Nice but rather unconvincing try.
Yes there is selling - but largely for reasons that are not known.
Yes there are risks in getting the new cell to market.
But no SLTD is not a "grossly overvalued solar installer" at least in any reasonable analysis.
Yes quite interesting. Didn't see cost per watt stated though.
FSLR moving to try silicon; in production - whereas we are probably a year away from production. Manufacturing in Malaysia.
Presumably SLTD will want to make similar choices.
100% TRUE
As an Australian and an "adviser" to certain government organizations (uhum, ones that can neither be confirmed or denied) I know the Aussie Govt is keep tabs on HyperSolar.
Wow, all this RS talk is doing my head in.....
NYSE or NASDAQ ?
(hey, my "crazy" post was correct the change of control notification was a trick to make us think NASDAQ !)
Personally I prefer the NYSE - mainly for sentimental reasons; I just remember that oldish guy who used to be on Nightly Business Report and you could tell was so passionate about his work - he was pro the NYSE "big board".
Still, I expect Jim will make the right choice & probably for mainly sound business reasons.
Oh, and ditto the RS - to me the chosen ratio guessing is all just mathematical tricks (not worth worrying about) - Jim & co will make that choice when they feel the time is right.
I fully expect Apple will outbid Google !
Solar 3D – Recent Events
Quick summary of facts:
CEO has control of the company until NASDAQ listing or whenever he feels like giving it up; (control gained via issue of preference shares giving him majority voting rights)
First use of control was to change company incorporation to allow for a reverse split (RS) in the range 15 – 40 / 1 a via board vote
RS could happen up until the end of 2015 (or not at all)
RS form does not rule out NYSE listing
Some Company Risk Factors sourced from the recent S3 form:
“The fragmented market with many small to medium-sized companies is consistent with other markets in which well managed companies have been able to combine a number of similar companies with like-minded management in to a larger and stronger competitor. This is our strategy. We are currently seeking to identify our highest quality competitors and approach them with the potential of proposing that we acquire them. Our ability to execute that strategy is dependent on finding, and financing, the type of company that will complement our existing business and help strengthen organic growth. There is currently little competition in the business of consolidating companies in the solar systems business, but we anticipate that that will change within a short period of time. There is not guarantee that we will find additional companies to acquire.
The market for solar cell technology is highly competitive. There are many companies throughout the world that manufacture solar cell arrays using existing technology and several other companies pursuing new methods to produce more energy efficiency using photovoltaic structures. Additionally, researchers at universities worldwide are currently working on new means to increase photovoltaic efficiency. Many of these competitors have longer operating histories, greater name recognition, larger installed customer bases, and substantially greater financial and marketing resources than we do. Our ability to compete successfully in this field will depend upon our completion of development of our proprietary technique for production of more efficient solar cells and the adoption of our technology by major manufacturers in the field. We cannot assure that we will be able to compete successfully in the solar cell technology industry, or that future competition will not have a material adverse effect on our business, operating results, and financial condition. “
Please try to be a little more polite.
I am pretty certain Moon and others are trying to help you re SLTD & stocks etc.
... and I expect the future ride to be just as wild; maybe even wilder !
GLTA (hey if you make money - so do I...)
Reckon just a pumpers newsletter has "tipped" HYSR.
Thanks mate.
Does that mean you are now re-convinced SLTD is OK as an investment ?
I maintain the line we like /respect dissenting opinions here as long as they are politely expressed.
Of course, problems occur when posters are emotional - whether this be greed, fear or they just plain love Solar3D.
I personally believe there is a good chance for reasonable gains from Solar3d from now onwards and still a smaller chance for quite large gains.
more than just interesting:
remarkably really that this company changed from a tech start-up to a revenue earning solar installer;
great if we get off the OTC and on to NASDAQ or NYSE;
& extraordinary if our solar cell is actually manufactured
I think some of us don't get just how hard getting a solar start-up to production is. For example, do a bit of research and you find the list of failures is quite long.
Don't want to get too off topic here - but there are some very emotional posters here.
Best thing is to try to stay calm - both before you post and before you invest / divest. Also an investor needs to accept responsibility for their own decisions - unless a criminal act has been committed then an investment failure is your own fault and not someone else's.
Recognise SLTD remains a penny stock and is therefore by definition - relatively high risk, i.e. wise to have a plan for dealing with this risk.
Hey - thanks for that.
Some of the guys here do a lot of good work (I refer to the others).
Nice to see a little appreciation.
Nice to see some calm, sound posts as well.
Well actually what you say is also rampant speculation - but in the negative sense...
You see - maybe if he didn't do the deal - there would be no "massive profit" anyway...
Ultimately if you are a long term holder your profits will eventually be based on the companies revenue - in any case.
Time for some more RAMPANT SPECULATION.
What I think has been missed is the RS is a massive distraction.
There are clears signs the RS has been rushed through.
(no pr to explain or soften us up before hand, poorly worded form for the class A shares, grabbing control, NYSE not mentioned in first form but mentioned later in RS notice)
So yes JN has loaded the RS canon with shot and powder - but not lit the fuse.
In other words, I smell a DEAL - and a size-able one...
In the absence of more information - I don't see the stock doing too much.
"Jim is going to do what's best for Solar3D."
Actually, when you think about that - we don't really know that's true.
Technically, Jim has usurped some of our rights as shareholders & so far this is without adequate explanation - IMO.
NB - you got to be cautious our there in the business world !
I kind of agree with you.
One point of correction:
$100 million of revenue was the ambitious goal.
Not my job to "reel it in baby"...
So more rampant speculating.
How do we know that JN and the partner have not already (more or less) stitched up those institutional investors ??
Exactly.
So we are merging with out manufacturing partner and then up-listing on to the NASDAQ ?
That would be my rampant speculation.
So, what does he need shareholder approval for?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delaware_General_Corporation_Law
seems to suggest one of:
- we are being taken over
- the company is being dissolved
- a merger
- or a change to the companies constitution
Hahahah...
True but but what the hell; tis all good fun !
and besides there is obviously more to the filings (implicitly) than just a mention of the Nasdaq...
"So, we should be theorizing what he would want to use that authority for... something that needs shareholder approval."
Indeed, that is precisely my take on the recent filings.
"indicated" ????
seems to be treading the insider information line to me.
OK - I tend to agree with the gist of that post.
In summary makes sense that we should expect a PR fairly soon that provides some explanation of the recent filings.
Well, there are so many crazy posts today I just thought I would throw another one into the mix.
What if the "S3 Effective" notice is just a trick to make someone think we are heading for the Nasdaq when the real plan is to go for the NYSE ?
Others are developing solar technology...
I can name a number of potential competitors - was thinking of posting a list if there is enough interest. Some are reasonably close to production; others still in research & some years away if they ever see the light of day.
In the context of the solar industry I see competition as a good thing - If the Solar3D Cell can't make it - then someone else gets to push the industry forward.
Not just a matter of 'what the 3D cell can do', also a matter of how much is the cost of production. At the moment we have very little info on this subject.
What we can do is speculate production of our cell is likely possible because we know JN is still in discussions with several manufacturers who speculatively have had enough time to do their own due diligence on our solar cell. We can guess this could be so because JN had hoped to identify a partner by Q4 2014.
Very true - this forum is for sharing ideas.
Different opinions are welcome (in my view) - just so long as they are politely expressed.
And I believe you - since I would be one of those "core longs" hoping for cell commercialization.
“State of American Energy Report” – released today by the American Petroleum Institute (API)
Even "The Enemy" is respecting us!
- and so they should.
But to many of us this is preaching to the converted;
tells us that solar is unstoppable;
and IMO solar is no longer a revolution - more an evolution.
(EV's are the revolution.)
Right On !
That's the way to see it - because that's the way it is.
On another front I see (with the benefit of hindsight) some of us have missed that JN's Xmas message was in lieu of the expected news. That is, he told us without saying so directly that we need to be a little more patient on the solar cell.
HNY
Welcome to newcomers in the new year.
Yes it gets a little crazy here at times but the upside is there are interesting discussions to be had & things to learn.
Very glad to see our "international presence" expanding - in part it is our diversity of people & opinions that make us strong.
Please enjoy the Solar3D board.
So 2015 is here for me;
I like the sound of the NYSE - tell me does that board still have the ring of prestige attached to it?
(I know most new techs aim for the NASDAQ)
So what about:
Up-listing AND Manufacturing !
Done right this could be a beautiful move...
Yup, makes sense JN would be having a look, think.
Still don't think acquiring RGSE is a great idea - but I am open to persuasion.
Sun Edison - interesting but unlikely IMO.
Think they already have their own technology path & partners that does not include Solar3D.
Yes, SOL is interesting.
And maybe a merger rather than an acquisition would be the more realistic possibility at this point.
My own feeling on RGSE is that the company is more trouble than its worth.
Indeed, we will.
And, agreed, I would be disappointed if RGSE had not gotten some attention.
Along similar lines I am going to raise the bar (and the stakes) so to speak:
Renesola:
- NYSE listed
- trading at about book value
- interesting assets (!!)
Lots of debt : which is a problem looking for a solution.
Question is, is JN and co that solution ?
OR
JN might have cast his eye over RGSE, thought about it and rejected the idea...
I am going to partially agree.
I find the lack of solar cell related news annoying, frustrating and challenging.
BUT:
I know JN has a plan in his head - just hasn't communicated it to us yet.
We did get the confident Christmas message.
All in all I think the calm, cool and collected response should be to be a little more patient.
Australia has been mentioned !
(and I am from there...)
Really, Tony Abbot is more about supporting existing industries (coal mining etc) than "knocking off" solar. Thing is, voters here like solar & the politicians have been made to know this.
Also, solar in my opinion is already unstoppable (no 2 years to wait...) & therefore if Solar3D is managed well into the future we have excellent prospects.
(Also, as a moderator I have to mention that we all need to watch the discussions re politics don't drift too far off topic or degenerate. Pleased to observe that so far tis all friendly, helpful and adult!)
