Does AT&T Mobile Barcode Services interoperate with other solutions?
AT&T is actively working with other technology providers and carriers to make these various solutions interoperable. We recognize that providing a seamless experience and network is necessary for a good experience for consumers and businesses and striving to implement global standards wherever possible, in order to have an ecosystem that resolves barcodes as easily as making a phone call or sending a text message. This means that regardless of where a marketer creates a code, the goal will be for it to work across many networks, phones and platforms.
Sounds Familiar!

AT&T Code Scanner, Free Mobile Application for Scanning Mobile Barcodes Now Available
Consumers Can Also Create Personal Mobile Barcodes with AT&T Create-a-Code
DALLAS, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T* is furthering its innovation with mobile barcodes with the availability of a free mobile application to read barcodes utilizing a variety of mobile devices across multiple platforms including Android™ and BlackBerry®.
Today's announcement is the latest milestone in AT&T's efforts to develop mobile barcodes into an effective direct response solution for brands and their consumers. To that end, the company is investing in AT&T Mobile Barcode Services, a suite of products and services that enables marketers to provide measurable experiences with their target audience, at the moment of interest.
AT&T Mobile Barcode Services include:
•AT&T Code Scanner: a free mobile application** which provides a fun and easy way to scan 2D (QR and datamatrix codes) and 1D (UPC and EAN) barcodes found in magazines, stores, and online, unlocking new ways to experience the world. Consumers can download the free application through several app stores including BlackBerry® App World™ and Android Market™ or go to http://scan.mobi on their mobile device. AT&T Code Scanner provides consumers with the tool they need to experience a sneak-peak into the exciting potential of this emerging mobile technology. Consumers are encouraged to visit www.att.com/mobilebarcodes to see examples of how mobile barcodes can be used.
•AT&T Create-a-Code: is a free service that allows consumers to create their own personal mobile barcodes by visiting www.att.com/createacode. Mobile barcodes can be created to direct friends and family to a v-card, Facebook account, personal blog or favorite website.
•Code Management Platform: built for business to create, manage and measure mobile barcodes campaign experiences for their customers. It is available now for AT&T's Mobile Barcode Charter Program members, with future availability to all business segments.
"Our focus on the opportunity that mobile barcode offers businesses to connect directly with their consumers is the latest example of the work AT&T is doing to drive the emergence of new categories of devices and applications that are enhanced by wireless network connectivity," said Michael Antieri, President, Advanced Enterprise Mobility Solutions, AT&T Business Solutions. "Over the course of this year, we intend to help our business customers create measurable and fully managed brand experiences with mobile barcodes to better interact with their consumers."
Consumer barcode scanning represents the next generation of interactive targeted marketing, enabling advertisers to deliver relevant content and offers to consumers, as well as being a valuable and efficient tool for consumers to search for promotions and information using their mobile device.
In a recent United States consumer survey, 80% of respondents indicated interest in scanning barcodes with their mobile phone. Sixty-nine percent of those surveyed want to scan barcodes to capture and redeem coupons and discounts(1).
Earlier this year, AT&T announced the formation of a 2D barcode charter program designed to provide AT&T and its customers with a better understanding of the marketing and advertising potential that 2D barcodes offers. AT&T is working closely with the companies presently participating in the program to test consumer response rates as well as the effectiveness of consumer barcode scanning technology as an interactive marketing vehicle.
To download and begin using the AT&T Code Scanner, go to www.att.com/codescanner or go to http://scan.mobi on a mobile device.
To create a mobile barcode for personal use, go to AT&T Create-a-Code at www.att.com/createacode.

CH is neither the inventor nor the assignee. He may not need Neustar but he would need to cross the patent pending to accomplish what you describe.
I give up!
What I described is patent pending in the US and all of Europe, so yes technically it is in the patent portfilio and will be driving the revenue bus IMO.
Time will tell - anyone else have an opinion?
Why wouldn't the MS Tag read just be routed to the correct infrastructure to return the desired content/function? Neustar/Neomedia would not have to be capable of performing the MS protocols, just the code routing for which they would recieve a fee from MS or the advertiser based on the scan in exchange for facilitating traffic to the campaign. Why does it matter if the code is 1d-2d-open-proprietary-direct or indirect?
That is my interpretation of the patent application and it's intended function. I do not see the conflict with the other patents in the NEOM portfolio.
I'm outta my league here with the technical stuff but you probably already knew that.
CH said long ago that NEOM was building an interoprerable ecosystem for mobile barcodes similar to the ATM machine. I believe this patent application was what he was referring to. I also believe that it is the basis for the Neustar registry/clearinghouse function. I could be completly wrong but I do know that it costs me 3-4% everytime I withdraw cash from any ATM other than the ones that are owned by my bank. I see it playing out in a fashion similar to this example.
Let's use Microsoft tags for example. Currently you must have the MS reader and it will only read MS tags. Under the Neustar/Neomedia format, I believe that MS reader will read any code and any reader will read MS Tags. If the tag/code/campaign manager etc. is foriegn to the provider, a fee will be charged for use of the interoperability function provided by Neustar/Neomedia.
At least we have established that the patent application pertaines to mobile barcodes.
Probably a poorly worded example, and may be totally inaccurate, but I would like to hear additional viewpoints/discussion on this topic.
Examination of patent application 09719680 - MESSAGING INTERCHANGE SYSTEM - is underway at EPO.

Hi Claw, Iv'e been holding and accumulating also for a few months now. I agree this one should turn out to be a winner but it requires a little patience. Hopefully not as much as that other stock. Seem that the Yahoo board is the primary forum for this one, not much activity on this board.
Better yet give it to personalizit, krays never asked for anything from anyone! I have a Pacer account for my own information and don't mind sharing what I decide to download. If I choose not to download 284 pages because I'm simply not that interested, then I don't have anything to share.
Claw, make sure your attorneys are aware of this filing as they prepare your rebuttal to the motion to dismiss. (I suspect they already are but just in case). After reading the brief, it seems that YA is claiming that they were never beneficial owners of more than 10%

The Neustar Advantage
Neustar’s barcode clearinghouse service delivers these valuable benefits in comparison to standard mobile barcode solutions:
Reliability – Be confident that your barcode campaign will work properly with popular barcode readers and code formats. Neustar’s clearinghouse normalizes the various barcode technologies.
Security – Protect your brand with the ability to suspend or shut down codes due to fraud, hacking, or other malicious behavior.
Scale – Extend the reach of your barcode campaign. Barcodes registered with Neustar’s clearinghouse work with a greater variety of mobile devices and barcode readers than campaigns from a single company, ensuring that your message will reach a broader audience.

Barcode news hitting the wires almost daily, there was a time when something once a month was unusual. It would be a shame if NEOM wasn't a major participant after all the years of expectation from shareholders. I personally do not believe that will be the case.

Pops, I've read it from end to end, I suggest you do the same and get back to us. I challenge you to point to "home phone answering machine" anywhere in any document.
Specifically, the system of the present invention is designed to allow a messaging system which receives a foreign code (i.e. not a code native to that OMS) to submit that code to the messaging interchange system for identification and correct routing information or to redirect the code to the correct messaging system (e.g.) resolution server. The messaging interchange system takes the responsibility for determining the correct owner of the code, providing routing information back to the home (originating) messaging system
I find 5 applications pending in the US and several in other countries also.
MESSAGING INTERCHANGE SYSTEM is the one I have been watching most closely. It is under examination at both the USPTO and EPO.
It's the real money maker IMO.

Just thought I would post something Neomedia related to change it up a bit.

Actually, Scanbuy and the other four opponents filed their oppositions in August of 2006.
I have been following the appeal for some time now and something changed regarding these oppositions very recently. I have been unable to find any publication regarding what changes were made however.
If memory serves me correctly, Scanbuy and Mtag both agreed not to oppose any NEOM patents anywhere in the world at the time they signed their respective licensing agreements/settlement.

I can verify that the patent was granted in 2005 and I can also verify that the patent was revoked in 2009. Neomedia has appealed that decision and that is where it is currently. Not sure about the presumption of validity during the appeal process which looks like it will drag on for some time.

Mobile Discovery’s QR Code Campaign for Canada Tourism Makes Headlines Across the U.S.
Largest Ad Buy Ever Leveraging QR Codes to Connect Print with the Interactive World of Mobile
New York (PRWEB) June 10, 2010 -- Instead of reading about Canadian travel destinations in this weekend’s paper, Americans experienced travelling in Canada via their mobile phones. Using QR codes linking to videos that bring to life various Canadian destinations, cultural experiences and vacation packages, the Canadian Tourism Commission, launched a large national newspaper campaign featuring interactive newspaper wraps that resemble a printed version of an online travel blog.
Newspaper wraps completely covered Sunday’s LA Times, Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, Friday’s San Francisco Chronicle and inside the New York Times. Newspaper wraps are a traditional advertising tool that looks like a cover sheet folded around the paper, providing four full pages of content. Yet, there is nothing traditional about this ad campaign, which integrates QR codes to directly connect readers with digital content on their mobile phone.
The newspaper wrap is designed as a paper version of an online travel blog with experiences, offers and even user comments as they would appear in online social networks like Facebook, Flickr, and YouTube. QR codes linking to mobile videos allow readers to experience the thrill of zip lining at 90mph in Calgary, ride a horse carriage through old Quebec City, explore Montreal’s nightlife, and view hundreds of videos from destinations across Canada. In addition, readers can scan QR codes to get exclusive travel offers and book their next Canadian vacation right on their phones.
The Canadian Tourism Commission, Canada's national tourism marketing organization, recognizes that today “the vast majority of people book their travel online and in these online social communities they find inspiration to explore, and share their stories, photos, ratings and experiences,” said Geoff Wilton, Global Account Executive, DDB Canada. “This campaign is designed to bring the online world to people reading the paper, providing an enhanced multimedia experience. By scanning the QR codes and interacting with the ads it brings the travel experience off the page and into real life.”
To bring this unique vision to reality, DDB Canada, agency of record for the Canadian Tourism Commission, partnered with Mobile Discovery, the leading expert on using QR codes for mobile marketing. The Mobile Discovery Connected Media Platform allows advertisers and marketers to professionally manage QR code campaigns. The system allows codes to be provisioned, customized, organized and modified at any point in the life of the campaign as well as providing analytics and reporting.
“Consumers are increasingly experiencing the world through their phones, while print remains a primary channel,” explains, David Miller, CEO, Mobile Discovery. “Our solution allows marketers to leverage the unique benefits of both. We are very pleased to be working with DDB Canada and the Canadian Tourism Commission to promote the unique experiences Canadian tourism has to offer.”

Claw, any input as to why YA has not filed an answer to the complaint that was due on the 25th of May. I see an extension for neomedia but not YA. TIA
No - it only means that I have not yet obtained my release fron the asylum. My doctor says that he believes that I am only faking sanity by selling my shares. He says I still suffer from grandios thinking and continue to display the obsessive tendancies of relentless due diligence. He believes that I will probably try to buy shares again so he refuses to sign the release. Not only that, he has moved me into the real psyco ward and is subjectimg me to the patients that relentlessly repeat their same negative and dilusional thoughts over and over and over (I suspect Schizophrenia).
