Hey Dave,
I read this on your link you provided,,,///// Don't give me crap that this or that price increase (e.g., gasoline) is due to shortages/demand. Look at ALL prices. Buy today on EGOV,
That didn't take long.
Hi Tom,
Thanks, it feels good to jump back in the game, I'm looking for another holding too. At least when they opened the gate my horse took off runing this time, Ken
Sell today on EGOV,
Bingo!
Hi AH,
Ok I will, let's play the Ocala East Course.
OT/Hi AH,
Yes, first vacationed there Spring break of 1987, loved it,,,,,,, My parents bought a place in 1992,, and have been year round in Ocala since 1994. WOW has it grown since then,,,, maybe 125,000 or so in Marion County then, now probably 500,000 or so in Marion County. I hardly recognize it from 20 yrs ago, I'll be there full time myself someday, I'll host a AIM conference too,, we'll tee off promptly at 8am,,,,
Hi Jcee,
Lots of great folks here on the AIM board. Believe me they all will do their best help you and make you think. Especially think about making a nice return with lower risk. I own the Newport, PCA, and AI programs. All three are very good products. There are freebies to use as well as you've got notice already. Toofuzzy's advice is good too, learn it by hand as well. Lot's of tweaks here to make AIM even better,,, I for one would be a tweaker. Glad you found the system and best wishes always.
Hi AH,
I'll be headed down to Ocala soon for the holidays. 78 and sunny there I saw at 4pm today.
Hi IS,
$8 a gallon, Merry Christmas my friend! $2.77 here,,, I traded my Chrysler for a Honda just for that reason.
What Gains?
I've only been back for a week and my gains get wiped out in one day. Sooooooooo close to a sell too!
Hi Tom,
Thank you!
Hi MM,
Congrats on the sell. Thanks for the post on the Florida melt down. Is this country a mess or what? Just jumped back in myself this week, darn close to a sell too ,, but I'd like to add so I'll hold off, Ken
Hi Tom,
//// If the stock has a P/E ratio of 1.0x then the 50% max would be okay before using "vealies."
If the stock has a P/E ratio of 2.0x then add 16% more to the 50 or 66% max before using "vealies."
If the stock has a P/E ratio of 3.0x then add 32% more to the 50 or 82% max cash before using "vealies." ///// Don't forget to backtest all that and make it fit the data!!!! LOL!!!! Grin!!!! Ken
Hi Grabber,
Yep, I'm down $182 and some change already. Things are just booming with my new system here. Wake me up when something happens, Ken.
Hi Tom,
Get us on Fast Money. The AIM panel on Fast Money! Now there's an idea! Ken
Today,
I jumped back in the game! The market is now free to crash at epic proportions.
Hi IS,
Just wanted to say thanks again for including WNC in your example of HD-AIM. Bottom line with any trading system or variation of any trading system is never running out of cash. Once cash is all gone, the boat is out to sea and dead in the water. I brought up all 17yrs of WNC on this board cause WNC is one large tough bear to get your arms around. You did that with 14/86,, 10/10,, quaterly review,, and showed a 13.75% APR with 65% avg invested. That's impressive and very well thought out. I'll be starting my own system tomorrow, but probably not with WNC, at least not for awhile. I'm going to pick another sub $10 stock, profitable, but growing. I better find one soon its Sunday and funds are cleared for trading tomorrow.
Hi TF,
Maybe I shouldn't step in front of the train just yet?
http://trailer-bodybuilders.com/trailer-output/trailer_orders_october_decrease_07/
Thanks Clive,
WOW 13.75%! That's making the data fit! Thanks for your thoughts, Ken
Hi TF,
/// My head hurts now
Toofuzzy/// I'm laughing so hard I'm crying! That's how I feel too sometimes! Excellent points on WNC, they are in a very tough enviorment right now with no guarantees. I drove to Battle Creek, Michigan yesterday and bought a Honda. I94 was just loaded with WNC's Duraplate trailers. Everything, and I do mean everything in your house was brought to your hometown on a semi trailer,,,, its how we live and distribute everything we need in America,, and they do wear out eventually,, that's why my interest has peaked here,,, along with I'm being a homey as i do live live here,,Ken
Hi Aimster, Data fitting,,
//Note that a weekly update cycle provided this best return - again somewhat data fitting to the result but for illustrating the point, not altogether un-useful./// Thanks for data fitting. That's exactly what I wanted you to do! Come up with the best plan to fit an AIMing system to this data. Will WNC come back, I think so, Duraplate is best product period,,, replacement timeline seems to run 12 to 18 yrs or so,, WNC sold boatloads 1995 to 2001,, shippers/ truckers are upgrading tractors now for more fuel efficiency, listening to the call suggests latter 2008 for the next big upswing to replace the boxes. WNC is so beaten down it looks attractive,,, but TOOFY has got me thinking about ETFC too. Thanks for your thoughts, Ken
Thanks Clive,
for all your work and thoughts on WNC. Nearly 8% on a stock down nearly 40% from its 17yr old start, 65% avg investment is pretty darn good. Especially given the fact it has recovered fron repeated buys in the $30's and $20's and now sits just under $7. Tweak your cash start a little higher to run out of cash at the $3 low and this might push towards 10%. Nice graph!! Very nice!! I like it!!! Thanks, Ken
Hi TF,
///Anyway to be somewhat fair look at a starting and ending point at the same price and see how AIM would do.//// AIM runs out of cash. IS and AIMster have hit on the best solutions here. WNC has a very volitale past, 25/75, 20/80, 10/90, using weekly or monthly or even quarterly like IS works much better. It has to be recognized at these levels near full investment is called for,,,,,,,,, when it reaches the $teens I'd need to be +50% cash,,over $20 needs to push 70 to 90% in cash,,
Hi AH,
/// I have found it helpful to avoid stocks with large short interests, shorts frequently have good reasons for what they are doing. It also could have to do with some hedging strategy////// Your point is well taken. Are the shorts going to keep raming it down? The company looks like it authorized a $50mil buyback,, they took some back over $14 awhile back, but most left to play out. Dropping a big chunk of that at these prices could be painful for a short. Looks to be near the bottom of a new say $6.80ish to $7.20ish channel. I'd like to jump in and play it, but I do want in near the bottom,, much different balance sheet then when it was $3-ish several yrs ago.
Hi MM,
Please resend that,,,,,,, I'm @verizon.net,, not verizon.com,, thanks, Ken
Hi Aimster,
Please take the time with all the data. Opening price for WNC on yahoo data is $10.27 on 11/8/91. Use all 17 years in the report and test. This is a classic cyclical, with even a deep diver mode down to 3's about 6 yrs ago or so. Lichello's Aim eats up a 10 to 4 to 10 to 4 to 10 cycle. this is even more volitale,,,,,,,,, so I scratch my head when I see AIM return only 2 to 3% APR after 17 yrs,,,,,I've pushed it to 6% or so, but with only huge swing trades, sometimes years between them in the 17yrs, and always running out of cash. ??????? So I've come up with a way,, I think ,,,,,to capture this, squeeze out the cash,, as WNC changes directions. Its a crap shoot,, but WNC is profitable, has downsized, and sold lots of semi trailers between 1995-2001,, that will need replaced soon. Duraplate is the best product out there. 2 or 3 %???? Hmmmmmmmmm let's see our emergency cash is at 5th 3rd Bank, 7 month CD paying 5%,, there's got to be a way to turn this data around? Thanks for all your thoughts,,
Hi Toof,
I've not studied LD-AIM that much. I need to plug in some of WNC's numbers and see what I get. I love this company, it was my first AIM stock over 10 yrs ago. But 50/50 AIM or anything close to that just runs short on cash all the time with WNC. So I'm doing something different and see how it goes. I see the grabber wrote LD-AIM. Ken
Hi Tom,
Well my check arrived 2 days ago but funds not yet cleared for trading at Etrade. I'm going to take a position in WNC and see if I can't suck the cash out of all the moves. I'm going to use my own ideas here, so I'm interested to see how well I can do. WNC been out there nearly 20 yrs now. From the teens to $47 to 3 bucks, back to $29 and now a slow march down to $6.96 over less than 2yrs. I can't find any AIM parameters that work with WNC, so I'm doing something different. Looks to maybe be forming a base in this $7 area finally. Good time for me to take a position I think. WNC very cyclical, and very beat up right now. Its a local company here and they make a great and very necessary product. Take a look at this chart, maybe basing has begun? Also how bad is WNC ranked by Value Line? Ken http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=WNC&t=6m&l=on&z=m&q=l&c=
Hi Hook,
Looks like that football team over there is 12-0!! I hope they get to crash the BCS bowl party like Boise State did last year. About to start my 21st year of investing come January of 08. I've been in and out out of lots of things since then and I've been 100% cash for several months now. That will change this week as I start my own little twist on a AIM like program. My goal is to drain the excess cash out and build from there. I read Lichello's AIM method while on vacation in Ann Arbor, Michigan late summer of 1997 if I remember correctly. While not a perfect system, its one of the more sane things I've ever read about the stock market. I read this board daily, post now and then, and enjoy the wit and humor on here too. Lot's of smart people here on the AIM board. Best of luck always, Ken
Hi Toofuzzy,
Is it time to buy ETFC? I don't know. I do know that I just mailed them a nice check this holiday weekend. I'm going to start trading a local company using my own system. It's kinda AIM like, but its goal is to suck the cash out of the movements. I like cash! My favorite network says retail stock brokers are all but dead now. I hope they don't close the doors and mail my check back. Looks like I still get the Brownco $5 trade deal thru 08 if I saw that right. Happy Holidays folks. I should be up and running the day my funds clear so look for an epic crash soon! Especially since I'm trading my own system.
The Pack,
The Packers won the Super Bowl last time when my son was exactly the same age I was the first time they won. Had my G hat on today and got numerous comments from the shoppers today. If it wasn't for about 10 penalties in the 2nd half agaist the Bears, we'd be 11-0!! Still drove the field and almost tied it anyway, til that pick at the end. 4 game lead on Det-riot with 5 to play,, looks like home field advg. thru playoffs at stake with Dallas. I lost my Carrol Dale autographed pic 01/26/1970 when our house burned down. Starr to Dale!! Touchdown Packers!! Nothing for Sayers to do but cry! Go Pack Go!! JMHO
OT/ Money Market Woes,
I sure hope this doen't spread like wildfire! I called my MM fund today to ask if they had any exposure to sub prime at all. They said nope so I did not move to treasuries, but I'll keep a finger close to the button. http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/ContrarianChronicles/NoShelterFromTheHousingStorm.aspx
Hi Mark,
Been sitting 100% cash for awile now. I'd like to start Aiming a local company here, maybe two. I'd like to use AI, I think I own everything else except your software,,,,,,,, so I'd like to purchase the license but I can't,,, I removed AI from this puter long ago, and I get the error message that I already subscribe to the list when I try to down load again,, I need to download, then pay the $197,, help me get AI up and running on this computer, thanks, Ken
Hi Tom, Do you accept Paypal.com?
I finally got time to change that stock.npt file to
2454395 as you suggested. It works like a champ! My old number was 2417631,,,,, I don't have a clue what it means but my Newport is running again! Do you accept Paypal? Or just cash and cashier's checks? Thanks, Ken
Hi Is,
thanks for your response,,,/////Ken, with Newport you can't trade stocks beyond the current date e.g. in the future. Nor can you record trades before the start date of that AIM account.//////// I haven't and I don't either one of those as suggested. Way back when it worked, every Sunday, beginning of new week,, it would ask you to update the prices, and then I could go on from there as usual with no problems,,,, but now every single time I open the Newport Program it asks for price updates,,, everytime, without fail it asks for updates to prices,,, it doesn't matter if I close Newport and reopen, reopen later,, or due restarts or complete shutdowns,, it wants a price update now! Followed of course with the invalid date error as i try to enter any changes after the update,,,,,,,,,, its as if it never recognizes the updated prices,,, Worked great for years, paid good money for my license too, wish I could get it to go again. Thanks, Ken
Newport bug,
///////"Your trade date is not valid" If you try to enter a trade with a date that is later than the date of your last update, you will get this message. The program doesn't know what to do with a date that it sees as being in the future, so update your prices for the week before entering your trade with a date in that week. This message also occurs if you try to enter a trade with a date that is earlier than the week you initially entered the stock./////// This is where I always get stuck! I can update the prices 156,000 times in a row and I still get Invalid Trade date error. It will not let me enter any trades except the initial trade, period,,,,,,,, always invalid date after that,, Ken
Newport ain't a workin',
I'd like to ship off(email out) my Newport for repair. It still won't work. Any ideas welcomed, discussion back around #21883, thanks, Ken
Hi Steve, YTD Revised,
well not yet revised but working on it, but I did make a rather large mistake when I said +19.56 YTD. That 19% also includes my cash additions this year and 2 nice windfall checks we recieved but did not expect. Soooooooooooooooo I was way off base and I need to re-calculate my YTD. Should bring it down well into single digits. I'm still sitting 100% cash waiting for crash! <----- Did I make a funny? Ken
Happy Birthday Tom,
I couldn't tell you're any older by your typing. I hope mommy(your wife) takes good care of you on your special day. Best always, Ken
