I often agreed with the points you made concerning the negativity surrounding this stock and that the "targets" you spoke of had a good chance of being met.
However, it seems as if you are now posting simply to get attention. Very few people seem to want to take your advice and nobody's really interested in hearing how you've made amazing calls.
Why not spell out your strategy for GTE clearly and then remain quiet for awhile. Pursue other, more potentially lucrative stocks or read a good book. If you are so fixated on GTE, maybe get more involved in the lawsuit you've joined.
Just suggestions.
Don
Assuming that GTE ends 2006 having failed to meet most of their April "goals", most importantly the last one about the sp, do people still feel Huff should step down?
If so, what qualities would you like to see in a new CEO?
Just for discussion...
Don
I noticed that yesterday as well. Really annoying. I'm also now thinking about changing brokers. Anybody have some good recommendations?
Don
And if you want another laugh, re-read Dumas letter to shareholders!

Don
While the SEC investigation is the last thing I wanted to hear, if it is primarily about "the treatment of certain acquisitions and the valuation of certain intangible assets" as mentioned in the PR, then I am not too worried. It's not like they have been hoodwinking us on sales numbers and the like.
However, I do worry what effect this will have on GTE acquiring and finalizing business deals. Many firms, both foreign and domestic, may think twice when hearing about the SEC.
Don
Please look at this post by Rocky of Huff's clarification of "operational".

Don
I doubt GTE would fail to PR such a thing.
Don
On a further look at the PR's about the Heilbonn network, it looks like it may not be "operational" and thus not meeting the target date.

CEO responses in bold to each segment of your questions.
quote from Dumas 3/31 SH letter: "Our remarkable wireless solution is currently being installed in Mexico, Malaysia, China and Germany, in significant municipal areas that will eventually average 400 to 600 square kilometers"
"Yes all these areas are in various stages of network buildout."
quote from 4/10 Performance Objectives for 2006: "GlobeTel Wireless, GlobeTel's Wireless WiMax Division, will have at least one metropolitan network installed and operational (by 9/30/06)"
"Yes this is the goal for GlobeTel Wireless, which I believe will be met well before that date."
Seems strange that 4 installations-in-progress @ 3/31 would yield a performance objective of "at least one installed and operational by 9/30." What is required to get from "installed" to "operational?"
"Operational means that the network is installed and that it has customers working on it."
Don
Well now that 30 September 2006 has passed, we can take a preliminary look at the two performance targets that were to be reached by this time:
-Magic Money EBITDA profitable
-1 metro network installed and operational
How did they do? It appears that they missed the first target. Magic Money has yet to launch in India and it seems the Fidelity Express deal is just getting out of the testing phase. So that covers the two revenue streams that I am aware of.
The second target seems to have been achieved with the recently announced installation of Heilbonn. Of course they still say it will be a further 2 months for it to be "fully accessible". If it reaches that point before the end of the year, I'll be happy.
So that leaves us with the two final targets:
-GTE being EBIDTA positive (31 October)
-GTE SP significantly higher (31 December)
I highly doubt GTE will meet the first of these goals. If they meet it before year's end it will be a great achievement.
The second goal is anyone's guess.
All IMHO.
Don
Personally, they do not sound like the experienced team that would be marketing such a huge technology like the strat. I will feel much better when GTE starts to partner with more top-tier companies and individuals. All IMHO.
Don
Does this sound familiar? Think BONY error...

Don
Personally, I feel that Searfoss is no longer an active part of Sanswire. I don't have any specific information to support this, but seeing that he's a public figure, the absence of public appearances by him is telling.
Of course he could be working behind the scenes, but I believe one of his strengths he brought to Sanswire was his public personality and the credibility he would give to the company.

Don
I would bet that is what it is referring to.
Don
Apart from generating rev's, having a city-wide network online will be an amazing marketing tool-
--No more doubts (for potential customers) about whether GTE can actually build out a network if contracted to.
--A perfect demonstrator
--Showcase the integration of DECT capability and VOIP offering
Now let's get some $$$ rolling in so that GTE can build out these networks quicker!
Don
From PR-
"Once the network is fully accessible, customers who subscribe to both the broadband and voice service will be able to access their account, surf the Web or place a voice call within any part of the city and to anywhere in the world, at low cost, over GlobeTel's VoIP network."
Just an IPTV away from triple play! And think of how much cheaper the infrastructure is for GTE to establish compared to cable/wireless?
Lowtrade called this one re: funding and then positive PR's!
Don
Fidelity Express' sales meeting is at the end of the month and that is where they are supposed to roll out the transfer service (involving GTE) to their outlets. Hopefully we'll get some update PR's when that happens. Of course, the way the GTE PR machine is grounded, maybe we won't and we'll just have to wait for the quarterly financials?
Don
It seems as if the extremes on both ends have taken control of this board, IMO.
I believe that this new funding deal is not 100% good or bad. Obviously it results in dilution, and having to do this when the sp is at such a low point means that the dilution is greater than if the sp was higher. That is simple mathematics.
As people like mide and rocky (and others) have pointed out, as long as GTE is not producing rev's to cover and exceed their expenditures, there will be a need for funding. So a funding deal, in and of itself, is a necessity for a company in GTE's position.
I am not happy that we are getting less bang for our buck due to the low sp. And I attribute the low sp in part to GTE and it's failed deadlines and missteps in communication. Magic Money was promised to us (on time) as recently as the SHM. Testing of S2 has been delayed several times and now we are even unsure whether we will get a small update as to whether the testing has commenced.
As for me, I am "hopeful" that GTE will pull everything off as they said they would. Six months ago, I was "confident".
Don
91k on the ask at .60? Is another Friday close shaping up?
Don
Nice find, pokestake.
It looks like it could affect FSS plan to roll out their own ATM's and thereby also affect GTE through their involvement with them.
However, as per the Nov. 2005 PR ( http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0EIN/is_2005_Nov_9/ai_n15786374 ) FSS also provides services to Indian banks. So since these ATM's are operated by banks, they should not be affected and thus I would think GTE and FSS would still be able to go ahead with the "launch".
Again thanks for the find. It's good to read something useful amongst all the bickering!
AMHO.
Don
Isn't internet-based journalism supposed to be more timely than more traditional forms? So what took this guy so long to report about Russia? A little late to the bashing party, don't you think?
And he's really put alot of work into this "article" (sarcasm) seeing as it generously mentions MF throughout. Is that considered a "hard" source? A glorified blog?
All in all, just a bad attempt at journalism. I hope Mr. Goldman has some other things on the side apart from this stint as an amateur financial reporter.
All IMHO.
Don
Wow. Seth talks so much about Globetel that he doesn't even need to place the ticker symbol (AMEX:GTE) next to the name when he mentions it!
Don
ineedtoknow - I am interested because I am always looking for reliable sources of information concerning my investment in GTE. Also they are the only two on this board (that I know of) who had this information prior to the airing and haven't provided a link (assuming their info came from a website) which is normally done when someone discovers something relevant to GTE.
And, no I am not worried that Seth did not get the scoop first. Did you really think I would be?
Don
Danielle and mide- Alot of us are wondering how you two knew of the CNBC segment beforehand. I'd appreciate it if you could reveal the source(s) you got this information from.
Of course this is only a request and you may keep the source(s) to yourselves if you so wish. Thanks.
Don
I also bought some shares today but at a higher price: .58. I did so once mide confirmed that the piece was to be on CNBC.
Let's hope successful testing leads to official interest by a defense contractor, i.e. Raytheon!
Don
Glad to see you back, mr_schnizzle! I really valued (and still value) your posts especially pertaining to the technical aspects of things. I hope you chip in every-once-in-a-while when you have something to say.
Don
Don't know what's wrong with my computer but all I get is a blank box with that symbol in the upper left-hand corner which (I think) means it's not loading on the page.
Don
Can someone give a play-by-play of anything of importance? I'm CNBC-less.
Thanks.
Don
I wonder if the market in Ghana is big enough for two or more Wimax operators?
GTE really has to get Hotzone out there! The gold rush is on and so far they have nothing in their pan.
Don
That pretty much sums up my (deflated) expectations.
And not to beat on a dead horse, but what's the deal with the India launch?! I don't have much of a problem forgiving the delays in the Strat and Hotzone stuff, but the "oops!" in Centerline and this delay in India really make me wonder at the competency of GTE management to successfully close international deals and to handle all the varied businesses they're pursuing.
IMHO.
Don
That was from earlier in the year. eom
Don
I sent my question to rbleckman@... over a month ago.
Don
Although I am a simple shareholder, I did send an email to Mr. Bleckman asking him if the India launch would be PR'd just as the VozBrasil and iLigue launch were.
That was a few weeks ago and I have yet to receive a reply.
FWIW.
Don
Agreed.
I put alot of faith in the India launch forecast of July. It borders on inexcusable that they put that "deadline" out there quite recently and failed.
If the summer ends without a Hotzone contract, that will also be a huge dissapointment.
Don
All his posts deleted today? Still see some...
Don
Wasn't this topic raised by Seth or Byron in one of their "articles"?
Don
I think any potential lawsuit is at the company's discretion and not something that the shareholders should fund and/or spearhead.
Don
Gotcha. So you're saying that the specific charges were included in that letter. These specifics were obviously not detailed in the NR.
The additional non-compliance issues were also included in that letter. Those were detailed in the NR.
Is that right?
Don
I can't imagine that the AMEX wouldn't cite very specific examples to GTE in regards to it's concerns which prompted the de-listing process?
As an example:
"(ii) failure to comply with Securities and Exchange Commission reporting obligations by filing incomplete, misleading and/or inaccurate information in its public filings;"
Maybe I'm naive, but I would think they would specify the filing in question? Of course I wouldn't expect these specifics to be released to the public.
Don
I believe several people verified it, design333.
But I don't understand what Mr. Koenig's point is concerning S2 being significantly smaller than S1? Was he led to believe that S2 would be the same size?
Don
