NO WHERE does Gottlieb say MORE studies need to be conducted. He simply refers to "rigorous" studies that have been completed... and that the FDA will seek input on other matters from regulatory experts. This is a HUGE plus.

Wow, this article is actually pretty spectacular from a SH standpoint. Like I said before, he is not interested in a dialogue over nicotine being the FDA's centerpiece. He's leveraging the law (as he cites, multiple times) to reduce nicotine levels... nothing more to it (in fact, his tone is clear-cut... which I appreciate). Those peer-reviewed studies he mentions all used XXII's tobacco, of course. All in all, very positive and very powerful language.

Your issue with time, again, isn't really warranted. Like other posters said, we all know what's coming... Big Tobacco knows what's coming... the framework will be put into place by the FDA... but Big Tobacco will also have to prepare months in advance. This article should trigger BAT's continued collaboration with XXII. Hell, it might even trigger some purchase orders from other Big T companies to begin experimenting with XXII's tobacco and their flavoring.

And my goodness... wait till this goes international.
