Nice to have you along, great buy.
Going to be a money maker, just a question of your own personal trading target, of course.
Best of luck.
I figured that the biggest mistake someone can make in trading is lack of patience
Easy come, easy go...It's only money...Money can't buy you happiness...
And all those other stupid clichés that no one really believes.
Oh yeah! I know that this is dangerous to say, but I'm 100% confident about this one.
ORCL: You're probably right, will be ready to buy in morning.
Watching ORCL very closely. Same thing as WAC: solid company, money maker, misses EPS by .01 and gets hammered!
Couldn't resist, bought some more NBG at .93
Expecting $1 soon.
Watching ORCL closely. Same thing as WAC: solid company, making money, misses EPS estimate by .01 and gets hammered!
HEK: You know the more I look at this one, the more I like it. I'm in at $4.06, I just might add anyway even if it finishes even or slightly above.
What's your thoughts on it for a multi-day hold? TIA.
Little tip: call them and tell them that you want to speak to a supervisor. Tell him/her that you love the card, plan on using it as your only card, but if they charge an annual fee you're going to drop it.
They'll cancel the fee.
HEK: Will probably average down a bit at the end of the day if necessary. I like this one enough to hold it awhile.
I always read the offers, then throw away almost all of them.
For this one I actually called American Express, said "Am I missing something here? Too good to be true." The rep just laughed, said it was true, wanted to get my business.
Call them and see if they still have the same deal.
True story: last year got an offer from American Express (a card I don't use.) If I get their new card--no fee for the first year--and charge $500, they would give me a $500 Home Depot gift card. The idea being that I'd keep the card, keep using it, pay the annual fee.
Charged $500 in a few weeks, cut up the card, a few weeks later I get the $500 gift card from Home Depot.
My wife calls them and gets the same offer. My sons call them and get the same offer. Just incredible.
Most folks do carry a balance and do pay the absurd financing charges and that's how Visa or Mastercard can carry people like me.
D. beat me to it. I try to pay everything, and I mean everything, with my cards. Earn points and cash. Pay everything at the end of the month. They lose money with people like me.
I'm the biggest saver/cheapskate/penny pincher you'd ever meet. I'm all about saving.
I just don't put the saved funds in a bank savings account. IMO that's actually like losing money, it's not conservative.
But everyone has to live by their own lights, their own comfort level.
Basically zero in the bank, haven't had a savings account in decades, just a very small amount each month in a checking account. I electronically transfer funds back and forth from my Ameritrade account when needed, occasionally my bank equity line.
Savings accounts simply let the bank leverage your money, instead of yourself.
It was a desperate, very stupid idea that didn't succeed, and you are 100% correct: it will never be trusted again.
That's all they accomplished.
HL: Out 8K shares @ $4.12 from $3.99 this morning. +$1K. Will re-enter if it drops anywhere near $4 again.
Bought some HEK earlier at $4.06, going to hold until tomorrow.
It's 5 o'clock somewhere in the world, time for a Bass Ale.
(Edit: had my HEK price wrong!)
"I went into a bank in Cyprus to ask about a loan.
They asked me if they could pay it back in installments once a month."
Joke heard from a Greek friend.
HEK: Yep, they're the kind of thing I look for, basically solid companies that are temporarily a bit undervalued.
LOL. I think of myself as unconventional, but my wife just says weird.
Actually, just bought HEK at $4.06.
I'd forgotten about them, very solid company in shale oil exploration, thanks for the idea!
Well OK then, I knew there was some explanation.
Great trade, you've got a lot of nerve!
I know HEK, it's a good company. Any reason why you think it's going to drop that far today? TIA.
Hecla Mining (NYSE:HL): Starting to scale in here $3.98'ish. This is a good, solid company that's trying to buy another smaller mining company--AZK. The board says OK, but some shareholders want more money. Should be settled soon, a good value here.
HXM: At least part of the problem is that Mexico is just as fraudulent as China when it comes to accurate financial reporting.
Regulators are starting to take a close look at HXM's books, and what they find might not be pretty.
Any thoughts on HL? Looking at it closely here.
Agreed. I don't think it was so much a "hard" downgrade on any fundamentals, just that it might take awhile for the gaming thing to really kick in.
Looking at CLF again, then looking in the mirror and repeating, "Must not buy...must not buy..."
ZNGA: I'm looking at it closely and very tempted. Merrill moving it to Neutral doesn't worry you?
If I did that my wife would just put me to work!
Me too, just ran some quick programs on my computer but no help, it's iHub.
Great buy.
Great buy.
WAC: Out 2K shares @ $34.80 from $32.80 yesterday. IMO, this one was a no-brainer.
100% correct, being greedy.
I like the hard drops when fundamentally they're totally unjustified, like WAC. Almost guaranteed to come back. A lot of the bios, like AFFY, deserve to die, too risky for me.
Ooops, should have waited a bit!
