I'm no expert on how the Red Cross operates but I do know they are highly responsible for collecting donated blood all over the world. And would be the logical choice to lead cord blood collections from doners.
I'd still like an answer if anyone knows how blood donated to the Red Cross is handled. If you have surgery and get three pints of donated blood is there a charge by the hospital?
Yes. As far as I know.
That sure was a quick jump to a penny on low volume.
The way I look at this is there are two issues with public donations. One, the Doctors aren't motivated to collect public cord blood unless they are being compensated. That's where the Red Cross could help out for sure. The other is who pays the shipping costs, the processing costs, and storage fees. The Red Cross has a lot of government connections and could lead the fight for getting gov funding for these costs. All speculation on my part for sure but seems to make sense.
So are you now thinking a public/private partnership with the International Red Cross may be a good idea?
I say buy CBAI, put under your mattress, and don't touch it again for at least fives years. LMAO. Couldn't resist.
Euro, I thought you just recently said your investment banker friend was still confident? So why would you possibly sell then?
Panther, my first concern is when will we become a graysheet stock if we don't submit filings? I don't know what the rules are related to that but we're in danger of that happening at any time IMO. As for news, I have no clue and Aret management doesn't seem to care to shed any light on the situation. An update on there website saying negotiations are still ongoing or something like that isn't too much to ask IMO. Unreal.
The Red Cross is a global organization but I'm no expert on them. Maybe soneone else can shed some light on this thought?
I have no clue but am sure it's huge. The issue is how does someone build up the inventory needed to provide those matches. It would take a large supply to do a match. Someone needs to pay even at a much reduced rate for the storage. The Red Cross has excellent government support and could be a nice partner IMO. But I'm just speculating since I have little knowledge about how for instance blood collection is funded today and we know matching stems is much more difficult than matching blood.
The going rate to provide a stem match today is around $35,000. And that is from donated stems, not privately stored stems. So I'm not clear what you are saying. I asked about the cost of blood cause I don't really know. But I do know most of it is collected by the Red Cross.
If you have surgery and need say three pints of blood you're saying it's free?

Morning all. Happy Matt gave us more details on the German acquisition. Spent some time last night thinking about all this and it made me think of something that I had never considered. We all know there will be a market for both private and public storage and wondering how we can/will get more into the public storage side. Well this acquisition may offer a clue. Who is the worlds leader in blood collection/donations? The Red Cross. Maybe working worldwide with the Red Cross we could develope a public collection/storage plan that could help supply the worlds needs and make money for CBAI.
I'm certainly glad to see us branching out globally and while this wasn't a huge acquisition it's a start. Plus I still expect big news related to filling out Vegas facility soon. This was just one of many acquisitions coming. GLTA
I agree there wasn't much info in that announcement. Expected revenues, what we paid and how, etc. But we're now a global player and I'm sure there is much more news on the horizon.
I have no clue who is selling and how they are holding this down. But I think we'll see a steady climb from here in the days ahead. And hopefully a breakout later today.
I think that's the German Red Cross and not the company we bought?

On Fidelity L2 Arca is sitting at .009 on the bid with a large number of shares. The bid support looks very strong right now.
And welcome to CBAI. I think your timing is going to be about perfect.
Is this just for people on Medicare/Medicaid or required by all insurance companies? Not sure how this bill applies to people that already have insurance.
Morning all. Mr Long, will the info about entity ownership become public information? March 31st doesn't seem reasonable since the President hasn't even signed the bill yet. I'm not clear at all how this bill helps us or hurts us yet.
Can you imagine how much money some of these guys are going to make if they close the deal? Wow. You own any shares Dog?
All of it has been moved to Vegas. Corcell is the company that sells storage not CBAI. CBAI is just the holding company. So anything Corcell has or sells goes to Vegas now.
Hey Holter, just to clear one thing up that I said yesterday. If Matt uses equity financing to buy inventory there is no write-off and the entire 90% gross profit immediatly falls to our bottom line. Without the Optimus deal though I'm not sure he has equity financing unless he gets it from some other place.
Hey Panther. How you holding up? This is going to be our week. I had a dream last night and my dreams come true.
Hold on Holter. I think you will be sprinting very soon. IMO of course.
Actually Myth. In my last position I was the CFO of a business unit for all of Latin America. They have some crazy laws down there. I searched for the Argentina laws and couldn't find them. But someone posted a link a while back that showed the new law making all stems stored public. For someone in Argentina, the only way they can store and keep it for themselves is to store it outside of the country. Crazy for sure. So check back a ways as the link was posted here and maybe by Mr Long.
IMO. It's unreal. What a shell game.
Agree with that too.
Exactly. But we can't do it for free in the meantime. Someone has to step up.
Do your own DD. I'm not going to take the time to do yours.
I totally agree with that. But lets assume someone up there was smart enough to figure this out. They could put storage money in the health care bill and plan to reduce the cost of treating all these diseases for life. Just think of the money spent to treat diabeties, etc. Huge compared to storage costs and stem matching. Huge. It would be a cost savings that was real.
LOL. Well just hope he buys plenty of inventory quickly.
Actually Myth, if you did your DD you would find that Biocells is a large company that does a big business in Australia and other countries in the southern hemisphere. Biocells had no choice but to outsource there private stem storage because in Argentina any stems stored are by law public stems. And I'm sure Biocell customers pay a premium to store privately since it has to be done out of the country. I'm sure Biocells will eventually build a storage facilty in another Latin American country that is more friendly.
For the reason I just said. Basically, they are undercapitalized and we're very very liquid. That's why we are buyers and they are sellers. Some may even have to be approved by the Courts, which takes a long time.
Easy. Because they are currently outsourcing the processing and storage like we use too when we were losing money.
And I say especially on the public side because if you can get the government to fund the storage even at some reduced rate, then we can also make money on the backend by selling matching stems. They are currently going for about $35K a pop.
