We have to ask ourselves who is not going to benefit from a success of LWLG new technology. New and potentially disruptive technologies have been in the past bought up cheep to end up being shelved and neutralized that way. I am sure that Dr Lebby is well aware of that danger. We are all proud that our little company
is debt free; however, having one of the big banks backing us is helpful in many ways. Providing financial support makes the bank have interest to the company's success and to be that way a great ally. Among other things it may bring cover by professionals on Wall Street. That would definitely help.
The frequent requests for lending out our shares for shorting should be reassuring as we take it to mean that there is a lot of interest to buy this company's shares as cheap as possible. The present bear market is obviously not encouraging new retail buyers and the selling of ETF's is effecting unfavorably the day to day share price. The shorts cannot buy shares and cover quickly on the market for the fear of the squeeze So, nobody is happy. The longs and the shorts are all sweating it on the thought of having been wrong. That's life.
Institutions add, that takes the sp up a little, enough to get the shorting to resume and take the sp down for another cycle. Hopefully you have sold your trades by then and getting ready to catch another wave up. That's real cash you're making while you are waiting for the real thing. Of course in my opinion.
Maybe people should consider maintaining three buckets; one for investing, one for trading and the third for cash that you might protect for the future 12 to 24 months or whatever time table you needs require. There is nothing wrong in trading LWLG as long as you are satisfied of the size of your position. This stock has been going up and down for months, it's ideal for short timed trades, in my opinion.
Wow! Glad I checked GOOGLE about the risks involved in lending one's shares!
I agree. I question the 100% collateral for the loaned shares. Does that mean that they are going to return all the shares back on demand? Is there a time element in this proposition? When the shares explode and the borrower defaults, how long is the process of returning the shares? Immediately, days, weeks? No, not worth the uncertainty.
Schwab called me on my cell phone (!) and left a message asking me to consider their program for lending my share out for shorting. First by emails now on my cell Shares for shorting must be getting rare and hot!
IDraco; on the other hand if one is not loaded, there is the risk of having to sell at a lower price than it would be otherwise, in the presence of heavy shorting. An unexpected need could force and untimely sale. Additionally there is always the need to balance your investment portfolio and a lower share price is not helping.
But yes, shorting is legal and increases the liquidity of the market for any given stock.
Or keep competing with the short covering when the sp drops to the 6s and below. I believe that the majority of the lending is done by the institutions.
Schwab is emailing me invitation daily to consider their SLFP program for lending my shares to them for others to short. The loss of SICP protection looks problematic to me. It appears limited to $500.000 value and although Schwab remains the guarantor for this amount, it doesn't look that it guarantees the number of shares to be returned to the account. The equivalent money sum returns to the account but now one has to try to buy the shares with it. I don't think one could buy the same number of shares unless the price of shares goes down.
It's not a win-win situation.
Can (algorithm) electronic covering beat or mitigate the squeeze when the news is out? Electronic trading is said to be triggered within seconds or less of the news and beats the regular trader, but I would expect that there are multiple electronic traders with competing algorithms at work at the same time. Am I wrong?
I also received by email an invitation by Schwab to enter into their security lending program today. The squeeze is coming!!!
Look up Brager, Eagle and Sq.PC on Google. One star only out of five. Read the one star comments.
The SP may start rising before any announcement. Some shorts may have or may get insider knowledge as to the timing of such announcement and start covering before the stampede. We may never get another chance to buy at this levels.
Since the the recent meeting of the shareholders we all know that it is no longer a generic "foundries" that LWLG is involved with for the commercialization of our product, We know much more, We know that there are seven foundries we are working with and that within a year and a half we are looking to partner with all seven, one after the other. We know this but each of these foundries knows it too! And who else knows this?Foundries which for whatever reason are not yet collaborating with us. It doesn't take a lot of business sense to know how important that is.
I also keep on buying as long as I can while they short more. But I keep my 2 years survival cash aside like LWLG is doing.
Frobinso. Well said! Great post. EOM
Theroc 66. I see. thank you. ML said at one point last year that they had left the possibility open in case they had to go on their own. Chess strategy rules teach that the threat of a move is stronger than the move itself. That rules applies to every thing, I believe. I trust the next move by ML will be a good one.
Fortunately I have plenty of time and patience ( Buffett's rule ).
GLTAL
I suspect that despite our great revolutionary technology it may be difficult for the foundries to determine whether they will be selling more or less chips. In other words will they lose or make money with LWLG on their chips. I believe that if LWLG would make a credible threat to start their own chip business would force the foundries' hand in a hurry.
Market? We may have found the bottom today, I hope. Futures were up this morning but instantly reversed to down ( the Dow by 500 points ) when the news on the inflation were reported at 8.30. Later when it opened it returned positive again. Obviously the first reaction was caused by algorithms until it was corrected by real investors. The Nasdaq is still negative but barely, That's encouraging.
I appreciate your thoughts. Thank you very much.
Would buying call and/or selling put counterbalance the shorting?
More shoes to drop, one after the other. A cascade !
"...that are used in routers,..." etc. That should take care of the bottled neck!
One question among others that a foundry has to answer before the signature on the paper is perhaps this; are we going to make more money with LWLG on board or less? Are we going to be selling more of less chips? Chips with LWLG on and without? What is the market going to support and at what price.
Agree totally. Dr, Lebby is obviously a very disciplined man that knows very well that "loose lips sink ships", in other words, it would be a mistake to talk about deals before there is a signature on the paper.
Daddy, are we there yet???
Most important tool for the investor to be successful according to Warren Buffet: patience>
I understood that a LWLG modulator increases the speed by which the language(0s and 1s) information is created in/by the chips. Am I correct? I remember Lebby explaining it on one of his presentations.
It should not affect the speed of the laser?
Sows have 36 little piglets every year.
F2. On my Schwab account for LWLG.
Schwab showing 2% institutional share ownership and 4.1 M shares short (=to about 4%).
Dr. Michael Lebby, Chief Executive Officer of Lightwave Logic, commented: "This patent application conveys the world-class work being done at Lightwave Logic. This significantly increased performance from a chemistry and materials standpoint allows us to keep our focus on partnering with silicon foundries and seamlessly integrating our electro-optic polymers.
"In technical terms, this chromophore is important because it represents a class of materials that has extraordinary electroptic properties such as high poling efficiency and high r33. Importantly for silicon foundry applications, it is a high Tg material that exhibits ultra-high temporal stability at high chromophore loading in the bulk material, all while maintaining other essential properties like solubility and compatibility with many types of polymers. This is due to its unique structural components.
Does "ultra-high temporal stability" speak to the "degradation curve" that one can reasonably expect? This question would be for Dr. ML.
Without claiming understanding of the science in question in the articles you provided a link for, one important distinction and advantage is in my opinion that the polymer used by LWLG is manufactured in their labs, it is not a rare earth metal and therefore with limited availability geographically and politically.
This latest PR demonstrates that the LWLG lab is not resting on the successes already obtained but continues to work hard on further technological developments. This is a race for sure but there is no goal line, no end. The goal is to stay ahead of everybody else. Go LWLG!!!
Somebody asked where one could buy EPIC here in the US, implying,I thought, that EPIC could be bought on European exchanges. Now, if EPIC is active in Europe but not yet in the US, is it possible that the millions of shares in question were purchased for and by EPIC?
It could be investment from Europeans through EPIC? I read somewhere that EPIC is active in Europe already.
Sammie. The Lincoln deal is like an equity loan on your home. It doesn't cost you anything unless and until you use it. If you wait until the day you need the money to strike a deal with the bank you may not get a deal quickly. With the equity loan you just have to write a check the second you need the money. What's not to like? I have had an unused one for at least ten years.
Where does one find silicone in order to make boules or ingots?
Also, please, can you tell us about the process by which the polymer used by LWLG is obtained
The movement of a stock over time is never on a straight line.
