Glenda, BMY pays a nice 4.5% dividend. It's also cheap at this price and that makes it a nice total return candidate. IMO
Glenda, I bought MO, BMY, DQE and GXP. Average yield is 5.7%, tax free thanks to the "W." The safety of their dividends are rated B+ or better by S&P. That pretty much does it, for me, with Hi Yield stocks.
Others that I considered were CIN-5.08%, DGAS-5.06%, EDE-5.93%, HE-5.51%, PEG-5.28% and UIL-at a whopping 7.53%. All with dividends at B+ or higher.
Hawk, I use Schwab's site. It's very comprehensive.
FWIW, bought DQE for dividend.
Fred, thanks for asking. I've got a Manager and 3 Bartenders. It pretty much runs itself. My Manager is a great kid, honest, and I cut him in for a piece, so he has a vested interest, Plus I've got an Inventory control system that fairly comprehensive, so all I do is check the numbers to make sure every thing is accounted for.
As far as my health is concerned, I saw the Surgeon today. Although the pain should ease over the next 2 weeks, I won't be back to normal for about a year. I had some serious surgery done. More serious then I imagined. So I'll have to take it slow and easy, even though I'm bored out of my mind. Oh well, you have to play the cards you're dealt.
Hope all is well with you.
FWIW, bought MO, BMY, and GXP for the tax-free dividends. Also looking at DQE, CIN, UIL and EDE for the same reason. Thanks "W."
Rheeman , why don't you try experimenting with exponential moving averages, as opposed to simple moving averages. I think you'll see a significant diiference. Just a sugestion.
Had a painful weekend, Rheeman. Building a tolerance to the pain pills they're giving me. Besides, pain pills mess up my stomach, even Ibuprofen upsets my stomach. The Dr.'s say that the pain is gonna hang around for a while, so I guess I'll have to get used to my new "friend."
(COMPX) FWIW I think we can correct another 60-75 points. But I'd put my shopping list together, because, after we bottom, we'll come roaring back. IMO we're in great shape through the spring.
This might be a good time to buy some high-dividend paying Dow type stocks. I have a gut feeling that the Dow is gonna lead the way back up.
Here's a new List of stocks that I think, merit consideration. Let me know your opinions.

Good Luck and Be Careful, this week.
Rheeman, the white candlesticks are getting smaller, which implies, to me, that the mo is losing steam. With Friday's Bearish Engulf, we could see a bit of a correction this week (1875-1850). At that point we could see a short squeeze that will bring us to new highs. I'm still very bullish, and think we're in pretty good shape trough the spring. FWIW
Now tell me about your new charting technique that has shown all this promise.
(COMPX) FWIW, I think Monday will be a down day. Might have had a Bearish Engulf, today.
Fred (AAC), given today's Piercing Pattern, I thing you might be able to get it in the mid to upper .40's. IMO
Liz, yea of little faith. LOL
Fred, they had to break a couple of ribs to get the right angle to go in. So I'm still feeling aches and pains, but things are, slowy improving.
Liz, before the surgery, they shaved the hair off my body from the waist up. Now that it's beginning to grow back, it itches like crazy.
No more stitches or staples Thank you Lord. Now I can scratch and feel a bit more comfortable. It's the little things in life that I've grown to appreciate.
Ron, what do you mean by "TEC?"
Fred, thanks for those kind words. Very much appreciated.
Hawk (GOAM), looks the the market finally noticed the co.. It's got an awful lot of mo behind it. Could run for another couple of days.
Having a tough day pain wise. Getting my staples and stitches removed tomorrow. I'm hoping that will make me feel more comfortable. Right now, can't sleep. Whole body feels pain. Life's a bitch, right now.
Looks like a Bullish Engulf on PYR. FWIW
Penny stock players should take a look at AIPN. Trading solidly above the BB Bands on both the dailies and weeklies. Looks solid to me . FWIW
Morning All. I'd keep an eye on CYPT. Looks to me like it had a selling climax on Monday, and a move to $1.60 may be in the cards. FWIW
LOL, Marcos. Right now, I think you're safe. I don't think I could strangle a squirrel, let alone dealing with O'Hare. Frankly, the place I'd like to be would be on a cruise, somewhere. But, that too, will have to wait. Thanx for the thought, though, even if I do detect a touch of sarcasm.
Glenda, Thanks for your kind thoughts. I wish I felt as good as the Dr.'s think. I still have quite a bit of pain. Am waiting impatiently to have my staples and stitches removed, which should happen on Friday. But, I'm still a couple of weeks away from, actually, feeling better. But, at least I'm out of the hospital and back home, in my own bed.
Ron (AIDO), it sure looks good to me. Fits my parameters. Even the weeklies look solid. And, most important, the volume was there to confirm. Unless it goes nuts on tomorrow's open, I may take a position in it. Thanx for the heads up.
Now you're talking, Rheeman. That would be a great time. I'll bring my laptop so we could always star current. What, am I nuts? Forget the market, and focus on the tables. YYYEEESSSSS!!!!!!!! I may never come back east. LOL
Rheeman, I'm not moving anywhere, just yet. We bought a bigger place in Virginia and are finishing up the decorating. Ain't no way my wife is gonna let me mess up her lifestyle. It'll be more like me renting a place in Scottsdale for a couple of months in the fall. Then I can come visit you and Liz, and even make a contribution to Las Vegas. Maybe I'll drive my car out there. That would be a nice little trip. LOLOL
Or maybe go up north and stay with Ron for a while. Maybe I can help his golf game. I've got a 7 handicap. Hear that, Ron? LOL
No Rheeman. I don't have a UV light, although I always thought you were kind of slick. LOLOL
Ron, I probably made that trade more out of boredom then any thing else, which is dangerous.
My Dad lived to be 97, so you might be right. Though that's an awful lot of time to be tortured. I know they aren't gonna kill me, but torture is another story. LOL
You and me will be like those Wal-Mart greeters, cuz I'll be dragging you along with me. LOLOL
Rheeman, I've had the Ionic Breeze for a year or 2. Obviously, it didn't stop me from getting pneumonia, which, in my case, is the root of the evil. Don't geet me wrong, I'm not knocking it, but I can't endorse it as a "cure all," either. In my case, I should probably rent a place in Arizona or New Mexico, each fall, until the leaves disappear.
Rheeman, I'm still in quite a bit of pain. I don't sleep much because of it. That will improve some, on Friday, when they take the stitches and staples out. But, they also had to break a few ribs so they could go in at the angle they required. I'm still gonna hurt for another couple of weeks.
Morning All. FWIW bought LTRX.
Ron, don't think that your putting Jake^ at the end of your posts wasn't noticed, and appreciated. But then I've learned to expect those kinds of things frrom you, my friend. You're one, quality human being.
Hello All. Just got released this A.M.. It was a bear of an experience. Am still in a lot of pain. It will, still, take a few more weeks to get to feeling normal, physically, again. Dr's were pleased with my recovery. to the point where they were, frankly, surprised at how well I was doing.I don't know how true that is, but then, for me, it was a horrible experience.
Incomparable to anything I've ever experieced. But, in any case, it's over and, now, I have to focus on getting back to feeling normal, again. Thanx for ALL your good wishes, and prayers!! Frankly, I thought, several times, that I was able to FEEL them. God Bless ALL of You.
Jake
Hey All, I'm going in for surgery on Friday. It seems I have a heavy infection to go with the pneumonia, and the fluid on the left lung. I'll be spending at least 24 hours on a ventilator, and will be in the hospital, any where from a week to a month, depending on what they find when they go in. Yes, it is life threatening. Wish me Luck. I need it this time.
Jerry, IMO, sell DSLN. WAVX has more of a future. FWIW
Rheeman, if you think about it, I'm saying the same thing you are, only you're focusing on the chart. What I'm trying to get across is that don't worry about the $$, worry about the trade. If you make good trades, the $$ will be there. If you buy low and sell high, you'll always make $$. If you do all your homework, and stick to it, the $$ will be there.
But the minute you start thinking about the $$, say goodbuy to your rules and discipline, and the $$ will go down the toilet.
It's really no different then what you were saying about the charts not lying. Different words, same concept.
BTW Ron, invaluable post.
Ron/Rheeman, as the post points out, Volume is the Tool of Manipulation. You see the blocks at the top, or a peak, but the boredom at the bottom. I don't know how many stocks I've seen trade big volume, day after day, with no price action. Then when the run begins, the volume re-appears, slowly at first, but building to a crescendo, where a top or peak usually appears.
Rheeman, it isn't so much, that you're misreading the chart, IMO, you're misreading the Volume. Volume tells all. It confirms or denies. Using the charts, with a heavy emphasis on reading the Volume, would enhance your interpretation, greatly. IMO
