Man I got April on the brain!!
Dave
500K IMO is too high for the next quarterly report. The quarter has been over for 20 days already. While some of us were dismayed by the 4th quarter results I felt they were just where I thought they were going to be. This quarter will probably come in around 200K give or take 25K either way. I would peg a 185K guess to be right. Yes we have seen Dell step up to the plate, and even though we knew they did some of us even had a hard time locating it on the web site. How many people found it that have no connection to this stock? This seems to be a nice slow steady roll out by Dell, give the gradual prominence that Wave has started being given in other parts of the Dell site. This is a good thing. The general public still needs to be educated on the new security solutions. I think Dell is trying not to put the cart before the horse here. That is what makes is sooo difficult for most here. We all scream out in unison WHY WHY WHY why not Wave, we have your solution, when almost everybody in the business is still asking HOW, how can we make this secure. We will have arrived when the How's meet the Why's and become the HERE'S, as in here is your solution and it's seemless and simple and trustworthy and click here to activate. Oh yea one more thing- When the Dell flyer in the Sunday paper arrives and we see DELL recommends the Embassy Trust Suite the same way it recommends windows I think we can say beyond a shadow of a doubt we've arrived.
Dave
A $34,000 return in a day on a 500K investment that's probably why. These guys are in it to make money today not 2 years from now. And besides, they can always buy more later today.
Dave
Looks like the bailing has begun...........
This was part of a former deal, it has nothing to do with somebody loaning money to them today. With the Dell/Intel situation among others getting moneu should be no problem. However, I think this should be the last time they need to do this. It better be the last time they have to do this for the company's sake. We thought it was tough to get money the last time, how is it going to look if they have deals in the pipeline with Dell and Intel, and let's be frank, these should be revenue producing arrangements. You can clamor all you want but if they can't move product hitched with Dell and Intel, it's over Johnny. The time is now for this company to start producing. They need to have a substantial quarter within the next few or the goodwill they have with many of the long timers will be severely eroded. At this juncture it's all about the execution.
Dave
"ridin' the storm out"
We'll know in about 7 minutes................
Good Tony. It seems that this company has it's fingers in a lot of different products. Could be another avenue.

Lightweight, customisable, high-performance notebook with the smallest footprint
[Johannesburg, 14 March 2005] - Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT provider, announced a new addition to its best selling, high-end, professional notebook, the LIFEBOOK S7020 Series.
Building on the company's established reputation for lightweight, high-performance products, the LIFEBOOK S7020 Series is accompanied by a range modular options which enable the frequent traveller to create a notebook that perfectly fits their needs. Customers are now able to create the most manageable, ergonomic, secure and mobile user-friendly notebook in the marketplace.
advertisement
The new LIFEBOOK S7020 Series also helps users to increase their productivity by incorporating the latest Intel Centrino Mobile Technology platform: the new Intel Pentium M Processor generation and the Intel 915GM Chipset, faster memory technology to provide improved application and integrated graphics performance. In addition to the traditional interfaces, a separate PCMCIA ExpressCard slot has been included along with a PC card slot, enabling the LIFEBOOK S7020 to support existing and future notebook technologies.
"We are really excited to be launching the LIFEBOOK S7020, because it further extends our leadership in the high-end notebook segment," says Andrew Tsobanoglou, Product Manager, Professional Products at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "We have spent a number of years perfecting production techniques to enable us to offer customers the widest possible choice of features for their notebooks. We believe the new functionality we offer in the LIFEBOOK S7020 gives customers the most choice in the marketplace."
Using Fujitsu Siemens Computers' built-to-order and made4you customising service, the company can build notebooks that meet customers' requirements and ensure a longer lifecycle. There are three models all designed with differing 14.1-inch display types to reflect the various needs of mobile workers. It means the LIFEBOOK S7020 can become the frequent traveller's best friend, meeting all the challenges facing today's mobile 'road-warrior'.
Ultimate mobile tool
The LIFEBOOK S7020 series is 1.75kg light and features a crisp 14.1-inch display, which is available in three different formats (XGA Glare and Non-Glare and SXGA+). The modular bay system enables mobile workers to opt for a wide range of devices including CD/DVD/CD-R/RW drives or a multi-format DVD writer with double layer support (DVD+/RW DL Writer). Most importantly, the modularity of LIFEBOOK S7020 overcomes battery-life issues, because users can opt for a second battery, which means the notebook can be used practically all day.
With optional integrated Intel PRO/Wireless Wireless LAN and Bluetooth V1.2 technology and two antennas to ensure the strongest signal available, it means mobile users can always remain in contact with their office, no matter what the circumstances.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers now also offers the AVM ISDN-Controller FRITZ!Card Express as an accessory, which is the first ISDN solution for the PCI-Express standard for notebooks. Unlike legacy PC cards, this PCI Express card offers a new high-speed connection in a compact format which is compatible for notebooks.
Security is a major concern for the mobile user and the LIFEBOOK S Series comes with a number of features to guarantee the highest levels for security to protect user and company information. The five hardware buttons on the security panel can be used to enter an access code, which is prompted when the system is booted. The buttons can then be used as quick-touch buttons for speedy access to important functions or specific applications. A smart card controller is integrated in the PC card slot to allow simple use of a smart card. The optional SecureIT suite offers a series security features, including Windows access protection with SICRYPT SMARTY, file encryption for data protection and password protection with SmartCase, e-mail encryption with SmartCard and SystemLock for pre-boot access protection with SmartCard to block unauthorised booting of the notebook. The hard disk drive is also password-protected to prevent fraudulent use of any stored data.
In addition, the Infineon Trusted Platform Module (TPM) with out-of-the-box encryption software and interfaces supports security solutions that identify the LIFEBOOK S7020 and enable secure transactions.
Ergonomics
Ease-of-use and comfort remain important features of this latest notebook, because it offers a brilliant 14.1-inch display, which comes with different resolutions (XGA and SXGA+) depending on the model chosen. The large screen makes it possible to view multimedia in comfort and make elaborate presentations. The notebook also offers the dual pointing device with an integrated touchpad with three buttons, as well as an integrated touchstick, which helps to increase ease-of-use and the user's productivity. Although lightweight, the notebook remains highly durable and robust, having to pass over 50 different extensive quality tests and offering hard disk drive shock-absorbers to minimise data loss and guarantee higher reliability for stored data. Furthermore, the LIFEBOOK S Series is engineered with an intelligent material-mix of different synthetics and magnesium to create a lightweight, stable and robust notebook with a good cooling concept.
A wealth of interfaces, ranging from Firewire (IEEE1344) to a media slot for SD or MS memory cards, assures instant connectivity to a wide range of accessories. The optional port replicator, which is compatible with other LIFEBOOKs, makes connecting to the office LAN and external monitor a snap.
Manageability
The LIFEBOOK S7020 also comes with the client management tool DeskView for easy and remote administration of the notebook. In addition, Fujitsu Siemens Computers offers IT managers the option of the ManageIT Suites using Altris software solutions for migration and control of multiple notebooks in corporate environments. More complex solutions, such as the migration of operating systems, the remote installation of application software, advanced hardware and software inventorying in multiple networks, and licence management, can be realised with the optional ManageITSuite Migration and ManageIT Suite Controlling.

Intel fortifies mobile transactions
By Jan Libbenga
Published Thursday 17th February 2005 12:47 GMT
3GSM Intel has joined Orange and Visa International to better protect premium digital content and transactions on mobile handsets. The company will use a combination of hardware and software to provide more more security for consumers to pay for online music or video, the company announced this week at 3GSM in Cannes.
The new Intel Wireless Trusted Platform is comparable with solutions Intel has developed for desktop PCs. Connected to the motherboard or the inner circuitry is a Trusted Platform Module, which contains a unique digital signature of the platform's software configuration. When booted, the digital signature is recalculated and compared to previous signatures. If the signature can't be validated, devices are notified of a change in the reported platform's state. It will not only protect users against viruses and software corruption, but also secures content delivery and downloads.
Orange will integrate its Orange Operators Virtual Machine (OVM) technology, a middleware environment targeted at hosting security demanding services, with the Intel Wireless Trusted Platform. Orange and Visa both hope to develop a secure payment solution that eliminates the possibly of payments transactions being conducted if the mobile phone has been stolen or lost.
At present mobile handsets mostly rely on software for security purposes. That has a couple of drawbacks, including a high energy uptake, in particular with encryption-based solutions. With hardware, this isn’t really a problem.
Intel stresses it will not take away business from DRM or anti virus software manufacturers. Those applications can still run on top of Intel’s platform. ®

Right on Hackshaw! I think this is the first roll out of EMBASSY brand security we will see. Can HP EMBASSY, IBM EMBASSY, GATEWAY EMBASSY, COMPAQ EMBASSY be far behind?!?
Dave
Lugan, no problem.
Dave
Vader that's going to be the beauty of how it works. You will see Embassy and know it is trusted. Do you know exactly how your credit card transaction are authenticated and stored when you buy something at Target? How are they done differently there from Lowe's or Home Depot? The public won't care if they know that it is secure. Sure we realize there can only be one authenticater. The PC companies and others in the industry only want one authenticater and Wave would be perfect because that is all we do. We just do the security, something that can enhance a product line and not take away from an already existing one. Can you imagine the tremendous disadvantage other pc manufacturers would be at if Dell controlled the whole thing, the could put everybody out of business. Or if Microsoft controlled the whole enchillada. They could dictate manufacturing specs to the PC makers and, or push some sort of new delivery vehicle and shut the PC guys out altogether. EMBASSY will be the branding name I am almost sure of it.
Dave
Tony by the end of summer I think we will have our answer.
Dave
Zen, I got it to work when I first clicked on it and then I got the other thing when I was putting the tiny url post together. I saw it and know you were correct sir.
Dave
Eamon, I look at this as a major positive for Wave. By listing the EMBASSY name I think we are seeing the branding.
Given the discussions that we have had here about one company being perceived as controlling the direction security will take in this space I think it is only logical that they would try and put a branmd name out in the fore instead of a company and a brand. i think we may see HP Embassy, Dell Embassy, IBM embassy. Embassy could be a generic term that people may equate with security in the PC and mobile space Embassy = Security. If it's got Embassy inside it's secure. We know it's Wave but the public could care less. SKS has said the public will want it to be seemless and running in the background. Brandnaming Embassy instead Wave could be the tack we may see being taken. I think this is a beautiful thing. Feel the ubiquity.
Dave
I see the page cannot be found but you see how both take you to the same place.
Dave
OT: Posting links please read.......
If you guys want to shorten a link to a page such as the Dell link Zen posted go to tinyurl.com They will shorten any link into something you can paste into your browser. For example, Zen's link that looked like this

becomes this
http://tinyurl.com/3mgcu
Try it you'll like it!
Dave
again sorry for the OT, but I think it may help us here so I guess it is semi OT
Embassy will be used on pc's the way Dolby was used on audio equipment. EMBASSY is a pretty generic term and maybe that is what these companies are going to go with. We know embassy = Wave and the public dosen't need to know that only that if it has Embassy inside it is secure.

TPM 1.2 mention:ULi plans new AMD K8 chipsets
Posted on Monday, February 21 2005 @ 18:54:04 CET by LSDsmurf
ULi plans mass production of a new all-in-one AMD Athlon64 processor chipset in Q2 2005 and by year-end a chipset with dual-channel DDR2 memory support.
The all-in-one solution, the M1697, will follow another ULi northbridge for the AMD K8 platform, the M1695. Both products are expected to be ready for mass production around May. The M1697 is very interesting because it’s designed to integrate a lot of features, including support for legacy interfaces such as parallel ATA, and new prospective technologies such as SATA II and High-Definition Audio. In addition, the chip has some security functions that support the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) 1.2 specification developed by TCG (Trusted Computing Group).

Move Over, Passwords, And Make Room For Tokens
Two security vendors this week announced new tokens, which are small pieces of hardware that users often carry on keychains to gain access to computers, often through a USB port.

The standard process of using semi-permanent passwords to access applications is passé. That's the message at the RSA Conference in San Francisco.
Two security vendors this week announced new tokens, which are small pieces of hardware that users often carry on keychains to gain access to computers, often through a USB port. Tokens can issue one-time passwords that become invalid after a user accesses an application, or can contain user-authentication data as an enhancement or even replacement to passwords and user names.
RSA Security Inc. announced a new USB-enabled token, the SecurID SID800, which can store electronic credentials such as one-time passwords, digital certificates, and standard passwords. RSA also unveiled the SecureID SID700, which is 35% smaller than its well-known SecurID authenticator. RSA says it shipped its 20-millionth SecurID authenticator last quarter.
SecurID SID800 can be used for "strong authentication" (two or more ways of identifying a user) for RSA's Sign-On Manager identity-management application. A 64,000-smart chip sports enough room for up to seven digital certificates and three sets of username/password credentials. Pricing varies by quantities purchased, but the SecurID SID700 averages around $42 per device and the SecurID SID800 is priced around $50.
Strong-authentication competitor VeriSign Inc. announced that it will soon make available two new tokens. The company says it will offer a one-time password token with a total cost of operation per user of less than $10 a year. VeriSign also is releasing a dual-purpose USB authenticator with either 128-Mytes or 265-Mbytes of secure storage. The USB authenticators can be used to store one-time passwords, PKI credentials, and provide functionality similar to that of smartcards.
A survey released by RSA Security showed consumers are losing faith in traditional security measures. When asked if usernames and passwords provide enough protection for their personal information, 53% said no, compared with only 35% last year.

In a recent report*, IDC, a leading IT market research firm, stated that government regulations are requiring additional protection of information associated with privacy and also company governance, and that e-mail encryption is a best practice that can provide regulatory compliance. To comply, organizations need a way to communicate sensitive information securely and efficiently to a broad range of recipients, without relying on the user to enforce policy. But email security is traditionally hampered by varied and incompatible delivery formats and security capabilities demanded by recipients, and compliance efforts are limited by inability to control what recipients do once a message is received.
The Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server provides customers with automatic protection of sensitive e-mail communications -- in a format that is transparent to the sender, is driven by what protection level is required, and is delivered to the recipient via the most suitable format. Security credentials for external recipients are transparently managed at the gateway on behalf of the organization.
As a part of the expanded delivery options, Entrust's secure e-mail gateway is also being integrated with the Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server to allow for the dynamic conversion of sensitive e-mail communications to policy-protected Adobe PDF documents. This integration is an industry first, and will provide organizations with the unique ability to protect e-mail content persistently, long after the recipient receives the email. Content protection applied to the PDF document can help prevent the document from being printed, opened by unintended recipients, or cut and pasted, while enforcing the expiry of the message contents.
"Adobe is pleased to be working with Entrust to bring persistent and flexible content protection to enterprise email traffic," said Ivan Koon, Senior Vice President, Intelligent Documents Business Unit at Adobe. "Our combined solution offers a centrally managed approach to help customers meet their compliance requirements. We believe the new Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server adds significant value in a secure email environment, by ensuring that message senders maintain control over what is done with their proprietary or confidential information."
With the addition of new delivery methods, the Entrust Entelligence Messaging Server will be able to handle a broad range of secure delivery formats:
-- S/MIME: industry-standard support for Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Notes environments that can be installed on the desktop for "end-to-end" security or at the gateway for boundary-only encryption
-- WebMail Center: offers both a full-featured secure web mail portal and an option for delivering encrypted HTML that eases secure communications with customers or partners in various e-mail environments
-- PGP: supports the automatic conversion of plaintext or S/MIME to PGP and vice versa, and includes the centralized management of PGP credentials
-- Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server: integration to help enable the policy- driven protection of e-mail communications using content protection capabilities delivered by the Adobe's LiveCycle Policy Server and compatible capabilities in Adobe Acrobat(R) 7.0 software.
"Entrust has always been focused on bringing customer-driven products and solutions to market," said Leah MacMillan, Vice President of Products & Solutions at Entrust. "Offering greater flexibility in terms of delivery options helps our customers more easily communicate securely with their employees, partners and customers. Our customers can help meet their acceptable use policies and regulatory compliance needs without relying on end users to enforce policies, and with less concern about the email environment or security level of the recipients."
The PGP and WebMail functionality is planned for commercial availability in the summer of 2005, with the Adobe integration available later in the year.

IBM Locks Up Lead in PC Security
New Biometric, Encryption and Traceability Tools for IBM ThinkPad and ThinkCentre
/noticias.info/ SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- Feb 16, 2005 -- RSA 2005 -- IBM today built on nearly six years of leadership and innovation in PC security by announcing three new security technologies for its industry-leading ThinkPad notebooks and ThinkCentre desktops, including new biometric fingerprint options, data encryption solutions and embedded notebook traceability tools.
The availability of these new technologies follows results last week from IBM's 2004 Global Business Security Index Report, which provided new details about the spread of viruses and worms and their impact on users and IT departments.
Since 1999, when IBM announced the industry's first PC with an Embedded Security Subsystem, IBM has literally set the security standards for other PC companies to emulate. A founding member of the Trusted Computing Group, an industry standards body for security, IBM is focused on developing the industry's most innovative and secure PCs. In 2005, IBM will extend its previously announced biometric security solutions by expanding the availability of integrated fingerprint readers more widely among ThinkPad notebooks, and offering new fingerprint reader options for ThinkCentre desktops and ThinkPad notebooks, all of which make it one of the industry's largest suppliers of biometric-equipped PCs. Other additions to its security portfolio for ThinkPad notebooks and ThinkCentre desktops include new data encryption solutions and enhanced anti-theft technologies.
"Every PC user recognizes that security threats are increasing in volume and complexity," said Clain Anderson, program director for wireless and security solutions, IBM Personal Computing Division. "Our solution is to provide an even stronger, multi-layered set of security tools that builds on IBM industry leadership."
Biometric Security Authentication
The new IBM Preferred Pro USB Fingerprint Keyboard and IBM USB Fingerprint Reader offer biometric solutions to authentication, providing one of the most secure log-in processes available. The new keyboard and reader offer users the convenience to gain access to confidential files with the swipe of a finger, rather than typing passwords for many applications. IBM began offering a built-in fingerprint reader in the ThinkPad T42 notebook in October 2004, and these new security solutions extend biometrics to ThinkCentre desktops and to other ThinkPad models. They also work together with IBM's patented Embedded Security Subsystem, available on select models, to provide a multi-layered approach that exceeds the capability of many software-only solutions. The IBM Preferred Pro USB Fingerprint Keyboard, priced at $99, and the IBM USB Fingerprint Reader, priced at $69, will be available on February 28, 2005 at www.ibm.com.
Data Encryption and Security
In response to demand for improved data security, IBM worked with Utimaco, a leader in enterprise information security, to announce SafeGuard PrivateDisk, a tool that generates an encrypted "virtual" disk drive that serves as an electronic safe for the secure encryption and storage of sensitive data -- on local hard disks, network drives, and all removable media. This software enables customers to back up, save and encrypt data on removable media without worry that, if lost or stolen, important information would be compromised. SafeGuard PrivateDisk further compliments SafeGuard Easy, a full hard-drive encryption product previously announced by IBM. The new tool is also integrated with IBM's embedded security chip, offering users even more data security protection. In conjunction with these offerings, IBM and Utimaco have signed a global alliance agreement for joint marketing of PC encryption solutions.
Two versions of SafeGuard PrivateDisk will be available; the Personal Edition that is designed for small and medium-sized businesses and the Enterprise Edition, which with its extended configuration and distribution options, is designed to meet the needs of larger organizations. SafeGuard PrivateDisk-Personal Edition will be available for free web download for IBM customers at www.ibm.com starting March 1, 2005.
PC Theft Recovery and Asset Tracking Solutions
To help organizations overcome the security risks associated with remote, mobile and desktop computer loss, IBM worked with Absolute Software to integrate a new version of Absolute's Computrace solution with the BIOS firmware of new ThinkPad notebooks, making IBM the only vendor to embed the anti-theft traceability tool in the hardware of the PC. In the event that a user's ThinkPad notebook or ThinkCentre desktop is stolen, Absolute guarantees its recovery, and at the user's request, can remotely delete sensitive data from the stolen computer if data privacy is a concern. If the computer is not recovered within 30-60 days, the user may be eligible for a Recovery Guarantee payment of up to $1,000. Additionally, Absolute provides users with a cost-effective solution for tracking computer location, providing computer hardware/software inventories, managing lease returns and enabling software title tracking and license compliance. IBM ThinkPad notebooks preloaded with Absolute's Computrace technology will be available later this month.
At RSA 2005, IBM PC Division is demonstrating new security technologies and the new T43 with integrated fingerprint reader, announced in late January.
