yes PT has a lot of cans in the fridge so to speak..... keeping this one cold for a later?
nice article here on fusion-io

this tech important part of V3 appliance and PB had heavy involvement in fusion-io creation.
always good to hammer the point on the talent we have :)

PB believes they can do cloud gaming!
MT @sali_sedcom: @V3Systems ...cloud gaming, can you handle such solution? i mean technically. >I would say yes! We've proven some fun stuff
cantech videos now uploaded on youtube and working on spheres website
sphere3d.com/videos/
ok, good idea, will try!
great find.. I hope your "wondering" can be confirmed... this all appears to be shaping up nicely
you really are connecting the dots here
Intel with this new chip will help expand LTE coverage to all devices, phones, ipads, laptops and desktops.
Ericsson is driving LTE adoption
http://www.ericsson.com/thecompany/press/mediakits/lte/information#ericsson
And Ericsson is the largest MSP service provider in the world
Now Sphere has just announced a collaboration with Ericsson to provide
Private Cloud
Public Cloud
Hybrid Cloud
application/desktop/storage solutions as part of MSP service offerings.... all connected via LTE network
At the AGM, Sphere announced a new credit card size device that has Glassware on it.
If the device contains this Intel chipset as you hypothesize, it will allow all enduser devices to connect to the LTE network, providing and unrivaled virtualization experience for the end user.
And if blueblizzy is correct, it will allow device users to continue to work offline then sync back with the server when back on-line
But not just MSP's, through overland channels, this will help intel/ericsson expand LTE technology to new enterprise customers!!
is that the gist of it ???
I would love the company to release more details on this new device to confirm...
nice post. Hope we get further information released by the company explaining this new device in more detail...
we did get BIG news... Overland and Ericsson/MSP announcement. Ericsson collaboration is HUGE !!.
Thats a lot of work you have put in!! Really appreciate that you are sharing it. It really has focused my attention on the commercial potential here, and why Sphere is nicely placed to help expand MSP services, which as your DD points out, is a huge market and ultra-competitive and hence all players are looking for ways to expand on existing customer bases. Best of all is that we are working with the elephant in the room, Ericsson, that currently commands about 11 billion of this 25 billion market.
Sphere will allow MSP's to offer VDI desktops to customers as well as applications delivered by Glassware. In addition to offering these services through the public cloud, MSP will also be able to sell full private cloud hardware/software solutions (V3/Glassware/Storage) to customers, as well as combining the two as a hybrid cloud solution... all managed by V3's desktop orchestrator.
one of the things that really struck me here is that the services will be provided over 4G (LTE) network. This is from Ericsson's faq, which indicates the capability of the network.
hmmm.. thats a very PERKEResque like post... lol
thanks for that effort Struftepete, it was interesting and learnt a lot reading it.
I wonder how close they are to commercialization here. For those in attendance, was Ericson, Nuvollo etc discussed at AM at all?? TIA
Looking forward to see what else u have dug up
thanks for your additional comments JustFacts.. that was super. Great to hear they see Windows XP legacy apps as a great opportunity and that they have caught the eye of a big fish at Briforum.
Also great to learn they are off to Texas. Enjoyed reading Struftepete's post earlier and you connect the dots as well.
Also liked the tidbit about PB.... and we recently learned he was heavily involved in the very successful Fusion-io, the company that supply part of the technology inside the V3 Appliance
Thanks for the extra comments and observations, much appreciated
fantastic summary silverline....thank you
very exciting to hear they have more opportunity than they can handle
this is very very intriguing!! I guess they kept their cards close to the chest, but it would be great to learn more
timorr if you check out Chris Mellors previous articles, he has been very skeptical. If you check out twitter, Peter reached out to him while at Briforum. Overall, I thought this was a good article with great info.
Check out this excellent interview with Peter Bookman in The Register by Chris Mellor.

For those that are going to the AM, it would be worth asking if Sphere still intends to purchase the IP for Celio technology.
We know this is interesting tech because it allows you to view the contents of your mobile device on a large display screen, such as TV screens.
Now with Glassware, it would be even more interesting, because you could use your smart phone/tablet to access Glassware applications without the constraint of a small display screen.
Its easy to imagine all kinds of scenario's this would be useful.
For example, a hospital physician is viewing a CT scan in the office. He then decides to visit the patient in the ward. Armed with just his mobile phone, he could use it to log into Glassware (the microvisor would have also saved his application session from the office) and show the scan to the patient using the bedside TV or other monitor that is available.
Just another feature that could differentiate Sphere from the competition
TIA
LOL. The scamologist ad hominem attack on PT is mostly guilt by association. Sen. Joseph McCarthy would be proud!
I'm surprised they weren't able to link Peter as a consultant to the unabomber :)
Interesting that they use the pseudonym "J. Alfred Prufrock"
A more appropriate T.S Elliot association could have been "The Hollow Men"
And to quote the famous words from that poem
"This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper."
Likewise, this latest attempt will also end in a whimper.
viking86, I agree 100% with your post and we have already seen signs of an impending short attack appear over the last week.
Its a high probability there will be a concerted attack using the usual psychological techniques.... create doubt about the technology and create false and tenuous connections surrounding key personnel in the company. And of course the evidence will be presented in ways that on first glance appear utterly convincing.
But after the last seeking alpha effort, any temporary dip caused by new efforts will be seized upon by members here. This is a well researched group and a hard nut for shorts to crack, especially when you have someone with Sheldon's resources on the other side of the trade
Like you say.. stay tuned
Thanks JB3729
Super post Struftepete. One of my concerns with Glassware was that I thought it may have been built around open-source software such as Openstack, LXC, QEMU etc, similar to approaches taken by Red Hat and now HP, and that Sphere's microvisor was software developed to orchestrate it all... but that is not the case right? It appears most of the Glassware platform is proprietary?
And devices connecting to the server through remoting protocol only connect to the application, not a whole operating system.. do I understand that correct?
And the Glassware stack does not use virtual machines? But it can deliver the applications to any desktop, virtual or real?
To me one of the most fascinating parts of Glassware is the use of emulators to achieve a cross platform architecture. Its seems John Morelli has spent a good deal of his life working with emulators while working at his fathers CTCell handset business. There would not be a whole lot of people with this experience and know how.
Sage advice Donkschmonk.
Sphere 3D has a nice mouse trap that others don't. When VMware first started virtualizing servers, they had a solution that saved enterprise big $$. They dominated this market before anyone else could catch breath and became a multibillion dollar company in a short period of time. It appears that Sphere offers an equally compelling solution for virtualising applications.
Like you say, with each new deal announced, the risk/reward becomes more compelling as the solution is further validated.
Yes while Stoney Hall works through his rolodex, we also have Lisa Loe over at overland working through her customer list....and Overland has quite a list!!
Lisa was hired last year by Overland due to her success with enterprise BYOD

This article highlights that large demand for Hydrogenics technology may not be too far away.

there are a lot of enterprises that have paid for custom enterprise applications that have been developed for XP. Getting this software redeveloped for later Windows version is VERY expensive, and the reason a lot of companies have procrastinated, or simply cant afford to do it. There is nothing wrong with the applications, just now XP is a security risk. I understand that Glassware can run these programs securely in a sandboxed environment. This would be an attractive solution because not only does the enterprise save on developing expensive new software, they will now have Glasswares virtualization solution that can deliver the legacy applications to ALL devices.
jmo
The VDI virtual desktops need a hypervisor. The applications operated by Glassware on the other hand are session based and don't use a hypervisor. Actually Sphere on a number of occasions have described their administration module that controls the session as a microvisor. Glassware can deliver applications to any desktop, VDI or otherwise. This is a great validation today of what V3/Glassware can bring to the table
Now thats validation!!
Interesting isn't it! Sometimes the facts are so compelling it doesn't matter if they are cryin, yellin or even lyin :)
Last year Sphere announced it became a VMWare partner, and of course V3 delivers VMWare VDI. This article sent my imagination running a little
If VMware releases an RDSH solution, Citrix might not be able to catch back up.
