar Companies Worldwide.
04 April 2011, 17:42 BST
LDK Solar Co., Ltd. ("LDK Solar") (NYSE: LDK), a leading manufacturer of multicrystalline solar wafers and PV products Just Bought 70% in on Solar Power, Inc. (“SPI”) (OTCBB:SOPW). They announced this last week and I really wanted to put my head around this merger before I reported.
For starters, LDK Solar (the Chinese manufacturer of solar wafers that go into our PV panels!!!!!) acquired 70% interest in SPI for approximately $33 million.
This is a big deal for solar COSTS though. Let me explain. SOPI is a pretty interesting company themselves. They engineer, design, build and finance successful solar energy projects nationwide.
For starters: Staples Center and Nokia Center..OK California!!!
Uh huh. OK, so now they are getting bought up mostly by one of if not the largest solar company making the panels and cells that companies put frames around and call their own!! Huge!!
So look now the biggest solar contractor and the largest solar company get together. Like Will Ferrel said: Shake and Bake!
You can drop that price of solar in a New York minute now. No complications. You can now even bid out what company gets the wafers to put into the panels that collect our solar energy.
SPI’s growing development portfolio and pipeline, in turn, should provide LDK Solar with enhanced downstream benefit to its vertical integration model through module supply for large-scale projects.
“We are very pleased to have this transaction concluded,” said Xiaofeng Peng, Chairman and CEO for LDK Solar. “SPI provides a strong strategic complement to our downstream vertical integration opportunities and provides LDK Solar and SPI the opportunity to jointly explore opening manufacturing operations in the U.S. to further enhance SPI’s competitive advantage in North America.”
“We are happy to be part of the growing LDK global team,” said Steve Kircher CEO for SPI. “The strength of our newly combined vertical platform should provide us significant competitive advantages going forward,” Mr. Kircher concluded.
So how much is the cost dropping..I don't know but as soon as I find out, I'll let you know!
http://uk.ibtimes.com/articles/20110404/spi-just-became-one-biggest-solar-companies-worldwide.htm
Why dont they just ask you to mail them in a check for $1,000? Isn't that easier than all the crap they put people through? How much money did Monk's followers lose on this?
If they would have just focused all their efforts on selling t-shirts than all this stock swapping, blaming SEC jumbo-mumbo, they could have sold $300 worth of t-shirts per annum!
That would be $300 in revenue, minus rental expense, salary of employees, miscellaneous costs - net loss of what, $500k per annum?

King is buying more. He is loading up. This is ready to go! He is going to retire, this is a no-brainer investment!
Funny how he kept telling us he bought millions of shares at 10 time the price it is at right now, and although the price NEVER went above what he bought it at and kept crashing, he tells us he made money!!!! lol
That is the one that took me to the cleaners!
Well said and pretty amazing. WAKE UP PEOPLE! How can somone fail at EVERY business, bankrupt them, and yet, move out of slummy Birmingham, England and move to Barbados, and give money to charity!
WAKE UP!
Pretty much old news. Just states they finally paid the rest for it.
I am not and was not overly crazy about this news, BUT it does give LDK another prescence in the United States. And with the USA way behind in solar, would be nice for them to be better established when we begin to boom. Could work out very well down the road.
Wow, reveune all the way down to $517k and that is with the contract with department of defense. This company is beyond FAIL.
Easy answer. IHUB is a sweatshop for scammers and penny pushers trying to create demand and push a stock up a few cents with immature postings such as "get it while this is dirt cheap" - "Just loaded up, this is going to sky rocket" - "ask is thin, this is going to explode" etc....
Although you will find some very quality message board posters that are informative and provide stimulating due dillegence, most of the people here are kids with a $500 ameritrade account that think if they post 1000 times, some noob sheep will buy there shares at a higher price so they can make their 20 bucks a day.
And lets face it, pinks/bulletin board junk does move fast, one way or the other, in comparison to actual quality, non-junk stocks like LDK.
How do they recover that money? Do they do a reverse transaction on their account somehow? Or does paypal take the hit and give it to you?
Yes, they have provided this after every quarter for at least the last eight. These are VERY imformative. and well done.
As far as debt, they explained what they are doing in there end of year conference call.
They said they are expecting about 1 billion in profit for year 2011 (ONE FRICKEN BILLION!). They are expecting to use 500 million for CapEx, and the rest used towards debt.
They will spin off their poly near the end of 2011. The paramaters of this have not been set in stone, but they did state 2 things, they will raise about 800 million in cash from this AND they are expecting to tie a large amount of debt away from LDK Solar and wrap it into the new launch/IPO of LDK Poly.
So as far as the debt of LDK solar goes, they will be very close to debt free by end of 2011. Absolutely incredible!
We will most likely lose less than 50% of the poly plants though (im guessing we lose about 35-45% ownership, as Peng/LDK will still want majority stake).
Couple things:
- First Quarter 2011 reporting is coming up very soon. Remember, corporations get an extra month and a half to submit their year end statements. I believe LDK took an extra month, so Q1 will be in 2 months from now. We will get results sooner than expected.
- Quarter one will come in around a buck a share again. I am expecting LDK to make a little more, but the weighted average share count it will filter into will be larger, therefore cancelling out the extra EPS.
- Next quarter will be replacing 1st quarter 2010, which was only .06 so the PE ratio will again dramatically lower, making LDK appear much, much more attractive to investors who do not follow individual stocks, but instead screen them using software and filters. When screening for Growth Companies with low PE's, LDK will hit every value investor or growth investors criteria.
Lets say they hit a buck next quarter on the dot. We will have ...
Q2 2010 = .36
Q3 2010 = .72
Q4 2010 = 1.09
Q1 2010 = 1.00
EPS = 3.17
At a PE ratio of 10, that is $31.0 a share. And a company growing as fast as LDK deserves a PE ratio higher than 10!
FSLR, and american solar, has a PE ratio of 20. First solar, although growing fast, is not even growing as fast as LDK. If LDK were to command a PE of First Solar (which it should, and IMO eventually will) LDK would be trading at $63.14 a share
Just something to think about. Can't wait for next quarters earnings!
good question. Anyone here been? I bet it is either a closet office, or home address. Possibly even a PO box.
VERY good point :)
I bet it was retail traders who don't watch this and are stuck, then all the sudden they see it go from .02 to .20 or .10 and think it spiked, and immediately did a market sell.
.10 is a half a cent a share pre split!
Ya know, i always wonder if these scammers have family's. You would think that at some point, they scammed a guy out of his last desperate dime, he had nothing left to live for, and hunted the scammer down and slaughtered he and his family. Wouldn't that always be in the back of your mind if you were a scammer?
True story.....
Ticker symbol EIGH, when it first ran as 8000, inc. It was a valid company that was privately owned by a guy named Conrad Wall out of the UK. Well, Conrad met Jonathan Bryant, a pinksheet shell owner and scammer, and Bryant talked Conrad into taking this public and making more money selling stock than what he made getting these races together - and a lot less work!
So Conrad agreed, and we had a new ticker EIGH. Well, Conrad and EIGH collected upfront payments for their next big yearly race. It was something like 10 grand a participant for a 3/4 day event, driving across Europe and i believe 4 countries. The event was almost full, about a month from the launch day and no one was receiveing literature or phone calls. Calls made to 8000 inc went unanswered. People ended up going to the business and it was this tiny, vacant office. No one was there. The person in the office next to them said it had been vacant for months. They were duped.
Now, these participants are/were very wealthy people. The cost to do this is quite a bit, and the cars that they took were to die for. Im talking $100k+ sports cars - think of the movie Cannonball Run with Burt Reynolds - same concept.
Well, one of these individuals was the son of the King of Scotland or some Northern European country, and word on the street was HE WAS PI$$ED!
I always wondered if i would ever see the obituary of old Conrad - duping all these powerful, wealthy people out of their cash (or the guy pulling the strings behind everything, Jonathan Bryant). Well, nothing did every happen. But how can these con-men not have fear in the back of their minds?
By the way, Conrad fled to Southeast Asia for some time, i believe Thailand, until the smoke cleared.
usually when you see transactions like that, its the actaul scammers trading back and forth to each other from their accounts, trying to create volume, move it and stir up demand.
Not always, but most of the time. Especially when it is at the ask and upticks on under $100 transaction.
So paypal indeed will go after these scams on their own dime, and even if they do not get your payment back, paypal will pay you back out of their pocket?
Here is the deal LR......
EIGH has been PROVEN to lie to investors multiple times in the past. And these were HUGE lies. And i have an email trail a mile long from JB from his previous scams of lies, lies, lies, lies.
Now, would you rather listen and beleive a PROVEN LIAR, or would you rather listen to someone that has not been proven either way?
Easy choice. What's your answer.
I just cannot figure it out to be honest. I mean.....
- Solar is the fastest growing sector out of all industries
- LDK is IMO the #1 solar investment in the fastest growing sector (also like trina, jinko, jaso and yingli)
- EVEN IF, for some odd reason the sun died tommorrow, or a new technology came out of nowhere to replace solar (lets just say solar died, WHICH IT ISNT!) LDK STILL is the 5th largest producer of fricken polysilicon, and without producing an ounce of solar, will still make $4.00+ a share on poly going forward selling it on the open market!
Now, someone PLEASE tell me why this is NOT trading at over $50 a share right now, let alone $25 a share (and were at 12 a share with forward PE of 3!)
I just continue to lightly add to my holdings as much as i possibly can by turning in pop cans every week ;)

Take your anger out on the crew running this gig, not me.
Getting out at 1.20 PRE-SPLIT was one of the best investment decisions of my career!
This is nearing junk status.
Crazy thing is, its the entire sector minus the 2 american companies (FSLR ENER).
They are trading at such ridiculously low prices compared to their earnings. Again, their PE ratio says it all.
The skeptics are paid to keep this as low as possible. They will keep solar as low as possible by saying literally the dumbest things in the world.
For example, LDK's sales to italy are less than 5%. And sales in the United States and China are soaring. EVEN if the small amount of sales in Italy were to go from 5% to 3 or 2%, it would be easily offset and then some by the soaring demand in other nations.
Yet, LDK goes down on these remarks by 20%.
They are trading at a forward PE of 3. 3!!!!!!! They are growing by over 20% quarter over quarter, and over 300% year over year.
While the analysts attack, they are loading up. They will then change their tune, and upgrade and say positive things about solar. They will already be loaded up. Then this thing will rocket.
Its a shame how crooked Wall Street is. A dirty rotten shame. LDK is one of the best companies out there to invest in, and should be trading at $50 bucks right now, let alone $20. And here we sit in the 12's. Its really incredible.
Anyway, my best advice is to focus on the company and not the unethical sentiment. The price WILL follow. Im sure of it.
Nike had worse earnings, and are barely growing, and here we have one of the top 3 solars (IMO, the top, but that is debatable) in the fastest growing industy, breaking revenue and income records every quarter, trading at 1/8th the price of the slow growing dinosaur stock.
Like i said, incredible. Hang in there, and you will be greatly rewarded.
Like i said, don't take your anger out on me. YOUR the one who is bagholding. You should be thanking me for the attempts from 3 cents down to, what, sub-sub-sub penny of me urging all to get out of this scam.
I guess i don't mind when scammers make thousands from ungrateful, noob investors like you. Go buy some more now. Go ahead and average down :)
S&P MAINTAINS STRONG BUY RECOMMENDATION OF LDK SOLAR
(Standard & Poor's)
Q4 earnings per ADS of $1.09, vs. $0.12 loss, beats our $0.97 estimate. Sales rose 36% from Q3, above our view, on higher than expected wafer and module shipments. Margins widened, aided by internal polysilicon manufacturing. We think supply for LDK's wafers remains tight and anticipate further benefits from vertical integration. Also, we see debt reduction efforts, sale of large scale projects, and potential spin-off of polysilicon business as catalysts. We raise our '11 earnings per ADS estimate $0.31 to $3.06. We keep our 12-month target price at $19, on P/E near peers.
Some notes from conference call:
- Polysilicon production raised sharply from 1,243mt to 1,925mt quarter over quarter. However, sales of it dropped from 29 million to 12.5 million. What this means is that LDK is now using much, much more of their in-house poly, at cheap $39 cost to produce their wafers. They no longer have to go out on spot market and buy at higher prices. This is greatly reflected in the sharply increased margins.
- Expansion of gross margins due to raising ASP's and lower costs expected next quarter (very, very good news!)
- up to 22,400 employees now (impressive!)
- They aquired a company names S.p.A. for 33 million - i have no clue yet who they are, what they do, and what geographical region they are in. Ill look this up today sometime.
- The third (and last) polysilicon train is expected to commence operation on 2nd quarter 2011.
- 2,300 to 2,400 metric tons of polysilicon expected to be produced Quarter 1 2011 (up from 1,925)
- They expect polysilicon capacity to reach 25,000 metric tons by end of 2011 (this is huge, huge, huge!)
- To date, a total of 64 patent application has been submitted and 15 of them have been granted patent rights
- Slight polysilicon shortage seen globally short term because many poly makers in japan have not produced
- Solar demand in Europe is strong right now, China demand increasing.
- LDK is targeting using 50% of produced poly internally, and selling the other 50% on spot market (spot market has increased 3 quarters in a row, very good thing for LDK) In 4th quarter, LDK used about 70%, sold 30%.
- LDk beleives it will reduce costs at a greater percentage than price erosion in the market (lower ASP's), and that is why you see margins increasing next quarter
Im not the one who bought their product and is invested in this scam. Who can't 'think'?
LDK Crushes Estimates, comes in at $1.09 per share!
More than Nike, trading at $85 a share, reported!
I'll have more later! EXCITING TIMES!!!!
