Have we seriously resorted to discussions about the sticky notes! Who the french cares!
Just post a link to the neom PR page and the the Neustar pilot page (since that's our only postives right now anyway) to satisfy these people, and keep what's already there since it is very relevant news about what's going on.
Can we move on to trying to figure out where the heck this company is going!?
Seriously, their lack of news or direction is what's scaring investors away....not the sticky notes on this forum.
But to my question, can a clearinghouse populate a different barcode each time a user uses a secure* method (voice recognition or pin based), which will link the merchant transaction system to a credit card processing system? yes or no?
*keep in mind I'm not a tech person like you, and not everyone views the term secure the same a tech person. The financial industry will ALWAYS be behind the fraudsters...it's a matter if the consumer see's it as more secure than swiping a card.
As for the app your college kid can develop...won't that only work if they hack into Neustar, VISA or your phone specifically to implant the 'false app'?
I too can not access that, but a google search yielded the link below:
Question (forgive my non-technical verbiage):
Could a clearing house, with the security of either a personal pin being typed into a users phone, or better yet - voice recogntion - trigger the clearinghouse to return a new barcode everytime on the users phone...and still link it to VISA and the merchant?
Wouldn't this make photocopies useless?

1- you would think NEOM would do alot of things, HA
2- my apologies, Neustar and VISA are partners, going through NEOM IP....Neustar and VISA call the shots. NEOM....well, I guess has minimal input I suppose.
We'll just repost it.
Neomedia connection: VISA is mentioned to go into existance, VISA is partnered with NEOM and Neustar. Mobile payments is also mentioned.

AT&T Inc., Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile USA are exploring a joint venture to test out a mobile-payment service in select markets, according to people familiar with the situation.
The U.S. carriers are working with Discover Financial Services and Barclays PLC on a trial, the people said, which would involve allowing customers to pay for goods and services by holding their smartphones at cash registers or taxis. Bloomberg News earlier reported on the proposed venture.
The unlikely alliance of rival wireless carriers underscores the difficulties of setting up a mobile payment system, which has been stalled by the need for broad cooperation from carriers, handset makers, banks and credit-card companies, each with competing agendas.
The carriers, in particular, have pushed to maintain a larger role to avoid being relegated to a simple pipe connecting the consumer's cellphone.
A partnership with Discover, a second-tier player, suggests that the carriers are lining up against the more widely accepted companies, including Visa Inc. and MasterCard Inc., which have their own plans for mobile payments.
"Discover is always evaluating technology solutions that make things faster, safer, and more convenient for cardmembers, merchants, acquirers and issuers," according to a company spokeswoman.
The venture would focus on using a technology called near-field communication, also known as contactless payment. NFC chips are already found in credit cards, which are activated when a customer waves them in front of a sensor found near certain point-of-sale terminals, such as drugstore cash registers.
The technology isn't new, but handset makers are reluctant to install it into phones because there has been little progress in the area. Consulting firm Philliou Selwanes Partners LLC said there are 500,000 contactless readers in more than 140,000 locations in the U.S.
One telecom executive, however, warned the venture was still early in the process, and UBS analyst Jason Kupferberg said he would surprised if the it gained any popularity in the near term.
Still, some believe the venture represents a significant step in the right direction for mobile payments.
"We have seen numerous disparate efforts in contactless payments," said Philip J. Philliou, a partner at Philliou Selwanes. "This is most the meaningful initiative in the contactless payments space."
Verizon Wireless already has dabbled in mobile payments. In March, it signed a deal with South Korean mobile-payment provider Danal Co. to allow its customers to make online purchases on their handsets, which would be paid through their cellphone bills.
Visa is already working with NFC technology, including partnering with privately held DeviceFidelity Inc. to integrate NFC chips into memory cards, which would be distributed to Visa customers. MasterCard has partnered with a number of mobile carriers and handset makers to test out NFC.
American Express Co. recently hired Sprint Nextel Corp.'s prepaid chief, Dan Schulman, to expand its mobile payment options.

Anyone else been looking at an ask of $1.01 for about the past 3 hours?
Kind of makes that Neustar, VISA, neomedia agreement sound like something is actually at stake now...and sitting around isn't going to cut it anymore b/c VISA's competition is moving forward.
Can someone recap page 20, my company firewall won't let me open any of the links that have been provided...TIA if possible, and thanks for the links as well.
good, and lucky, for you.
I personally refuse to invest more until there is solid news, with clear information as to the direction we're going.
I am optimistic we'll get there at some point, I hope this 'transaction' is the first step in that direction. Until then I remain heavy into the negative, looking to at least break even eventually.
agreed, it looks much more professional and actaully relays some relevant info. Now it's just a matter of them keeping up with it.
on a side note (not sure if it's my comp, connection or what), but is anyone else hitting a few dead links and having the formatting load properly?
It's a pilot expiring dec 31, they are in the data gathering stage now to forecast 2011. I took it as good bc it's still on the radar to pursue.
Do we know which player is behind it?

Since you guys are more willing to buy can you do us all a favor and bid about 75% above the ask?
good, the only benefit gomo brought was serving as a platform for us to corner IM and get a response regarding the Jan mess.
How many 'leads' were actually discovered by posters here first?
Hopefully, a more established and better context publication is on the horizon. Time will tell I suppose.
I don't believe stock options for IM is the proof needed, options are pretty routine for execs to make company success more valuable to the ship's captain. But if it goes nowhere the captain has still made enough to live comfortably. It's just an added bonus, nothing to guarantee this is where he makes his money.
The proof we need is whatever this transaction is.
IMO, this transaction will be capital infusion from a different VC...except this time it will be a VC with some sort of Neustar affiliation...b/c, again my opinion, Neustar's clearinghouse goes nowhere without NEOM IP...so Neustar has an interest to help NEOM keep it's doors open.
sticky note quality IMO, a nice reminder that there is a silver lining to this black rain cloud.
Thanks JP
Starbucks to expand mobile payment efforts

Neoreader suggested in April 14, do we know who Starbucks teamed up with?
We can ask at the conference call........whah whah
It would be much more encouraging if our BOD would purchase shares and get in our boat instead of getting options...they still collect hefty paychecks in lieu of cashing in stocks.
even better, I just hope if anything develops it will be worth while and not another freebie campaign.
On another note, I guess we should also keep our eyes Neustar license's for the upcoming shopping season. What day does the pilot program end?
I don't expect an update or PR until around the time this 'transaction' takes place. If it's something that will pay down debt and sustain 12 months of operation like they claim then I'd rather them take the time to execute it properly....so I'm OK with the silence if this statement is true.
After that (assuming it's good of course) I predict PR's to roll in directly tied to Neom...which keep in mind, 3 months after this 'transaction' is the holiday shopping time - busiest of the year. For a retail shopping company to best prepare for the upcoming season there will have to be some marketing agreements made within those 3 months so it executes properly just in time for Black Friday. Retail shopping has taken a beating over the past couple of years and it could very well continue this year...companies need alternatives to get customers in so the season can once again 'save' them as it use to years prior.
It should be interesting to see what develops within this industry and the retail shopping industry through the middle of November.
All my opion of course
This board is turning into a soap opera.
Either cut your losses and leave or stay annd hope for the best like everyone else.
Special thanks to the posters which actually contribute with relevant information to the industry as a whole.
I for one remain optimistic about the future of neom.
I would be confident in saying it has something to do with the litigation. The case is open and therefore restricts the plantiff from engaging in conversation about this matter with the public...aka...the Neomedia board which heavily discusses the lawsuit.
That I'm not sure of, I was hoping someone else could shed some light on it....
Scanbuy Launches Commercial 2D Barcode Service in Spain in Partnership with Top Three Mobile Operators
July 15, 2010 4:01 AM EDT
“BIDI” application from Scanbuy being pre-loaded into new phones from Movistar, Vodafone and Orange, making Spain one of the most developed 2D barcodes markets in the world
(PRWEB) July 15, 2010 -- Scanbuy, Inc., the global leader in mobile barcode solutions, announced that it has launched commercial operations in Spain, bringing a complete mobile barcode service to marketers and media publishers in that country. The service, locally known as BIDI, has been launched in partnership with all three leading operators, Movistar, Vodafone, and Orange. The operators are already pre-loading the mobile application into millions of new phones making it the most widely deployed 2D barcode application in the world outside of Japan.
Two-dimensional (2D) barcodes are used by a business or enterprise to immediately connect their audience to digital content using the camera phone. This information could include product offers, interactive video, contact information and much more. The codes can be placed on virtually any media like magazines, billboards, television, packaging, or the internet.
In 2009, Scanbuy partnered with Movistar, Vodafone and Orange to develop an interoperable service so any supported device could scan a 2D code generated from the platform. Now, the service has been commercially launched to the public and a number of top marketers are already using BIDI. Scanbuy has also launched sales operations in Madrid to develop sales and marketing efforts. More than twenty sales partners will also offer the BIDI service to different industry sectors.
“The current conditions in Spain are right for the proliferation of BIDI codes. Over 25% of mobile users already have flat rate data, the use of camera phones is widespread, and the application is already available across different phone types” said Agustin Calvo, Scanbuy’s Country Manager in Spain. “We have worked with numerous partners who are already using BIDIs in their campaigns and we are trying to push the Spanish market in order to ensure that the BIDI application is available for the majority of mobile phone users.”
The BIDI app, known as ScanLife in other regions like North America, is now compatible with more than 340 handset models from leading mobile phones manufacturers. It is being pre-loaded on many of these, giving the user immediate access to the technology. By the end of 2010, it is expected that over 10 million devices will have the BIDI app installed across the different operators.
Business users can create, manage, and track their 2D codes using the BIDI Code Management Platform (www.bidi.es). The integrated system provides valuable performance data that includes number of scans, unique users, location, handset type and more. This gives publishers critical information on how users are interacting with their traditional media.

Why are we finding out what NEOM is doing through TMCnet? I understand NEOM already PR'd the BEMS partnership...but why not PR something like this which states neoreader is being preinstalled and everything is being routed through the NEOM infrastructure...
Any logical reason to this?? Did I miss something prior to this?
The Borrower has represented to the Lender that it requires additional financing in order to pursue one or more transactions within the next ninety (90) days and that the expected proceeds from the consummation of such transaction(s) will be sufficient to repay the New Loan (as defined herein) and to fund the Borrower’s ongoing business operations for twelve (12) months.
Aug 25 is exactly 90 days out from this statement, so I guess in 43 days they are required to tell us what's going on.
http://yahoo.brand.edgar-online.com/displayfilinginfo.aspx?FilingID=7296429-241692-305761&type=sect&dcn=0001144204-10-031699
random but maybe relevant question....
Does anyone with a higher level account able to determine which broker is buying? I'm wondering if with about 30days until the 'transaction' if any BOD's are in the process of buying shares themselves. If so (long shot), when would we typically see the filing once the share transactions are completed?
Who was it that use to do polls on this board to see how many shares are held by us posters? Perhaps we can do that again, instead this time poll everyone's thoughts about where we're heading?
Yes I know everyone voices their thoughts through numerous psosts but seeing hard data and limiting specific responses will give a better picture. Just a thought...need to do something to pass the silent time.
Then we might as well close the board as Neom is trying to be the next Apple by being secretive about their plans....only problem is Apple delievers on their secrets.
So, in the mean time the only news about the market is non-Neom related. All of these articles and PR's from competitors are helping the market grow, which if Neom decides to ever play ball seriously, should inevitably benefit Neom.
Public Transit System in Chile Provides Riders with Immediate Access to Bus Location Information Using Scanbuy’s 2D Barcode System
July 8, 2010 4:00 AM EDT
Mobile barcode technology provides valuable information to commuters from thousands of bus stops around Santiago
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 8, 2010 -- Scanbuy, Inc., the global leader in mobile barcode solutions, announced today that the public transit system in Santiago, Chile has deployed a system which gives riders immediate access to bus location information. Over 4,000 bus stops around the capitol city have been activated with the technology allowing a rider to scan a 2D (two-dimensional) barcode with their camera phone to display the exact location of that specific bus.
Transantiago, the public transit system, is using existing GPS devices located on most of the buses in the system to provide riders with information in real-time. Each bus stop has a 2D barcode which links to a mobile-formatted URL showing the expected arrival time of each bus.
Users can simply scan the codes to launch information in a matter of seconds without needing to navigate down to the correct route or stop. The feature saves critical time for commuters, and gives them access to constantly updated information.
“This is a fantastic application for 2D barcode technology and shows how versatile it can be for so many industries,” said Jonathan Bulkeley, Chief Executive Officer of Scanbuy. “In one click, a commuter can see where their exact bus is located to help make an informed decision on whether they should find an alternate route. This is all about saving time and making life easier.”
The ScanLife mobile application is locally called Codigo and is compatible with a wide variety of platforms from iPhone to BlackBerry to Symbian. It reads all commonly used code formats like QR, Datamatrix, EZcode, and UPC. It can be downloaded for free from www.getscanlife.com on the mobile browser.

An Approaching Tipping Point in Mobile Boarding Passes
http://paymentsviews.com/2010/07/06/an-approaching-tipping-point-in-mobile-boarding-passes/
by Scott Loftesness on July 6, 2010
in Mobile Banking & Payments, Mobile Technology
I’m in Europe this week teaching, along with my partner Carol Coye Benson, a private payments workshop. This is the first time we’ve done this in Europe – and we’re looking forward to it!
Flying over on United Airlines, I couldn’t help but notice the new optical bar code scanners that have been installed at the TSA screening checkpoints at SFO and at the United gates. My printed out boarding pass had a 2D bar code on it – but that wasn’t read in either case. Those devices are apparently primarily intended for use with mobile boarding passes – 2D bar code images displayed from your mobile phone.
I used one of these new mobile boarding passes for the first time on a recent flight on American Airlines. When I checked in online for the flight home, I noticed a mobile boarding pass option – selected it, received an email with an attached image file that I then displayed to a reader at the boarding gate. Why am I mentioning all of this – and what’s it got to do with payments? (I’m actually just trying to stay awake on my first afternoon in Europe – just kidding!)
It’s always fascinated me how the serious adoption of new technology in a seemingly unrelated vertical soon enough bleeds over into another vertical – particularly as equipment is involved. As deployments occur, new things are learned, enhancements and refinements are made and things just generally improve. That ball is now seriously rolling with respect to mobile boarding passes.
Clearly, we’re on the cusp of a serious migration to mobile boarding passes in the US. Travelers will soon be very comfortable displaying their boarding pass to a scanner at the gate – and avoiding the hassles of printing and carrying paper. When will this new way of communicating data simply from the mobile handset jump the rails into new verticals? Are you betting, along with Starbucks and mFoundry – and others, that it’s coming? Seems that the airlines have placed they’re bets!

well, I'm out of here for the week. Sad we haven't heard anything from IM, but exciting that the market in general is producing in the wake of NEOM's shortfalls.
Hopefully IM doesn't think he's entitled to take this holiday weekend off, so perhaps I'll return to good news.
Take care everyone and have a safe July 4.

How Barcodes and Smartphones Will Rearchitect Information

Mobile Charity Moves The Masses; Conference Roundup & Barcode Cancer Campaign Update
June 28, 2010
http://www.msearchgroove.com/2010/06/28/mobile-charity-moves-masses-conference-roundup-cancer-campaign-update/
MOBILE RAISES CANCER AWARENESS
While AIME obviously boosts awareness – particularly in the U.K. — of the new role of mobile companies in mobile charity, The Mobile Movement - a mobile ecosystem initiative providing non-profit organizations with a mobile platform and applications to extend their reach- continues to chalk up impressive progress. (press release and post)
Interestingly, campaigns that harness 2D barcodes to get out the message and inspire people to action are proving to be hugely effective. Even more so if they are linked to live events.
This is the key learning from last week’s One Million Voices Against Prostrate Cancer, a campaign that successfully extended the reach of Ed Randall’s Bat for the Cure, a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness about prostrate cancer, to mobile in a big way.
The outdoor, in-stadium campaign was supported by a partnership of mobile companies. NeoMedia, a mobile barcode technology developer, created the campaign’s mobile barcode, and Neustar, a company known for innovative solutions and directory services, supplied the mobile barcode management, thus serving as a clearing house for mobile communications and IP that securely processed all of the campaign’s mobile barcode transactions. Renu Mobile, a company MSG profiled here, supplied short code call-to-action and website build.
BARCODE OUTDOOR CALL TO ACTION
In a nutshell, the campaign – which launched at minor league baseball parks across the U.S. — allowed people (baseball fans and so a predominantly male audience in the first place) to download an app by scanning the barcode below.
The app allowed users to interact with the non-profit in a variety of ways. They could view video content, navigate to the donations area and make a donation, and follow the cause via a live Twitter feed from @batforthecure. More importantly, the app let users add their names, addresses and emails to a petition demanding sweeping policy changes and governmental action in the U.S. to promote prostrate cancer awareness, detection, treatment and ongoing research. This last campaign also lays the foundation for a larger push in September 2011, when the non-profit will focus its efforts on promoting an awareness month. (By way of background, prostrate cancer strikes 1 out of 6 men in the U.S. Early detection can extend the lives of millions of men.)
According to Carol Glennon, Renu Mobile CEO, the next step is to deliver more applications that can be triggered by scanning the 2D barcode, including a look-up for clinics where the PSA blood tests can be taken, and “many other innovations that break down the barriers so that after a man is educated, he or his friends and family can easily act.”
I caught up with Carol today on Skype to chat about the future for this and similar mobile barcode campaigns to raise awareness of charity causes. Her takeaway: harnessing no-brainer barcode technology brings down the barrier to participation significantly.
But it may be the context that really clinches it. “People at these events don’t have laptops; they have their mobile phones. They are outside and open to using some of their free minutes to interact with a campaign that speaks to their interests.”
