OT... Sorry, gotta test my signature graphic.
Ooops, still getting used to Ihub. I thought ralphgoldberg's question was a private message, so I replied privately. Now that I realize it was public, here's a reprint of my respones, FWIW:
Ralphgoldberg, Gosh, there was a time I fancied myself as a reasonably good chart reader. The last three years have shaken that confidence to the very core. While I'm reasonably certain that the volume of late is daytrading, I'm equally as certain that the intel news was the validation that wave needed. Over time... and of course with some demonstrable level of success (measured in revenues),... wave should attract investors in for more than a day at a time, and I would expect a corresponding decrease in volatility.
As long as Wave is slightly more than a penny stock, anything goes.
I've followed wave for years... got called out at 17.5 back in 99. I reentered when they finally produced their Embassy E2100 chip, expecting that finally having product would lead to cash flow quicker than it has. I've rethought the investment many, many, many times. However, every time I read the story, I come to the same conclusion and I hold. In my mind, the deal was clinched when they demoed in the Intel booth and signed up National Semi. Intel just sealed it up. I've decided to see this investment through, regardless of the outcome (though obviously, I think it will be a grand slam).
Though I didn't directly answer your question, I've given the rationale for why the forces of current volatility don't really matter to me. I'm in it for next year, and the year after. I can stomach it...LOL!
Regards,
Onesevenus...
Kudos, you asked yourself the single most important question:
So, in my mind, I am asking myself, are you ready to participate in funding a "12-24 month effort", that may lead to nice returns or wipe my investment to 0?
This is a rags/riches play and is still high risk, despite encouraging progress. As they say, investing isn't about the brain, it's about the stomach.
Best to you in making your decision.
regards
Greg, of course that means it would have no effect on Wave, since it isn't Wave's chip to begin with.
Larry, your scenario was one of those apples and oranges things. I would fully expect intel to incorporate hardware. As Greg points out, the IP is a different story.
There are some among us who think that Wave's hardware may make it to the motherboard someday. Though Wave has stated many times, they don't want to be a chip company,... they prefer to have someone else make 'em. Of course, they wouldn't mind the royalties.
regards
Despite taking a whipping today, I'm quite content. For the last few days we have seen what happens when investors get a glimpse of Wave's possibilities. In a couple of quarters, ramping revenue will turn those possibilities into probabilities and we'll see far more impressive moves, IMHO. The SEC re-announcement is a red herring. In a few days it will begin to smell.
Long time shareholders know so much more about this company than the folks in control of the ticker today. I've been to the mountaintop and take strength from my knowledge. The actions of the ignorant will not obscure my view.

OT, ...kinda

Lest we forget, a week ago 11 cents would have been a 13% move.
I agree snackman, a pennant would be very bullish.... a pennant being the higher lows you're talking about, coupled with lower highs, culminating in a pinpoint from which we can rise again. I've lost faith in charts, but that formation never seems to disappoint.
regards
Well, the flagpole has been raised over the last three session. Now, let's see if we can put a pennant formation on top of it.

Alladinator, that's not how I remember it.
I remember ,"in a year." Big difference, but still very good.

And darn well worth it! LOL!

Greg S. It's not about the first quarter that such motherboards are deployed, it's about the reality that once this takes hold it will be on every motherboard. It's the recognition that no one will buy a vulnerable PC when they can get a secure one for less than $25 more.
To the regulars: Does anyone have a link to the survey data that shows these inclinations. I can't seem to find it. If you do, would you please post for Greg S.?
Thanks & regards
I can say, "AMD"... but I'd rather say, "Sony"! LOL!

Even accepting the close, Wave is up 420% in 3 days. Not too shabby; I'll take it.
regards
Yeah, it was a really lousy day. I only gained $78,000 on my wavx today. Man, this stinks!
NOT!

4.70ish 39.9M
Here we go.... Surge to the close from here!
Most here believed... through thick and thin. So, during this awful three years many have averaged down. I would guess that the average basis of the group is around $3.00 (mine is at $2.25). There are many with higher and some with lower.
So, you can understand our excitement.

Holy smokes, just got in from work... This is like hitting the lotto!!!
High Five!

Do you really hope that?
WADR, methinks not.
Well, that may be, but he's come here with out of date info and perspectives. Hang around here awhile and you'll be exposed to some great minds (and I don't mean mine).
Welcome.
That's an affirmative. They will be TPM chips. But they will run Embassy software and Embassy services, and that's where all the money comes from.
regards
That was quick, it's already over. The gist was... crooks are buying unregulated ATM machines (like those in convenience stores) and capturing private information so they can clean out bank accounts.
regards
I'm watching Fox news channel. They just did a teaser about an upcoming segment on unsafe swipes at ATM machines. I'm sure it will be lightweight compared to what we discuss here, but still the problem has growing recognition.
Tune in if it interest you, it will air in the next segment.
regards
Willem, Wave is both, but in the case of TPM services it is wave's software that intel will run, and pay royalties for.
Wave's hardware/software product is the full Embassy suite with the Embassy 2100 chip. That's what Cubic will be using... and hopefully finread some day.
Down the road, all of this could converge to the full Embassy suite.

Join Ihub...
Gang, just an opinion... for anyone who is on the fence about joining Ihub:
The premium features are absolutely great, especially the private messaging feature. It's nice to be able to thank a poster, or seek clarification without clogging the board. FWIW, it takes a lot less shares of wave to join than it did a few days ago (HF!). All kidding aside, it's not a bad thing to support the folks who provide us this forum, and keep it civil.
regards
eamonshute, Excuse my ignorance (a condition that I'm trying to cure...LOL), but are TPM's only applicable to the PC space?
Or, will TPM technology be used in wireless devices, PDA's, servers, etc.?
If it's the latter, the intel deal doesn't run around the end of the whole market, and these other deals are still quite valuable.
TIA

Help? Someone posted what 100 shares of intel purchased in 73 would be worth today. It was interesting trivia, and I'd like to pass it on. The problem is, with the volume of posts, I can't locate it. Does anyone remember who posted it, so I can search their postings? Or, is the author present?
TIA and regards
Jasstocks... Welcome; you will find it to be a great place.
One request, please unlock your Caps Lock key. If you don't want to use the Shift key, as needed, all lowercase is acceptable. All caps makes us think you're yelling at us.
Thanks, and I hope you don't mind the suggestion.

Ihub immigrants... a favor to ask:
There's always interest in the location of other posters. If you aren't hiding out, how about updating your Ihub profile to include your location?
I like seeing how we are scattered across the planet.
It's under: Tools>My Account>Edit my profile
Thanks
rachelelise... I'd like to see a Sony deal as well. As for AMD, this may be the space where the direct Wave relationship with NSM retains significance. For that matter, Sony might be covered with this same blanket. It will be interesting to see.

Protamine1, Your link does not work.

What's way cool is that our ship hasn't even come in yet. BUT, it has definitely radioed ahead for a harbor pilot!
Fast forward to next year when revenues grow exponentially ...quarter after quarter. Snackman's prediction of 24 quarters in a row of compounding growth (Did I get that right, Snack?) could well be accurate.
regards
I'll bet this makes Cubic proud of their selection. There's still plenty of room for Embassy hardware, as well. Though, I reckon I could settle for only wave's IP being ubiquitous. Wave is on the way to the Bargian vision.
regards
Snackman, If you are able to attend this year's SHM, why not suggest to SKS that next years meeting be held in Vegas?
I think it would be well attended!
I sure like this view from the mountain top!
Congrats to you!!!

Just crossed the 19M shares traded mark.

WOW, just got home. What a nice surprise!!!
From the Cubic Go Card page:
http://www.cubic.com/CSD/go-card.htm
"GO CARD is a contactless smart card with an embedded chip and antenna that communicates via radio frequency with special readers - also developed by Cubic - at the point of entry into transit faregates, ticket vending machines, parking systems, and potentially, building doors and airport boarding gates.
At the point of entry, users touch their smart cards to a reader that scans the code. By incorporating biometrics into the system, the reader can compare the facial, fingerprint or other biometric characteristics of the cardholder to the image on the card - in a fraction of a second."
Methinks Cubic may have found the key to making their 'special readers' even more 'special'... that is, faster, interoperable, and programmable.
Hmmm, think Cubelets!
regards
So, connecting the dots...
...from the discussion of Maximus's Puerto Rico system and today's cubic announcement. Most likely, the original system was put together using readers from the original batch that wave had SCM manufacturer for them. It's quite possible that folks liked what they saw and now, a volume supplier is needed to proliferate this solution (Quite possibly to applications beyond the Puerto Rico system). This could be quite meaningful, IMHO.

Replying to myself- Found it:
My memory was fuzzy, they were using embassy in lieu of doing it on the smart card.
It was from the August 2002 CC, and can be found at:
http://www.unclever.com/wavx/ (Thanks Unc!)
"We just deployed technology with Maximus to Puerto Rico for a health care application, basically providing full biometric support for authentication in their health care system, so a smart card and a finger print sensor. They're doing a biometric comparison on EMBASSY. They've been very pleased with the results. We're doing a biometric comparison on EMBASSY I think in 0.2 seconds, and their previous solution was to do it on the smart card and it was taking approximately 30 seconds. And we think the scope of that contract is somewhere in the range of about $1m over the course of the next 18 months. And the first units have been shipped. They're in evaluation by the customer, and Maximus is pursuing the contract."
Hey, I could really be on to something here! Cooooooool
Snackman... In one of the CC's last year, SKS was talking about some demonstrations/experiments that were being done in using Embassy to perform processing from biometric devices. I'm fuzzy on this, but it may even have been Maximus doing this work. Seems to me that Cubics may likely be using Embassy to integrate a biometric layer with their smartcard functionality ...and Maximus may indeed be involved. As I remember in that call, SKS stated that Embassy was much quicker than the current biometric processors which were tailored specifically for that task. Blatant speculation here, but what the heck?
I believe this is good news.
