i recently read that blackwaters iraq contracts will not be renewed, i do not know exactly how this translates into them exiting iraq, but erik prince was heard complaining recently that he was disappointed that the state dept has not come to blackwaters defense. All this to say that without warrior contractors in iraq the u.s will have to either scale back their middle east intentions to a large degree.
The military is way over extended and the american citizen will not heartily support a draft.
one reason why this administration has been able to pull this off for as long as they have without getting the nation up in arms a la vietnam war era, has been the military contractors role in the war, without which we would have had to reinstituded a draft, which would have awakened the nation and made us all more aware as to why we are there and whether its worth sending our sons and daughters to die there for reasons ill defined.
we attacked iraq because the neocons are doing their patriotic duty by sending our soldiers over to the middle east to clean up the neighborhood...a clean break.
nice backgamon call
dew i know youre supposed to be a great backgamon player but why would you go with those two guys?
now lets talk bullpen......on a night as important as tonight if becket has to come ou,t which i hope he doesnt, the only guys id trust out of that pen are pappelbon and okayema
lol... i gather the team likes him and he gets them to play for him.
is that his nickname in beantown..........go youkkkkkk
neither coco nor lugos hitting got him there...they just happen to be riding the gravy train.
so we got pedroias bat back on track...youkilis is on fire with desire.
why is francona managing like a deer caught in the headlights, coco is hitting next to nothing and lugo cant hit his way out of a wet paper bag with his bat, he has cora and elsbury who couldnt do any worse if they tried.
that is classic overmanaging...these two players are screaming we suck get us out of here we just dont belong playing at this level in the post season.
whos your daddy sabathia? youkilis is papi now.
manny shows up to the ballpark early to take extra bpractice and to lift weights..he said recently that he would give up all of his record stats for a world series.....
dont hate...look at the entire picture.
steinbrenner is the reason why the yankees are successful, he will find the best man for the job and pay him the big american pesos to sit on the bench. the yankees pay for you to play if you cant play then move along, there are plenty of great ballplayers willing to step up and take steinbrenners bigpaychecks.
its the players that win games yankeefans.
overmanaging is the biggest reason for sucky teams in baseball.
the yankees already contacted her, she told him she wouldnt lower her standards by wearing skankee pintripes.....those were her words not mine.
besides she is ill and wants to raise her grandkiddies.
torre wants to go back to hawaii and spend time with his family...the only thing that will deter him is an arod like contract from some hopeful team like tbay.
he wants big american pesos a la arod for his yankee experience and supposed wisdom, while i think that my mother could manage that yankee team as well or better.
thats right ...good observation....im happy just to see nancy drew sittin on the pine, hopefully on splinters. ellsbury is 9 for 26 vs lefties a respectable .346 ba.
ok im convinced, youre just baiting the redsox fans.
its starting to feel like an 8-3 ballgame with becket going seven or so innings...i think elsbury gets in the game tonight, although francona doesnt seem to see that his team needs to be infused with some pizzzzaz. personally id lead off with elsbury and drop pedroia to eight or nineth and maybe that will get his attention off all the pressure he is obviously putting on himself and revive his bat a bit.
the sox deff need to make a few changes tonight somewhere in the lineup..
that is not bushleague...there was no interference there.

Nerf, do we have a consensus here on perceived value by those who are bullish on this stock.
i was caught flatfooted and not fully invested, i will try to fillerup soon.
it seems from the reading of this board that 800 million or so would be my guesstimation of a consensus here.
youre an optimist because of your many years as a yank fan....us redsox fan believe but prepare for the worst.
i grew up about two miles from wrigley field and used to walk down the tracks to the games, when they were out of town we would sneak in the stadium with our bikes and ride up and down the ramps....sneak into the dugouts and out to left field too, but that was in a gentler kinder america.
i went back out to wrigley a few years ago when the bosox went out there to play my national league team.
imagine a lifetime of being a cubs and a redsox fan.
i agree i believe that the scrappy style of ball the indians seem to be capable of playing is more in line with what i see that could tackle the rockies inspired playing.
but alas, i'll cast my lot with the sox.
why do you believe that, the redsox bats are frozen in place, pedroia lugo drew and a few of the table setters are gagging at the plate and the only pitcher who has proven to be worth his salt has been becket and okajima and i think timlin may have also done a decent job, other than that i just dont see any major reason why these guys can turn it on.
from your mouth to Gods ears....if the redsox win it will be at home and in high fashion.
congratulations to the rockie's supporters, they are en fuego.
everyone loves a wiener and lets face it the yankees are the biggest wieners of them all..lol.
watch francona as he gets desperate he will come to his senses and remember that he isnt some mythical manager and reach for a lifesaver...problem is that it will be too late for tonight....the sox just look lackluster and lifeless tonight....while the indians are just whittling away.
drew sucks way more than gagme cause he gets to suck everyday.....francona needs to stop dreaming and forget about it, drew just doesnt deserve to be playing in the postseason other than to bring him in to pinch hit when youve pretty much exhausted all your other choices. and coco crisp the slugger needs to be relegated to bunting his way onbase until he learns how to hit.
i hear that in the old days even mickey mantel would bunt when his team needed it.
elsbury has more than shown himself capable, and francona is outmanaging himself by thinking that he is seasoning the young kid or some other managerial mental masturdbation that has caused him to think that he is being wise in some mystical unreasonable way.
alex rodriguez and jd drew are very comparable in post season play....the both you know what.
the yankees are last century's team. this is the 21st century.
i love wakefield once get gets past the first three or four innings...i can relax and watch him after that.
cleveland played a great game last night, the sox just couldnt shut those bats down. i hate to watch cold weather baseball, these games ought to be played during the day when the sun is shining.
gagme and drew need to be mothballed, i really was thinking that last night drew would step up big last and hit one out...but alas he is still playing down to the lowest of expectations, at least for me.
francona is eating fried green tomatoes by not letting elsbury play and by trusting gagne...gagne just hasnt gained that trust yet...and the playoffs is a bad time to get confidence back.
the redsox are going to make rookies out of rockies.
i hope.
gagne is a big game guy and he isnt intimidated, it just seems that his pitches arent doing what they used to do, either that or he and his catcher are on a different wavelength.
im still hoping that he turns out to be what they were hoping for when they signed him.
i think they tried to not picth to manny and to david ortiz, in hindsight they ought to have gone hard after them and make them perform.
as it was they got into trouble by walking them and the hits manny got off were ground balls if i recall correctly...in hindsight we are all geniuses until our gameplan gets put into the real life game.
personally i would take elsbury and put him at center or right field and see if i can get rid of the overpaid drew in a package deal with one of the many relief pitchers that we have.
elsbury looks pretty ready to me, he couldnt do any worse than drew or coco crisp did this year and they played all year long so there is no excuse not to play the kid...id also keep lowell if possible he seems taylor made at his age for fenway paaaak. but what do i know, and besides cashman seems to be a pretty good chemist.
i found this funny youtube clip.
cause we need to get rid of them...although i recently heard that francona seems to believe that players need that second year in boston before they breakout and shine.
i hope the redsox can package gagne and drew and maybe pick up another starter for next year.
