GMED Inflammation
I have only posted once here, but I have held GMED for many months. I am a member of the medical research establishment. In fact, I am preparing a paper for publication that may gain national attention in the area of infectious disease.
I came to GMED from quite a different route. I recently had a close family member who was dying of gastric cancer. In the last weeks of his life, I was feverishly researching each of his medical ailments in the hope that I could make him more comfortable or prolong his life. He began to get ascites: fluid filling his abdominal cavity. I pulled many papers on the treatment of malignant ascites. Most merely discussed regimens of paracentesis and intravascular fluid resuscitation -- pulling out the fluid with a needle and providing him with fluid in his veins to keep him from becoming hypotensive. However, a paper from England went into great detail about the use of ACE inhibitors. They claimed that the use of a prolonged regimen of such inhibitors of the renin-angiotensin system had reversed the collection of ascites in a significant number of patients. I was very perplexed. My relative died on the night before we could initiate the regimen, but I continued to ponder this finding. I went back to the textbooks, but I could find no reason for the effect of the ACE inhibitors. I began to search not only Medline but the standard internet search engines, and I found Dr. M and Genomedics. He, in my opinion, has the only cogent argument to explain the effects of ACE inhibitors on malignant ascites. I have followed the company closely since that time and am excited about the upcoming NIAID findings. It is also notable that the Malaysian partner appears to be funding research trials on Dr. M's postulates. This will have the same effect on GMED as a large cash investment directly from that partner; in fact, due to the present economic structure of research within the US, it is more cost effective.

NanoSignal Corp Order With MGE UPS Systems and FuelCellStore.com For Ballard AirGen Fuel Cell Generators Ballard Power Systems' AirGen(R) to Provide Backup Power to NanoSignal's SLICES(TM) Image Processing Workstations for MRI Systems
LAS VEGAS, Jan 26, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- NanoSignal Corporation (OTCBB: NNOS)
is pleased to announce agreement with MGE UPS Systems a worldwide distributor
and service provider for Ballard Power Systems' Air Gen(R) fuel cell generators
to purchase Air Gen products through MGE's e-commerce partner, Fuel Cell
Store.com. The AirGen(R) fuel cell generator will provide continuous backup
power for NanoSignal's new SLICES(TM) image processing workstations used with
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems.
The 1-kilowatt AirGen(R) models will be beta-tested at an initial MRI site
operated by Desert Radiology in Las Vegas, Nevada. Upon successful completion of
testing, NanoSignal will include an AirGen(R) system with each new SLICES
workstation. MGE will provide service for all AirGen(R) units. NanoSignal's unit
has been shipped and receipt anticipated by the end of the week for
installation.
NanoSignal's SLICES(TM) technology features groundbreaking software that
manipulates raw data matrices obtained through the MRI scanning process. Through
the use of advanced calculations, SLICES(TM) systems produce images that boast
up to 10 times more clarity and resolution than standard MRI processing
software.
"Ballard's AirGen(R) fuel cell generator is the perfect solution for MRI
applications because of its power conditioning and hours of backup time," stated
Jack Pouchet, director of marketing for MGE UPS SYSTEMS, INC. Due to the precise
nature of MRI scans, these systems are very susceptible to even the slightest
blip in power. The AirGen(R) provides both line filtering and continuous power
in a very compact and portable design.
According to NanoSignal's engineering team, "We're seeing many critical
applications where traditional battery-based backup systems are not the ideal
solution due to limited backup time, space constraints and environmental
concerns. The AirGen(R) units will provide NanoSignal's customers with the
highest level of power quality and availability."
The portable AirGen(R) generator, powered with Ballard's Nexa(R) power module,
is easy to operate. Users simply plug electronic equipment such as the
SLICES(TM) workstation or other sensitive systems directly into the AirGen(R)
generator. During a power outage, the AirGen(R) fuel cell generator will
automatically start protecting connected equipment. Unlike traditional battery
backup systems that last just minutes, the AirGen(R) generator quietly generates
electricity as long as hydrogen fuel is supplied. Ideal for sensitive
electronics, the unit also features built-in surge suppression, insulating
connected equipment from damaging surges and "brown-outs."
MGE supports the AirGen(R) fuel cell generator with its network of 900 service
specialists in 170 centers worldwide assuring customer satisfaction. For more
information on the portable AirGen(R) generator, visit www.fuelcellstore.com or

PhenoMed Sdn Bhd Initiating Clinical Trials Program for SARS and Other Infectious Diseases
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Jan 26, 2004 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- PhenoMed Sdn
Bhd, a development-stage disease management and medical-pharmaceutical
therapeutic company, announces the initiation of its clinical trials program for
infectious diseases.
"PhenoMed is announcing that it will begin collecting information from
government agencies, physicians and individual patients interested in
participating in the company's clinical trials program. We are working closely
with our US partner, GenoMed, Inc., and that company's CEO and Chief Medical
Officer, Dr. David Moskowitz, in helping to sign up interested parties," said
Ezehan Reza Kamaluddin, PhenoMed's interim Chief Operating Officer. "There is a
worldwide need for disease management and targeted pharmaceutical therapeutics
directed at infectious disease. Malaysia's disease management needs are
ever-present and PhenoMed wants to do all it can to help in meeting the
country's healthcare needs. The immediate concerns over avian flu in the region
highlights this need."
PhenoMed's US partner, GenoMed, believes it has discovered a way to accomplish
the equivalent of vaccination against all viruses, a kind of "universal vaccine"
against most viral diseases. The method involves blocking angiotensin II, an
approach already known to be extremely safe from its use, for other purposes, in
hundreds of millions of patients since 1978. This patent-pending method is
presently under study by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious
Diseases (NIAID), part of NIH, to test the Company's compounds in tissue culture
assays to evaluate potential activity against influenza (the flu) and SARS.

About GenoMed, Inc.
GenoMed, Inc. is a next generation disease management company whose mission is
the improvement of patient outcomes through the identification of molecular
pathways that cause disease. As first reported in a St. Louis Business Journal
article
(http://www.stlouis.bizjournals.com/stlouis/stories/2002/05/13/story8.html), the
company has applied for patents based on its finding that the ACE gene is
associated with a large number of common diseases including virtually all
autoimmune diseases. GenoMed is currently conducting worldwide clinical trials
for SARS and influenza A (the flu). In September of 2003, GenoMed obtained an
88% cure rate for this treatment approach against another lethal viral disease,
West Nile virus encephalitis. These results will be published soon.

GenoMed Launches Clinical Trial Against the Common Cold
ST. LOUIS, Jan 26, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- GenoMed Inc. ("the
Company" or "GenoMed") (Pink Sheets: GMED) announced today that it has launched
a free clinical trial available to anybody with the common cold.
Symptoms of the common head cold consist of sore throat, runny nose, sinus
drainage, and occasionally fever, muscle aches, weakness, and fatigue. The
common cold causes billions of dollars of lost work. It is caused by a number of
viruses well-known to our species, including human coronaviruses. SARS is caused
by a coronavirus which is new to humans.
GenoMed has genomic epidemiologic evidence that autoimmune diseases such as
allergic sinusitis are associated with overactivity of angiotensin I-converting
enzyme, or ACE. The Company has been accumulating clinical evidence that
blocking the major product of ACE, which is a small eight amino acid hormone
named angiotensin II, can decrease inflammation in a number of diseases,
including viral disease. These diseases so far include alopecia, psoriasis,
fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, and West Nile virus encephalitis.
GenoMed has already launched trials for influenza A, SARS, and avian flu. It now
launches an attack against the most common viral illness of all, the common
cold.
Using angiotensin II blockers to block the symptoms of a viral illness such as
the common cold has enormous clinical appeal, since nobody taking an angiotensin
II blocker or ACE inhibitor in the 25 years of their global use has ever
appeared to be immunocompromised. The same cannot be said for any other
immunomodulator in clinical use, such as steroids, which cause a number of
problems when used chronically. Not so with angiotensin II blockers.
GenoMed has already tested this patent-pending approach against West Nile virus
encephalitis, a viral scourge in which the people who die are the ones with the
most vigorous immune response. GenoMed's patient outcomes for West Nile virus
encephalitis this past September were extremely encouraging: 7 out of 8 patients
had prompt disappearance of their symptoms within 12-48 hours (24 hours on
average). The only patient not to respond had chronic lymphocytic leukemia, in
which the immune response is known to be severely impaired. In leukemia, white
cells don't work properly. But three patients over 70 recovered promptly. This
age group has a 50% mortality from West Nile virus encephalitis. GenoMed's case
series for West Nile virus encephalitis is scheduled to be published in a
special Pharmacogenomics issue of "Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry" later
this year.
Said Dr. David Moskowitz, Chief Medical & Executive Officer for GenoMed, "Our
extremely positive experience with West Nile virus this past September, and with
autoimmune diseases like psoriasis and alopecia for over a year, have shown us
the utility of blocking angiotensin II in diseases with lots of inflammation. We
can't prevent everybody from getting sick with a cold, but our treatment may
make people feel better more quickly compared with doing nothing -- what's
called 'supportive care only.'"
Continued Dr. Moskowitz, "As you can imagine, this will be a hard trial to
perform. We'll be following how many people who enroll in our trial actually
come down with a full-blown head cold, how long they have to miss work or
school, and how bad their cold symptoms are on a scale of 1 to 10. We'll ask
patients to rate their experience this winter against previous winters. We'll
also try to get control information from other people in their household who
didn't enroll in our trial. We're looking for a major, clinically significant
change in their cold pattern, not a 10% difference, which will be undetectable
with this study design."
Dr. Moskowitz went on to say, "The Internet now makes it possible for anybody to
enroll in our free clinical trial at any time of day or night anywhere in the
world, simply by going to our website and clicking on 'cold trial.' They'll have
to enter their email address so that we can follow up with them. We need to do
this in order to be able to publish our case series for the common cold as we're
already doing for West Nile virus. In return for giving us their email address,
people will be able to download the documents they'll need to show their
physician in order to get started immediately on our trial."
Dr. Moskowitz ended by saying, "We believe our approach may be ideal for
combating all viral diseases on a population-wide basis. The drugs we use are
safe in children and adults, so there's virtually no risk if they're used at
appropriate doses."
GenoMed thinks that it would make the most sense to begin using its treatment
when a patient feels a cold coming on, not after the patient feels so miserable
that s/he has to stay home from school or work. The drugs GenoMed uses are safe
enough to allow for their preventive use.
To volunteer for GenoMed's free clinical trial against the common cold, go to
the home page at www.genomedics.com and click on "Common Cold Clinical Trial."

first reported that the company has applied for patents based on its finding
that the ACE gene is associated with a large number of common diseases including
virtually all autoimmune diseases. The body's immune response to cold viruses
are responsible for the symptoms a cold sufferer gets. They are the result of
cytokines or interleukins acting downstream in the disease pathway from
angiotensin II, which is a very early upstream signal. Blocking angiotensin II
should decrease the body's reaction to the virus, and decrease the degree and
duration of cold symptoms.

Our Technologies
Nuclear Micropower Generation
We are developing embeddable nuclear micro-batteries that can supply long-lasting power for computer chips, micromotors, remote sensors, implantable medical devices, and other defense and aerospace applications. The target markets for this technology are the nanotechnology, aerospace and defense industries. The program is based on three U.S. Patents (5,087,533; 6,118,204; 6,238,812), to which we have acquired license option rights.
Over the course of the next twelve months, we intend to further evaluate the technology and negotiate a joint proposal for development with a national laboratory under a CRADA (Cooperative Research and Development Agreement) or WFO (Work for Others) agreement. The cost to develop this technology will be determined upon completion of specific development arrangements with the selected laboratory. We will need to raise additional money to fund development of this program and intend to seek funding for this project from government sources. Although the nuclear micro-battery principle of operation was validated by an outside laboratory, this technology is a development stage technology. As a development stage technology, we cannot guarantee that it can be successfully commercialized.
Nuclear Solutions, Inc., located in Washington, D.C., is a publicly traded company listed on the NASD’s OTCBB NSOL. We pride ourselves on our distinctive ability to identify and define outstanding nuclear issues and propose intriguing solutions.
Our management and technical team leverages diverse business and scientific backgrounds, allowing us to identify and study a problem from multiple viewpoints. This ability, combined with an entrepreneurial background, drives us to explore problems and technological answers that others may not feel compelled to explore.
Our Vision
To create, obtain, develop and provide advanced technical solutions for the nuclear, environmental and defense industries that promote nuclear waste remediation; energy production; as well as nuclear safety, security, and control.
Our Mission
Nuclear Solutions identifies and develops technologies which are then licensed to industry partners or commercialized through joint ventures. The sequence in which we develop technologies is intended to deliberately minimize risk while maximizing the potential of shareholder value, thereby maintaining the balance between short-term growth and long-term milestones. As a partner to industry, it is our goal to serve the nuclear, environmental, and defense industries as a purveyor of specialized nuclear technologies.
Our Philosophy
At Nuclear Solutions, we believe in the power of unbridled creative thinking coupled with pragmatic expectations. This elemental principle--combined with a management and technical team possessing a broad, interdisciplinary scientific and business background--naturally yields new ideas and ways to solve old problems and create new opportunities.
At Nuclear Solutions, our goal is not only to improve existing nuclear technologies, but also to advance the state-of-the-art in nuclear science in order to realize the benefits of safe, environmentally friendly nuclear energy while eliminating the liabilities.
O/T: An issue of national interest - and your chance to participate.
It would appear that the ultra-liberals in Massachusetts are trying to turn America into France with their new Gay Marriage law that other states may be forced to recognize by Federal law.
If your position is that of believing that "..marriage.." is supposed to be a formalized and legally binding relationship between a "..man and a woman..", you may want to sign the petition on the following website: http://www.nogaymarriage.com" target="_new">http://http://www.nogaymarriage.com
I don't pretend to know all the legal ramifications and subtly disguised lawyer "..mumbo-jumbo.." associated with this "..agenda.." being pushed by the activist homosexual community, but I think we can be assured that it must be some form of effort to enable the homosexuals to "..milk the legal, federal and state systems..". If they didn't get something very important out of it, they wouldn't be trying so hard to jam it down everyone's throats. I personally suspect it has something to do with guaranteeing free tax-payer funded healthcare for those infected with AIDS by their own irresponsible behavior.
If the Founding Fathers had wanted boy-boy and girl-girl marriages to be part of why the USA was being formed, one would think that it would have written it into the original delcaration, constitutional and rights documents.
No clue. They rank right up there in the quality standards with QBID.
I haven't even looked at that since we played the MOMO a couple of years ago.

Obewan,
I wrote a little email to JPL this afternoon regarding their "..slightly ill.." robot on Mars.
Thought you might get a chuckle out of it.
"...Hello,
Sorry to bother y'all at this juncture, but has anyone at JPL asked the question "..can one rover help fix the other one.."...???
The news article I read said you folks think it's a "..piece-part or cable connection.." problem.
What came to mind was that perhaps your "R2D2" could motor over to "R2D1" and give it a swift kick in the fuel cell, etc - so to speak. ( i.e.: bump a cable connector back into its socket, etc...).
Hopefully the design team attached a "Leatherman" multi-tool (or McGyver's Swiss Army Knife ) to each rover, so they can do a little tinkering if need be.
Best of luck.

Tee hee hee.........

o/t: Mars Rover Resumes Sending Data Back to Earth Fri 23 January, 2004 15:51
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Mars rover Spirit resumed sending data to Earth on Friday after the robot suffered from garbled communications and periods of intermittent silence, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory said on Friday.
JPL, which manages the Mars project for NASA, said in a statement on its Web site that the flight team received data from Spirit starting at 8:26 a.m. EST and continuing for 20 minutes.
"The spacecraft sent limited data in a proper response to a ground command, and we're planning for commanding further communication sessions later today," Mars Exploration Rover Project Manager Pete Theisinger said.
The six-wheeled craft landed on the red planet on Jan. 3 for a planned three-month mission. Officials had described the loss of communications as a "very serious anomaly."
The scientists reported on Thursday Spirit had radioed a signal indicating it was receiving Earth transmissions even though it had not resumed sending data back to Earth.
Spirit had been unable to return any science or telemetry data since early Wednesday.

I decided to close out my postion in AVHC yesterday. I'll get back in when I see the symbol change, as they will probably start putting out some PR and make some progress after that happens.
Randy Sulhoff is pretty good at medical sales and marketing, but he isn't an MBA-CEO; which is probably why the new guy is taking over in that position.
Back later........
John
o/t: AVHC put out a PR saying they are reorganizing, renaming and filing for a new symbol. I presume when they get that accomplished there will be a group of PRs identifying the changes and presumably some progress.
John
My comment was related to the new board members and officers who seem to be dealing with the issues in a forthright manner.
Where the company "was" doesn't mean much, where it's going now is why the price trend is up (..from $0.10 ten+/- months ago when I started watching it..).

John
I think it's a good sign that they are dilligently cleaning out all the old closets and cobwebs. It will be interesting to see how well the company really does after they've got it relisted and tuned-up.
It's still hard to believe that this was at $0.10+/- when I first stumbled across it on Pinksheets.com.

The Company has been producing at full capacity for snow blades since September 15 and there is still a significant backlog of 35-50 days on snow product, while there was no backlog last year. The orders being filled in the first quarter of 2004 are indicating that it should be one of the best quarters in the history of the company.
A conscious decision to increase penetration in the Original Equipment Manufacturer or OEM market has had a very positive effect on the company's operating revenues. "OEM revenues grew over twenty percent last year and we anticipate that revenues will more than double this year," said Mr. Ron Hickman. "OEM's are an important part of our business as they will reduce the seasonality of our revenues and balance out our production schedule."
Management spoke of the strength of the balance sheet as well as the strategic positioning of cash. The board of directors has approved the fiscal 2004 budget that targets earnings per share at $.32 or $.29 on a fully diluted basis. Mr. Ron Hickman went on to say "After review of the preliminary results for the first quarter our management team feels very comfortable with those estimates."

Destruction awaits weapons in Libya
Nuclear-related materials a priority for team of experts
11:51 PM CST on Monday, January 19, 2004
From Wire Reports
LONDON – A team of British and U.S. weapons experts has arrived in Libya and within weeks could be dismantling, destroying and removing materials related to that nation's nuclear weapons program, a senior Bush administration official said Monday.
Plans are also being laid by Libyan chemical weapons scientists to incinerate tons of mustard gas agent that was manufactured to fill chemical bombs, the official said. Missile programs and biological research efforts are still under scrutiny, but experts hope to develop plans to shut them down permanently in the weeks ahead.
The experts spent several weeks in the fall inspecting Libyan laboratories and military factories before the Dec. 19 announcement by Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi that he would give up the weapons programs.
In Vienna, U.S. and British officials meeting with Dr. Mohamed el-Baradei, director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, agreed that the U.N. agency would be responsible for verifying the destruction and removal work, a spokesman for the agency said.
In the Netherlands, government ministers acknowledged Monday that highly sensitive nuclear technology developed by a Dutch company may have been transferred to Libya and North Korea, along with Pakistan and Iran.
The disclosure in Parliament in Amsterdam marked the first public confirmation of assertions that centrifuge technology for enriching uranium apparently found its way to Libya and North Korea.
The Dutch officials, Foreign Minister Bernard Bot and Economic Affairs Minister Laurens-Jan Brinkhorst, said it was not clear how the potentially arms-related technology had been transferred.
Diplomats elsewhere said the public comments were likely to increase pressure on Pakistan, which has already been linked to Iran's capability and is suspected of providing the technology to North Korea and Libya.
U.S. officials have long suspected that Abdul Qadeer Khan, who led development of Pakistan's atomic bomb, stole the centrifuge secrets in the 1970s while working for the Dutch company Urenco.
Mr. Khan was convicted of the theft, but the verdict was overturned.

Hi,
I still think WTAI is a great concept and that the vehicle design is pretty sharp.
It would nice to hear that the SEC beef against Norman was dropped, if you can dig up something please post it.
