Only thing is that the article is 3 years old Nick.
"Their home is probably stacked to the ceiling with toilet paper." - Funny
That is unless the virus mutates, which according to Dr. Fauci may have happened already, hence younger folks are now succumbing.
Hi SF,
There was an interview this morning on CNBC with a private biomedical company CEO that said they are working on addressing the virus directly by injecting antibodies into hospitalized infected people too ill to be immunized. This sounds promising. We can't provide a vaccine as it may take much more than needed time and won't work on ill patients. Perhaps a tack like this will work. I hope so. It's not a cure and won't build immunity, but may eradicate the virus in patients. Fingers crossed.
To just say that the economy is more important than American lives isn't agreeable to me.
Yes, it will be.
There should be ( should have been ) a nationwide stay at home already in effect for the last few weeks.
Get it done. Get it over with and move on. I always say. Well, not always, mostly to past girlfriends...
Nick,
You know how apolitical I am, and many times I don't agree with some of the silly statements made here and in other places, understanding where the individual posting is coming from.
But just the way I support some politicians because of my wallets considerations and concerns I see this as not only a concern of the wallet, but a concern of our health. The health of the nation and the health and financial well being of our countrymen (and women).
So yeah, I called and gave them a piece of whatever is left of my mind. So there.
Of all the stocks in my portfolios showing me red today I did actually see some green. That's not to say that I sold them, it's just to say they added a few $$$ to their value today...
OXY
SBRA
KNOP
MU
HT
CGC
BP
NFBK
Amazing. Hey there's always tomorrow.
It's a complex issue Nick, but I did call my Senator Schumer and read his voicemail the riot act.
AMZN wasn't exactly very cooperative with me, but I did eek out a minor profit from $1838 to $1890. Good enough for today. By my reckoning 9.72%
My sentiments.
Okay Nick. Not my call.
Hope not, I'm flirting with AMZN for a $100 per share day. I sure could use this to bolster my sagging portfolios.
If they do have an agreement today, Maybe lower, maybe not. Sell the good news buy the bad, But there's been so much bad news, I don't know if anyone has anything to sell anymore, at least at a profit. Anyone that's going to sell may just have. Not to call a bottom.
Wouldn't it be nice if the market actually went up on good news. Hey, I have a vivid imagination.
Awww come on Nick. Elroy has many good points including those other than mildly political. Just because others whine about what's said, shouldn't we at least tolerate some discourse ? Anyway, sometimes it's funny. If those that complain agreed with Elroy you wouldn't hear them complaining. In their complaints they imply their own political bias. Anyway just a different perspective.
Got too greedy with AMZN from a revised 1838 buy to a high of 1876, I greedily watched till its now down below my best efforts...at 1821 and dropping. Woe is me.
AMZN $1828 to 1876 and back down to 1847 in 2 hours.
Good enough for me Nick. You know when I was growing up my Mom would say to me that "Nicholas knows best" So since 1998 when I was a wee tot I began following you before investors hub. Ah those were the days of (Ms Lily), Elaine Court, MediAl and all the rest.
But I never forgot about what my Mom told me Nick. In Nick we trust. She didn't really say any of that of course, and I wasn't a wee tot in 1998. ( wish I had been ). But you get the gist.
On the other hand- Very choppy market.
CAPITULATION. Haven't seen it yet. I was almost there, but I'm just not seeing it yet. Maybe on the next leg down ? If there is one.
I have no stomach for this roller coaster. So I reopened AMZN at $1835
Pre market this a.m. closed AMZN at cost. I have no stomach for these movements.
0 profit/loss.
Stuck again with (AMZN) this time. More SH*T. I think I'm going to go on vacation from these markets. Hey wait a minute. I can't go on vacation.
Moved another 5% of Gov't money market fund to Janus Balanced fund in Insurance Annuity.
Now 50/50 between these 2 funds.
Re opened AMZN $1850. Quite a jump from 1690 and a low of $1626.
GILD is deteriorating without news. I'm thinking there's a leak that their covid19 antivirus doesn't work. Like I said. Though this may be a good longer term hold ( that's debatable) I'm seeing it drop over $10 from 85 to 75.
Unfortunately, I am holding this and will erase it from my portfolio at a loss if this continues.
This the primary reason I do not want to hold any new additions overnight. And prefer to take profits where and when they present themselves as soon as I can within that day.
Feel better soon Elroy. The problem is there's now talk of a second strain of Covid. Not good. Is there a potential for reinfection ?
Thanks SF and thanks Elroy for your updates.
Most alarming to me is the mortality rate in the U.S.
The way I see it, we're either waiting for the next shoe to drop or we're not. I look forward to massive huge trading opportunities. Getting stuck in minuscule movements is boring and more importantly not safe in this market environment. The more volatile the better. That's where I see the money.
I'm now stuck in IBM and GILD. Where my target was 80-84 in GILD, and 100-106 in IBM. I'm not looking for dividends OR liabilities.
I don't recall which Eoro nation has a law now that anyone going out must wear a surgical mask to end transmission. The easy simple effective means to contain and control the virus.
Reopened GILD at $80.
That's my assessment Court. Either this is the calm before the next storm or the storm is passing and we'll be picking up after the devastation.
Hey Nick,
I always stick around for the unfolding mess.
Emphasis on "prepared". Singapore was multiply prepared. Unlike ours truly. Let's all stand up and cheer for American ingenuity and resolve.
And trump saves the day!
From what might have been a minor outbreak. Yay us !
Who said lack of planning and mismanagement was a bad thing. At least we're now picking up speed … Now that the damage has been and continues to be done.
And things might even right themselves by the elections. Maybe. What heroes the administration would be then - to some.
Believe it or not there are some sections of Staten Island that still believe this is a hoax. Just sayin'
Not enough to see it close above 20,000 Nick. I think we're beginning to see a selling crescendo.
These are extraordinary times Nick.
An interesting note. At the time I sold DIS at $36 with a nice return. Been watching it ever since.... I wouldn't expect to see it at those levels ever again.... But as stated and many times repeated- "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition" I might change that to "Nobody expects the Covid19 Pandemic".
Catchy.
Be selective. Know the company and it's balance sheet. Look at it within the context of the present pandemic. Look for an inevitable quick trade with profit potential. If you're looking for a long term hold, wait. There's time, but don't think that all investments are equal. If you're looking for dividend payers, be sure that the company is in a solid sector, with the ability to continue paying that dividend. I like certain companies I've selected over years of watching an analyzing. I can be just as wrong as the next guy ( except Nick ). So just do your Due diligence as we've been read saying time and again.
Weeeee ! And down we go ! Circuit breaker in effect...
Continued bounce off Dow 20,000
Yes, But I'll wait and see when their parks begin opening again. I'm in no hurry. This recovery in my opinion will be painfully slow.
DIS broke $86 and it now $85.
A broken clock is always correct twice every 24 hours Nick.
Panic mode left me after the second day of this when I took massive profits I'm going to regret April 15th 2021.
So now it's time to hunker down and make some $$$ round trip.
I'll post again that this "feels" like the bottom. I believe that the panic selling and program selling leveled off yesterday and this drop is a blip that will recover.
Is this going to be a U or V shaped recovery? No I don't think so. We have a long road back in my opinion.
Price target on DIS hit- more or less. $86.15
I'm still not buying. Once DIS opens up China Disney-worlds we'll be looking in the rear view mirror.
One highlight of all this is my WMT is almost at 100% profit. Not so across the board .
