I, for one, hear ya. I tried options a few years ago with a different stock. The lesson I learned was you better have a very expensive crystal ball before playing options. Of course, this is only my humble opinion.
--How do they pay for the past
----a. Discount for lump sum payment,
----b. Spread it 50/50 between lump sum and future payments,
----c. Spread it over future payments tied to length of time for an ongoing license
Fish, IMO ab&c are moot if a settlement is reached. IIRC, the last license was for 2G and Nokia paid IDCC $258 million. I seriously doubt Merritt will let them off the hook for cheap this time. You gotta think the next license will be at least 3 times that amount. JMO
No, no thoughts on price movement except that our war with Nokia is reaching the boiling point. I'm not taking profits (or losses) until there's a ruling one way or the other. My base is about $17 so something really bad has to happen before I take a loss.
Sheesh, I wish Cramer would downgrade IDCC everyday!
Maybe they could dish out dividends in the form of shares instead of cash. I'm not sure but I think taxes wouldn't be paid until the shares are sold. Maybe one of our resident CPA's could shed some light on this. JMO
There ya go........you got the right idea!
Dozer, personally, I hope IDCC reaches fruition in the near future and as much as I enjoy the commentary on this forum, I'll find new endeavors to occupy my spare time. And you?????
I see your point. When I first read your post it appeared as if you were trying to make a feeble attempt to mix politics with business aspects at IDCC.
I hear ya Fish, lol.
After reading Paullee's and DnDodd's posts below, this is the first time in my 12 years of owning IDCC stock that Nokia appears to be squirming. I didn't see anything in either post that shows Nokia denying that they owe IDCC for infringement. Me thinks I'm seeing a bright light at the end of the tunnel. JMO
Please explain how the "tea party" fits in with IDCC management. After all, like you said, the board is getting along with each other.
Great message/letter, John. I hope it reaches the appropriate eyeballs. Would be nice to know their view of Motorola. Thanks!
Yes, thanks M3S.
Thanks Jim. Is this an international or domestic organization? And how much clout do they have in these hearings?
I must have missed something....just what is OUI?
I'd be more surprised to see you here if IDCC were UP a couple bucks, lol.
If you have not already, check out Saul Alinsky. This will explain why the current administration may not be helpful getting IDCC a win over Nokia....and the others for that matter. JMO
Thanks Olddog. I'm glad this board has members such as you to help us less than brilliant members understand this complicated process.
Olddog, in your opinion, does Nokia have a legitimate complaint? Thanks!
Thanks Sons. Now if you could be so kind as to explain what this means, lol.
Well, let's see
Hmmm, let's see..............PSON is up 16% so far today! I just sold 2/3 of my shares and broke even. The other 1/3 are free shares.
Thank you!
Jim, will there be more hearings tomorrow? Thanks
Good work, Bull. Just curious....are you an engineer or an lawyer? Maybe neither........anyways, I have always read your posts with high regard.
Thanks Loop. When you put it that way, I guess I'd be happy with a "cease and desist". At least we'd force their hand. I still can't believe the justice system takes years and years to resolve these issues. Seems the only ones making money are the lawyers. JMO
Hmmm, for some reason "treble damages" come to mind instead of 20%. JMO
Bull, I know you've been here a long time, but I'm wondering if you are an attorney. Thanks!
Nessco, I received your PM and concur 100%. Good luck with our mutual investment in IDCC.
Let's hurry up and wait sums up this investment for the last 1+ decade.
Let me be the first to congratulate you for your great words of encouragement!!!!
Thanks Gamco for going over and beyond in your research on IDCC. I gotta say this post is the best post I've read in the last year. What a Breath of fresh air.
Do we have a day and time for the hearing?
Why Zacks?
Why is Zacks all of a sudden pumping IDCC? Type in IDCC on Yahoo finance and you'll see Zacks putting out PR's everyday for IDCC. What's up with that? Anybody?
Felix, serious IDCC investors don't take him seriously. I'm sure the regular visitors/lurkers see him for what he is. Ignore him.........hopefully he'll simply fade away.
I kind of like the part where Huawei states they are a "willing licensee". It will be interesting to see how they rule on these issues. JMO
Leon, when IDCC makes some big deals I hope you take some of your profit and re-paint the Gremlin. Remember when your neighbor put this on YouTube?
LOL, Sons do you still have that green Gremlin?
Squinge both and Chrysler and GM are still I business supported by people buying their cars.
Sons, maybe Nokia should be compared to Solyndra, lol.
Miller, perhaps you could enlighten us as to what happened to all the shares of IDCC options?
Hey Ima, how is Ranger doing these days? Does he still have IDCC shares?
Mickey, even though we're still chasing the carrot, I have to agree with you.......I wouldn't want to be short IDCC right now. Too many irons in the fire. JMO
