Really good stuff! Thanks for sharing....
Radio Shack is a good place.
I like your style........
John Murphy believes that we at least get a 38% retracement, which just happens to be at wave four. He has been saying this since the end of last year. I just haven't been listening until THIS WEEK! Thanks for Mr. Dent's comment. I have no bias one way or the other, but my eyes are wide open.
John Murphy says not: (I know you are not an Elliott Wave fan)
HOW FAR DOWN? ... After this week's breakdown, there can be little doubt that the cyclical bull market that started in October 2002 has ended. The question now is how far down can the market drop. The daily bars show the S&P 500 SPDR breaking its January low and closing beneath its 200-day moving average. Downside volume was very heavy. There's a support level at 108.60 at its late October low. But I think the S&P (and the other major stock averages) are headed all the way back to its August low. That's based partially on standard chart analysis, and partially on Elliott Wave Theory..... the August low took place in five waves. The breaking of the bottom of wave 4 (the January low) confirmed that the rally ended.
Augieboo built a new house and started doing wood working. Just has never come back. Too busy with other things, I guess.
I liked his work too. I was able to learn a lot from him as he learned from others. He is missed.

So very well said
Halo2 for PC's too? Thought only for XBOX.
better watched....from a distance....if at all.

An interesting article about the problems that Intel seems to be having.
One of many:
"Discovering well after the product had launched that ambitious plans for stepping up the frequency of the Pentium 4 to as high as 5GHz simply wasn't going to work -- leaving the company without a competitive answer to AMD. "

For me and my house, I would always build my own computer. First, I just really enjoy the building process. When comparing prices, make sure you compare parts with parts. For example, the video card. HP may not have the good card that you are showing for $150 and the 200 MB hard drive. I have always found that I can get pretty close to the price of say a Dell. I can beat them if I already have the software from a replacement computer system.
Bruce talked me into building my first AMD computer. I did only build Intels. I have not been disappointed. I would look at his listed Terminator computers. A lot of bang for the buck in either the Terminator I or II.

Another way is to use Ace Utilities. You can set it up where it will not erase cookies like "Investorshub" and "Stockcharts" even when you run the Wizard.

I think you found the perfect solution for my headset. I just hope I can do both cards. Thanks for posting!

I have the same problem. I get great sound from the Zalman headset, but hate to have the keep unplugging the speakers to get all three jacks in the sound card which is what you have to do to get the great sound from the Zalman. I found a switch for about $10 (if you search) that will switch one set of stereo output between the headset and speakers. With the Zalman you would need three. Honestly, I was about to order three when I ran into JimLur's response to you. I am waiting for his answer to my question. Then I would have a decision to make.

Great idea. Can you use this for the headset and have another sound card in the PC for speakers? I could turn the speakers down and then have the headset only.
TIA
Bruce
FWIW, I too have installed SP2. My watercooled AMD game machine and one P4 at the office.
No problems so far. Have been running for 3 weeks now as a test.
Still simple..........and a good idea!
Thanks
Bruce
I have never heard or read anything about doing that!! Didn't know it would work. I always read that programs had to be reinstalled on the new computer's registry then data moved in. Does the slave drive then use the old registry to run the programs? TIA
You're welcome.
Switch and hub are in the same family. Data hits the hub and runs around until it gets to the correct port. Switch is smarter and directs traffic quickly to the correct address.
Router can have a switch built in, but doesn't always. Router and switch are different. Router is used to control access to the internet through high speed internet connection where many computers can share the connection. Routers also usually have a hardware firewall built in.
Yes. This one sort of grows on you. Was nice to have him around.

Good searching and finding job!!!! Thanks for sharing!

I had no idea! Thanks for that info. I'm sure that won't last long!
Thanks for all of your help
Bruce
Ran the test. I think all is OK. I have the latest BIOS.
As they stated in the test readme file:
"In nearly all cases, incorrect SMBIOS data won't cause
significant problems with normal operation, which is why
SMBIOS problems are so common. Many vendors don't seem to
have SMBIOS verification on their list of quality control
items so the data is never checked. Bad SMBIOS information
may cause incorrect reports in utilities like PC Pitstop
or SiSoft Sandra that try to read this data. In rare cases
the data will be so badly corrupted that it causes some
utilities to crash."
The test does not "see" the memory in dimm1. It says "not installed". I think the problem is as stated above.
Thank you!
Bruce
I posted my PitStop test again with the new video card. I don't understand the memory problem with the test. My BIOS is showing 1024 not 512.
You have created an AMD fan. Love the machine!

I did not overclock the CPU
Thanks!
Really has been fun. Never thought I would mix water and electronics!
It has been a very fun box. With the help from Bruce, had to add case fans (didn't come with any) to keep the hard drives cool. I think they meant to have you water cool everything including the hard drives. All I am cooling is the CPU.

Yes I did some posts back for Bruce. I now (finally) got my ATI x800xt video card. Far Cry looks great! I will clean up the hard drive and run a PitStop again. Will post soon.
Best regards

This is the water cooled system that I built. So far so good.

amen! <eom>
You have a third choice and you may already know this one is just to add the drive for more space making it say drive D: .
Using Raid you would have to use striping to get more disk space but it comes with problems of it's own. You would have to reinstall your OS and all programs AND if one drive dies ALL data is lost.
Bruce
Me too!! Thanks for you help.....again!

I added two low noise fans to the rear of the Koolance case. I hooked them to the power supply fan control. They are so quiet, you have to look at them to know they are running. Everything cooled down to just warm! After looking closer at the top three Koolance fans and their design, they are just for the radiator and nothing else. Two blow in and one blows out with a clear plastic chamber under the radiator. I had thought all three pull air out. Koolance probably sells the case for water cooling everything including the hard drives. That would be too many water connections for me. I still look for leaks many times a day! <ng>
Bruce
Good advice and I agree. Those 10,000 RPM Raid drives put out lots of heat.
Bruce
I have found the Koolance temperature "problem". Let me set the record straight. After reading (imagine that) the last pages of the Koolance manual, I type below the answer to our question. At this time I have faith in their study....and it makes sense.
"One common mistake people use in determining their CPU temperature is by using BIOS values. Never rely on BIOS temperatures to display true heat values for a Koolance system. The typical location for the BIOS CPU thermal diode is within the CPU socket-- however, this component rarely makes sufficient contact with the processor (if at all); it essentially monitors an ambient pocket of trapped air beneath the chip. Since there is no moving air in this socket with a liquid cooler, values can be significantly higher than the actual temperature.
In our tests, BIOS CPU temperatures in a Koolance system average 13-20 C higher after a 1.5 hour operation period, than a more accurate CPU temperature measurement. This can also be demonstrated by adding an 80mm fan to the rear vent of the case. BIOS CPU temperatures will often decline (appearing as if the processor is cooler), when in fact the actual processor temperature is virtually the same."
From Koolance User Manual
Bruce, they go on with test descriptions. I learned something tonight. Wouldn't have without your probing questions. Thanks again for you input.
Bruce
Best I could do is run the three top radiator fans at full speed. That would bring the water temp down closer to room temp (best possible).
Will get back to you on the open case MB temp. Good idea.
Thanks
Bruce
Interesting temps I found from Asus PC Probe:
CPU Temperature: 48 C
MB Temperature: 45 C
I wonder where the MB "probe" is?
Also, in that Koolance article, I believe the 40 C they are talking about is the watercooler block probe temperature. Mine is at 35 C. They had theirs set so the fans would not accelerate until 45 C which never happened because 40 was as high as their Koolance got. I have mine set at a different mode. When mine tries to go to 36, the fans speed up bring the temp back to 35. I may try to contact them to see if they can give me a BIOS temp reading from theirs.
