Isn't it $5M? In any case, even $10M is not excessive, imo.
Lumpy is fine as long as the lumps are big.
Cha-ching.
Have a fine weekend, friends! Here's to a better week starting Monday. <clink>
Good post. Stickied.
Considering the listless share price action, can we call this a Technicolor yawn?
$150 M.
Anticlimactic reopen?
Agreed.
Agreed.
Looks like great news!
You make it sound like it's not fair.
Good one. Good weekend, all longs!
Very nice partial recovery today, folks!
I thought the dog went to live on a farm where he could chase squirrels...
Healthy recovery beginning (I hope).
They should announce a special dividend in light of all this.
I was incorrect, but I'm still baffled at the S/P in light of the fundamentals. I am happy that top management is being replaced, as should you be, I think.
Ya gotta think someone is FEASTING on these shares...
The share price DOES lie, and often.
Look at the fundamentals.
Added as sticky!
As I said, this might be the best news of the year (so far).
No: "Have not changed $500-600M recurring revenue goal despite accounting changes."
Exactly what I predicted to my wife earlier this week. Great earnings report and we plummet.
I also predict that we'll recover.
Best news so far! New team coming in!
It's been on for a couple of minutes.
Exactly, machines run the show on days like this.
I stand by my call that we end up green today. eom
Not the time to sell now. Recovery as the day progresses, imo.
InterDigital Emphasizes Collaboration on 5G at Mobile World Congress
Demos feature technologies and solutions designed for open testbeds, research initiatives; Underscoring a close network of more than 100 collaborators in 5G research
Company Release - 2/22/2018 8:30 AM ET
BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS 2018 – More than any other generation of wireless, 5G is seeing research and input from a vast array of companies, universities and research institutions. At Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona (February 26 – March 1, 2018), wireless research and development company InterDigital (NASDAQ:IDCC) is placing the emphasis on collaboration, with demo technologies and solutions that are designed from the start to form the basis for open research collaboration. Under the banner of “Creating the Living Network.™ Together.” InterDigital is highlighting technologies and research that underpin its network of more than 100 research collaborators across more than a dozen projects worldwide.
“Obviously, there are some giant companies that are doing very interesting things in advancing 5G, but, more than any other generation of wireless, 5G provides an opportunity for smaller companies, research institutions and universities to make their mark, given the immensity and broad scope of the challenges and use cases,” said Dr. Robert DiFazio, Vice President, InterDigital Labs. “InterDigital understands the vital importance of collaboration through various projects like Horizon 2020 in Europe, PAWR in the U.S., and other important projects. We also understand that, to be a valued contributor, our technologies and solutions have to minimize proprietary approaches and instead provide as open and flexible a platform as possible.”
The company’s presence at MWC 2018 showcases how the next generation of wireless will be brought to life through an expansive 5G research community:
5G Testbeds: Industry testbeds are validating 5G technology and demonstrating interoperability among an ecosystem of research collaborators. InterDigital will showcase two platforms, EdgeLink™ 60Hz Platform and Flexible IP-based Services Platform (FLIPS), that have been used in global field trials in conjunction with projects that include 5G-Crosshaul, 5TONIC, Bristol is Open, FLAME, PAWR, and 5G-Transformer, among others.
5G Air Interface: The millimeter wave (mmWave) air interface is one of the key new technologies being introduced into 3GPP’s 5G NR standard. The company will show its contribution to the Open Air Interface Alliance, fundamental concepts enabling mmWave 5G integration with the existing LTE standard in non-standalone mode.
5G Video Experience: As an active contributor to the next generation video standard development, InterDigital will demonstrate an end-to-end 360 video live streaming platform with AR capabilities built on a series of state-of-the-art video standards.
5G Networks: The major trend in 5G networks is that of combining connectivity, computing and storage resources into a rich fabric of networked elements, implementing network-based as well as terminal-based software functions. The company will showcase how its FLIPS platform, utilized in numerous EU projects including RIFE, POINT and FLAME, takes advantage of this trend by providing a software-based solution on top of proliferating 5G technologies.
In addition to demonstrations, InterDigital will host “Delivering the 5G Experience with Mobile Edge Services” and “Research Directions for 5G and Beyond Testbeds,” two live panel discussions featuring participants from Intel, Nokia, Martel, and University Carlos III of Madrid, among others, on Wednesday, February 28 at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. CET, respectively.
Attendees of Mobile World Congress can see the panel discussions along with 5G and IoT demos at InterDigital’s pavilion in Hall 7, Stand 7C61.

Ecosystem collaborators showcase a holistic approach to deliver the smart future
Company Release - 2/22/2018 8:32 AM ET
BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- IoT and smart technologies will be pivotal to the future success of Smart Cities, but only if players collaborate to embrace a holistic approach. InterDigital’s (NASDAQ:IDCC) Smart-Cities focused business, Chordant™, will showcase how to maximize Smart City deployment potential through several key use cases at Mobile World Congress, the industry's premier conference, from February 26 - March 1, 2018, in Barcelona.
“The important role of Smart Cities in our future cannot be understated,” said Jim Nolan, Executive Vice President, Chordant, at InterDigital. “Our MWC 2018 demos with our industry-leading collaborators show the value that can be unlocked when the ecosystems work together in harmony utilizing a standards-based approach across different devices, networks and applications.”
The demonstrations will be powered by the Chordant platform, a solution based on the oneM2MTM standard, which has already won two Smart City recognitions this year. It is with great honor that this year’s demonstrations will feature efforts with numerous ecosystem players including Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., machineQTM, a Comcast Service, and TIM:
Smart City Data Marketplace: Chordant will showcase its oneTRANSPORTTM data marketplace service which enables real-time Smart City data to be aggregated and shared by multiple organizations, enabling new services that improve traffic congestion and air pollution.
Multi-Connectivity and Edge Processing: Chordant will demonstrate an airport use case where multi-connectivity and edge processing capabilities from Qualcomm Technologies enable both machine vision and low-latency critical decision making.
SCEF Interface to Core Networks: Chordant will showcase the importance of interfacing enterprises with operator core networks through SCEF. The use cases will include preservation of device battery life.
Monitoring over LWPA Networks: Chordant will demonstrate monitoring over different IoT networks. Use cases will utilize networks from TIM and machineQTM, a Comcast Service.

Haven't we been paid well over a billion dollars in the last few years?
Granted, it could be even more, but you can't say we don't get paid.
Based on past history, when do we get a signal as to earnings? It always seems that there's a head fake a day or so before.
Always some shenanigans before earnings.
Jim; didn't you once object to posting ClayTrader's charts? (Maybe it was someone else...)
$35!
Another good day. Congrats, longs!
I think that the point is if there are pre-planned buys, it would not provide a clue as to what lies in store, imminently.
Thanks.
But that's for officers and employees, not for the company in a buyback, correct?
IDCCfan: I presume that you, like me, were alerted to LWLG on the IDCC board. (Having a good day in that stock today, BTW.)
