It is obvious DELL is taking a very aggressive stance in positioning themselves as the leader in Trusted Computing and Security. This shows the efforts of others to be the band-aid

We have some very astute posters with a great deal of expertise represented on this board. You and I have the ability, using the ignore feature, to filter out those who really offer nothing in the way of DD or have the appearance of having some kind of an agenda. Of those 9 that have been banned on this board the majority I had already put on ignore. I implore you to use this filter. It makes reading the board more of a real learning experience. Thank you; to those of you that are tireless in your efforts of presenting quality DD, insight, clarification and education.

Authored by innovators who helped create TPM and implement its leading-edge products, this practical book covers all facets of TPM technology: what it can achieve, how it works, and how to write applications for it. The authors offer deep, real-world insights into both TPM and the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) Software Stack. Then, to demonstrate how TPM can solve many of today's most challenging security problems, they present four start-to-finish case studies, each with extensive C-based code examples.

Wave Unveils SmartSigning Room™, an Extension of eSign Transaction Management Suite at Mortgage Bankers Association Conference
SmartSigning Room Has Been Integrated Into DocuTech’s Mortgage Document Library
LEE, Mass. and BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MBA’s 94th Annual Conference & Exposition – eSign Systems, a division of Wave Systems Corp. (NASDAQ:WAVX), today announced the availability of SmartSigning Room™, an extension of the eSign Transaction Management Suite (eTMS), a software solution that helps enable originators, lenders, document providers, third-party mortgage vendors and other users to create, sign, store, access and manage the lifecycle of legally binding electronic documents. The SmartSigning Room offers users a secure, personal environment to electronically access and legally sign documents online, improving both loan disclosure and modification processes.
Wave also announced that DocuTech, Inc., the Idaho Falls-based provider of compliance services and documentation technology for the mortgage industry, has completed integration of SmartSigning Room with its current library of mortgage documents. DocuTech is now able to generate loan documents and automatically place them within a customer-branded SmartSigning Room online, allowing a borrower or lender to securely review and sign or annotate them.
DEMONSTRATIONS AT MBA
Wave is providing live demonstrations of the SmartSigning Room October 15-16 at the Sheraton Hotel in Boston in its suite on the 29th floor, next door to the Mortgage Broker Association’s (MBA) Annual Conference and Exposition at the Hynes Convention Center. Demonstrations will also take place at DocuTech’s booth, # 409, on the show floor.
With SmartSigning Room, documents in the SmartSAFE™ virtual document repository (eVault) can be reviewed simultaneously by all signers. The SmartSigning Room also auto-creates an invitation email that provides borrowers with secure access to review, annotate, electronically sign, print or download documents. Extremely user friendly for the borrower and originator, the SmartSigning Room also gives both the investor and loan servicer the confidence that the loans have been properly disclosed, modified and signed.
“Recent regulatory changes and conversations with investors and lenders have shown the need for a trusted loan modification solution such as SmartSigning Room,” said Mitch Fransen, DocuTech vice president of investor relations. “Our partnership with Wave’s eSign Systems will allow us to provide that solution and benefit to both the investor and the borrower.”
“The new virtual signing rooms in the latest version of eSign Transaction Management Suite were developed in response to market and customer feedback,” said Scott Schrader president of Wave eSign Systems. “We expect this enhancement will have broad application across several vertical markets – including mortgage, insurance, banking, brokerage and law.”
“Given today’s mortgage landscape, lenders and servicers are looking for assurance, trust and ease of use in the solutions they select to improve borrower satisfaction,” added Kelly Purcell, executive vice president of Wave eSign Systems. “We’ve gone to great lengths with our document partners such as DocuTech in building turn-key, easy-to-use electronic solutions with a comprehensive set of compliance features.”
“If DocuTech is preparing a closing document and customizing it for a lender, it will now have access to our SmartSigning Room technology—designed to provide all parties with a secure, lender-branded environment for signing or annotating mortgage documents,” Kelly continued.
SMARTSIGNING ROOM FEATURES
Additional features of the SmartSigning Room include automatic notification to the originator if the borrower has not executed disclosures within 48 hours, controls around who can sign, expiration checks and requirements for borrower document review prior to signing. There is full logging and reporting of all SmartSigning Room creation, modification and activity.
Accessed through a username and password, the SmartSigning Room interface is user-friendly, customizable and supports signing various file types, including PDFs and SMARTDocs.
In addition to creating a branded SmartSigning Room, document providers can now distribute invitations and manage the Signing Room process, including obtaining ESIGN consumer consent.
Wave will also demonstrate how the mortgage industry can benefit from hardware-based, full disk encryption to protect sensitive information on company laptop computers. Demonstrations of the Seagate Momentus 5400 FDE.2 (Full Disc Encryption) hard drives, with EMBASSY management software will also take place in Wave’s suite on the 29th floor of the Sheraton Hotel next to the Hynes Convention Center.
To arrange personal meetings or demonstrations of the FDE drives or of the SmartSigning Room, contact Kelly Purcell directly at (602) 615-8092 or at kpurcell@esignsystems.com.
For more information on the eSign Management Trust Suite, see www.esignsystems.com. eMTS conforms to the technical and legal requirements of transactions governed by ESIGN, UETA, Revised Article 9 of the UCC, SPeRS and GPEA.

AWK, that on the surface appears to be really good news.
However, where does a revenue stream come into play,
management of subscriptions?
TVTonic, a free offering available with any PC running Microsoft Media Center, and for online access by any PC user at http://www.tvtonic.com , creates a television experience out of Internet video by taking the hassle out of searching for quality video on the Internet and allowing the viewer to simply see what's on, pick a channel, sit back and watch. TVTonic can manage a viewer's subscriptions much like a digital video recorder (DVR) for the Internet. Viewers select the channels they want to record and TVTonic caches the shows on the hard-drive. This is designed to ensure that the content is ready for viewing in a seamless, up to HD-quality format that remains high quality in full-screen mode. TVTonic is also designed to be navigated with a remote control, either on a consumer's PC or living room TV, for easy surfing across channels.

Company looking to move HQ?
FM-based company looking to move HQ
By Tim Engstrom
tengstrom@news-press.com
NeoMedia Technologies Inc. is looking to relocate from its Fort Myers headquarters because its lease will expire early next year.
Chief executive officer William “Chip” Hoffman said the company is reviewing options around the county and outside the area in major metropolitan areas like Atlanta, Washington D.C. and Dallas.
Moving to a major city could save the company money on transportation and open additional opportunities, Hoffman said.
“Right now, the bulk of our business is in Europe and we are getting more and more interest from the major markets in the U.S.,” Hoffman said. “We want to keep the company growing.”
NeoMedia develops technology used to market products and services on mobile phones. For example, the company developed a code reader that allows a mobile phone user to take a picture of a bar code on a movie poster, then be linked with a ticket site or related information on a mobile Web site.
Hoffman said no decisions have been made, but Lee County — which owns the former bank building at 2201 Second St. where NeoMedia leases space — would like them to leave “as soon as possible.”
NeoMedia’s predecessor company was founded in 1990 and moved to Fort Myers in 1996. About 24 people work at the Fort Myers headquarters, down from about 40 a year ago.
Hoffman has been the CEO since June.
In the three months ended June 30, the company reported a net loss of $2.6 million, or less than one cent per share. In the same period a year ago, the company reported net income of $5.1 million, or about 1 cent per share.
The company trades over counter at about 2 cents a share.

FloridaWave, I read that as well. Obviously that gives me little or no clue regarding my question to Helpful. Knowing the ETS is imbedded is encouraging in light of current SP's.

awk, I would not think anyone should get thier panties in a wad over a 15% Global market share or a 33% Europen market share!
TheIMS Research has calculated that an ST-Infineon merger would create a power semiconductor giant that would hold one-third of the European power discretes market, which could be enough to attract an enquiry from the EU's competition directorate.
The combined company would also dwarf its competitors in the power management market, according to IMS Research. The combined company would become by far the largest global supplier of power discretes, with a market share of more than 15 percent, significantly more than current leaders, Fairchild and International Rectifier.

The mood of Wavx investors is interesting.
In the survey of expected earnings for the quarter, 69% (a substantial majority) felt reported earnings would be between 1.2 and 1.8M. Actual earnings were 1.4. I would not have guessed this meltdown based on those realistic expectations.

U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Declines EEF Application
By Rahul Prabhakar
TMCnet Contributing Editor
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NeoMedia Technologies (News - Alert), Inc. announced recently that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office declined an application by the Electronic Freedom Foundation (EFF) to invalidate the company’s patents and intellectual property on how camera phones read, translate, and process codes and images.
This was the second unsuccessful attempt by the EFF to squash NeoMedia’s patents, which includes information on how camera phones read, translate, and process UPC codes, images, symbols, and RFID signatures via wireless networks.
An ecstatic William J. Hoffman (News - Alert) Jr., NeoMedia’s CEO, said in a statement to the press, “NeoMedia is once again very pleased with the decision of the U.S. Patent Office, and will continue to drive for use of mobile code technology that achieves mass global adoption of optically initiated wireless transactions on wireless networks.”
The company’s patented process enables wireless operators to take strategic advantage of camera phones and further monetize their networks. Operators can use this process to offer new methods of using wireless technology for consumers, businesses, advertisers, and brands.
“NeoMedia is continuing to work with any and all participants in the wireless ecosystem in an effort to create a global infrastructure that enables the broadest possible acceptance of mobile codes in all forms of commerce. By focusing on infrastructure that processes the transactions that drive this form of m-commerce,” Hoffman continued.
“NeoMedia believes it can best monetize and propagate the technology embodied in our IP to the benefit of the entire global wireless value chain.”

TVTonic, Wavexpress get a little press.
Digital Dealmakers: Michael Sprague
By Daisy Whitney
The player: Michael Sprague, president and chief operating officer for Wavexpress, which operates the TVTonic service.
The play: TVTonic is an online TV service that aggregates content from a number of Web sources and delivers them through its software, primarily to PCs with Microsoft Media Center technology. TVTonic operates as the video player that viewers use to watch programming from about 300 content producers currently, including Hollywood.com, Associated Press and Ziff Davis Media. “We are providing a portal out to video feeds from other sources,” he said. “It’s taking the content [viewers] select and putting it on the hard drive for playback.”
The pitch: TVTonic is banking on its Microsoft partnership. Media Center is now a feature included on all computers with the new Vista operating system from Microsoft. “Now [Media Center] is an application you can launch straight from the desktop,” Mr. Sprague said. TVTonic is among a handful of entertainment properties incorporated into the Media Center, along with Comedy Central and Movielink.
In the mix: TVTonic currently delivers content via RSS feeds. Mr. Sprague said he’s talking to broadcast and cable networks to strike partnerships that would include promotion on the TVTonic service as well as a share of advertising revenue.
Pros: As online video continues to flourish, consumers will migrate to easy services that manage and deliver the content they want.
Cons: Competition is stiff and Web-TV rival Joost already has a high profile. Also, success or failure hinges on Microsoft’s Media Center. “To some extent, we have hitched ourselves to Media Center and have spent a lot of effort developing something that works on Media Center,” Mr. Sprague said.
The backstory: Wavexpress was founded in 1999 as a technology firm that distributed large files. The company has shifted its focus to TVTonic in the last few years. Wavexpress is a division of Wave Systems.
The money guys: TVTonic makes money via advertising. It has a deal with ad network Broadband Enterprises, which sells ads in about 20 percent of the feeds coming into the service. TVTonic should be profitable some time next year, Mr. Sprague said. The company is owned by security software firm Wave Systems, which is publicly traded on NASDAQ.
Background: Mr. Sprague was born in New York and raised in Massachusetts. He studied philosophy and computer science at the University of Chicago. He also worked at consulting firm Enterprise Engineering. Mr. Sprague, 37, lives in Manhattan with his wife and two kids.
Who knew? Mr. Sprague loves to bake bread and makes rustic sourdough loaves every weekend.

Stop-gap security is a band aid causing the slog we will continue to experience. I never gave all the posts regarding tokens much thought because I did not see how it affected me.
But now my local MLS (I am a real state broker) is implementing a program called Rapattoni Secure Logon.
Rapattoni is the vendor for the local MLS service. RSA Security, Inc provides the technology.
http://www.rapattoni.com/prod/securelogon/default.asp
The token (fob) displays a 6 digit number every 60 seconds. When logging in one has to enter the current token code in addition to an agent ID and password. This all seams so archaic when I am setting here with a Dell Latitude D610 with a TPM and Wave's ETS. It is so frustrating to be subjected to such a primitive solution knowing superior technology is out there. It confirms in my own mind the importance of awk’s post from yesterday about "The Bottom Line... Trust Infrastructure" especially the ubiquity of the PC-based TPM chip.
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=20641905
Until we have the infrastructure in place we will all have to live with short term inferior solutions and slog onward.

Thanking you in advance for any DD you may have.
I am surprised a report like that has not caused this stock to spike. Is there a reason?
That's both interesting and encouraging. I have yet to talk with anyone outside of Waveoids and my IT guys (who learned from me, frown) who had any knowledge of TPM's.

Years ago I asked my local IT guys to let me know when they first receive any information in their business regarding TPM’s and Wave systems. This is a local computer related solutions provider representing Dell, Acer, i.e. Today I received a call telling me he sat though a Dell webinar (for about 45 minutes) explaining their new computer products. He said three of the slides feature TPM's and Wave's ETS. As has been said, "It is coming!"
