In the white paper, it states.....
"It is fundamentally possible to make large panels or sheets out of Liquidmetal with millimeter thickness, but this technology is currently under development."
Isn't this what the latest Apple patent was referring to?
Watts,
Why do you always have to poop on the party? If this goes to a dollar, you should be thrilled. I will be well on my way and many will want to celebrate. I'm sure a fun weekend in Vegas wouldn't kill you. Just lie to your wife and tell her you're going to an outdoor retreat or better yet, therapy!
Then have a wild weekend out with the boys..
I have actually had conversations with Schobert via phone and we have discussed planning a trip to Vegas if this thing ever jumps over a dollar. I want Watts to go so that I can get him drunk and leave him passed out on the roof. (Think - the Hangover). LOL
I have gone into this stock with a three-four year timeline. I keep dollar cost averaging down. I am young and unconcerned by stock price valuations and hope it goes down between now and April first. I would love to soon own 1,000,000 shares.
Most savvy investors don't take risk. You could argue John Paulson wasn't a savvy investor when he was shorting the real estate market with levered products that didn't exist before he helped to create them. He made billions.
You can argue that George Soros wasn's savvy when he made billions shorting the pound (currency).
All I will say is this. We had a lot of patents come out recently and Apple has figured out how to make sheets of the alloy. This could have the potential to change some of the manufacturing specs as being in a sheet could possibly speed the rate of injection resulting in a higher yield or yield some other type of "discovery".
My worry is dilution. We need to start generating regular orders and this needs to be used by Apple so that the word starts getting out that it is in use by Apple. That will put this on the radar and on some pretty large maps.
You have a huge point. Kang never prevented anybody from having a strategy for how much they would be willing to lose when you first bought LQMT. If you held it without a stop order, then shame on you.
That being said, have you guys read the design guide on the Liquidmetal.com blog site. It's informative as to the process of manufacturing and it also makes me happy that I'm not a designer, manufacturer, scientist or engineer. it's a different language altogether to me.
That is awesome
Yama,
Let me be VERY clear about this with you. Apple employees at the retail level have "no idea" what Apple does inside the walls at Cupertino. That is all I can say.. I wish I could say more and elaborate but I am unable to.
I need to wait until March 31. Dang it. Hopefully the call is bad. I am hoping the next call afterwards is the start of something meaningful.
They should protect themselves by releasing the iSwatch
For those of you hoping for a big payout, make sure it is in your Roth IRA. That way the gains are tax free.
Watts,
Glad you're going to be better today. Please come back to this board full time. We need your commentary and your sharp wit..
What do you make of all the iWatch rumors that hit the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. Considering Swatch has already used Liquidmetal as a cosmetic finish and Jans Schroers has been making watch faces out of it, do you believe this might be the initial application for Apple?
Well this is obviously a concern.
So where in the future do you see liquidmetal ootentially making money? And why would they form a non-exclusive partnership with material if that means material can cut them out?
That makes NO Sense
This is a very interesting article..
http://9to5mac.com/2013/02/08/founder-of-apples-human-interface-group-talks-potential-for-an-iwatch/
Also, note the similarities in shape of the iWatch photo in the article and the watch in the second link referencing Jan Schroers and liquidmetal blow molding.

Yes, but they still must BUY the alloy.
What makes you think I'm from Texas?

QUESTION:
Could the Engel machines of the future include this technology? That would dramatically speed up the process of manufacturing and deployment. Also of importance.. Apple has the world wide perpetual exclusive rights to the Liquidmetal alloy but they have to purchase the alloy. I'm not sure the rights they have allow them to manufacture the alloy. The agreement probably stipulated that Liquidmetal had to have agreements in place to ensure sufficient supply of Liquidmetal at the time of deployment.
Potential poison pill!
The authorized shares could be used in the future to prevent a possible buyout. All we need is one major contract and we will rise from these ashes. I hope that we go to $0.08 short term. Let me buy some more and get to my goal number of shares. I want to buy a house. Where to buy is the big question.
This is what we should be asking Thomas Steipp at the next conference call.
Have we:
1) Built an injection molding system capable of forming full-size projectile bodies
2) Developed technology for processing 4340 sheet material into shaped liners
3) Established an alloy melting facility
4) Developed post-processing operations and quality control
This work is expected to be completed in 3 QRT 2012
People need to stop thinking the iPhone 5S will have Liquidmetal. I am hopeful for the iPhone 6. My reasons for this logic is that Atakan Peker said "Given the size of MacBook and scale of Apple products, i think it is unlikely that Liquidmetal casing will be used in the bear term. It's more likely in the form of small component such as a hinge or bracket. A MacBook casing, such as a unibody, will take two to four more years to implement". - May 2012.
I think we could start seeing some Liquidmetal components during the iPhone 6 which will launch in 2014. If Apple makes cases, they will move to update the entire line within 12 months of each product launch. The real benefit of Apple using this is the advertising and media attention we will receive. Within a few years, hundreds of millions of devices will ship bearing our stamp.
If we get other orders prior to Apple, then we will be trading at orders of magnitude higher than we currently are. If Apple uses this, then I will be close to being able to retire.
What you are referring to are the companies Steipp is after. Steipp isn't after Apple as Apple doesn't buy what it's sold, it buys what it WANTS. Steipp is referring to aerospace and military contracts which have a 5-10 year average contract.
Also, Apple has $125 billion dollars and already owns the rights to the alloy. So Apple will do what they need to do to remain innovative. Don't think that ANY company pitches APPLE these days. APPLE knows what is out there and has the most brilliant minds looking into their options.
Also, Liquidmetal wlll not make the parts for Apple. Apple will have their manufacturer (Honhai) order the machines from Engel under assumed names and have a factory full of those machines as soon as they are perfect and will have dozens of those machines producing their parts.
Of course, this is only if Apple decides to move forward with this alloy.
Welcome back Watts..
Where've you been hiding?

A quote from jpaige's article..
BMGs will likely find use as plastic-replacement components in cosmetic applications (e.g., watches, cell phones...
In the past two days, it has been rumored that Apple will release a cheaper iPhone for emerging markets with a plastic back. What I am curious about is if Apple could save money and bring down the cost of manufacturing across multiple lines by utilizing liquidmetal instead of plastic for this cosmetic application.
Yeah, but what does he know?? He's only a ROCKET SCIENTIST that works for the JET PROPULSION LAB.
Thank you for the link jpaige
poop deck,
What are your thoughts regarding our future prospects with LQMT? I'm curious where you stand as somebody who's been around the block a few times with this stock..
I want to emphasize one thing. I don't think Apple is using LQMT. I think LQMT is using Apple.
Apple is essentially the research and development division of LQMT. Apple cross licenses whatever innovation they come up with to LQMT. LQMT can use this in all other industries.
So I just hope that we start signing some contracts soon. LETS GO
Apple should make a super high end watch face and then sell high-end customized brand name skins for the watches. You could have one watch that coordinates with all of your outfits depending upon your mood and what you're wearing. Each face could start at ten dollars or $50 for premium brands..
Did anybody else join the class action lawsuit? This may be a good way to attempt to avoid further dilution.
Hey Tom Tom.
Great minds think alike :)
Actually.. Vitamin Water paid 50 CENT (The rapper) in stock and his stock was eventually worth more than $100 million. That's not really a bad idea. The only problem with it is that:
1. Tiger Woods isn't winning anymore and....
2. These clubs can't be used on the Tour.
I am very conflicted by whether I should add at these prices. On the one hand, I do believe dilution is imminent. On the other hand, any positive news will send this up. Third, if Apple announces an iWatch, iRing, or anything to that effect, damn.. I just don't know how to play this.
Should we be concerned that so many shares are owned by insiders or is this going to amount to a massive poison pill?
I will admit I am NOT excited about further dilution. What we need is a contract. I am not excited about this ad I was prepared to buy a substantial number of shares. Now the question is whether I should wait.. How low can this go?
Watts, I have always stuck by the time line that Atakan Peker suggested. This technology will be commercialized by Apple in 2014. I believe that LQMT will be able to start capitalizing on the Apple patents after that occurs because they will be able to capitalize on the free advertising. That is why I feel this could be a great time to load. All the dots are slowly being connected. We just need the machines and one good contract to turn this ship. If we get an aerospace or military contract of sizable value, this could turn into a rocket.
So far, so good. I am going to be able to massively dollar cost average down.
http://www.macrumors.com/2012/12/04/apple-doubling-size-of-fuel-cell-facility-at-north-carolina-data-center/
Apple is committed to clean energy. I still think that they are on a mission to make a liquidmetal fuel cell for their cell phones and computers as this would be something no other firm will be able to replicate or counterfeit. Keep in mind that Apple is the largest user of fuel cells in the world that is not an energy company. They are committed to this.
I truly believe this to be the future. Another thing that should make us feel good is that some of the new off-the-shelf iMacs are being designed and assembled in the US. The assembly is a big deal if it's being done domestically. This could be the next cycle of engineering innovation at Apple.
