Fair enough. <3 Sendme. Happy weekend!
No offense Sendme, but who the hell cares about tech traders. Licensing or buyout... yes... in agreement. Wouldn't make sense otherwise and one of these two (or both as you say biotech) is the simplest explanation.
I'm glad I trusted millions of years of evolution -- my gut -- and bought shares... come on $XXII!
I love it... in this entire clinical review... not one mention of XXII's very low nic. cigs as an alternative to quit smoking...

Next-generation products drove BAT merger

Gottlieb also supported efforts to shift traditional cigarettes to very low nicotine levels.
“The entire tobacco/nicotine market is in a period of unparalleled change, and BAT clearly recognizes that they either help lead that change, or they are following in the footsteps of companies like Kodak, which missed the opportunity to transform as technology did,” said David Sweanor, an adjunct law professor at the University of Ottawa and the author of several electronic-cigarette studies.
“Philip Morris International has seen a market value gain of roughly $60 billion attributed to its next generation products.”
Sweanor said it “must be a huge motivator for BAT, knowing that Reynolds was always seen as ahead of the rest of the industry in (heat-not-burn) technology and development, to now capitalize on the transformation of the industry to massively less hazardous non-combustion products.”
Stephen Pope, managing principal with industry research firm Starlight Ideas of London, said BAT “has no time to be left on the starting block” with next-generation products.
“It needs to take the opportunity now to close the gap with Philip Morris International, building on its existing distribution strengths, create global scale with (next generation) products and focus on being best in class at every step.”
...
“Given how complex it is to introduce a combustible cigarette in the U.S. market, we may put more effort into the next-generation products,” Durante said.
No offense to you fine gentlemen here on the XXII board, but, that the Zacks downgrade is even up for discussion is- silly, and a waste of time.

Wow, lots of positive feedback.
Yes, I'm a broken record... but connect the damn dots:
Univ. of Vermont study using XXII's cigarettes...
http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/nicotine-reduction-in-cigarettes-may-curb-addiction-study/1/1032975.html
"This study provides a very encouraging indication that reducing the nicotine content of cigarettes would help vulnerable populations," Higgins said.
https://www.gurufocus.com/news/557432/imperial-brands-yields-5-with-selloff-on-fda-nicotine-levels
Imperial Brands PLC (IMBBY) has taken a hit with its resistance to join the new smokeless tobacco craze and the Food and Drug Administration wanting to reduce nicotine levels. This is a rare selloff for a blue-chip company with a dividend yield of 5%. ...The FDA notes that 90% of people in the U.S. started smoking before the age of 18. Around 480,000 deaths can be attributed to nicotine and it costs the U.S. $300 billion extra a year in health care.
Good article
Keep connecting the dots...
Seriously, connect the dots...

http://www.golocalprov.com/live/research-at-brown-impacts-fdas-plan-to-limit-nicotine-in-cigarettes
There has long been a belief that a major reason for the high prevalence of smoking in people with psychiatric disorders is that nicotine helps with psychiatric symptoms — by improving negative mood and anxiety, for example. If so, these smokers might experience worsening of symptoms when nicotine is reduced. Similarly, rates of smoking are extremely high in people with substance-use disorders, who might increase their drug use if nicotine were reduced. So far what I’ve found is that smokers with elevated depression symptoms who switch to very low nicotine cigarettes do not experience increases in negative mood — in fact, their symptoms improve.
NO WHERE does Gottlieb say MORE studies need to be conducted. He simply refers to "rigorous" studies that have been completed... and that the FDA will seek input on other matters from regulatory experts. This is a HUGE plus.
Wow, this article is actually pretty spectacular from a SH standpoint. Like I said before, he is not interested in a dialogue over nicotine being the FDA's centerpiece. He's leveraging the law (as he cites, multiple times) to reduce nicotine levels... nothing more to it (in fact, his tone is clear-cut... which I appreciate). Those peer-reviewed studies he mentions all used XXII's tobacco, of course. All in all, very positive and very powerful language.
Your issue with time, again, isn't really warranted. Like other posters said, we all know what's coming... Big Tobacco knows what's coming... the framework will be put into place by the FDA... but Big Tobacco will also have to prepare months in advance. This article should trigger BAT's continued collaboration with XXII. Hell, it might even trigger some purchase orders from other Big T companies to begin experimenting with XXII's tobacco and their flavoring.
And my goodness... wait till this goes international.

Lol
Sooner
Author was very intentionally biased
Forbes probably has Big T connections IMHO
Forbes mentions XXII:

I have problems with the perspective/setup of the article but don't have the time to mention... in any case, XXII is getting an audience.
Connecting the dots...

All I know is we got the right guy leading the FDA: a cancer survivor who knows the value of time, with less patience than the standard Schmo for clinical trial after clinical trial...

The public has been going "green" for years now... connect the dots: we're waking up to pesticides, parabens, phthalates, etc. Stranger things HAVE happened... look at mjna legalization... regulatory measures CAN change... or be experimented with, at the least.
Gottleib knows XXII's tech works... he couldn't care less about the public dialogue phase... that's political talk for this is happening sooner or later...
“The overwhelming amount of death and disease attributable to tobacco is caused by addiction to cigarettes—the only legal consumer product that, when used as intended, will kill half of all long-term users,” said FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb. “Unless we change course, 5.6 million young people alive today will die prematurely later in life from tobacco use."
X-22... .05 mg of nicotine per cig, baby...
There is no reason for any govt. not to adopt... will save $$$ in healthcare costs alone... the red tape will be cut
So was I. More importantly, more press:
Gentlemen, $XXII... there's no one else... all clinical trials have used their tobacco... I'm excited... I put in a lot of cash and averaged out to 2.50 range, unfortunately, but who the hell cares when you've got a near-term $10 stock:

“Nicotine rewires brain areas associated with mood, causing predisposition to mood disorders in the future,” Spangler said. “Nicotine also affects the heart among adolescents, predisposing them to cardiac disorders, and nicotine can affect a youth’s immune system.
“Ideally, it would be best if no young person were exposed to nicotine because of its adverse brain development,” he said.

http://www.readingeagle.com/news/article/editorial-the-fdas-sensible-approach-to-a-dangerous-addiction
There is something to that argument. Cigarette smoking is the nation's leading cause of preventable disease and death, killing more than 480,000 Americans annually, with treatment of related illnesses costing more than $300 billion per year, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
But Gottlieb's comprehensive approach has support in the health community, and appears to be the right approach.
"The big picture here is that cigarettes as we know them could be phased out and e-cigarettes could be a bridge for people to not use cigarettes," Josh Sharfstein, a deputy FDA commissioner in the Obama administration and now a professor at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, told The Washington Post.

http://www.business-standard.com/article/current-affairs/how-big-tobacco-is-going-after-the-young-in-developing-countries-like-india-117081100235_1.html
Market research for John Player & Sons and Imperial Tobacco, for example, found that: “The maintenance and stability of the cigarette market depend in large measure on the constant recruitment of youth (age 15–23, roughly) to the cigarette smoking habit.”
Question... since all the positive, clinical trials--for years--have been conducted with XXII's tobacco... (for this reason alone)... it's only logical the FDA would want to push XXII's tobacco ahead of the pack... right? (Let's ignore the fact that other companies don't have the tech, patents, timeline, etc.)
Nice point... looking forward to it...
This is interesting... that's their strategy? Sounds like they'll need XXII when it comes to actual cigarettes and not new products.
