That's what I was just commenting on. Is it a re-release, a new one, or did the emailing of it just kick in? I don't recall if I got this PR in my inbox or not now that I think of it...
OT: DK, saw some show yesterday that showed how easy it was to use some new reflective white paint on a wall instead of a screen. Looked pretty cool. About $100 for enough to cover 100" of wall space. It has little reflective speckles in the paint.
To be fair DK, we have no idea what the 'deal' with Here! is (yes, content withstanding) and what any future deal with Q would be. I still have a strong feeling they would not be the same at all. Someone posted on here earlier today some sort of PR about Here! having original shows as late as October 2005. That's a LONG way away. Until then, they are a jukebox. Requirements and agreements for a jukebox is far different than requirements and agreements for a live network.
Watch the Apple keynote speach (apple.com click on hot news link at top) and hear Steve Jobs talk about how 2005 is the HD year for editing. Bill Gates also touched on HD with his Windows media center software in his keynote speach the week before.
end2war, to be fair, equally as blind are those who see what they want to see, rather than what is.
Skunks, HD broadcast means you would need at the least an HD television (or HD receiver and HD monitor) in order to view the higher quality. Go down to your local audio/video store and I'm sure they will have HD tv's to look at. Compared to regular NTSC television broadcasts (525 horizontal lines of resolution), HD is absolutely stunning to watch. I'd LOVE to have an HD setup. Soon....
Here's a little HD blurb...
HDTV is an incredibly life-like broadcasting format that approaches the quality of film. For comparison, an analog television displaying DVD program material can achieve a maximum vertical resolution of just over 500 lines. A laserdisc can produce around 400 lines of resolution as can satellite reception. Analog broadcast television results in a resolution around 300 lines and the lowest resolution analog format, VHS tape as played through a typical VCR, generates closer to 200 lines of resolution. Obviously, HDTV has resolutions and resultant picture qualities far superior to those of the NTSC analog television standard. Compared to the analog NTSC television standard, HDTV images (the highest resolution of 1,080 by 1,920) contain about six times the amount of picture information resulting in an incredibly detailed image. Additionally, the digital nature of HDTV eliminates many of the problems encountered with analog televisions such as “snow,” poor color reproduction, color bleeding, etc.
HDTV uses AC-3 encoded sound resulting in the ability to transmit excellent quality surround sound audio in a 5.1 digital format (see 5.1).
The wider aspect ratio of HDTV (16 units wide by 9 units tall versus the more square 4 units wide by 3 units tall used with NTSC analog television programming) allows movies to be presented in their full width, widescreen format. Movies for theater release are filmed in a wide aspect ratio different from that used in analog television sets. In order to fit a movie picture on a “square” television screen, portions of the image are cut off and discarded (pan-and-scan) or the movie is presented in its full width with black bars above and below the image (letterbox). The wider aspect ratio of HDTV will allow movies to be presented as intended without the use of black bars while still retaining their original information. This will also result in “wide” television programming making television shows more like movies.
The primary disadvantages of HDTV (and digital television in general of which HDTV is the highest format) are cost and limited programming availability. For the near future, HDTV is a costly proposition with most HDTV sets (big screens in the 60 inch diagonal measurement area) starting at or above $7,000. Limited programming is related to how many cities receive HDTV broadcasts and when true HDTV playback media will become available. The ten largest television markets will have digital television in November 1998 with 30 additional markets (the next largest ones) receiving broadcasts in November 1999. Consumers will be able to watch DVDs, laserdiscs, VHS tapes and analog television signals on digital television sets, but there is currently no consumer playback medium capable of true HDTV playback. What this means is that there are no DVDs, laserdiscs, or videotapes available to the consumer that can output the extremely high-definition signals of HDTV. Manufacturers are working to design such playback devices, but they will not be available for two years or so.
GREAT picture Irish! LOL
WTF? A PR that quotes a statement from a previous PR that didn't come through? "..announce the host names along with the sponsors late next week." Are they trying to say it will be yet another week??
A delay of a PR that was given a timeframe of 1 week is not the same as if the timeframe was left open. ie. use the word "soon" instead of "by the end of next week"
Don't get me wrong, I am ok with the PR's...but the semantecs of the languaging needs to be tightened up a bit. IMO It's like they are written as someone would speak the information, not how they should be read.
149 more unnamed stations? sigh...
:)
Tradewell: This is not THE PR people were screaming for, it is A PR. The PR people were screaming for would have had the hosts for GMGA listed as per the announcement in the previous PR.
IMO Saying they WILL release specific information within a week and then to release a PR without that information is what's gotten under people's skins this morning. Whereas this PR has some good news (well, at least the first 1/2 of that news) it is not the news we were promised.
Seems to me you can't say the glass is 1/2 full or 1/2 empty until you know how big the glass is. I haven't read anyone saying that the news of new carriage is a lie, but that they simply want to know WHO the new carrier is. The, "I've got a secret. I've got a secret" approach doesn't make sense to me either, but I'm not a business man who's trying to startup a television network. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see a PR that says, "Q Television announces they will release another PR soon"
I am not privy to what the overall bigger picture is with Q, so I can't decypher what the reason for this PR was. I will sit quietly and wait for it to unfold. New coverage, HD broadcasting... all good. What station and when would have been better.
I get the sense that this PR was a filler PR since they didn't announce the hosts yet. "...by the end of next week" is what we've been waiting on, but it didn't happen. Seems like Frank wanted to come out with anything just so a PR was released? For all we know there could be a couple of stations/carriers that have already signed so why not pull one area (but not a name) out of the hat and announce it to keep SOME forward momentum going? Maybe he's waiting to announce all the names of all the carriers in one huge PR? I don't know, but I can understand how the not knowing can be frustrating to some.
I like the three in a row! Fills out the table row nicely.
EXCELLENT! Thanks JC!
Yeah, but we'd all have to be on webcams!
Yes he was. It was in a park bathroom about 2 miles from my house.
Ron2w, can we add this image from the chicago gay olympic games website to the right of the Q logo at the top of the message board page? It's an animated gif ad from Q.

40 is the new 18.
I read "Think and grow rich" by Napoleon Hill and he says that typically, when a man makes it big, makes his mark etc.. it's between the ages of 40 and 60. So, I'm just gettin' started here!
Thanks eom.
Thunder, thanks for all the back story. What's a CC?
OT: Hop, take some time to read this slowly and let it sink in... freeing your heart. Sorry people, don't read on if you don't want to... Since the Happy Hour ran out, I can't private post anymore. :)
Nobody knows why things happen in the universe. We can guess and judge and play the victim and blame etc... or we can be positive, give up control, and say "I don't know." What if you were never meant to be the last chance for hope, as you have proclaimed? What if there was no last chance for hope that existed outside of him? The decision was his and his alone to make. Guilt is simply a judgment against one's self. The only thing you can do is change your view of what you are feeling guilty for. No one can be held responsible for an adult's actions but the one adult. You can continue to blame yourself if you like. But tell me, how's that been working out for you? Do you think your dad would want you to beat yourself up all these years? Or do you think he might want you to be happy?
I hear what you are saying, but it may be that the chance you speak of is not what's haunting you. You are haunting you, and no one can make it stop but you. Let go and let God. The first step is to totally accept where you are at this moment, whether you think it's good or bad...how about the idea that It simply is what is? It might help you relieve the judgment against yourself. Try going back in your mind and talk to the 8 year old hopscotch and let him know that no amount of self blame or self hurting will make someone else feel better, or come back. Let the sadness come up. Don't try to stop it. Instead, try to let it flow through you. Become a conduit for the feelings... cry, whatever...let them out, back into the nothingness from which they came. But do so without the negativity of blaming yourself or anyone else, especially your dad. And don't lose sight that you are exactly where you are supposed to be in this universe, learning what you are supposed to be learning. You are safe and everything you are feeling is perfectly ok.
"A few more weeks and I'll be better..."
Well then, in this moment, try to Imagine yourself a few weeks from now. :) It may make the time go faster.
Namaste
OT: Hop, the funny thing about all of that is that I believe spirits don't have a sex. No man or woman identity (no age and no political beliefs either) . Those are human thing. We are not humans who have a spirit or spiritual experiences. We were spirits before and hopefully will be spirits after the body dies. We are spirits having a human experience.
OT: QBid, thanks for sharing and I admire you for taking the inheritance and trying to better your life (and your family's). What a great thing to do!
OT: Hopscotch, Well if you could change the past, could you remember to get me 20Mil at .0001?? :)
The only thing you can change about the past is your view of it. You totally have dominion over your thoughts and beliefs. If you are hanging on to any anger, the only person it affects is you. Nobody can 'make' you angry. That's a choice you make. Underneath anger is hurt. Underneath hurt is the desire to love and be loved. Get in touch with that level of consciousness and forgive yourself for judging others as judging you.
To forgive yourself for judging others for judging you is an affirmation and does not relieve the judgments within you. If their action is 'A' and your inner belief that says they should or shouldn't have done the action is 'C,' then in between is 'B,' the judgment as a result of your inner belief. Concentrate on B, the judgment against others, and forgive yourself for that. Not for their action which is after all, your perception. Accepting people as they are, not for how you think they are or want them to be or who they were 5 minutes ago is one of the most challenging, but most rewarding things one can hope to accomplish.
Little by little, you will feel the anger subside and compassion take it's place. Just like no one can make you mad, no one can make you feel better. That's totally within your power. excercise it.
OT: Hop, you do have your Dad. You have a piece of anyone you have ever met inside of you. For those you loved, you have that much more of them inside.
Sirsly00: They don't have original programming. they don't need 25% anything because they aren't a television network. They are a jukebox of movies. Video On Demand (VOD) won't play day in and day out for a subscriber because they don't get subscribers. If someone wants to watch something on here!, they have to pay for it. When the show is done, the channel turns off.
OT: I like that, "Prayer doesn't change DNA."
Most prayers are sent outward when in fact they would do better to be sent inward.
I feel ya hopscotch.
I understand you're upset, but by sayin "I can't stand you ppl who xyz" then you are doing the same thing those religious fanatics have done to you and your dad. ie.Group people into a category and then judge them. Not everyone buys a stock because of the company. Some (not sure of the percentage) will simply buy a stock so they can make money. Day traders and swing traders could care less what a company is about or does. All they will do is watch the charts and buy when the charts tell them to buy and sell when it says sell. Out of those people, some may stop by a message board and actually check out what the company is about.
It takes all sorts of personalities and styles and beliefs to be a shareholder. Just like it takes all sorts of religious, sexual, political beliefs to be part of the human race. You are not alone, we are all in this together.
nope. but I heard it from my apartment
(not gay)
i'm from michigan. I live in los Angeles CA now. MUCH warmer... a bit wetter lately, but warmer just the same.
I know I'd hire him for a data entry job.
Behoof, When you delete SmallDaddy's account, doesn't it give you the option to remove all posts by him too?
Zandant: Here! is a juke box of gay movies and other content. Some of the movies may be of an adult nature. Again, proof that it is not the same thing as Q at all.
They might since it's a gay talkshow on a gay channel?
Umm... maybe it was a big elevator?
I hear you and understand what you are saying.
SDaddy: It may become fact that he didn't come through on the PR. As for concluding he didn't keep his word, lied or scammed or whatever you are proposing, we don't know why it wasn't posted. I'm not playin the emperor's new clothes tune hear. I'm saying in order to take your own point to the logical conclusion, we can't conlude anything until we know. So why sweat it at all? Some say it'll still come, some say he lied... neither is right. The only correct answer is we don't have a PR.
maybe the person responsible for posting the PR got sick or stuck in an elevator? Stupid, I know... just sayin a million things could be the reason. I'm not going to jump to "he lied" etc...

CT: If you have a mac with OSX, try ambrosia's Wire Tap program. They have a free 30 day trial. It allows you to record any audio that comes through your mac.
If you have a pc, try using any pc recording program. You'd have to open up the pc's mixer, go up to the menu and find the advanced recording page and select the WAV channel.
Hope this helps.
If it were 'my' band, I'd fire them all and hire some better musicians! (I hope none of them are on this board!)
yes, languaging is a problem when not specifically spelled out. to me, 'end of the week' = Friday, then end of the business week... end of trading for the week.
