Men who go to church regularly are, according to various studies, more likely to get married, and less likely to cheat on their wives or girlfriends, to abuse them, or to get divorced. It’s the same for kids. Churchgoing kids abuse drugs less and have better relationships with their parents, according to Robert Putnam, author of “Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community.”
Fingers crossed...according to this Di and I will live a long happy life
less likely to cheat on their wives or girlfriends, to abuse them, or to get divorced
Funny thing...when I married my ex quit going to Church but once divorced...started back...Hmmmmm
Morning K...I wonder how many will come around once they realize how dangerous the AltLeft really is...to their bottom line??
Thanks...he is adorable if I do say so myself...<VBG>
Andrew McCabe scrambles to deny 'coup plotting'
By Monica Showalter
After a slew of headlines from former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe finally admitting that he and his Justice Department cronies were plotting a de facto coup against a democratically elected president in what CBS News billed as a "bombshell interview," McCabe now says his remarks were "taken out of context and misrepresented."
As if he wouldn't know about the Washington leak games up close. But this is a big bid to backtrack.
According to The Hill:
A spokeswoman for former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe said Friday that comments he made regarding a potential use of the 25th Amendment to oust President Trump have been "taken out of context and misrepresented."
"At no time did Mr. McCabe participate in any extended discussions about the use of the 25th Amendment, nor is he aware of any such discussions," spokeswoman Melissa Schwartz said in a statement. "Mr. McCabe has merely confirmed a discussion that was initially reported elsewhere."
Actually, it sounds high-schoolish. He's not exactly denying a coup plot, which was firmly established after his 60 Minutes interview to be aired Sunday. He's actually just trying to extricate himself from responsibility for it — saying he's now repeating stories he heard from others, and the whole thing was former Justice Department official Rod Rosenstein's idea.
Not me. Rosenstein did it.
Obviously, this is a big blunder — the admission of a full-blown coup plot against a democratically elected president, which is something the Boston Herald says stands in stark contrast to the huge police show to arrest Trump ally Roger Stone and ought to be good for some jail time.
It should be — the Boston Herald's harsh editorial discusses the implications of those revelations:
According to CBS' Scott Pelley, the reporter who interviewed McCabe, after President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, McCabe jumped into action with other members of the Justice Department. McCabe was alarmed that Trump "might have won the White House with the aid of the government of Russia." The next day, he brought the investigators together for a meeting.
"There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment," Pelley said.
"I was speaking to the man who had just run for the presidency and just won the election for the presidency," McCabe told CBS. "And who might have done so with the aid of the government of Russia, our most formidable adversary on the world stage, and that was something that troubled me greatly."
The arrogance is astounding.
According to Pelley, McCabe noted that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein offered to wear a wire in order to record conversations with President Trump and the idea was discussed on several occasions. It was "so serious that he took it to the lawyers at the FBI to discuss it," Pelley explained on "CBS This Morning."
McCabe managed to get a special counsel appointed, who to date has dogged President Trump with his own Inspector Javert and resulted in several of his aides thrown in jail for process crimes, as well as drawn amazing abuses of power, such as the surveillance of hapless Carter Page. MccCabe's self-satisfiedly called that appointment the culmination of his life work, his own mission accomplished. "If I got nothing else done as acting director, I had done the one thing I needed to do," he wrote.
Overthrowing an elected president? A president who has been hell on Russia with sanctions, and in the confrontations over Syria, Turkey, Ukraine, and Venezuela? A president who refused to meet with President Putin at a big summit?
I had no problem with the FBI being suspicious of Trump's Russia ties at the beginning — Trump, after all, had done business with the Russians, and based on his ownership of the Miss Universe Organization seemed to have a weakness for the Russian and Slavic beauties. But fact after fact has since come out about Russians not being able to get anywhere with Trump. The famous Trump Tower meeting with Don Trump, Jr. was a Democratic Party setup, and nothing good for Russia came of it. The Russian press grumbled about not being able to reach anyone in the Trump camp during the campaign, and they probably still do.
But even as these facts came out, McCabe refused to drop his thesis. Did the FBI not have informants' reports delivering the truth? One wonders. Or was McCabe just emotionally addicted to phony, Russian-generated opposition research via the Steele dossier instead? It's astonishing how wedded he was to pinning some kind of Russia charges on Trump. At what point would McCabe ever drop his thesis that Trump colluded with the Russians to steal the election from Hillary Clinton? He argues he was on solid ground. Now that the special counsel is preparing to close up shop with nothing, he clings to his insistence that he was on "solid ground."
Yet as the shell of that government abuse is about all that's left of the FBI and special counsel probes, now he's trying to extricate himself and say other guys did it.
This is the reaction of a baby. Sorry, big boy, it's time to face the music.

Bad news for Ilhan Omar and all the other defenders of Venezuela's dictatorship from Live Aid-lovin' Richard Branson
By Monica Showalter
Hey, Nicolás Maduro! Hey, Ilhan Omar!
Guess who's jetting over to the Colombian border city of Cucuta now that the Venezuelan dictatorship has blocked all those truckloads of U.S. foreign aid!
Sure enough, Richard Branson! Blocking foreign aid is a very good way for a busy dictator get a visit from this guy.
The bleeding-heart British liberal billionaire, whose pet causes up until now have been global warming, starving Africans, AIDS, homelessness, animal rights, and a heaping helping of Obama-love, is now focused on...starving Venezuelans. He's putting on a big LIVE AID-style extravaganza concert on Feb. 22, featuring superstars such as Shakira, Juanes, Peter Gabriel, and tons of others. It's going to get global press and will be live-streamed for all the Millennials to watch, join in, and make their donations. Branson says he's going to raise $100 million. According to the English-language Bogotá-based City Paper:
The concert will be held near the overland crossing with Venezuela which was barricaded this week by security forces loyal to the regime of President Nicolás Maduro after he gave orders not let in any humanitarian aid from the U.S using Colombian soil as transit. "The world can no longer close its eyes to this unacceptable situation," said Branson, adding that audiences around the world will be able to watch the concert via live streaming at: www.venezuelaaidlive.com
Branson's charity concert recalls the original Live Aid of 1985, organized by Bob Geldof (spelling fixed –ed) and Midge Ure, to raise awareness of the famine in Ethiopia, and featured in the film Bohemian Rhapsody.
This one will be big like that, too, and here he comes...
To the rest of the civilized world, whether one is conservative or liberal, it's good news.
This concert, by a guy who has nothing to do with President Trump and probably doesn't like him, represents a sea change in the sentiment from the fashionable left, championing all those millions and millions of Venezuelans who have sought international support as they seek to restore their democracy. It's frankly a beautiful thing. That ugly emblematic picture of blocked aid along with the news photos of Venezuelans digging in garbage for food, eating zoo animals, and flooding the Colombian border to flee seems to have done the job to move even the establishment liberals. Branson shows that the liberals are onboard.
That should tighten the noose just a little harder on the Venezuelan dictatorship, now that these fashionable liberals are storming the beaches. Venezuela's democrats have stated adamantly that they welcome support of all sides of the spectrum from abroad as elements of the Russian propaganda machine try to paint anyone supporting Venezuela's democrats as "far-right."
Nope, not with stylin' Richard Branson slathering his oleaginous "concern" onto the Venezuelans now.
And what a change it represents from those days when Hollywood celebrities would make political pilgrimages to the socialist "sea of happiness" of Hugo Chávez's Venezuela. Sean Penn, Naomi Campbell, Oliver Stone, Dial-Joe-4-Oil Kennedy, eat your hearts out. (But defectors are welcome.)
Will the money be wasted? Who knows? At a minimum, it probably won't all be, and Branson's name has never been associated with aid fraud, so points for him. What's even more important is that Venezuela's quest for democracy and food has now become the respectable and mainstream "narrative." Madonna might soon be adopting a Venezuelan kid. Will these lefties co-opt the Venezuelan democracy movement? Don't think so — the Venezuelans have held pretty firm control over how they want their democracy revolution to go, and yes, there are left-liberal types among them, such as these bloggers, as well as the late great newspaper editor Teodoro Petkoff. Everyone is welcome.
What matters is that the dictatorship gets smaller and smaller, less powerful, less influential, more pariah-like, as detested abroad as it is at home, culminating in either a Ceau?escu scenario, a Noriega scenario, or a comfortable exile in some hellhole like Cuba for Maduro and his cronies.
Just as important, a concert like this encompassing a huge chunk of the mainstream left outside President Trump is absolute poison to the Russian propaganda machine, which has sought to paint Venezuela's democrats "far-right" and full of death squads.
The people who are going come out of this smelling like skunks are the Venezuela late-stage socialism-defenders, such as socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and socialist Rep. Ilhan Omar, who have loudly defended the Maduro dictatorship and blared the Russian propaganda talking points about the far right and U.S. "intervention" with a smiling malevolent Omar slimily seeking to discredit honorable U.S. officials taking the initiative to support the Venezuelans as Ocasio-Cortez cheered her on. Neither cared in the least about the Venezuelans. And with Branson oozing compassion, suddenly, they look very un-hip, like creeps, actually, in bed with Russian trolls and puppeting away for them.
If they don't backtrack, Branson's big concert and all his Millennials grooving along ought to finish this pair and maybe Bernie Sanders, too, off politically.
It helps a lot that Branson has joined the Venezuelans. Thanks, Richie.

With Amazon NYC 'second HQ' deal canceled, Ocasio-Cortez now officially is a huge problem for Dems
By Thomas Lifson
Really do need a bigger pop corn popper
Move over, Speaker Pelosi, and make room for New York governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City mayor Bill de Blasio as Democrats waking up to the disaster the rise of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is inflicting on the Democratic Party. She is no longer just a potential threat to their schemes and operating principles; she has taken a wrecking ball to them. Trust me: they desperately want to be rid of her, but, due to her media presence and popularity with the young and ignorant, cannot visibly stick the shiv in her back. So Nancy Pelosi's ability to "cut your head off and you won't even know you're bleeding" (as her own daughter put it) will come in handy.
The Amazon tax breaks, calculated to be worth $3 billion over a period of many years, were going to bring 25,000 high-paying jobs to Ocasio-Cortez's district in Queens and generate many times that sum in increased tax receipts, according to Cuomo and de Blasio, who exulted over the deal. But offering any kind of benefit to a big corporation founded and headed by the richest man in the world is anathema to the radical left.
Ocasio-Cortez may not fully realize that her political party is now the party of big business, trading government favors of all sorts for massive political donations (and censorship of conservatives on internet forums controlled by the tech giants).
Cropped screen grab via Grabien.
But she has destroyed a key plan of the elders to revive a blue city and state that are hemorrhaging jobs, tax revenue, and middle-class residents. Even worse, she has sent a message to the tech plutocrats who are the new powers behind the scenes of the progressive left that any deals made with them cannot be guaranteed to come to fruition. This is a mortal threat to the cozy working relationships cultivated by wheeler-dealers like Pelosi and Schumer with their tech and financial mogul buddies.
Yesterday, in exulting over her victory, Sandy O revealed that she has no understanding at all about government finance, telling a reporter:
The city was paying for those jobs, so frankly, if we were willing to give Amazon three — if we were willing to give away $3 billion for this deal, we could invest those $3 billion in our district ourselves if we wanted to. We could hire out more teachers, we can fix our subways, we can put a lot of people to work for that money if we wanted to.
As Marc Thiessen first noted, Sandy apparently thinks there was three billion dollars in a bank that was given to Amazon, so it is available to be used elsewhere on all the goodies she mentions. But of course, the three billion was merely a rebate on taxes that otherwise would have been paid by Amazon over a period of years. With no deal, there will be no such tax payments. Not the three billion, nor any of the taxes above that amount that Amazon would have been paying.
The spectacle of someone this ignorant having a vote in Congress on the laws governing taxation would be hilarious if it were not so frightening. Amazon clearly realizes that there is no upside in dealing with any governmental unit under the sway of Sandy and her supporters. The other tech giants watched and learned. That is why Pelosi, Cuomo, de Blasio and the other ruling-class stooges in the Democratic Party must be rid of her.
My bet is that she will never even see it coming.
Update from Thomas Lifson:
I am not alone in seeing the stilettos being unsheathed. David Marcus at The Federalist:
...there is good reason to believe that this debacle has opened the door to a potential primary challenge. Given that almost the entire New York Democratic Party machine, from Mayor Bill de Blasio to Governor Andrew Cuomo were desperate for the Amazon deal; a challenge to AOC might well attract some serious backers.
And the polls back it up. According to a recent Sienna College poll, a majority of New Yorkers supported the deal, an even bigger majority in Queens, the very borough where the HQ would have been located. Moreover, 70 percent of black New Yorkers and 81 percent of Hispanic New Yorkers wanted Amazon in Gotham. Both demographic groups suffer from higher unemployment than the rest of the city. As Daily News Columnist Rob George put it in Twitter, it was “AOC vs. POC.”
A second clue: People tell me that Morning Joe on MSNBC -- the deep state's favorite TV show -- spent a lot of time trashing Ocasio-Cortez.
