and we were thrown this little kibble for us to chew on:
"we will provide unclassified pictures and data to our shareholders as that information becomes available."
gee thanks only been waiting a year and a half for that already....
something doesn't jibe
THIS:
"As a result of these unexpected component failures, these parts are being re-manufactured by the supplier and those replacements are due to arrive in Palmdale around the last week of July and mid-August."
AND THIS:
"The delay is now down to a few weeks, not a few months, and once the tests have begun, we will provide unclassified pictures and data to our shareholders as that information becomes available."
getting the parts is one thing but then assembly is another.
So now what does our timeline look like?
Also interesting the statement that "the delay" is now only weeks not months sounds to me like they knew about the length of the delay at the time of the shareholder meeting. jmo
Help pls.
I'm confused. Were we not already told of this delay in the shm meeting?
I'm not sure why this is news?
Why THIS "NR" and why NOW?
Am I wrong here?
Curiously, I was not notified by email either as in the past "NR's".

p944na,
Speculating here as I have absolutely no experience or knowledge other than what I am gleening from the outdated FAA site.
If as "vern" suggested, they are modifying the ship to meet specs and standards as a work around, I think there would be some uniformity with other airships. I also assume they would use an experienced airship pilot.
How to get trained and licensed:

crash,
Excellent points (6 and 7 especially). Only variable I am unsure of is the buying power for longs. The sp is at relative historical lows and most longs with any room in the portfolio should have added by now or are still trying to get some $$ to do so. No reason to wait here that I can think of. The support could come from new money but if price is going lower chances are nothing coming from company to attract new retail. Specialists, Day traders and Institutional is another matter.
"6. When a sp declined by a significant amount, the buying power/share significantly increases for the longs. i.e. I can buy 3-4 shares now where I could buy only one share in January for the same amount of money. That has the same effect as shrinking the OS by the same amount! This makes shorting more and more unattractive, since the shorter won't be able to obtain that many shares for shorting (legally anyways)
7. The risk to reward ratio has gone up significantly to short more shares. Case in point:
When they shorted at $4 the likely gain is $3 (pps goes to 1$). The risk was stock goes to $8 (loose everything). This could have only happened if the russian deal went thru and usually there would be chances to cover.
On the other hand short at $1 hopimg for $.50 for a gain of $.50 (but remember buying power doubles again for longs). Risk is pps goes to $2 (loose everything). This can happen very fast and without any news, since $2 is still below (many longs) perceived fair value of company."
not even 40 yet....must be the college days catching up with me. Yes, I meant the symetrical. Sorry rtb I did not click the link. :( It's only touching on two points though, the .75 and current. Still, the other indicators are still looking excellent for an uptrend. Maybe the bottom of the cup that msmag has been talking about.
Descending or Ascending?
Looks like lowtrade was trying to show something like a descending triangle continuation based on close price only? Taking your suggestion into account (the .75 reaction/error intraday low) you get something close to an ascending triangle. Support still valid.
bears,
Something I have asked as well. No response so far from SHM attendees here or from Rob. Hoping to get something in an updated Sanswire website or FAQ.

"Along the same lines, I was wondering if anyone at the shm saw and/or spoke with Rick Searfoss? I'm hoping he's been active behind the scenes doing some high level networking and presenting because has been keeping a rather low "public" profile hasn't he? Anyone know if he has been speaking at any conferences, symposiums etc.?"
"With his extensive background as a noted professional speaker to corporations and associations on leadership, teamwork, and innovation, Rick will also serve as public spokesman for Sanswire. GlobeTel CEO, Mr. Timothy Huff, noted “Rick's extensive career in aviation, space, and leading-edge technology, linked with his skills as a professional speaker, made him a perfect addition to our Sanswire team. We look forward to his technical inputs, perspective, and representation to the public of our exciting and world-changing new capabilities.“

Probably for the same reason LM was able to sell F-16's to Pakistan (the same Pakistan that violated the non-proliferation treaty and gave away nuclear tech to Iran, Libya and North Korea) just the other day under the guise of war on terror....Politics.
Also the original RFP was done in Jan. 04'.
http://www.fbo.gov/spg/ODA/MDA/WASHDC1/HQ0006%2D04%2DMDA%2DBAA/listing.html
I don't realistically think we would have been in a position at that time to challenge the LM proposal.
I'm with you about getting ANY DOD/DHS etc. contracts. I have been chomping at the bit to see us get our hands in that DEEP govt. budget.
We need to establish some credibility that we can meet their expectations. The quality and experience of the people hired into sanswire is doing that IMO.
We need to get into the major projects like SBInet. I too would love to see the strat used in the mda project. It's not to late, all we need is our foot in the door....

fyi, it isn't a nasa program.

I like the ChiOsc indicator right now and Accum-Dist confirming. Volume below avg. for almost 2 months, could be consolidating?
Great point rattle. It's the HotZone tech that currently differentiates us until the SuperHub becomes a reality.
Also, we aren't the only ones selling the dect technology. Just did a quick google search on this so I do not know how Motorola's product compares and how they are utilizing, marketing it.

straightup,
It appears if motorola is involved in some way with the intel/clearwire deal then they might have some voip capabilities. Motorola also sells some sort of voip adapter for vonage. Maybe there is another partner we have not heard about yet?

Help me out Frank, I want to believe we will get a push here.
Why do you think today's AH activity on quotemedia is different than what you were telling us about here?:
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=11164392
BigCharts shows AH volume as 187,000 but the daily volume is much more than the previous 2 wks so that may be the difference. TIA and everyone have a fun and safe weekend.
http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/quickchart/quickchart.asp?symb=gte&sid=0&o_symb=gte&x=0....
I am not saying you are incorrect and I do understand your logic frank (the market is what the market is). I just don't think it's an accurate assessment of the market if there was an ERROR, and of that magnitude. IMO because of the amount of shares sold at one time, the specialist was unable to maintain an orderly market and that invalidates it for me.
So the reaction would still be valid if price went to .25 or even 0 because of the error? Say instead of 500k 3 times it was 5mil 3 times.
Frank,
I agree with you about reactions being valid. Except in this case. LOL The way I read Rule 115 of AMEX Constitution and Rules....IMO our "specialist" should have notified AMEX to halt trading that day.
PART II—Rules Principally Applicable to Floor Transactions
Section 1. General and Floor Rules
Rule 115 Exchange Procedures for Use of Unusual Market Exception
1(a)"...he is temporarily required to assume responsibility for an unusually large number of securities assigned to his specialist unit."

J563_NYY,
Interesting article you posted a few months ago. More fuel to the fire that Verizon is one of GTE's active enemies?
http://www22.verizon.com/about/community/learningcenter/articles/displayarticle1/0,4065,1158z2,00.ht...
GoFetch,
I don't think this company nor the spanish one I posted about earlier will succeed on a large scale long term. However, it's not always the best product that wins out.
Huff looking less like a "paranoid" to be first to market to me now.
great point swami.
CODB will be different in each country. There are huge benefits to entering the "emerging markets" but also risks not inherent to doing business in the good ol' usofa.
stratoguy,
You are not asking anything that many others aren't asking as well. Updates on Brazil Voip and sales and marketing staffing were in the questions we submitted.
As mide just posted, we will soon see an updated FAQ with answers to as many of our questions as possible.
Would have been VERY easy for them to move on and brush those questions under the rug while over time everyone just forgot.
Due to the efforts that all of you posters put into it and the verification of Rob that they were to be answered as best they could, I have been stewing about my dissapointment that they were not at least individually addressed in some form, whether they could legally answer them or not.
Cheers to mide for excellent follow up, and most important, follow through.
My hat is off to you sir. Thank you.
PNizzle,
I was under the impression from posters who attended that the delayed version on the website was complete.
If GTE were able to legally edit "...the long gap during the tabulation process", why would it even matter then, whether it was done live or memorex because the live webcast could have been started after the proxy voting.
It's all water under the bridge now. I'm just curious due to the other contrasting "From Rob" posts concerning this. TIA
comments?
"A Spanish firm, Fon, will sell $5 subsidised routers wi-fi routers as part of a plan to turn domestic wi-fi networks into public hotspots."
"With the financial backing of Google and Skype, their goal is to create Wi-Fi networks, street by street, across Europe and the US."
"The company is hoping to create a "social movement" as well as a business."

With Verizon's blatant corporate warfare attack on Vonage, (IMO not only with the lawsuit but I think they are probably behind the huge shorting occuring there)
and after reading this again:
"And, of course, our system completely eliminates the “last mile problem”— a problem which has caused incumbent telecom companies around the developed world to pour literally billions of dollars into the ground in the pursuit of customers connected via fiber-optics or “conditioned” copper-pairs. This hugely expensive “trenching strategy” will be a thing of the past if we have anything to say about it."
it makes me wonder....
BTW Verizon just tore up my beautiful grass in the backyard so I could have fiber. I just want my dsl to work when it rains?
doctorS,
I was going to answer your question and when I was pulling info I went in another direction, sorry.
Thanks for the focus Mide.
More from Dumas letter to shareholders:
“At the moment, GlobeTel Wireless is our leading contender for near term profitability on a significant scale.”
IMO Sanswire is the SEX in our long term marketing plan:
“…will produce what we believe will be the single greatest revolution in communications technology in the history of the world.”
A crude attempt at an analogy: Microsoft Word was for Windows as Globetel Wireless will be to Sanswire's Stratellite Super Hub
And the REALITY as you pointed out:
“While the successful, commercial deployment of the Stratellite will surely add a large measure of synergy and “market reach” to the GlobeTel strategy (allowing us to communicate wirelessly with literally every human being on the face of the earth), it does not define GlobeTel. It is simply the final brush stroke on the canvas which will bring our other four digital businesses— which in at least two cases (GlobeTel Wireless and Magic Money) have the capability to become multi-billion dollar companies in their own rights— under a single, integrated umbrella to form a worldwide Super Hub.”
nil,
I know we are really just playing the speculation game here but there IS a connection with General Atomics. Eric Heininger worked on General Atomic's RQ-1 Predator Unmanned Air Vehicle.
"a $21,094,500 modification to a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract"
Did you find the original contract? 5% of 21mil is only about 1 mil but the full contract may be larger.
gte_gold,
Thanks for verifying that question for me.
Not very interesting reading for most but if anyone wants to peruse, here it is:
SBInet Solicitation
http://www.fbo.gov/spg/DHS/USCS/PDDC20229/HSBP1006R0463/Attachments.html
gte_gold,
Since the proposals are already in, you may well be right about this:
"It just seems high risk to include the strat as part of a proposal to Homeland Security until an airship actually makes it to high altitude."
an excerpt from here:
http://www.washingtontechnology.com/news/21_11/cover-stories/28712-1.html
“If you’re trying to do this with existing technologies, as DHS is trying to do, you’re kind of stuck with what is available, and so are all the players,” Slye said.
I'm hoping Raytheon would see it as a way to differentiate their proposal from the others, or at least a later addition once the strat testing is complete and successful.
I don't know what timeframe the govt. is looking to have it implemented by, do you?
Two good VOIP articles

Raytheon/Brazil
"As the prime contractor, Raytheon would uniquely bring direct, large-scale border management expertise to the Secure Border Initiative net (SBInet) program. In addition to its experience from leading the System for Vigilance of the Amazon program (SIVAM), which is comparable in scope and complexity to the SBInet, Raytheon has led border protection efforts in the Ukraine and Middle East and is leading a similar effort to secure the borders of New York City's four major airports."
more on SIVAM here:
http://web.mit.edu/12.000/www/m2006/kvh/sivam.html
gte_gold, I appreciate your "fresh eyes" viewpoint as well.
"At this time, I have no reason to believe in any Raytheon GTE relationship...other than Raytheon will be watching the progress of Sanswire Strat project."
However, I don't think it's out of the question that they would be more than watching our progress at this point.
"Through the Secure Border Initiative, known as SBInet, the Homeland Security Department is seeking bids to secure U.S. borders. Five companies — Boeing, Ericsson, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon — are expected to submit proposals, which are due May 30. DHS officials want to award a three-year performance-based contract by Sept. 30."
Yes, it's speculation on our part and no, we have nothing formal from gte but even I can see the potential here....
IMO If we DON"T have a connection to this, as far ahead of the competition as we are, I will be extremely dissapointed.
I am thinking also that were they there together, any NDA would have to have been signed BEFORE Raytheon showed up at the event and commented on Sanswire. This is why it confuses me as to why GTE can't comment.
This scenario seems more likely to me: Raytheon reps were just AT the event and checking out GTE. The NDA was signed afterward (My hope is they would like to include the strat in their SBInet proposal)
Although that scenario makes more sense to me and ultimately is great for gte, still dissapointing that Raytheon only took notice this year in April if thats the case.
Tojaam,
"Raytheon was indeed at the Brussels conference and was backing Sanswire. What backing means here is unclear; logistical support perhaps, market assessment, and maybe some entrees into the DoD offices."
IMO the reporter assumes alot here and then literally "backs" off. But where there is smoke there is fire. There must have been Raytheon representatives in the same "booth", table or sharing space in some way that lead the reporter to believe there was some support or cooperation there.
Something has to be brewing. Raytheon had no problem commenting on sanswire, even showing up at a conference with them. But all we get from GTE is "can't comment b/c of NDA" and "read the article again and again". FRUSTRATING....
