It lies about one degree of latitude (137 kilometres or 85 miles) north of the equator, off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, bordering the Straits of Malacca to the west, the Riau Islands (Indonesia) to the south, and the South China Sea to the east. The country's territory is composed of one main island, 63 satellite islands and islets, and one outlying islet, the combined area of which has increased by 25% since the country's independence as a result of extensive land reclamation projects. It has the second greatest population density in the world. With a multicultural population and recognizing the need to respect cultural identities, Singapore has four official languages; English, Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil. English is the lingua franca. Multiracialism is enshrined in the constitution and continues to shape national policies in education, housing, and politics.

Modern Singapore was founded in 1819 by Sir Stamford Raffles as a trading post of the British Empire. In 1867, the colonies in Southeast Asia were reorganised and Singapore came under the direct control of Britain as part of the Straits Settlements. During the Second World War, Singapore was occupied by Japan in 1942, and returned to British control as a separate crown colony following Japan's surrender in 1945. Singapore gained self-governance in 1959 and in 1963 became part of the new federation of Malaysia, alongside Malaya, North Borneo, and Sarawak. Ideological differences led to Singapore being expelled from the federation two years later and it became an independent country.
After early years of turbulence and despite lacking natural resources and a hinterland, the nation rapidly developed to become one of the Four Asian Tigers based on external trade, becoming a highly developed country; it is ranked ninth on the UN Human Development Index and has the second-highest GDP per capita (PPP) in the world. Singapore is the only country in Asia with a AAA sovereign rating from all major rating agencies. It is a major financial and shipping hub, consistently ranked the most expensive city to live in since 2013, and has been identified as a tax haven. Singapore is placed highly in key social indicators: education, healthcare, quality of life, personal safety, and housing, with a home-ownership rate of 91%. Singaporeans enjoy one of the world's longest life expectancies, fastest Internet connection speeds and one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world.
Singapore is a unitary parliamentary republic with a Westminster system of unicameral parliamentary government. While elections are considered generally free, the government exercises significant control over politics and society, and the People's Action Party has ruled continuously since independence. One of the five founding members of ASEAN, Singapore is also the headquarters of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Secretariat and Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) Secretariat, as well as many international conferences and events. Singapore is also a member of the United Nations, World Trade Organization, East Asia Summit, Non-Aligned Movement, and the Commonwealth of Nations.
FOUR REASONS ASIA NFT"$ WILL LEAD::: The virtual hype about NFTs is very real, and traditionalist investors who dismiss them as a passing fad are fooling themselves.
So why am I confident that Asia will become the world’s largest space for them? For four key reasons.
First, our daily lives are becoming ever more tech-driven – and this is picking up momentum all the time. Nowhere is this more true than in Asia, where there is already the highest level of adoption of tech products with advanced features, according to most research, including a detailed study by the German market research institute GfK. There is no reason for this not to extend to NFTs.
Second, it is about demographics. With a growing middle-class segment with increasing spending power and a younger demographic – who are “digital natives,” having grown up under the ubiquitous influence of the Internet and other technologies – there will be increasing demand for tech-orientated products such as digital investments.
Third, China – the world’s second-largest and Asia’s largest economy – has recently been making bullish comments about cryptocurrencies, which are the way NFTs are bought.
Normally, the People’s Republic embraces new tech ahead of much of the rest of the world – we just have to look at the ubiquitous usage of QR codes and live-streaming – yet cryptocurrencies have been in a regulatory quagmire in China. But this now seems to be changing.
It is shifting toward digital currencies and blockchain, the technology on which crypto runs. In March, they were mentioned in a draft of China’s national Five-Year Plan, the first time the groundbreaking tech has appeared in any official documentation.
In April, shortly after China launched its own digital currency, the digital yuan, the National Development and Reform Commission told a news conference, “China will find its own way for NFTs to grow, and policies and regulations will follow.”
Fourth, NFTs are positively changing business models, especially in the creative industries, which are growing in economic, cultural and social importance across Asia.
Artists , musicians , film for example can provide enhanced virtual experiences for collectors and buyers, they can prove their works are not counterfeited, and they can include criteria to get royalties every time their works are resold in the future.
While NFTs are the hottest new digital asset class, I would still urge investors to exercise extreme caution. This market is still very young. But there’s no denying it is likely to explode in Asia.

Chinese movie stars, directors, singers, pop stars and celebrities are turning to non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which can be stored on a digital ledger, to better engage with their fans and to tap new ways of making money. This month some of the biggest names in Hong Kong’s entertainment world – including Wong Kar-wai, Gigi Yim and Hins Cheung – unveiled respective NFT projects, in a sign that these once-niche digital tokens might be on their way to wider acceptance. NFTs generally refer to units of data stored on a blockchain that guarantees each digital asset is unique, immutable and secure. Because NFT-based digital items are authenticated via a decentralised blockchain technology, they can be owned much like physical items, a property which makes NFTs valuable when it comes to trading collectibles and memorabilia. On October 6 iconic film director Wong Kar-wai sold an NFT based on behind-the-scenes footage from his movie In the Mood For Love, fetching HK$4.3 million (US$553,000) via a Sotheby’s auction.

Days later, emerging Hong Kong singer Gigi Yim – groomed for fame by broadcaster TVB after winning the network’s marquee singing contest – announced that her first music video will be turned into an NFT, which fans can own. The music video-based NFT is now worth more than HK$4,095 (US$526) apiece. Yim said the proceeds of the NFT sales will go towards charity.
And veteran singer Hins Cheung joined the NFT frenzy this week as he unveiled his latest concert on Tuesday. Cheung has recorded a mystery video in the lead-up to the December concert, and an NFT related to the video will be auctioned at a starting price of HK$100,000 (US$12,860). Cheung also said proceeds from NFT sales will go towards charity.

Hong Kong has emerged as a popular destination for NFT launches by Chinese celebrities, as regulators in mainland China remain wary of blockchain-enabled digital tokens, which have attracted the attention of speculators. That said, several mainland-based celebrities, such as singers A Duo and Gao Jiafeng, have joined the trend and issued NFTs.
“The digitalisation of music has greatly diminished the level of revenue artists can derive from album sales,” said Ron Yu, director at Makebell Ltd and a lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. “NFTs offer fans something to spend their money on and own in this digital age, and this can be a great additional source of revenue [for artists] and maybe they’re also taking on early punt on the metaverse.” The metaverse is an always-on virtual world where people create, interact and pay for things they want. Many see it as the future of the internet.
Big Tech companies such as Alibaba Group Holding and Tencent Holdings have also experimented with NFT sales. In August, e-commerce giant Alibaba, which owns the South China Morning Post, opened a new online market for digital assets traded over a blockchain backed by the Sichuan provincial government. In July, Tencent launched an NFT trading platform called Huanhe, where it put up for sale 300 NFTs related to audio clips from the talk show Shisanyao.
While the issuance and collecting of NFTs first started as a niche hobby among hardcore cryptocurrency fans, excitement around tokens reached a fever pitch this year when American artist Beeple auctioned a digital collage of his art at Christie’s for US$69 million in March. That same month, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey sold his first tweet for over US$2.9 million. Hong Kong is a premier centre for art auctions and Shawn Yue Man-lok, a Hong Kong movie star who starred in Infernal Affairs II, shocked the city in September when he sold his collections of 14 NFTs. They comprised popular art pieces such as CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club and fetched about HK$120 million (US$15.4 million) at an auction organised by Christie’s, marking a new Asia record. Yue said part of the proceeds will go towards charity.

"Stay focussed".. NFT MOVIE STREAMING IS THE NEXT FRONTIER By Film Threat Staff | October 25, 2021
SHARE
Since a few decades the film and entertainment sector have undergone some drastic transformation. The first ever format to bring movies in the household was VHS. Not so long before VHS, TV was the source of entertainment. With the passage of time a new format with greater HD quality, audiovisuals and sound took over. This DVD format made great progress as it had additional content such as interviews, bloopers, documentaries and many more things.
The demand for broadband was rising as the speed of streaming upgraded, the apple company took the chance and introduced digital media sales of movies in the market. This marked the end of the era of DVD and rise of Streaming. So now people have Netflix, Hulu and other streaming sources to enjoy movies and TV shows of all time. Because of the pandemic, many movies came to surface via streaming which left the movie theaters in a very difficult situation, supporting Streaming.
The introduction of one-size-fits-all subscription models put a complete end to all the DVD products. Here is where the NFT came on the screen. All the collectible movies and TV shows can be brought back with the opportunity given by NFT. When the NFT hype from the early 2021 began, many sectors examined the opportunities to value the digital art NFTs.
“Silhouettes’, the film featuring for NFT tickets
Now the movie industry has switched to selling the movie tickets in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) at Liquid Network. This is where the history of the movie industry changed. The movie silhouette, a superb science fiction, written by Matt Hartley has a story of an astronaut Katherine Barnes.
In this film she is in the middle of an inspection done on routine about the orbiting space station of the earth. During her routine, she is taken on a tour of the universe by a space inhabitant. Versatile actors such as Dick Terhune, who also worked on “Transformers: Cyberverse”, and Helen Day who starred in the “Toruk: The First Flight” are the cast of the story.
This movie initiated NFTs. The purchase of tickets is provided on the official site, which is in collaboration with Pixelmatic. Pixelmatic is a part of the global market founded in 2011, that directs and develops video games, their teams placed in China, France and Canada, and is driven by a team of gaming industry professionals from Ubisoft, Activision Blizzard and Relic.
Giant streaming companies like Netflix have already planned to launch games on the platform, which combined with the blockchain technology can be HUGE! I mean, players would be able to get their hands on popular games, instead of buying virtual items in OSRS, they would be able to buy NFTs which can be sold for massive profits. Games like Fortnite accounts and even FFXIV accounts can explode after this.
Now with each ticket of this movie an exclusive accessory to the streaming is provided to the buyer with a unique ticket number issued by an NFT…This innovative process has already come to market. Moreover these tickets can be handy using another crypto currency like bitcoin, litecoin and liquid bitcoin. Now payments are done with lightning networks as they are highly acceptable because of the low cost micro-transaction.
Is Movie Streaming the Next Target?
Yes, the movie streaming is definitely the next step to the NFTs. So, People think of NFTS as a digital asset that is very expensive and is going to make a lot of money, in the future making them rich as it is similar to crypto currency.
Thus NFT persuades the people to own an asset or any piece of art. Recently the tiger woods sold NFTS of digital autograph collectibles. These have become so popular the TIME magazine’s 4500 pieces were out in just one minute on its release date. In short we are offered a digital asset of any piece of art with the authenticity of a blockchain-created certificate. If you are thinking of buying an NFT, it is affordable but as the bidding war goes on it can be much more worth of a token.

East and South East Asia (SEA) therefore seem to be hot spots for the blockchain. Gaurang Torvekar, CEO and co-founder of Indorse, picks out the majority of SEA blockchain startups as being located in Singapore, where he is sometimes based, followed by Indonesia and Malaysia.
“The Singapore regulator, MAS, has been at the forefront of innovation, having finished five phases of Project Ubin, which used blockchain technology for inter-bank settlements, amongst other things,” says Torvekar.
“[The Singaporean government] itself has been heavily promoting and supporting the development of technical talent, incentivising deep-tech startups, universities, polytechnic schools and other ecosystem partners to train and upskill their citizens.
“The government also has sensible regulations which don’t stifle innovation, while at the same time safeguard its citizens.”
This is a different picture from what Torvekar sees in his other base of the UK, which he says is “not as favoured amongst nascent blockchain startups because of the relatively cautious attitude by banks towards these companies.
“Historically, it has been difficult to even open a bank account for a startup that has got to do anything with cryptocurrencies.”
Capitalising on this is somewhere famous for being a regulatory haven like Singapore, and perhaps a little less known for digital innovation and smart urban living.
